Family / Re: Does Age Affect Happiness In Marriage (Matrimonial Bliss)? by alheri(f): 9:30am On Jan 13, 2006
Seun:

How do you know this for sure? Are you a man?

I may not be a man but I had a dad, I've got brothers, cousins and male friends. There are alot of men whose wives are aging but they donot cheat. My point is, aging is only an excuse for cheating not a reason as far as I know. Some men cheat even when they have young wives. Basically, if youre a cheat, youre a cheat. Your wife doesnt have anything to do with it,some people are just unfaithful by nature. Even women, so it has nothing to do with age.

chrisd:

God did not give different religion the option to worship and interpret/translate his word and comandment. But people have found God, the same God in different ways. There are lots of ways towards God.

Your opinion again again my dear chrisd. The bible says one way and that is JESUS.
Celebrities / Re: Bow Wow And Ciara by alheri(f): 3:30pm On Jan 12, 2006
Oh well, I respect ciara for sticking with her age group and not going out with some old dude like some other booty shaking gals do. If bow wow wants to get married and she loves him enuff, carry go as far as I'M concerned. Its no big deal. Even if they later get divorced so what? Na today, e don tey as my guys P-Square will say.
Family / Re: Does Age Affect Happiness In Marriage (Matrimonial Bliss)? by alheri(f): 3:18pm On Jan 12, 2006
well, thats your opinion. If you were saying that in terms of maturity, thats a different matter, cause it is said that women mature faster than men. So marrying someone younger will make them be on the same level. But your reason as per cheating is a matter of principle. If you have a good marriage and are a good man, you wont cheat just cause your wife is aging. Why should a man leave his wife for someone else? Men in the north marry girls younger than they are and we have more cases of divorce in the north than in the south here and it is not because the wife is aging. If youre a cheater, youre a cheater whether your wife is young or old you will cheat. Aging is just an excuse, as is nagging and the rest.

Family / Re: Does Age Affect Happiness In Marriage (Matrimonial Bliss)? by alheri(f): 12:56pm On Jan 12, 2006
akinzo:

For a guy, its better to get married to a lady who is quite younger than he is at least 4 years difference reason being that as the couple grows, the lady tends to age faster than the guy. If they are the same age, the guy might be tempted to look someone quite younger which might affect their relationship.

sorry to say akinzo, thats sounds very immature. So are you saying youre getting married cause of looks? You dont marry someone cause they are young and look good. You marry someones heart because they are beautiful to you from the inside and the heart doesnt age,and even if you want to put that into consideration too, if youre a cheater, youre a cheater! Dont use age as an excuse.
Personally, age is no big deal as long as you are with the love of your life.

Family / Re: Wives: Would You Submit Your Paychecks To Your Husbands? by alheri(f): 11:55am On Jan 12, 2006
Akolawole:

@Seun

What are you trying to say?
You are one of those men that have westernised Nigeria. Nigerian men are not bad at all. I am not sure you are married, but if you are, you will understand. Women are the weaker vessel and they need to submit themselves to us. We will give them respect but we are the commander-in-chief of the house.

please leave seun alone. He is saying the truth, I am married and I understand. Yes submission, true and good enough. Yourself and not your paycheck! Weaker vessle or whatever, commander-in-chief or not, a man shouldnt look at his wives allowance. There is nothing wrong with a woman chipping in sometimes but it is not mandatory. Anytime I have to use my money for something in the house, my husband been a good man will always refund me my money even when I dont ask. That is how it should be. I am free to use my money as I like, for clothes, jewelry, fast food, toys for the kids, whatever I like. Its just that I prefer to save most of the time which always comes in handy in the family. But my husband will always refund me! Its not about been westernized. My mother always had a good job but my father never allowed her to buy even matches in his house!

Well personally I think gbenga is very dumb to say such things to the press, whether it was jist and not meant to be published. Did you notice he insinuated in the interview that his brother muyiwa was stupid? He is really careless with words, just like his father.

What? Allah is God's name. Allah is the name of the only God. The Holy Name of GOD Almighty was indeed "Allah" in the original Bible.
It is also interesting to notice that Allah is the personal name of God in Aramaic. Thus the God of Islam, Allah, is indeed the God of Christianity.

Crime / Re: Harassed By Nigerian Policemen by alheri(f): 10:35am On Jan 09, 2006
kbstar. So sorry about your encounter. Its really sad. These are people who are supposed to protect us. Policemen in Lagos are so wicked and indisciplined. May God deliver us from police wahala, Honestly. My sister-in-law's brother in-law was arrested the other day for using a toilet in tantalizers. He was pressed and had to stop take a shitter and while washing his hands, they pounced and arrested. Apparently, they were trying to catch some kidnappers who had demanded ransome and were supposed to pick the money up from tantalizers toilet. So unfortunately for him, he got to TZ and since he headed straight for the toilet, they arrerted him. There were two of them and they both wrote conflicting statements, one said he had picked up the money while they other said he was washing his hands they they arrested him. It was a long horrible case and at the end of the day, He had to settle.
Its really pathetic.
Business / Re: ShopRite Nigeria by alheri(f): 10:21am On Jan 09, 2006
Its a combination. Nigerian, S.African and all. There's even a section for cooked food, though you cant eat in there. Its a really nice place and quite organised considering that they're just starting.

Seun:

Yeah. I wonder what they were thinking when they decided to launch with low prices. Are they trying to compete on the basis of price when they have an international brand that signals high quality? What is that?

I wander too oh seun. You can imagine, I bought this bucket of ice-cream for like N795 the other day, only to get there some two weeks later and on getting to the counter it was like N1310. Imagine! My husband wanted to pay but I said LAI,LAI, and took it back . I decided to settle for our dear old fan milk Ice-cream grin

@Bibi

Do you think some guys will even believe such aid exist in Nigeria?

Akolawole, I hope youre not refering to people like me  grin Well, i actually know about the legal aid. A friend of mine works in the Abuja branch of it. Theyre really trying too but how many people can they reach? We're talking about thousands of people here.
Honestly bibi, I agree that we should talk more about fixing this problems. The Nigerian police is the major problem. The way they handle cases is so unprofeessional. They set people up all the time when you  refuse to cooperate with their lies. Thats what makes most of this people end up in the prisons for a long time without trial.
Family / Re: Mother-inlaw Or Sister-inlaw Living With U, Who Is More Lethal? by alheri(f): 11:28am On Jan 07, 2006
Well, since they are now homeless I will definately let them stay with me. But on my terms! They must all earn thier keep. If I have a house help, I'll let her go cause my sis-in-law will take over her duties. My mother -in-law of cause will have the job of a nanny(will save me money on daycare). Honestly, in-laws only take a mile when you let them. I let mine realise from the begining that I was no mumu and since they know my background and know that its not like am coming from the ghetto, the recognise and I on my own will always represent!
Dont get me wrong, I have never had any quarrel or problems with my in-laws. I stayed with my in-laws for over a year cause my husband was always travelling at one time. But throughout that time, I made them understand that noone can boss me around. My husband believes that as long as am not rude and disrespectful, I should carry go!

Well he did and he was answered, and for you to emphasise on it, grants me the freedom to answer it thereafter. I don't intend to judge you , I want to hear it from your written words, exactly what your intention was. Just an advice for future conversations, do you research first wink.

well @chrisd, you are very right, she is even confused of what she is even talking about.

Whether Ive researched or not doesnt mean I cant still have questions to ask. Like I said earlier I asked a particular person the question and my purpose(best known to me) has been achieved and I really dont feel obliged to tell you my intentions.

I havent seen anywhere chrisd implied I was confused on this thread so far. If you want to insinuate that am confused just say so and dont bring chrisd into this. And just so you know, I aint confused 1 bit!

well logical, what can I say? My question was initially to kismat and you chose to answer. I am not in the business of mocking what people believe in, dont get me wrong. One of your muslim brothers raised the question earlier. HE gets my point and why I brought it up. As to my intensions, read up from where I asked the question you should be able to decipher that. Am outta here for now!
Islam for Muslims / Re: Prophet Muhammad in the Bible by alheri(f): 4:14pm On Jan 06, 2006
kismat:

Allow me to put the whole meaning of sire:

1 a : FATHER b archaic : male ancestor : FOREFATHER c : AUTHOR, ORIGINATOR
2 a archaic : a man of rank or authority; especially : LORD -- used formerly as a form of address and as a title b obsolete : an elderly man : SENIOR
3 : the male parent of an animal and especially of a domestic animal

Read the three meanings and you'll understand the word sire/beget and who it might be used for. Beggetting is an animal act. If God beget, then he created something like him which is totally and absolutely beyond explaination. How could the uncreated create another uncreated? God never eats, sleeps, drinks water, cry, rubbish, get circumcised and stops existing (dies). These were all done by Jesus which only shows how human he was like us. But its hard for christians to use their common sense when it comes to religion. If you do, by God grace you'll see how the whole religion is like a swiss cheese. Full of holes.

How do we humans procreate? Please ask a linguist what the word stands for. Stop looking for one word (father) which fits your belief and respond empirically. Understand the meaning of it. Can you call a two week old born child "father"? You can't use the word beget to God. Its shameful, blasphemous and something that doesnt befit HIM.

Unfortunately the concept of a perfect God doesnt exist or isnt tolerated in Christianity. You are told to leave logic/common sense at the door and enter into the world of faith. Makes you wonder why God gave us logic for? To be used on everything except him?

You believe that Jesus died for your sins etc (the core of christianity; salvation) right? Please respond to the topic "original Sin" https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-4642.0.html

I've answered your questions but your heart is dark and doesnt want to. So lets move on to something else please. thank you.

Whats getting you all worked up? I don't relate to your point of view so that makes my heart dark? Youve gone too far and I wont take insults from you. You want to move on to something else? feel free. I'm not responding to your topic cause its plain youre nothing but a malicious freak. Since Ive blasphamed, why not take up your sword and kill me?!

God is perfect! But you are not in a position to determine what is perfect to God. Swiss cheese? Suits me just fine, its been over 2000 years and that tells me something!  And NO, youre definately not welcomed

Politics / Re: The State Of Nigerian Prisons And The Legal System by alheri(f): 2:32pm On Jan 06, 2006
@ bibi. Yes ignorance is another issue. Infact, bail is supposed to be free! But is it possible to get anyone out of a Nigerian jail without dropping? Except of cause if youre coming through one big shot and even then you must still settle! So like DE- king said, corruption is the major problem.
@nferyn. Honestly nferyn its a pathetic issue! All avenues for you to get help is blocked. If you make too much noise about the issue, you can get framed in further by the police! Sometimes you die(get killed) in detention and they tell your family all sorts of lies.
Islam for Muslims / Re: Prophet Muhammad in the Bible by alheri(f): 2:15pm On Jan 06, 2006
@chrisd,thanks for the info on sand bath. But it still doesnt explain to me why that makes me "more cleansed" than after Ive had a good bath with water, soap and sponge!
@logical, honestly youve done a thorough job in your explanation. You almost got me lost with the polish, oil and rag story. Like you said, I didnt see it coming cheesy. But you see, when you talk of abulution, you say its a cleansing form inside out. Apart from that, I know you have to clean out your mouth and genitals when you do this cleansing. Are you telling me that using sand to clean out your mouth and genitals is "reasonable and simple"(according to kismat) and spiritual and gets you cleansed enough to go into the presence of Allah? How does the water/sand cleanse you on the inside?
@kismat, you dont have to call me ignorant cause am bringing up issues for discussion. It was you who actually deviated from the topic and you still having given me anything that carries weight. You find a way of jumping to another issue when you hit a wall! I wont call you ignorant, infact I'll keep my opinion of you to myself for now.
Islam for Muslims / Re: Prophet Muhammad in the Bible by alheri(f): 1:52pm On Jan 06, 2006
@ kismat
Thank you for your links, but I still found nowhere in those links where it is said that "to beget" must involve sex or intercourse!
I went further to click on SIRE and this was what i found:

1A Father B archaic:male ancestor:forefather C Author, originator.

And for procreate, it read:

to beget or bring forth child!

ALL these I agree with cause these definations have said nothing about sex/intercourse as youve been implying. They all refer to the " Father" said of parenthood.

About the christians who crucify themselves on good friday(am hearing that for the first time though). But I choose(believe) take your word on that. I dont do that,I dont have to do that cause The Christ has already made that sacrifice for me. Why they do that? I dont know? Why not ask them? My explanation? They are sick, mislead, confused and need deliverance.
