For clarity, the constitutional council did it's constitutional duty, to step in after a stipulated time period.
If the CEI had announced its result within the 72 hour period, there wouldn't have been an issue. Note that elections are driven by acts which stipulates certain guidelines and deadlines. Why do you think there are two versions of the electoral act currently in circulation in Nigeria? The reason is there is a deadline for voter registration which is you fall foul of, any elections conducted under it would be null and void.

No matter what happens, you cannot be [b]independent [/b]and [size=14pt]announce result at the campaign headquarters of a candidate[/size]. BTW, how can you then proove that the announced result was genuine?

The election results are not constitutionally void, just that the CEI has lost the authority to declare the results and thus that power now resides with the Constitutional Council.  

If you recall in 1993, the court stopped Prof Nwosu from declaring a winner, not that the results of that election was not known, just that it was not declared. Why this was able to scuttle our democracy was because the electoral act specifically said NECON is the one to declare the result. Anybody or any other institution cannot declare the result.

The question I want to ask is this: Why would the UN Observer be the one to decide who he thinks has won the elections and not Ivorian institutions?

Lets cast our minds back to the US elections of 2000 where Gore won the popular votes but Bush won the electoral college. Would Americans have taken it if the UN Observer should declare Gore the winner since he got the majority votes? The truth is, sovereign states should be accorded their rights.

It was insulting for Sarkozy to issue a 48 hours ultimatum to a country;s President to vacate. As much as I dislike GEJ, if Sarkozy should insult him penren, I would take up arms on his behalf.

Please answer this question, how did Atiku make his money. Please be very clear about it. It is good practice for us to discuss openly those who we want to represent us. How did and ex-customs officer make so much money? Let us learn how to ask simple basic questions about everyone who is looking to go into politics.

Atiku is not an eminent scholar, he is not an intelligent successful businessman, neither is he from a wealthy family. So I am in my right to question, and I mean seriously question his source of income, that will inform me on when I choose who to lead us?

At least in my own opinion, he is more credible than GEJ.

Tell me, is Bill Gates from a wealthy family? Or is Atiku not a successful businessman?

Atiku, his relation, his friend, his distant relations and friends, acquiantances and any entities associated with them cannot buy any of the companies - that is the lack of morals in public service that defines Atiku. And he knows how to wriggle out of it too!!!

I know what happened to the Port Harcourt Refinery - a good reason why Yar'adua carried on a vendetta on OBJ. One of the first things Yar'adua did was rescind the sale of those refineries.

They are all a bunch of thieves!!!!

The above made me laugh quite amusingly. If that were to happen, you'd be selling our commonwealth to foreigners. Pray tell me, which big time industrialist in Nigeria is not an acquaintance of either Atiku or OBJ as of that time?

And for your information, nothing in our constitution or laws precludes the CBN governor from owning shares in a bank in Nigeria while in office! That unfortunately is the law.

You might also want to read up on Tony Blair and the drug importer that financed his political campaign. Do read up the house of commons conclusion on it.

Of all your wrote this is most reprehensible. I hope Atiku didn't send you to write this, since this is like a confession. We know how corruption works in Nigeria. For once I want to put this name calling of Atiku in perspective and I hope you read it with an open mind.

Atiku left the customs service of Nigeria in 1985! That is some 25 years ago. Do you think he has been stagnant since that time? Or you do not have friends that have improved their station in life after leaving their previous jobs?

When Atiku started Intels Oil Services back in the early 90s from a single storey building as a fully indigenous company to compete with the Harliburtons of this world, it was termed preposterous. When he changed the company to fully focus on providing logistics services to the oil companies, it was the only indigenous company providing such services. Thus when the pro-Nigerian and national content started, Intels was well positioned to benefit.

The BPE issue. Prior to Atiku being the head of the BPE that is the 1999 -2003 era, can you tell me which sector the bPE successfully privatized? The example of Nitel that the then BPE headed by El-Rufai took from a N10B revenue company and sold to Pentascope to manage which made a N10B loss by the 2nd year! Compare that to all the companies that were privatized when Atiku became head of BPE. You might have issues with him buying those companies, but know that he also paid the highest for these companies. Ask yourself, if your commonwealth was been sold, would you rather it be sold for $50M or $100M? And to also have the benefit that the companies work.
You might also want to do a small comparison of the state of the companies that Atiku bought vis-a-vis the one that OBJ caused to be sold to his cronies.

Since some of you have heard about the 58 suitcases scandal in Nigeria, you might want to read up about the customs officer that blew the scandal. And while at it, find out why Atiku was retired in 1985. You might be in for some shocking revelation. Don't take my word for it, just read up or find out about it.

And  by this assurance, GEJ himself has tacitly confirmed that zoning exists, and that there is rotation.

This is just the act of a man desperate for power. So is he guaranteeing that he would deliver in 4 years? Eh, he is not even promising anything, so in essence, he just wants to be President.

What I am driving at clearly seems lost on you. If for the sake of support of GEJ, you find nothing wrong with this sharing, the supporters of the other politicians would also use the same logic to support state pilfering. And thus, all of them would be absolved. When people are held accountable, first by their own integrity and then by public demands, the nation moves forward.

What I have is a visa that enables me to move within Europe but not to the UK otherwise I would have visited him too. Believe me, I am not rushing but if a year after proposing to a girl a man is not doing anything towards making the marriage happen, she is right to doubt his interest. Meeting people online is nothing out of the ordinary, contrary to what you may believe. I did not cheat on him as I ended the relationship before joining the site. 2000 x 36 states + 2000 for Abuja = 74,000

Obviously, you lack comprehension. From the states will come over 1500 (with each state contributing), then add the NASS assembly members, you'd get over 2000. That is the meaning of my post and it clearly stated that there are more than 2000 delegates to decide who wins the PDP ticket.

This is against your assertion that the primaries is a waste of time as only a few dozen delegates from the states would decide.  You clearly would lie being Beaf if that would get you support for GEJ.

My guy that assumption is wrong. You need not be very rich to attend universities in those days. Barewa College was the foremost college for the Aristocrats while ABU was the only university. Mind you in their time, university education was virtually free. The situation changed when OBJ came into power and stated his useless policies on education.

Shehu Musa Yar'adua's father was rich, but She Musa Yar'adua was a very rich man. In fact, Yar'adua's declaration when he became President was made up of 40% what he inherited from his brother.

It seems like a strategy and deception by the Chinese to run the power plant by signing an LTSA (Long Term Service Agreement) with FG on completion.

Those who signed that contract should be questioned for incuring losses to the country.
Its unfortunate that the parts in the turbines do not have serial numbers making it difficult to replace.

The Chinese contractor claimed initially that the equipment was totally from General Electrics (Belfort and Schnectady USA) but the ended up supplying turbines made in Nanjing China with GE logo and when asked GE USA claimed that GE Nanjing is their subsidary and they are allowed to use Chinese manuals based on area of operation.

The reality of the situation is that GE USA and GE Nanjing entered into a partnership where GE USA supplies some key parts, while the other major components are manufactured by GE Nanjing in China.Its realy a complicated situation in Olorunshogo that arose due to poor initial contract evaluation process and insincerity of the Chinese Govt who insisted that the project must be awarded to a Chinese company based on the counterpart funding agreement with the FGN (Chinese Govt provided 30% of the funding). It also shows that foreign aid or counterpart funding to Africa is a falacy. No free lunch in London,

Even common using google by an administrative clerk would have the entire manual translated to English in less than a week! Or what happens to us getting one of the Nigerians in the Chinese Embassies that speaks and write Chinese to translate the manuals.

This only shows that this government is inept and would cook up any stories to justify a foolish act.
