European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by akinalabi(m): 9:42am On May 25, 2008
@ somze,

That is not the reason.

I was not interested when Jose won back to back titles.

I guess I became interested after Chelsea almost nicked
the two titles from us. I wrote Chelsea off since the first
day of the season.

But the late surge scared me no be small. wink I still don't
believe the league went down to the wire.

I was interested in Arsenal earlier on in the season but when
the faltered and Chelsea stayed strong, my "interest" changed.

if you are Nigerian and see nothing good in the country that I visited, then you must be totally out of your mind.
I feel you.

I still don't understand why people still don't see anything good
in Naija.

Everywhere I turn to, I see countless opportunities that can turn
people to what they will probaly never be abroad. Opportunities
waiting to be tapped at ridiculously low costs.

But I must warn you. . .

Social infastructure is almost zero here so you must be prepared
to provide everything for yourself.

I guess folk like countries for different reasons.
You've hit the nail on the head. That is the point everyone else
misses. We all have our reasons for choosing where we want to
live.

I love the UK for many reasons and I found it difficult to relocate
to Naija. I still miss the UK and whenever I have time, I pop in
to see my folks.

But I' searched my soul and I knew deep down that my chances
of success in my business is 100 times higher if I live in Nigeria.

I had my reasons. . . The poster has his reasons. He is not allowing
stereotypes to dictate his life decisions like many people do.

@ Sienna,

Of course no country is 100% good. Infact, Naija is just about
5% good. grin

He has decided to enjoy the 5% and I see nothing wrong with
that.

I don't think it's necessary to go to those places for the sake
of "balance things by seeing "

I've lived 28 years in total in Nigeria and I've not even been
to the Niger Delta to see those places HR.hotness refered
to.

He doesn't have to see them to live and be happy in Naija.

@ Vicjustice,

I'm sorry about your friend. I've heard many stories like
that as well and they are very touching.

You made the post sound like it's the travelling agents
that are at fault.

I honestly think your friend is a bit silly.

He spent 1 million naira to travel? Does he know what it
takes to raise that in Europe? He'll probaly never have £4k
cash all through his sojourn in Europe.

Apart from that, your post made it clear that he knew he
was not going to Europe directly. He knew he was going
to Bahrain and he went ahead? Or didn't he see the tickets
that were handed to him?

Is there something I'm missing?

@ poster,

You're just like me. I love it in Nigeria and can't imagine living
in any other country again.

People will discourage you but it's up to you to decide what
you want to do with your life.

Where do you think you will be better off?

You're the only one that can answer that question.

HR.hotness:

debosky:
The differences were slight this term IMO, only an overly exceptional Ronaldo got MU where they are, not the 60million they splashed last summer - that part was minor at best, with only Tevez being close to outstanding.
I disagree with you debosky.

Man Utd's success was due to the quality squad they had
which was made possible by the 60 million Fergie spent.

We were able to rotate our midfield and we kept everyone
fresh all through.

We had various midfield combinations.

Hargo - Anderson
Anderson Carrick
Scholes-Carrick

I remember a couple of seasons ago, any injury to one of
our midfielders meant we had to play O'shea as our playmaker. cheesy

Never de-emphasize the importance of strenthening your squad
with quality players (they don't come cheap these days).

see no reason why you should remain in the UK.
WebmastersRe: Google Adsense by akinalabi(m): 4:18pm On May 23, 2008
I've just removed adsense from most of my sites and blogs. 18
actually. I've left only 2 with adsense.

I pulled the plug because I don't see it as profitable enough for
me.

If I generate $100 from adsense, that same traffic will generate
as much as $500 if I sell my own products or promote affiliate
products.

Adsense is great as you don't have to do any selling but for me,
a full time Internet marketer, there are better ways to monetize
my traffic.

Carrick is the luckiest bastard.
2 seasons. . . . 2 EPLs and 1 UCL title(not even Arsene Wenger can boast of that in his entire managerial career) grin grin grin
I think Fergie now has a chance to RETAIN both titles but we need to get everyone fit after the EURO games ASAP.
Huntelaar is ready to play in England. . . . Fergie must get Micah Richards/Daniel Alves + Huntelaar/Fabiano/Berbatov.
Just give me Berbatov and I'll smile.

SportsRe: Who Will U Vote As Ur World Best Dis Yr: C. Ronaldo Or Who? by akinalabi(m): 2:10pm On May 13, 2008
@ hucarson,

We can't dismiss the fact that major tournaments play a major role in
choosing the player of the year.

But it's not the only thing. . . Not by a long shot.

Like the Ronaldo example (1996) you gave earlier. He did not play in
EURO 96 (obviously), did not win the UCL and he won the award.

He won it based on his performances in the Spanish Liga.

It's a combination of many factors so I reckon Ronaldo should have
a decent tournament.

SportsRe: Who Will U Vote As Ur World Best Dis Yr: C. Ronaldo Or Who? by akinalabi(m): 1:17pm On May 13, 2008
@ dayokanu,

You surely have a point about the top performers at the major
tournaments being favoured for the world player of the year
award.

I can imagine Ballack scoring a hat trick to beat Man Utd in Moscow
and going to lead Germany to Euro 2008 glory with braces in the
semi final and final while Portugal and Ronaldo have been knocked
out early.

Then Ballack will be the world player of the year. . .

BUT you sound like you're sure that Ronaldo and Portugal will have
a poor tournament. There is a tinge of bias in that.

SportsRe: Premiership Coach Of The Season ( Who Deserve The Award) by akinalabi(m): 10:19am On May 09, 2008
Whoever wins the title naturally should be the coach of the
season.

We know the title will be going to Old Trafford so Sir Alex remains
god.

Aside Sir Alex, I doff my hat for Avram Grant. Against all odds, this
man has been able to drag Chelsea this far.

Chelsea fans don't like him and dont want him to succeed but he
has been resolute.

I've also been impressed with Juande Ramos, Harry Redknapp.

The outside the premiership, Paul Ince (MK Dons) and Tony Mowbray
(West Brom) deserve praises.
