Politics / Why National Security Adviser, Monguno Is Threatening The Life Of EFCC Boss, Baw by AishaYesufu: 1:49pm On Jun 16, 2021
The National Security Adviser, Babagana Mungono has been fingered as one of the high profile Nigerians threatening the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, a source told SaharaReporters.

The action might not be unconnected to the wider probe into the finances of the Office of the NSA by the EFCC.

Bawa had on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme, on Tuesday claimed he had been receiving death threats since he became the chairman of the anti-corruption agency.

“Last week, I was in New York, as all Nigerians are aware of. A very senior citizen received a phone call from somebody that is not even under investigation. What the caller said to him on the phone is that; he is going to kill the EFCC chairman,” he said.

“He said, ‘I am going to kill him. I am going to kill him’. This is to tell you how bad it is. It is actually real. Corruption can fight back.” See Also News Some People Want Me Dead Because I’m EFCC Boss—Anti-Corruption Agency Boss, Bawa Says

In February 2021, the 40-year-old law enforcer was named as the new EFCC chairman to replace Ibrahim Magu, the former acting chairman of the anti-graft commission.

A source in the EFCC however told SaharaReporters that Bawa was referring to Monguno.

“The man he was referring to is Monguno, the current NSA. He is after Bawa’s life because of the investigation of Brigadier-General Jafaru Mohammed, the former Director of Finance and Administration in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), who oversaw the movement of money seized in Ikoyi and presently being investigated for looting,” the source said.

SaharaReporters had reported how the anti-graft agency on March 11, 2021, obtained an interim forfeiture order from a Federal High Court in Abuja in respect of some properties allegedly belonging to Mungono but held in a proxy.

In her ruling, Justice Folashade Ogunbanjo granted an ex parte application for interim forfeiture of the assets and properties by the chairman of the EFCC, made on March 9.

The court ordered the publication of the interim forfeiture of the assets linked to a former Director of Finance in the Office of the NSA, Brigadier-General Jafaru Mohammed, and invited people “who may have interest in the assets and properties listed in the schedule to show cause, within 14 days of such publication, why a final order of forfeiture to the Federal Government of Nigeria of the said assets and properties should not be made.”

The assets traced to the proxies and associates of the General include House on Plot 7, God’s Own Estate, Road 1, Wamna District, Abuja; a fenced plot at No 1 Jubril Aminu Crescent, Katampe Extension, Abuja; plot at Kubwa Express, Directly opposite Abuja Model City Gate, Abuja; and a house on Block SD 22 House 2, Road 5, Kabusa Garden Estate, Abuja.

Others are No 15, 21 Crescent, 2nd Avenue, Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja; No 3 Liverpool Close, Sun City Estate, Abuja; No 52 Mainstreet, Sun City Estate, Abuja; and No 25 Osaka Street, Sun City Estate, Abuja.

However, a security source had told SaharaReporters that Mohammed as the Director of Finance and Administration in the office of the NSA allegedly carried out many errands on behalf of Monguno.

“It is not a secret that the NSA had a confidante in the Director of Finance, who used proxies on the instruction of his boss to acquire those properties. It was a very close-knitted deal in the sense that it would be difficult to trace any of these properties to them.

“But with this move by the EFCC, it shows they might have some credible information at their disposal,” the source had said.

He alleged that some top hierarchy in the Nigerian security architecture reported Monguno to President Buhari over the way he and Mohammed fleeced the coffers of the ONSA.

The source said, “The NSA is very skilled in presenting the holier-than-thou attitude in the public. But in truth, I think the rot in the ONSA under him is worse than that of Sambo Dasuki (ex-NSA boss). Monies were spirited out recklessly, and this prompted the military hierarchy then as it was to effect some changes in the ONSA.

“This saw to the transfer of several officers including the Director of Finance, Brigadier-General Jafaru Mohammed; the Special Assistant to the NSA, Colonel AA Ibrahim and the Director Legal Intercept, SS Shehu by the army hierarchy sometime in 2020 as a means to bring sanity into the ONSA which was excessively abused.”

Another top security source further corroborated this position when he stated that the NSA and his former Director of Finance and Administration indeed committed some infractions that went unnoticed by the EFCC under Ibrahim Magu.

“I am aware that this was one of the things that worked against the confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as the EFCC Chairman because the Department of State Services got wind of the dealings and subsequently made sweeping arrest that were at some point toned down because of the issues it would generate in the public,” he had said.

“This new development is therefore not surprising as most of us saw it coming with the way and manner the NSA and the director of finance and administration almost ran down the ONSA. I can assure you that those properties would be forfeited to the federal government as none of them would come forward to claim ownership.

“The NSA was cut to size when he attempted to get approval for arms purchase from third party sources against the government directive of the country-to-country transaction in arms purchase. This deal was leaked by one of the former service chiefs who ensured that the president was briefed and the NSA was subsequently rebuked. Since then, there has been no love lost between them and the NSA, who uses any opportunity to launch scathing attacks on the tenure of the former service chiefs.”

An EFCC source told SaharaReporters that preliminary investigations revealed that the properties were held in proxy for Monguno.

“Those properties were acquired by the former Director of Finance and Administration in the ONSA acting on instruction from Monguno. We were able to trace the deal and all those whose names were used on behalf of the NSA.

“There is every likelihood that the court would eventually grant a final forfeiture to the federal government, which would indeed be a welcome development,” the source said.

Good boy.
Firstly, I'm not in the business of pleasing any gender, if you've seen my other threads, you would know. You can't use my personal opinion on a particular topic to judge my entire personality.

In your mind, you think you are an Alpha Male? grin. Come lemme teach you how to game.

I will not dignify you with another reply.
Typical of simps, always giving explanation for simping.

A woman must give up her father's name for husband's name to show that she is now of same identity with her husband through marriage. Together as couple they start a new family, with their children taken their father's name.

Family / Re: Abandoned By Children, Rejected By In-laws, Widowed Ex-banker Rots In Penury by AishaYesufu: 6:44pm On Jun 14, 2021
The woman is simply wicked for spilling lies against her children and in-laws just to seek sympathy despite the evil she did to them decades ago.

She abandoned her children at childhood

She abandoned her late husband when he was sick to his death.

She neither attended nor participated in the burial of her husband.

She didn't mourn him as well.

She not only abandoned her children at childhood for their grandparents, she also arrested her son on trumped up charge and imprisoned him.

She followed "men" when she was "balling" as a banker and even had child for one of them, while watching her own child push cart.

Despite these evils,

1. She lied that she was abandoned by her children after she educated them in the BEST SCHOOLS, which is false!

2. She lied that her in-laws abandoned her for her refusal to marry her late husband's brother, which is false.

3. She lied that she singlehandedly buried hwr late husband, which is false.

In all these, she gave FAKE apology thinking it would make her sins washed away.

Honestly, she is only reaping the reward of her evil deeds! She should stop lying, especially at this old age, seek true repentance from Christ and change her ways. I wish her well!

The Children and in-laws should be careful with such a character

Family / Re: Please Help I Need Advice!!! How Do I Ask My Father For Forgiveness From This by AishaYesufu: 6:33pm On Jun 14, 2021
Your father failed his duty as a father. For a father to even exchange abusive words with his son shows that lacks respect for himself! And for a son (you) to exchange abusive words with your father shows that you lack both respect and home training.

The Solution is simple, seeks forgiveness with yourself, humble yourself before your father and plead for his mercy. Promise never to disrespect him or any elderly person and live to your promise.

MEANWHILE: Have it at the back of your mind that words said can never be unsaid. Your father will never forget your words
Family / Re: Is It Proper For A Wife To Maltreat The Husband by AishaYesufu: 6:27pm On Jun 14, 2021
IyaTola:
Is it proper for a wife to maltreat the husband in the event that he is no longer working?

A 56 yrs old man, married with 3 kids is currently being maltreated by the wife.

The man was retrenched due to the covid pandemic, he was laid off and paid some money, he use the money to buy a Corolla and started an Uber business with a weekly payment 25k, the wife opened the account and the money goes to the account the wife opened.

A few months ago, he was paid his retirement benefits as at today the money is about 900k and I asked how come, he said," my wife is with his atm card, if I requests for money she usually ask what do I need money for since I am longer working. A weekly stipend of 1k is given to meweekly, in some instances if there is an argument, I don't get the 1k money weekly in addition to no food for the week".

He said," I am living like a prisoner, my calls are being monitored & recoded by wife, my ATM cards are with her, I am at her whimps and caprices. My second daughter is the one that gives me =N=1,500 monthly upon collecting her salary'. Even worsening the situation she has instigated the my first daughter and last born against me.

He further said, " my wife has gone out to the saloon since 10:00am this morning, the time is 6:25pm she is not back.
I married her when she as a full-time house wife, I paid for her to go to teachers college so that she will be able to get a teacher job, to this day, I don't know how much my wife earns but she knows how much I earn, even after that I opened a shop for her, till today how the shop closed down is what I don't know".

What are you thoughts?
The man is an irredeemable simp! This is how most simps end up!

This kind of man is the type that glorify and worship women. If you tell him to man up, he will accuse you of being unfair to women. He deserves his reward for stupidity!

Politics / Democracy Day: A People-centric Concept Of Governance By Prof Eleka by AishaYesufu: 8:06pm On Jun 12, 2021
First and foremost, I want to say a big congratulations to all Nigerians for twenty-two ( 22 ) years of uninterrupted democratic governance in our country from 1999 to date. This is worth being noted when we remember the dark military days and an urge to be more democratic. Democracy like President Abraham Lincoln said is "Government of the people, by the people, and for the people". It is about how instituted Government has made better the lives of the people.

This was the hallmark of the June 12, 1993 election, championed by Chief M.K.O Abiola in his "Farewell to Poverty" manifesto. I still remember that period; it was a beacon of hope before that light was struck dead by General Ibrahim Babangida.

Hence as we celebrate 'Democracy Day' today, June 12, in honour of the sacrifices, and blood of our compatriots, who have made today possible, we must tell ourselves the hard truth. The question we need to ask ourselves is: Since democracy is about the people, are the people faring better in this Government today?

This is a question that keeps me up at night and has always motivated me to offer myself to serve humanity to do more for our people. We can't shy away from facts. We can't celebrate in blindness. We can't rejoice in agony. We can't let down the sacrifices of our founding fathers and compatriots.

We can't rejoice in a half-baked democracy. Statistics from the World Data Lab suggests that as the World Poverty capital today with massive unemployment in Nigeria, we will still have extremely poor people by 2030.

This highlights our failure in education, human capital development, affordable quality health care, infrastructural development and agricultural plans.

This is also seen from the spillover effect of weak institutions, politicising the electoral body, censoring of free speech (seen in the Twitter ban), disunity among the people among other bad occurrences in our country.

This crystal clear failure of governance means democracy has a long way to go in Nigeria for meaningful and true celebration. Therefore on June 12 Democracy Day, I am calling for sincere leadership and people-oriented policies, statements, and programmes that will ensure adequate care for the welfare of the people. This is the hallmark of democracy.

Government at all levels of governance must be awake to their responsibilities, else they risk the people's revolution.

To fellow citizens of this country and my dear people of Ekiti State, don't be demoralized by the recent happenings of misgovernance and maladministration of the APC-led government.

At this time, we must not be forgetful of these undeserved sufferings, anguish, insecurity, poverty, high prices of foodstuffs, truncation of basic human decency and destruction of our fundamental human rights.

We must remember and as a people, we must convert such remembrance to chase out at the poll the government of multidimensional failures at all levels which reeks poverty of leadership. Only then can democracy be for us, the people, as seen in the quality of our lives.

However, as democratic people, let us be law-abiding and be our brother's keepers. Together we shall prevail. Together, we will win. Together, we will build a peaceful and prosperous country for ourselves and our children and their children.

Happy Democracy Day...Keep Hope alive.

God bless you.
God bless Ekiti State.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Politics / EKITI PDP Chairman Move To Suspend Woman Leader After His Aide Assaulted Her by AishaYesufu: 12:36pm On Jun 10, 2021
The move the chairman of Ekiti state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, Otunba Bisi Kolawole, to suspend Mrs Bola Owolabi, the women leader of ward 9 of Ado-Ekiti local government area chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, has caused chaos in the state party chapter.

Mrs Owolabi, a grassroot mobiliser, has been a target of Chief Bisi Kolawole over her refusal to support his 2022 gubernatorial ambition.

The woman leader, who has been a subject of persecution and bullying over her refusal to support Chief Kolawole, was brutally assaulted by one Tosin Adebayo, an aide of Chief Kolawole, during a ward meeting of the party earlier this week.

While angry party members expect the party's leadership to discipline Tosin Adebayo, who works directly with Kolawole's director of strategy, Deji Ogunsakin, the party state working committee, which Chief Kolawole chairs, has shockingly moved to suspend her instead. This was made known through a leaked memo that was posted on E16, the official platform of Ekiti state PDP executives.

Furthermore, it was discovered that in his bid to actualise the suspension of Mrs Owolabi, Kolawole is relying on old lists of executives rather than the incumbent executives, which is forgery under Nigerian law.

There have been series of accusations by members of the party at all level of intimidation by Kolawole, who publicly and privately vowed to use his position as the chairman of the party in the state to crush opposition to his ambitions.

Reacting to the development, a spokeswoman for women group in the state that spoke with our correspondent on condition, described the action of Chief Kolawole and Fayose as sad, pathetic and setback against the voice of women. She also promised to relate the development to her chairperson so that the group will come up with official position.

Furthermore, party members from Ado-Ekiti area have vowed to resist the suspension move.

Politics / The Cost Of Suspending Twitter By Oke Umurhohwo by AishaYesufu: 3:08pm On Jun 09, 2021
It finally happened. Nigerians who are fond of the microblogging platform, Twitter, may no longer be able to do so on their devices as the federal government restricted access to its usage. According to Information and Culture Minister, Lai Muhammed, the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is suspending Twitter's operation in the country indefinitely.

On why the government took that action, Lai Muhammed cited "the persistent use of the platform for activities capable of undermining Nigeria's corporate existence." On the surface, the decision sounds good and necessary but further interrogation will provide a picture quite contrary to the narrative being pushed by the government.

Of truth, people like Nnamdi Kanu are an anomaly to civil engagements and should have no platform to share nasty thoughts, however, making his unruly and violent rhetorics the basis for suspending Twitter in Nigeria, is exaggerating his wave of influence and unwittingly giving undue recognition to his secessionist group.

That is why it is hard to dismiss the arguments that the government's decision to suspend Twitter's operation in the country was a 'knee-jerk reaction to the social media company's removal of Buhari's controversial tweet a few days earlier. It is 'knee-jerk' in the sense that the suspension portrayed the government as hostile to moderation and would sacrifice the interest of millions for few.

As at the time that the suspension directive was made, more than 40 million Twitter accounts are linked to Nigerians. Of those figures, a huge number of young persons are engaged by corporate organisations and other categories of the society for brand promotion and communication. But they may no longer have a job and join the growing list of unemployed Nigerians with the restrictions placed on Twitter.

The story may not be different for a large number of Nigerians who use Twitter to connect with customers for their products and services. It is just a mess and anyone observant enough to know how Nigeria got to the terrible state of insecurity and restiveness, would get worried at the possibility of any young Nigerian losing means of livelihood.

Having 33.3% of the population unengaged is a nightmare already, and it will be a poor attempt on the part of this government to run away from her responsibility and heap the blame of the distressing situation of the country on social media or zero it on Twitter. A government desirous of solution will not take steps that would rid young people of their various means of survival.

On a day-to-day basis, millions of Nigerians access Twitter for information and also to exchange thoughts on the state of affairs of the country. That is a fundamental right the Constitution guarantees them but the suspension of that platform takes that away from them. That was undemocratic to a lot of Nigerians, however, worse is the message it sent to the outside world, especially investors.

This was reflective in the reaction of the US Mission in Nigeria to the suspension of Twitter. Aside from recognising that the action "undermines" Nigerians ability to exercise their fundamental rights to freedom of expression, it added that the restriction "sends a poor message to its citizens (Nigerians), investors and businesses."

If the statistics of Netblocks.org, a mapping internet freedom platform, is anything to go by, the implication of Twitter restriction may have cost the country's economy N2.1billion in just 24 hours. But more worrying is the impression it could weigh on foreign investors, which may bear on foreign direct investment (FDI) into the country. That would not be good for our fragile economy still battling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Twitter is one platform that helped Nigerians connect, and most times serves as an emergency hotline for a lot of Nigerians. Whether to provide feedback to the government or seek intervention, Twitter is a platform that serves Nigerians a lot. In May when Iniobong Umoren who had honoured a job interview got missing, Twitter was used to call attention and eventually, find her killer.

So, it does a lot for the over 40 million users in the country, and it will be selfish to ignore them just to get at Twitter for removing Buhari's tweet that he should never have written in the first place. The cost of suspending Twitter is huge and hopefully, Buhari and his team will have a rethink and lift the restriction on the social media giant app.

Politics / Attend Ekiti Youth Conference, State PDP Youth Leader Charges Party Youths by AishaYesufu: 2:26pm On Jun 07, 2021
Ekiti State PDP Youth Leader, Aare Olalekan Amerijoye has called on various youth groups, associations, organisations, bodies and clubs in Ekiti State to participate in the Youth Conference organised by the Independent Democratic Elite Association(IDEA),in collaboration with Ekiti PDP young stakeholders.

He made the call in a letter written to the different groups.

Aare Amerijoye noted that the programme with the theme “Youths in Politics- Ekiti State in Perspectives” is billed to come up on 30th June,2021.

The PDP youth leader said it would be wrong for anybody to start assuming that youth were incapable of putting things right in PDP or that gathering could pose any threat, saying he never subcribe to such .

He explained that it was better to have young male and female stakeholders and great minds PDP coming together to discuss issues that would be impactful in achieving great success for the Party in future elections.

The letter forwarded by, Aare Olalekan Amerijoye also contained the following.

How old was late Obafemi Awolowo,H.O. Davies,Oba Akinsaya ,Nnamdi Azikiwe,Eyo Ita when they formed Nigeria Movement to make things go better in their youthful age for their country. So to say ,we are all eminently qualified for the pioneering role of a new generational stakeholders in our great Party in Ekiti State, neither age nor status is our barrier, obviously speaking, nothing is actually our barrier. It will be wrong when we falter when this right step is being taken, though it is also considered as matter of individual right for being entitled to one decision and choice.

The Youth Conference coming up on 30th June of this year required our concerted efforts and we must regard ourselves as crusaders in a new cause to enthrone this Party back to power.

At the same time, we meant by example in truthfulness, honesty and fairness appeal and encourage all the young stakeholders in all governorship aspirants camps to join us in the marathon race ,we wish to ideologically intuned ourselves and racing against the clock in bringing the glory of this Party back.

Great young stakeholders,we need not to be alarmed that this our coming together could be misconstrued in some quarters, especially the unenlightened minds ;but it is enough if it borne in our minds that working for unity, progress and success of our Party, is our ultimate goal and we must begin forthwith to take steps which would ensure the speedy attainment of this end. This could be done, even though when being mindful of the political brinkmanship that is dominating the affairs of the Party.

For the past few weeks, you must have been inundated by all sorts of banters being thrown at me just because I decided to free myself from subjection. Latest is their plans to remove me as the State Youth Leader of our great Party. But I ask myself;do I need to be a State Youth Leader to be extremely active in the Party?

In fact,I would be left free of the ethical handcuffing that the position required and freely galvanise young stakeholders in Ekiti State for a noble course to rejig our Party and chart a new social order.

They are foolishly requesting that something should be done urgently as regards my age as the State Youth Leader. Perhaps you could recall, that in the history of Ekiti State Youth Leaders, I am one of the youngest State Youth Leader and even ever youthful in interactions.

Out of the present State Youth Leaders of the Party throughout the federation, more than twenty are older than me. You would agree with me, that they are only toying with what will open a pandora box. Help me ask them. What is the age of the Local Government Youth Leaders in Ekiti State? Even some Ward Youth Leaders are above forties. I have done this stactistics for quite a while and get prepared ahead.

I was one of those who canvassed for the age of the Youth Leaders to be explicitly specified in the constitution of the Party as thirty five in the last National Conference of the People Democratic Party Youth Leaders and it will be my joy to see it being in operational.

We all also canvassed at the Conference in Abuja that fee of the nominations forms should be free or reduced for youths contesting in any of the various political positions. A recommendation bought into by Senator Bukola Saraki Reconciliation Committee and they are so committed in having both recommendations encapsulated in the Party’s constitution.

The prisoners as described by Plato,in their indiocy think it is everybody that could be intimidated or subjugated like them. Not an ideologue like me, when you repress me I get more determined. Right from my teenage I had been well fortified in ideaology of egalitarianism and the principle of fairness I always have my disposition.

I have decided not to engage them again in the official platform of the Party and that is temporary, I do not want to appear uncontrollable to the worthy leaders of this Party who have been persistently telling me to ingnore them. In the meantime I will not engage them in any outburst. You know they are only good in the official platform of the Party.I would not engage them again in their loop, taking to the advice of the political veterans in the Party. It is only in the official PDP platform in which they have decorated with pseudo accounts and personalities that they exhibit fallacious dominance.

Engage them outside the official PDP platform and the platforms they are not the one operating or platform they do not operate proxies, they fall yakata and like dog with its tails between its legs begin to throw stickers, even in official PDP platform throwing stickers is their stock in trade and abusing all leaders that they do not see toeing their political hue or line of disposition. Yet ,much as I want to impress it on you all ,that it is needless we engage them in exchange of banters, it would be great advantage if we prepare our minds that there could be mountaineous challenges that may militate against this process of making this Party virile but the greatest problem is our fractious nature that we hardly aggregate ourselves to form a united front working towards plausible goals.

If our togetherness is secured,I doubt if there could be any inability to tackle any human challenge that we may face in the course of being an effective vehicles for the progress of this Party of ours and also be an active players to ensure not only the coming back of the Party to power but our continuous relevance in the scheme of events.

Therefore, let me say this; that willy nilly the Youth Conference will hold,if that would be the beginning of activities in this Party, good for it. As young stakeholders of our Party we are eminently qualified to initiate a process that will bring everybody together to discuss issues and even initiate a process that will bring our leaders together, as the next election is just a year to come.

Ordinarily, as the State Youth Leader;one of the Party constitutionally specified functions of my position in section 44(1b) is to initiate and implement strategic programmes and policies aimed at at endearing the Party to the Ekiti Youth and ,in the final analysis Nigeria youth. But of course you know that, the idea of this programme is initiated and powered by the Independent Democratic Elite Association (IDEA), in collaboration with young stakeholders in our Party and which I take great delight to be involved, not just as the State Youth Leader of the Party, but Aare Amerijoye DOT.B. an individual who derives much sactifaction and joy in partaking in lofty goals and as individuals we are all at liberty to be involved as section 40 of the Nigeria’s constitution specified our right to peaceful assembly and association.

However,I need to appreciate all the young stakeholders of our great Party, for their unflinching and unalloyed support. You know, they have done a lot and written a lot to put a wedge between me and you all, working on our psychologies and minds to tactically pitch us against one another.

They are struggling hard to make the governorship aspirants in our great Party disinterested in the programme and doing serious mind game to destablise us. I must commend the intellectual resistance of all of you , the young stakeholders ,in deoxygenating the fallacious tactics they are employing to make us fractious.

Have you not asked yourself why are they against our coming together? There is something that our coming together will bring and they are terribly afraid, frightful and getting nightmarishing every day about it.

Obviously speaking,Ekiti Youth Conference initiated and powered by the Independent Democratic Elite Association (IDEA) is an Idea that has come to stay and it will be encompassing. But ever courageous young stakeholders of our great Party, great businesslike, clear headed and ever agile what we need do now,I mean all of us who believe things should be done properly in the Party for our coming together is sine qua non, we need to play our part well. Since history exists for those men and women who confront their time by defying the limitations of their society and doing the right things at the right time, even though not convenient, for them ;posterity has stood in salute of men and women, who came ,saw and conquered. Why do not we play our roles.

Politics / EXCLUSIVE: Governor Atiku Bagudu Of Kebbi State Attacked By Angry Youths. by AishaYesufu: 12:09pm On Jun 06, 2021
Following the genocide in the village of Gaya an outskirt of Unashi, Ribah, in Danko Wasagu Local Government of Kebbi, where Bandits attacked and operated non stop killing about 100 persons and injuring hundreds while thousands were displaced, the governor of kebbi state, Sen. Atiku Bagudu visited the village on 5th June 2021 a day after the genocide, OBSERVERS TIMES exclusively gathered.

The governor arrived in a aeroplane in zuru air field in the afternoon, from there, he drove on his motorcade and entourage to Ribah and moved straight to the village of Gaya to console the victims. He tarried in the village for about an hour or more making speeches and appealing to the villagers to stay calm, promising aid to the victims and also pledging to deploy more security agents to secure the villages.

After his condolence visitation, the governor and his entourage started their journey back home but this time around something unusual happened. On reaching to Waje a village before Ribah, the Governor stumbled on a large crowd of Youths who blocked his way and started shouting at him. The protesting youths burnt tires and some were seen exchanging words with the governor’s security escorts. The angry youths blocked the bridge connecting waje village to Ribah which happens to be the only passage the governor most use to return to Zuru before taking off to birnin kebbi. After some delay, the soldiers escorting the governor started shooting guns to scare the crowd and make way for the governor. Police threw teargas at the youths which provoked them further, making some of them to start throwing stones on the cars escorting the governor.

According to the eye witnesses, who confided in OBSERVERS TIMES, the angry youths were saying that the governor is insensitive to their plight and responsible for the escalation of the security challenges which have claimed the lives of hundreds of people and also displaced hundreds of villages. One young simply identified as Ibrahim said ” the governor disarmed our local vigilantee, intimidate and demoralized them. He his government also arrested some of their leaders and they are still holding them in detention but with all the atrocities and incessant killings of our people by the armed herdsmen, non of them is arrested not to talk of detention. The governor is the one that weakened our local defence and all he could do now is to pay condolence visits, make promises as usual and leave after which the Bandits will return and kill more people. There is conspiracy against our people and nobody will stop us from protesting”

Another protester was heard saying” even in America they protest against bad government, protest is a fundamental human right” he continued “why are his soldiers shooting guns at us ? why can’t they go and face the Bandits? Why waxing muscles on the innocent and armless protesters! He should resign if he can not protect the lives of people he has sworn to do”

After the incidence in Waje, the governor meet another angry mob in Ribah Town and in response to the shooting of guns and throwing teargas to make way for the governor by his security aids, the protesting youths started throwing objects at the vehicles conveying the governor breaking down the glasses of almost all the cars. It was also gathered that one Hilux truck was burnt down by the mob.

There is anger, fear and anxiety across the villages in Kebbi South and most especially, Danko Wasagu Local Government. Thousands have already been displaced and made homeless. The massive influx or exodus of migrants villagers to the major towns of zuru Emirate have already created a serious humanitarian emergency situation. People are being killed on daily basis leaving the survivors wandering from one town to the other with no food and a place to sleep. Aged persons , women and children are the most affected, starvation have already set in and many are facing serious health challenges and this will not be unconnected to malnutrition faced by the victims. The government of the day have failed woefully in all ramifications and dimensions hence the people are now demanding to be allowed to secure their lives without the interference or hindrance by the government. They complained that by disarming, intimidating, arresting and demoralizing the local vigilantee members called Yan Sakai, the government of the day have made it easier for Bandits to be doing what they are doing to them today. Anger and frustrations are understatement to describe the present feelings of the people of Zuru emirate and it’s seems the youths are now ready to face the situation regardless of the implications.

” If we have one third of the guns these Bandits are holding, they can not stand us or face us. The only advantage Bandits have over us are guns, if not on a physical combat I can kill ten of them. There are also people among us that are betraying us and they have been working very hard to make sure that we don’t defend ourselves, they are the ones giving ill advice to the governor, we know them, they pretend as if they are worried but in reality they are the enablers of the terrorism that have befallen us” one young man was also heard saying

Politics / Natforce's Legal Framework Being Put Together - DG. Dr Baba Mohammed by AishaYesufu: 4:46pm On Jun 05, 2021
The Director General of the National Taskforce on illegal Arms, Ammunitions and Light Weapons, Dr. Baba Mohammed has explaned that the legal framework of the agency is undergoing processes at the parliament in order to deepen their activities.

He said, the challenge of inflow of illegal weapons into the country was obvious which calls for an agency like NATFORCE specifically saddled with the responsibility of going after carriers of illegal weapons and transnational gun runners.

Dr. Mohammed spoke at an award event on Thursday in Abuja, saying the agency was more than ready to ensure that there was control of illegal importation of arms and ammunition and light weapons into the country with a view to ensuring there is peace.

He was reacting to the earlier speech of the Secretary General of Commonwealth Society, Prince Musa Abutu, who stressed that the Commonwealth has observed the agency's effort at tackling gun runners with the short time, the DG mounted the saddle.

Dr Baba thanked God almighty for making such an auspicious day possible, saying, "as you are all aware, the commonwealth society of Nigeria like other member countries is actually committed to ensuring that there is peace all over the world.

"And that, the award, goes to confirm also that from their own studies, from my own antecedent and what we have been doing in the past and what we promise to do going forward in life and through this agency (National Taskforce of Nigeria) that I provide leadership at the moment as the Director General, I am out to ensure that we control illegal importation of arms and ammunition and light weapons into the country with a view to ensuring there is peace.

He further added that, the award goes to confirm that, the group have "endorsed what Mr President is out to do in this country; to eliminate illegal arms, light weapons and ammunition into this country."

The DG added dispelled fears that NATFORCE was out to take the job of an agency in this country noting his agency would rather complement other agencies of government.

"We exist to fill the gaps that have been identified today as far as illegal arms and ammunition is concerned.

He added that the role of the agency is supportive and that the agency has been collaborating with other sister agencies.

The DG stated that, ECOWAS is fully in support of the agency but that, they need legal and regulatory framework design for them to continue their work which is why they had to approach the National Assembly to pass the NATFORCE bill andbit has passed through second reading.

In his closing remarks, the DG tasked Nigerians to always do the right thing and promised that, under his leadership, a penny wouldn't be taken from any Nigerian which service the agency wish to engage.

As they strive to mop up arms, he said, the agency would be strictly professional while asking merchants of illegal weapons to think twice henceforth.
