After this october 1 case is concluded, yes govt could look at the previous ones, or better still this recent  bombing and the attendant investigation could throw up leads to the previous cases which can be looked at in greater detail, but the call for parrallel investigation into previous cases at this time is laughable.

May be you need to be reminded that OBJ was the president when GEJ's house was bombed or maybe you think GEJ could have ordered for a probe as VP if his boss UMYA was not positively disposed to the idea.
It is your idea of how police or SSS should carry out investigations that is very clearly laughable. So to you the SSS should maintain a queue of cases, solve one then move to the other.

No wonder you support mediocrity.

If this investigation is left unsolved and no culprits caught, its you people that will talk. Now something is being done when evil is perpetrated in Nigeria, and you people are still talking.Na wa for una sef.
I can't believe you wrote the above!
So the SSS cannot know that the court premises is not within the guy's compound or that where the boy was is a private residential place?
Hmmm, so once there is a weighty trial, nobody should make calls? How very inhuman and crass can you be.

This is Nigeria my brother, what if the young boy was there to describe the suspects, do you even realise the weight of this investigation.

Someone may really be interested in knowing who and who the SSS have in custody, the investigation here still involves people the SSS may not know abt, the masterminds may be working on eliminating the direct accomplices of those in custody.

Who says a secondary school student can not be making calls describing the details of the suspects, the SSS may have felt compromised by his position and would need to fully debrief him check who actually he was talking to.

We want Nigeria to move forward yet we dont want people to their jobs.

The SSS is interested in solving and getting to the root of this matter, terrorists acts are not the same thing as armed robbery or even bank robbery, what more can I say?
My guy, you are sounding off as one that doesn't look beyond the obvious.

Anyone interested in details of those arraigned can get it from their lawyers or even the press conference by the same SSS.
Now the phone cal was being made while they were on their way back, to defend this act would mean that they can as well arrest anyone along their route that was making a phone call, as such a person could have been speaking to interested parties too.

We do want Nigeria to move forward, but definitely in the right direction. If you are backing your destination, moving forward is negative! What Nigeria needs is properly movement in the right direction - a time when rule of law prevails and human rights are respected.

Terrorist acts are not solved by gangster acts to arrest indiscriminately.

Jokes EtcOrdeal Of Trapped Nigerian Miners. by Akainzo(op): 1:52pm On Oct 14, 2010
This is the story of the trapped 33 Nigerian Miners.

33 Nigerian Miners were trapped underground and the govt sent a capsule down to rescue them one after the other, but the rescue had to be called off as the trapped miners could not agree amongst themselves on who goes first. Zoning was suggested but they could not agree on which zone will go first. Eventually in a struggle to all board at the same time, the capsule was damaged leading to the call off.

Oh dear. Sorry it was almost becoming a nightmare.

In fact the real problem was that FEC awarded the capsule contract to Ibori and we are still awaiting delivery 3 months later.  There is a probe going on to unravel this and retrieve the award sum before we get to the issue of what formula to adopt for the rescue and which miner comes out first.

Meanwhile traditional rulers from the miners' towns are paying solidarity visits to the President to thank him for his efforts to rescue the miners.

And the First lady has just invited the wives of the Nigerian miners to Abuja for dinner at the Hilton! The first ladies from the 36 states will also be in attendance. All including the wives of the miners will wear the "Goodluck for President" Ankara.

CNN reported early this morning that after 10 months underground all the 33 Nigerian miners have died and the Nigerian govt has declared 7 days of mourning during which period the Nigerian flag will be flown at half mast.

When I attempted to lower my flag to half mast, lo and behold I woke up. Then I realized it was a dream.

And where will NFF be without government? Does FIFA know that corporate bodies do not support sports or football in Nigeria? It is the government that fund the sport.

“Everybody knows who is behind all these problems, the same person who has controlled sports for 20 years with little to show for the government’s massive investment in sports,

Okah supplied arms to mend that you have to understand.
Okah is a saboteur.
The Niger-delta struggle was fought by tompolo and co.
Okah is been used by Northern elements.
How can you belive aljazera an arab station.
You sure got me laughing out hysterically! So Okah is a saboteur to MEND because he supplied MEND armshuh You are as logical as someone in an asyllum.

Tompolo, Ateke et al, were just a bunch of bandits blowing up pipelines and engaging in oil bunkering until a smart alec organized them into MEND, gave them a voice though Jomo Gbomo and unleashed them onto the national consciousness as a rebel cult fighting a cause.
You can ask anybody within the Okrika axis how they viewed Ateke Tom before MEND came into the equation.

However,Okah and most Nairalanders seem to have forgotten that the Nigerian government prompted Okah's arrest days before the bombing and were equally appalled when they got to know that SA authorities released him. How then will the same government want to co-opt the same Henry Okah into such a conspiracy days after the bombinghuh In any case, this is Nigerian politics, lets see how it all plays out.
As a legal practitioner, you would only get your clients into jail if you continue with this kind of falsehood!
Henry Okah's house was raided on 30th September but he was not arrested. He was only arrested 2 days after the bomb blast on the basis that MEND was involved and that he has connections with MEND, even the charge sheet said this clearly. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-525121.0.html

You no wan wise.
Bombay, you seem on a mission to show so much ignorance on this MEND issue. You need not twist facts or known history just to be able to discredit Okah at this point in time.

Fact is MEND, is a coalition of militants groups in a loose coalition for the purpose of presenting a united front against government of the day.
MEND became recognised nationally and worldwide as an entity when Jomo Gbomo emails became a constant and his emails were correctly relaying what was going on, or what was going to happen.

If you claim that Okah was not linked or supported by MEND but was just a business man, how come MEND was the one that leaned on the FGN to release Okah? Or they did it for fun?

So are you by any means also trying to say that ALL units under MEND accepted the amnesty? And where did you get it that Tompolo was the main leader of MEND? If you imply this, then pray, tell me, why did the FGN have to reach out to others after Tompolo accepted the amnesty?

While most people here on NL are saying there is a lot of underground things going on, you apologist of GEJ are just running around like headless chickens trying to speak from all corners of your mouth rather than dispassionately analyzing the goings on. While I am not saying that GEJ is right or that Okah is right, I am however smart enough not to try and re-arrange history.

Picture this, if the same bomb had gone off where a US President was making an address, he would have been whisked off pronto! That is what security is all about, ensure the safety of the President, not prove that he is a 'strong' man.

Me thinks, the continuous reading of falsehood in Nigerian papers coupled with too much Nollywood movies have somehow eroded the thinking ability of most Nigerians. Unfortunately, for him, his girlfriend’s birthday was approaching and he told me some story about having to go to Abuja for a meeting. He even made a show of pretending to call me from the airport and switching off his phone for an hour to suggest he was actually on the flight. Off course he almost had a fit when I walked into his girlfriend’s birthday dinner party later that evening. I walked in with my own date and even took pictures of the lovely couple as they both cut the birthday cake. He never called me again. And just incase he ever tries to make out like I was the one chasing him or that he got something out of it, I saved all our BB conversations. Two really can play that game!

So my advice to all the so called ‘ballers’ out there is simple. Don’t be deceived. Do not mistake the silence of a woman for foolishness. Just because we women sometimes choose to play along with your silly games does not mean we aren’t up to our own tricks. What men don’t understand is, if you are cheating on your wife or girlfriend, she is usually aware about your infidelity 95% of the time. She only chooses to stay with you because she is too in love with you to see past her own nose or she doesn’t think there is any better out there. But one thing is for sure, one day she will wake up and find a man worthy of her and will leave your rotten behind in a flash. Always remember the age old adage “what a man can do a woman can do better”. Believe me there is hardly another sentence in the world which carries more truth.

I am directing this mail directly to you, I want you to do an investigative journalism yourself so that you can confirm somethings.

I want to believe you are a Nigerian, now I'm going to give you an insight into Globacom premises so that you can know that this person is not lying.

Now go to 24 Saka Tinubu street, it is the building that shares a fence with NITEL office, on Saka Tinubu now take your time to observe how Globacom staffs go in and come out, and at the same time look at there disposition you will see that all Globacom staffs put around there neck a Green Strap.

.-.-, ,  police force of Nigeria so go upstairs and you will see for yourself whether what I've said is true or not.
Ghost74, Thanks for the invite to do this. I would have loved to do this  myself as I enjoy a fair challenge. Unfortunately, I am in the middle of a project now and I can't spare the time to go to Lagos on a weekday. However, I do promise, if I find myself in Lagos on a weekday, i would find this out.

ghost74:
On getting out kindly meet staffs that are going on lunch, at about 1 - 2 pm tell them that you are trying to gather information's from them, as a Nigerian Labor Congress officer

1) Any of there staffs that have a letter headed paper of Globacom for there appointment letter

2) If they have been confirmed after 5 yrs of working in Globacom

3) If they have proceeded on any training and if they have they should kindly tell you if they have a certificate for this training.

See when you get some information try to verify the information before you claim it as not true, please do this and then comeback to us.

Thanks
From the experience I've had working in big multinationals, I know for a fact that not everyone that works within their office premises is actually their staff. Thus I would not be surprised if those at the switch room or engineers are actually not Globacom staff but employees of another company or even sister company. Note that this is just an observation and not specifically on the Glo case.

ghost74:
Please how can you explain that Globacom does not have fuel to run Gen Set and as such there was a downtime that affected operations for hours, and this company has another sister company Conoil. Please can you explain that.

Also please can you explain how a company of the magnitude of Globacom have downtime for hours because the filter for the Generator has been clogged and request for filter has been on the desk of the COO for weeks without any response.

My friend you can't believe somethings that happen in tat organization.

Kindly go on investigative Journalism I am throwing out to you to do
On this one, I do not need to do an investigative journalism.
I can tell you categorically that two of my friends have contracts with Glo on maintenance/service of their Generators across the South-South and South-East. One has a contract to supply diesel and he sure is having a ball on it, while the other goes around changing the AVRs on the Gen sets.

On the above bolded parts, I would say, AMAZING! Even ordinary Nigerians with 20 - 25KVA generators know that the Gen Set suppliers are the ones to service the generators and then pass the bills across. Thus I would be very surprised that Globacom would be servicing their generators themselves!

Like I said earlier, the people I know in Glo do not paint this pathetic picture about the company. Also, given general knowledge of things, the accusations just don't add up. I concede that Glo might not be perfect but the exaggerations as contained on this thread are way too much.

you do not understand - so let me break it down for you

mr a works for a consulting firm. the oga needs mr a to master autocad 2011 in order to speed up the work process

he sends mr a to us at a cost of 1m for training

mr a returns from training and resigns in a week

he is very sorry, but he just got a job offer of x 4 his salary (due obviously to his new autocad certification)

this is a common occurence - which is why high value trainings are often accompanied by promotions - the signed commitment thing doesn't work

without the certificate (not the training) , mr a could not have gotten that job, but he would still have delivered the workflow improvements
This is what happens in everyday life, with all corporate entities all across the globe. Glo or any Nigerian company is no different.

oyb:
he sends mr a to us at a cost of 1m for training

what you fail to realise is that most training companies, especially the local ones  have direct ties to the MDs of organizations they are serving.

it is just for adenuga to say - kindly forward the certificates to my hr dept or i take my business elswhere

in any event , most of the time, certificates are never issued immediately after training, but are forwarded to hr to distribute among staff
Nice expose, what you are saying is that you actually work for an unethical training firm! Now I understand where your warped logic is coming from.

oyb:
now you are talking as if you are not a Nigerian - what does glo care about the labour minsitry or lawsuits? how many lawsuits do disgruntled workers ever bring to court? how does training prove that a company is 'fair and responsible'

did you read where i wrote the conoil workers are te only ones in the oil indust who are not part of pengassan/nupeng? what has the labour ministry done about that?
I am a Nigerian and I do know that Glo do care about the Labour Ministry and lawsuits, or are you implying they have no legal department?

that Conoil workers are not members of PENGASSAN is not the fault of the labour ministry but because of the workers themselves. They decided not to join or ensure that they are members. Lay the blame squarely where it is.
CareerRe: Globacom Staff Resignation Mail by Akainzo(m): 2:08pm On Sep 19, 2010
oyb:
its like this - a staff is sent on training which makes him more valuable and is a bonus to his cv. for all employes, training staff represents a risk, since the employees may choose to jump ship for a better place

the standard signing of undertaking does not work - as people can damn the consequences

so mike simply gets them the training to do his work, but shreds the evidence so they cannot tell etialat i am trained in so and so

get it now?
Now this explanation is quite ridiculous. The entity responsible for giving you the certificate is not Glo! Once Glo (or any company at that) has registered you for the training, the training organization holds you the responsibility of giving you the certificate, not the entity paying for the training. Or is it your parents or guardian that sponsored you in college that gets the certificate?

I get so somehow when folks try to distort common knowledge things for the sake of getting a company painted black. Glo might not be the best place to work for some folks, but I bet some other folks would be having a ball at the same Glo.

You also forgot that Glo itself would need those certificates in case of lawsuits or to even prove to the Labour Ministry that it is a fair and responsible company. So would they destroy such evidences because of possible staff turn over? Me don't think so.

A company where this is a down time for hours because there is power outage in there main switch complex because they are owing the company responsible for oversight functions of the power.

This is a company that has refused to provide to the up keep of the company.

This is a company where staff training is not of any importance and when the staffs are trained they ask the vendor company to shred the certificate, so that the technical staffs don't have any proof of training.

A company that claims to perform KPI for staffs without any initial goal set for staffs.

This is a company that owes all it contractors for months and has mandated that any company that is interested in doing business with them must have an account with ETB.

This is just to mention but a few.
MY dear, if all this you posted above are believed, you must assume most people are dunces and believe anything written.  grin tongue grin grin

So you want us to believe that Glo send staff for training and then tells the training company to shred the certificate! shocked shocked shocked So they print it and then shred it? What a laff.

On the KPIs, you can only be caught with that once - the first time! If this happens to you, then the staff must ensure there was a discussion on what the KPI for the new year should be, otherwise then that staff probably shouldn't have been employed.

Until there exists laws in Nigeria that prevents corporate entities from leveraging on their strength, Glo can leverage on contractors to have accounts with ETB. Its what every corporate organisation does. I fyou do asset finance from the banks, you MUST use their in-house insurance.

By the way, I aint a Glo employee or contractor.
