In this journey, everything is possible if you plan well. Most folks will discourage you but I know that adding a baby to your application can take a loooong time. Mine took nearly a year. I'd say go for it. You can choose to land in Ontario, If you do, you will get immediate health coverage; my sister-in-law gave birth 10 weeks after landing and didn't pay a cent. subsequently, as soon as you get released from hospital, you can fly out to BC to stay with your brother, then implement the rest of your plan. Sis, you can do it. Abercrome: Hi Senior parents in the house,
My family and I are planning to land in Canada towards the end of May. I’m currently pregnant and will be 30 weeks pregnant by the time we land. Our plan is to land in Burnaby, BC given that my brother stays there and himself and his wife have offered to house us during our initial months especially given my current state.
From my research, the Medical Service Plan (MSP) for BC doesn’t become active until you have spent 3 months in the province. The advice given by BC government is for newly-landed immigrants to register for private insurance that can cover them during the 3 month waiting period. However, private insurance doesn’t seem to cover childbirth. I will most likely go into labour before the lapse of the 3 months and because I’ve had a prior C-section, I am likely to have a C-section again. The out-of-pocket cost for C-section is around CAD12k which is a lot and unlikely to be refunded by the time my MSP becomes active.
I’d appreciate any advice I can get from those who have had babies in their first few months of landing. What do you think is my best bet? |

Redo your DS 160 using the details on your new passport. Then use the 'update profile' tab in CGI and update the old application with the new DS160 number. Ashirioluwa: Nothing to worry about. Go with both of them. |

Because US, UK a few other countries' passport holders are eligible to travel to Canada visa free hence the caution not to submit a US/UK passport. That said, since you used her US passport to add her to the application, that is the one you should submit. If I were in your shoes, I'd submit and wait for the response from IRCC on how it works. stacey1994: please a quick question....we received the PPR letter and it mentions something there about not submitting your passport if it is a US passport and just photocopies
My baby Currently only has a US passport as her Nigerian passport is not ready. I used her US passport to add her to my application Has anyone ever been in this situation?
Should I submit her US passport because I am wondering what document she will use to enter into canada with us now? |

It's PPR!!!!!!!IELTS Sept 28, 2019 L - 9.0, R - 6.5, S - 8.5, W - 7.5. Overall Band 8.0 Applied for SINP - October 2019, got ITA after 7 days Submitted application - December 2019 C O V I D Intelligible - Jan 2021 (what ?? mbanu) the officer claimed I didn't maintain required POF every single day for the required time period. Looked through my POF and it appears she missed one of my bank statements. Against popular opinion, I requested for a review which they said could take up to 2 years...I don't care. Just review this! Note that at this stage, one can either start a fresh application or request a review. Request for review submitted - February 2021 Nomination approval - April 2021 IRCC ITA - April 2021 Upfront medicals - June 2021 Submitted application - June 2021 Twin babies - September 2021 BIL - November 2021 Started the journey to get them Nigeran Travel passports....hmm! This took until January 2022. Sent webforms to inform IRCC of their arrival before eventually receiving their passports Upfront medicals for twins - March 2022. Sent ALL required documents including payment, proof of medicals, birth certificates, copies of passports. Just didn't want ADR. Twins added to application - March 2022 Upfront medicals expired - June 2022 Request for medical - July 11, 2022 Medicals done - July 25, 2022 Medicals passed - July 28, 2022 PPR - August 8, 2022 My reflection: Every step of this journey, you can do by yourself. Don't let agents scam you. Don't be afraid of challenging unfavourable decisions. Once you are certain that you have a case, make a case for a review!Congratulations to everyone that already got PPR and for those waiting, hang in there! |

I disagree on this one. Nigeria tried! This was a good outing for tge athletes. When you reflect on how much the country spends on sports development against what other countries spend, then you will appreciate their performance. A husband that can travel with his wife’s passport when she’s heavily pregnant, is not wicked but is waiting for an ”humble apology”. jolak5: Hello gurus,
Thank you for all the information you've made available here.
Please I am a crossroad. I have an offer from a UK school but with the recent update about FSW, I'm also considering Canada. My score on CRS is 476 and I believe that I'm well positioned for this.
Can I still move to the UK and continue the Canadian application from there or will it be impossible? Folks have given you sound advise. I just want to add that Canada PR can take up to 2 years! By which time you would have finished your masters degree in the UK. If it were me, I'd go to the UK and start my studies and see how things progress. The UK isn't a bad country to live in too |

Please tell her to read the letter again! Should include also step 1 which is inform canada if there is a change in circumstance, step 2: passport requirements and step 3: prepare your documents. You will also get information about pre arrival services as well as height and eye color chat. If these aren’t the case, she needs to call their attention to what she received and what the way forward is. This letter definitely does not contain a passport request. Guess it's a waiting game |

Congratulations on the ECA. On this long and somewhat patience trying journey, I have learnt to celebrate every little win. On British Council and MOD administered IELTS, there doesn't appear to be any difference in terms of difficulty level or pass rate. Technicalities appear same, depending on availability on your preffered date, I'd say, write any one of them. All the best! Saynoomore: Greetings all. I hope I'm not too late to this party!
ECA sorted for me & spouse.
Next on the queue is IELTS.
I heard (or perhaps read somewhere about the two versions - MOD & British Council. Please is there any difference or advantage of one over the other?) . I dont mind taking any, but just to be sure I'm not missing anything. I think UNILAG is a test Centre. Any advise will be appreciated. |

I enjoyed reading your story. May the land favour you. ayandee: I put to bed via CS on 26th february. Recovery was smooth. My mum and mother-in-law really helped. CRS simulation was 430 even with a master's degree as i was 37 at the time. I started searching for ways to improve my score and stumbled on another nairaland thread on TEF/TCF. On 1st April, I started french classes. After 7 months of intensive lessons and exam préparation, I sat for TEF on 26th October. Results were releases 14th November. My TEF story was shared here. I had the following: TEF: Compréhension orale C1, Compréhension écrite C1, Expression orale B2, Expression écrite C1. It was one of my happiest moments.
I had evaluated my masters and with that, i had been in the pool since August. After 2 consecutive draws between November and December, i finally got ITA on 19th December and that was the last draw of the year 2019. My crs was 470 and draw was 469.
POF for family of 5 was challenging as we had committed our funds to real estate since we had no travel plans. Thank God for family and friends. They came through for us. I submitted application on 6th february 2020. Then covid happened and everything came to a stop. I called IRCC, i emailed, i cried, I prayed, i fasted. No response. I got tired of webforms and gcms notes..
PPR came like a thief in the night on 7th february 2022 exactly 2 years after. I practically screamed. I was overjoyed.
We sent passports to Cairo on 9th february 2022. Passports were returned with COPR on 3rd March. We started packing our bags. We did a lot of shopping as we had 10 luggage spaces and i wanted to use up the luggage allowance. We booked Ethiopian airlines for 11th April. Family and friends were with us at departure. There were tears of joy.
Food and in-flight entertainment was ok, not superb. It was a long flight. We stopped over at Addis Ababa and Dublin. We finally arrived Toronto 2pm of 12th April. The immigration queue was terribly long. Inspite of a 4hour layover time in Toronto, we missed our flight to Winnipeg but were lucky to get another flight. (Please if your final destination is not Toronto, ensure you book a flight with a longer layover in Toronto. A 4 hour lay over may not be enough).
We landed in Winnipeg at 7pm just before an awaited snowstorm and headed straight to an airbnb which we had booked earlier.
I am gradually settling in. I am still trying to come to terms with the time difference. It's a whopping 7hours between Nigeria and Canada.
I am glad to be here. It's home to me and it's worth every bit of my push, sacrifice and effort. I love the elementary and middle schools. The facilites are top-notch. I had an overwhelming sense of fulfilment the first day i accompanied my kids to school. I love the people of Canada, especially Manitoba. They are very kind and welcoming. I love the sérénity and the calm. Will i do this again if i have to? Yes! |

Thanks a lot! Will try these tips Upwego: I have gotten through twice in 2weeks and one thing I would suggest is to start trying from 5mins before 12 and by 11:58 you should be at the final prompt, at this time keeping pressing 9 to repeat the message with your eyes on the clock till it is 12 on the dot and press 0. Also you might want to consider a stronger internet connection. I noticed I got through when I used my mobile network compared to wifi. All the best |

I had me medicals done whilst pregnant. At QLife, they will give you 2 options; either to use double lead jacket for extra protection or wait and do medicals after she has given birth. I chose the double lead option to reduce the long wait! I did the xray and went ahead to have my babies without complications.
Good morning All,
We have been asked to do remeds however my wife is 17 weeks pregnant. My concern is the X-ray exam, is there an exception for her since its a remedical and she has done X-ray in the previous medical. What is the X-ray done to detect and can another test be done to check this?
From my research online, it seems if we don't want to have the X-ray due to possible negative impact on the baby, we will have to have the baby first and then wait to add to our profile.
Any response will be greatly appreciated.[/quote] |
