Honeydenz: Of course I get the economics. After hospital bill has battered someone, to expect them to know pay loads of money to keep the corpse "pretty" when people never chop is over demanding. So yeah I get that demand to meet basics first. But it would be nice if we start incorporating aesthetics on the corpses. Some of them look drier than stock fish 3 Likes |

Tombrown3: Well it's a case of market forces (demand vs supply). Nigerians are very price sensitive and will almost always go for a cheaper option if they have a choice. Consider that it is often cheaper to store a corpse for a few months in the rainy season (when the roads are bad) than to embark on a long journey during the rains, transporting the corpse home. So there is a tendency to "over preserve" the body by using excess (cheap) formalin 3 Likes |
Health / Re: I Visited The Morgue Unprepared by airsaylongcome: 3:03pm On Mar 12 |
Tombrown3: I wish I knew! Old embalming techniques possibly. The fluids used with the newer techniques are also more expensive |

Omihanifa: You know that inside that carton are some of the most expensive leak proof metal caskets available right? So no, they were not brought inside carton. They were brought inside leak proof metal caskets. They were not "placed on the floor" they were placed on material handling equipments for safe transportation without hurting humans 5 Likes |

DIVINEEVIDENCE: Ah, if it's those ones then yeah you are right, they keep the natural complexion to a large degree. To be honest though, I have come across one very good mortuary in Lagos. High end though. Went to see a corpse there for identification and the person looked like they were sleeping 7 Likes |
Health / Re: Stop Using Tissue Paper To Wipe Your Nyash After Poo, Always Use Water . by airsaylongcome: 1:36pm On Mar 12 |
atiku4President: Yes na. Primarily because I use a high pressure handheld bidet. But even for those that use hands, a proper wash with an antiseptic soap and top off with santiser should get the hands in good sanitary condition for eating. Note: I did not say they should wash the canal opening with antiseptic soap as that is highly discouraged because it kills of the fauna there. Plain water to wash the bum, then ANTISEPTIC soap and water to wash the hands. Or plain water if using a bidet |
Health / Re: I Visited The Morgue Unprepared by airsaylongcome: 1:34pm On Mar 12 |
DIVINEEVIDENCE: Not sure of their formulation. But yes the bodies become blacker than coal the way they embalm here. Also note that most of the overseas corpses you have seen have mostly already been made up before you get to see them. Unless you have worked in their morgues and have seen them prior to make up. I really wish I knew why we get in screwed here. Possibly because we haven't put it down to an exact science here. I remember watching my first embalming here in Nigeria at 13. Two incisions, one at the neck and one at the thigh near the groin. The surgeon was very exact in the quantity of embalming fluid pumped to the head, the torso, and the legs. Unfortunately I don't remember his combination of formalin and phenol. But I've always been intrigues about embalming since then 1 Like |

descartes400: Not if it is set to the right pressure. Mine is set to a fairly comfortable pressure that will flush anything. Most people install theirs without a pressure injection so it trickles and they think that's how all bidets are 1 Like |

The way we embalm with formalin in this country is very horrible. I've seen some really gross embalment done by half assed mortuary attendants (obviously not trained morticians). 42 Likes 1 Share |

Lol. The "juju" is in the numbers. Ask him what his weekly sales target are. None. What strategies has he implemented to drive sales? How many repeat customers has he got? How much do they spend per transaction? How many of his previous customers have not bought from him in the last say one month? Why haven't they bought? How is he keeping tabs with them and trying to extract more sales from them? What are his selling costs? How can he reduce those? Business is war. Methodical war. You have to be merhodical in your strategy to win 13 Likes 2 Shares |
