Romance / Re: I'm 33 But I Don't Want To Get Married by albert2512: 12:36pm On Feb 26
Mikuni:
When I look at the married men around me, I no longer see the need of having a wife.

I discovered something shocking, a few months ago:

Most men die before their wives, and most likely before their children finish university education. Look at your dad's friends, how many of them are still alive to enjoy the fruits of their parental labour?

Before marriage, you go through a lot of stress in choosing the right woman (God help you, if she's not greedy and demanding) you spend a fortune on marriage, only to be 'eating' one type of food grin till you die. If you're not careful, you go beg for sex tire. grin You think I'm lying? Ask my neighbor who begs to put the tip of his toothpick inside his wife for just a minute.

Now, you're married, you must provide for the rent, bills, school fees, in-law expenses etc
You must not forget to keep extra savings for health issues for cases like complications in child delivery, antenatal care, naming ceremony, baby materials, clothings etc

If you're unlucky to find yourself in financial difficulty after marriage, pray your wife is the understanding type, else you'd deal with a nagging woman, the type King Solomon told us to avoid staying in the same house with, and rather hide on your rooftop.

If your woman is easily driven to anger, and not rational in thinking, you're in serious trouble. You may end up being stabbed or poisoned. A lot of men have died this way.

So dear men, why waste your time and money? Be smart!

I leave you with this Bible passage: "Wealth and riches are inherited from parents, but a good wife comes only from the Lord."

I understand your opinion but I think you went extreme. You embodied all the bad deeds in a marriage into your fictional marriage. I agree marriage have ups n down but there are a lot of benefits in it too. Eating fruit of our labour is not as important as seeing your children happy during n after your life. The joy of becoming a good father replaces whatever the mother deeds is in most marriages (I know there are exceptions).

I pray we put God first when in search of a life partner and when also in the marriage as He makes the burden lighter and the journey easier.

Properties / Re: Urgent! Should I Allow My Tenant Bury Her 1 Year Old Daughter In My Compound? by albert2512: 6:08am On Feb 21
DSS1335:
A very good young woman whom her husband abandoned last year lost her 1 year old child this morning. They jovial baby was very healthy on Sunday, by Monday morning, the baby was suffering from diarrhea and vomiting. According to the mum, she was prescribed pediatric antibiotic Amoxicillin along with antimalarial (Lonart susp), paracetamol syrup and Rophegan. I was alarmed on why she gave her child Rophegan 5ml, normally this antiemetic drug is not recommended for children under 2 years of age. Unfortunately this early morning the child was gasping for breath while crying loudly and died few hours later.

The issue now is that she is from far away east. She doesn't want to travel home. I have a very large space in my compound, and want to bury the child there. I consulted my kins, they objected it that I should never allow such to happen that it's against our tradition. That a child should be buried in his father's home or public cemetery. This tenant have already made up her mind to Park out few months after her rent expires due to the scandals of separating from her husband. Should I go ahead and allow her or alternatively raise funds for her to travel to the east to bury the child there. Though she isn't forthcoming with my alternative.

N/B
I am of Rivers state, Ikwerre to be precise, the lady from Umuahia

Update:
The mother of the lady came late in the afternoon from Abia state and pleaded I should allow them bury the baby in my compound. After considering some notable advice from here coupled with the warning from my kinsmen, I declined. The lady's mother contacted their branch pastor and they made arrangements to bury her in a place provided by their church. Later this evening the woman came back insulting my family that we are very wicked for not allowing their baby to be buried in my compound.
If not for the sympathy I had for the mother mourning her loss, I would have lost my cool.
This was the same woman responsible for the breakdown of her daughter's marriage. After marriage, she came to live with the new couple who parked into my apartment newly. Instigating her daughter against her husband. Using her daughter as a proxy to siphon off her husband's wealth, a Dubai-based businessman. Controlling the man forcefully, preventing him from socializing with others because of her insecurity complexes. The last straw that broke the marriage was when the lady and her mother teamed up to lock the husband indoors for 4 days and transferred all his money to the wife's account. That whenever he needs his own money, he should tell the wife. In short, the marriage broke down irreconcilably and the husband relocated to another state and never came back, he was neither interested in the child that was born 3 months after nor care to inquire about their wellbeing

After reading the last part of your write up, all I can say is that you are lucky. The earlier part of your story was not holding substance till I read the later part. How can you be bold to bury someone on another man's land? Or is there something you are still not telling us?

Politics / Re: Crackdown On "Hoarding" Will Frighten Investors - Peterside by albert2512: 8:31pm On Feb 16
004gist:

We think one sided.
Investors have inventories. Market men and women have stores where they buy in bulk and sells.

Some buy bags of rice, beans, garri etc store it in the shop and sells little by little. And it takes weeks to finish selling those items.

I have someone who from the east, goes to villages in Banue, and interior villages in the north, takes trucks buys foods and bring down east store them up in his store and sells little by little . You dont expect him to be going to North everyday rather they do it once in month, that will serve their customers until they restock again.
If you attack their stores and they don't store again, it might further drive prices up in due time

Bro, this food scarcity is due to hoarding by politicians. They initially were buying every single grain found in Nigeria through agent and export it directly to Niger, Cameroon etc too recover their money with the intention of blackmailing the government. Customs cracked down on them and they started storing it up. Government is trying to hit at something, let stop bringing ideal case scenario. The targets are not 1 or 2 trucks stores but huge storage. Everybody should open up and start selling. Nobody is losing.

Who invest in food hoarding at a time like this? It is exactly like hoarding fuel during fuel scarcity. Not all investment is to be encouraged especially when it is crippling the economy.

malali:
This is an Intelligent Decision by Niger state Governor.

Controlling the open market to prevent bulk buyers from causing scarcity for small retail buyers involves implementing various measures and strategies:

Regulatory Policies: Implement regulations to prevent hoarding and price manipulation by bulk buyers. This may include setting limits on the quantity of goods an individual or entity can purchase within a specific timeframe.

Market Monitoring: Establish mechanisms for monitoring market activities to detect irregularities such as hoarding or price gouging. This could involve regulatory bodies, market surveillance teams, or technology-driven solutions like data analytics to track market trends and detect anomalies.

Price Controls: Consider implementing price controls or price ceilings on essential food items to prevent excessive price hikes that disproportionately affect small retail buyers. However, this approach should be carefully implemented to avoid unintended consequences such as black markets or reduced supply due to unprofitability.

Supply Chain Management: Improve supply chain management to ensure efficient distribution of goods from producers to retailers. This includes addressing logistical challenges, improving infrastructure, and promoting transparency and fairness in the supply chain.

Support for Small Retailers: Provide support and incentives for small retailers to enhance their purchasing power and competitiveness. This could include access to credit, training programs, and cooperative purchasing arrangements to leverage economies of scale.

Market Information: Facilitate access to timely and accurate market information for both bulk buyers and small retailers. This empowers market participants to make informed decisions and reduces the likelihood of sudden shortages or price spikes.

Promote Competition: Encourage competition in the market by reducing barriers to entry for new players and fostering a diverse supplier base. This can help mitigate the dominance of large bulk buyers and create a more level playing field for small retailers.

Public Awareness and Education: Raise public awareness about responsible consumption practices and the impact of hoarding on market stability. Educating consumers about their rights and responsibilities can help foster a culture of fair trade and discourage speculative behavior.

By implementing a combination of regulatory measures, market monitoring, supply chain improvements, support for small retailers, and promoting competition and consumer education, authorities can better control the open market and mitigate the adverse effects of bulk buyers on small retail buyers.

The main target are those politicking with the food available. They buy from our farms and take it straight to other countries like Cameroon, Niger etc with intention to create hunger. They have large liquidity to purchase more than 50% of available farm produce. They do same for fuel just to cause scarcity.

Politics / Re: What Are The Governors Doing With The Increased Allocation? by albert2512: 10:05am On Feb 07
femisplash:
The monthly allocations accrued to the states have seen a big increase since the removal of fuel subsidy. January 2024, FAAC shared 1.13trillion. In December 2023, 1.13trillion was shared, in November 2023, 1.78trillion shared. In August 2023, 1.13trillion was shared.

These respective allocations were a big boost from 786billion that was shared on May 2023 at the tenure end of the last Administration.

The President had a talk with the Governors over the subsidy removal and promised increased allocations to enable them cushion the effects and help them deliver to their people.

So far, Governors haven't shown commiserable deliverables to the increase in allocation at their disposals. It appears to be that the Governors are less interested in driving the vision of the president than lining their pockets while their people groan and complain under their watch.

The media are not putting the pressure on the Governors, everyone's eyes are fixed on the President.

For them, it is logical to increase governors allocation by 250% but not logical to increase workers salary by a very reasonable length. Who are this people actually serving? The masses or themselves? The handwriting is visible for those who care to see.
