Well, I used to have the same line of thought like you, until I realized that without good security and those wars putting off enemies, the homeless won't even have the bridges to sleep under. We'd all be at war. Well, unless you want us all to just crash in this damn country together.
I don't I agree with that line of thought. We know the benefits of certain government programs, and those can be regarded as essential. The mentality in the US is different and because of the violent gun culture war is seen as essential to their existence. If one does not come, they will create it because some industries rely on these in order to continue to exist. Ordinary health insurance, these people in government do not want to provide for the masses. Poverty in America is real and crude. Unlike in Nigeria, it's every man for himself and don't count on some family members or friend. And worst of all some of the homeless may have a criminal record which limits their chances of securing employment. For these people, life on the street may be the only option to survive.

$1.5 Billion to explore sun surface when man never see good food chop for this country. Just tell me why being an African is not a curse? Do we really have any purpose here in Africa other than envy, strife, wickedness and evil. Dark continent!
Do not be fooled. If I tell you the number of homeless people on the streets of US cities, you would be alarmed. On the road, under bridge and even close to city centers. Both black and white, but more African Americans. Each time I see an homeless man on the street begging for money I wonder how on earth a country could be giving out billions in aid, spend hundreds of billions on military, and space program but can't afford to take care of all it's people.

Okwaraji was a perfect model of a very selfless Nigerian. His face ought to be on one of our currencies or stamps because what better way to show young Nigerians what it mean to serve your country without expecting anything in return. To him, serving Nigeria was a thing of pride.

Even on the pitch, you could see his level of commitment. Not like now that our players walk around on the pitch as if nothing is at stake. Can't forget that sad sunny afternoon.

Atiku!Atiku!! Atiku!!! How many time do i called you? I have be somehow supporting you but don't bring this madness of I will only rule for 4 years into the show or else I will hate you because it's a lie no Nigeria democratically elected president can be that honourable to step down or quit after 4 years only gej has done the surprise and I will respect him forever for that.

Buhari said more than that but see what the block head buffoon turning himself to so Mr Atiku please keep that 4 years thrash focus on how to send this man called Buhari back to his people first because he is a serious slap to democracy.

Atiku pls first focus on how to send this evil party out of our way for us(apc goats not included pls) to have peace then talk about 4 years or 8 years we shall listen.
You made reference to "only GEJ quitting after 4 years". That's not right. Didn't he contest the election. And was there no arguments within his party that he only promised to run for 4yrs? Conceding defeat to Buhari is not same thing as him quitting after 4 yrs in power. He offered himself for another election even though he already spent about 2-3 years as deputy, 1yr as substantive president after Yardua death, and 4yrs as president. Get these facts right.

Wetin concern MKO Abiola with this issue. If Abiola gave away anything to a woman in return for sex, it was not Nigerian asset but his personal assets. And we all knew him too well. He was never pretentious and did not force himself on people as OBJ, Mr I Know it All. And for MKO, his good deeds outweighed his atrocities. Even with that he got paid back with his own karma for helping to bring down Buhari regime in the 80s. But God has been too patient with OBJ,, the greater evil in Yorubaland.

I think Soyinka should rather look elsewhere and leave this man who has not even got his time.

I am not too sure how an average Nigerian reason these days. The very criminal senate president many of you are supporting has boxed himself into a corner politically with his country-wide electoral value nearing zero. Saraki control does not go beyond the current Senate, and to an extent Kwara, where the natives there are also eager to get rid of him and the Sariki legacy.

lets see all the look connected to Buhari and his Family!
If a UK Prime Minister can use his mouth to claim that a Nigerian President is not corrupt, there is very limited chance that that individual is because the UK government and security agencies have a dossier on foreign leaders. Main issue with Buhari is that he is Nepotistic, slow to act against plunderers who are his kinsmen or members of his close circle, and he allowed the killings of innocent Nigerians by his kinsmen. He caused his own predicament.

Oga what you said is what your likes have been saying for decades since before I was born without any practical solution. So yes your comment remains dumb. You are rehashing inane comments like a broken record.

I am a pragmatist, I don't believe in your usual nigerian way of lamenting and re-lamenting without practical and pragmatic solution. Dividing the unworkable contraption, may be a sin against the memory of lugard the drunk sailor or even Queen Eliza but it is definitely not a sin against God.

It is a practical solution, Go home to your TRUE nations, make your constitution and make amends using your experience in the failed nigerian project. Build and slave for your nations (oduduwa, Biafra, Arewanistan). Many nigerians including me, cannot be patroitic to the contraption, we cannot die for nigeria. An hausas cannot die for Igbo and an Ijaw cannot die for a yorubaman. Stop giving dumb excuse on why the contraption shouldn't be taken apart and for the nationalities trapped in to survive and build viable nations. It's lame.
If you are so angry and ready to break the country up. Go to the market and get yourself a cutlass. Can you even die for a member of the ethnic clan you belong to.? No point exchanging opinion here. Too many immature individuals here.

Mr man, enough of this worn-out lullaby of 'greed and corruption' we've been singing for decades since nigeria was born.

Nigeria's problem is fundamental, dividing nigeria into different stable parts Arewa, Middlebelt, Biafra, Oduduwa will be a gift to humanity. The country is bloated for dumb blacks like you to manage that's why the 'Greed' comes in.

When the country divides, everyone who have experienced hell will go back home, armed with the experience learnt from their 50+ year 'internship' in ill-fated nigeria and with a steely resolve build a new nation and everything nigeria will never be and except they are mor0ns, they succeed. Carry overs in school motivate intelligent people.

Let me give an instance, do you really think Oduduwans or Biafrans will allow politicians to earn 2000 times what the average oduduwan or Biafran earns? given how they suffered so much in the hands of potbellied overfed, fraudulent politicians who enjoyed enabling environment to plunder the country? You see how your 'Greed' excuse have been tackled already.

In the contraption it is safe to say that it legal for politicians to be greedy, your damned nigerian constitution empowers greed.

So don't give me, the usual worn-out excuse of 'corruption and greed'. We all know your damned country have not been really able to fight greed and corruption because the constitution empowers them indirectly.
Dumb? Same issue I was talking about. Go and consult your dictionary to understand the meaning of greed. By then you will understand and know the "children, grand-children, and cousins" of greed. Like an average Nigerian, thinking simple is too much to grip. Only lazy people will be choosing what appear to them as the easy way out but come with no long term benefits. And what do you do with a constitution that empowers greed as you suggest. I am sure your recommendation would be to tear it up.

The internet has made it easy to have all sorts of interaction and discussion with individuals one would normally not converse with. So, next time keep your "dumb" terminology to yourself, young man.

The solution to this problem lies in plain sight.
The country is 700% messed up. nigeria WILL NEVER get better. Everyone will a thinking skull knows that.

The solution is to divide the country, start afresh and apply the lesson learnt from the failed sojourn in ill-fated nigeria. Oduduwa can be better than Nigeria. Biafra can be better than nigeria, Arewanistans will be forced to think with their heads and build a new nation for themselves. They'll be better for it. Neccesity have always been the mother of invention in perilous times.

Divide the contraption, Go home, Use your brain and build a better country. Anyone who wants to do things 'the former nigerian way' in your new country, let him face a firing squad by machine gun. That way you'll gradually eliminate the buffoons who want take you back to hell as you build a prosperous nation.

I swear within 10 years with a new country and new mentality, your new country will blossom, grow and you'll have Americans buying up Advert spaces on your TVs begging you to visit their country.

From today, you must start seeing every pro-nigerian as an enemy of progress. Even if they are your family members. There is nothing progressive about nigeria.

This solution is the fastest way to reclaim your dignity. Nigeria is filled with opposing interests. It can NEVER work.
And I want nigerians banned from obtaining visas, if it will speed up the dissolution of the ill-fated contraption.
You are under an illusion. Even in the opposing interests you referred to there are opposing interests. Greed is Nigeria's problem and it cut across all regions. So, dividing Nigeria into 100 units will not solve the problem if people cannot manage or suppress their "demons".

Arrrrrrghh. I don’t support that oo. What the US needs to do is make a categorical statement that they don’t want Nigerians in their country again. It is a very simple matter. And it is better than robbing people of their hard earned application fees.

We know Nigeria has failed, maybe that’s why Nigerians are being rejected worldwide. The structural problems of the country has to be tackled at some point. We cannot keep being afraid of the violence of the northerners. If southerners can’t leave this failed contraption, we might as well face the notherners war for war and repossess our country.
How many times has Trump referred to Nigeria in a negative way? Has he not said he wants immigrants from Norway rather than Nigeria or Haiti. Is that not enough warning. Go to Canada if you don't want to loose your money. The university system is similar and the standard is equally high.
