Having said this, no matter how 'bad' things may be in the South, I can authoritatively tell you that the South-East and South-South will never be joining in on any protests. So down here, the South-Westerners are on their own. Sadly so. It would be fun to watch the protest in Lagos, though.

Thunder go fire your gworo/amala mouth dia. lol

Umu Igbo, stay HOME.
We have a different type of problem in Nigeria.

I don talk my own.

"Your people" are my people. "My people" are "your people".

"Your people" are business men and travellers, and also according to nairaland, that are the highest population in each state apart from the indigene. If so then we can say your people would be the most hit can't we.

If I see "your people" suffering on the streets, do you think the alj harem of nairaland would be so bigoted/ callous to let them be ?

In my life, lots of "your people" have helped me in various occassion thus I view myself as one of "ur people".

Onlytruth, you don't understand how angry I am right now on this subsidy thing.

I cannot buy fuel to my generator because it is 141 naira/liter. i use 10 -12 liters very night to sleep and now it has increased to 1500 naira angry.

Ofcourse Naira,
and since Naira is stronger than the currencies of those countries the fuel is smuggled to, dont you think it still creates lots of room for the smuggling to thrive ?

so it is naira.

fuel smuggled to benin republic on who's accord ? The government or private investors ?

at what point is the subsidy paid, is it when it has already been signed at the port that the refined fuel has arrived or when it is till on sea ?

if when it has arrived, then who's fault is the smuggling, private investor or the NNPC for not keeping track record of the oil brought into the country.

if on shore, then there is NO SUBSIDY PAID TO THE INVESTOR.

emiye, you have not answered me. Is ghana using Naira or cedes ?

because I would not lie to you, it is VERY annoying the way people use other countires with higher value in currency and convert it to naira or dollars then use it as A COMPARISON to Nigeria fuel price.

1. Each country have different minimum wage

2. each country have different standard of living

3. each country have different exchange rate and as such there is NO COMPARISON

Besides in the UK we have congestion charging, to reduce the number of motorist and pollution. Nigeria motorist nad polllution need reduction too. GEJ is simply too good.

do you know what conjestion charge is ? and how it works ?

where is conjested apart from lagos that conjestion charge would apply ?

Didn't somebody just mentioned Ghana? http://allafrica.com/stories/201112300791.html

It has happened in Indonesia before in 1999.

Also was planned for Libya : http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/24576-%E2%80%98removal-of-fuel-subsidy-could-trigger-libya-like-revolt%E2%80%99.html

There is nothing I can say but if we think subsidy is not a problem to Nigerian economy then we need to think again.

just as i predicted. lol grin grin grin grin

so Ghana is not building her refinary ?

or is Ghana currency not stronger than Nigerian's now and the standard of living better now ?

Indonisa economy is not dependent on oil angry

Libya is controlled by IMF aka America by using a puppet government. This would never have happened with Gaddaff

liyba does not have fuel subsidy, don't be decieved. Libya has refinaries so what would they use a subsidy for ?

LOL grin grin grin grin grin grin well since u are comparing gahan indonisa to nigeria , i don't really know what to say

Nigeria prices are based on price of petrol

ghana and indonisa are different. Infact ghana just discovered theirs

indonisa economy is based on palm oil and cocoa.

God has given us a pump price of less than 25naira per litre, we dont need your subsidy it destroys the economy.
Npdc after 23years should guarantee our local production capacity which will bring cheap crude to the market.
subsidy is a monster to cover up your ineptitude, now that it is obvious you can no longer maintain the subsidy regime coupled with the fact you swore to your deities that you wont fight corruption.
take your subsidy give us a local production capacity. all the oil companies produce crude at less than 12usd/barell,
investors will refine it and guarantee a pump price of less than 30naira.
subsidy is the biggest scam in Nigeria's oil and gas history, local production capacity is the way to go.

That is coming from the distributors and there is not so much difference because it can not exceed the 145 naira in a nutshell. That doesn't change anything. You just want to exert that to make a fool of the subsidy removal.

LOL grin grin grin I am sorry do you even understand how the "theives" make their money or I am just discussing with a clueless brother.

A subsidy thief in Nigeria is a distributor and a supplier and an exporter and importer and a reservoir owner.

He is a distributor because he owns fuel stations, and shares in some privately own stations

He is a supplier because he supply's NNPC the needed fuel they need every week since they cannot store

He is an exporter since he gets the crude oil and export it to be refined in other countries

He is an importer since he imports the refined crude oil which the major sum of the subsidy is paid for at the ports.

He is a reservoir owner since he stores for NNPC and gives it to them at a lower amount since petrol evaporates.

well what do i expect for Nigerians they never understand what there government is doing but sheeplly follow. Brother allnija, carry on cool

That will always happen. The distributors will always have that initial increase in profit as long as they have reserves from earlier purchases when it's relatively subsidized.

so what of the deregulation process ? no word or you just read the first bit

all4naija:

Wake up from your slumber and stop complicating issues. Learn to be a solution than being a problem.

I think you and ur silly government should wake up for there slumber after 51 years

The solution has always been clear from day 1

1. reduce the cost of goverance which is 70 % of Nigerian's income

2. use the savings to build refinaries to provide 80 % of the country's oil need

3. The remove subsidy and price of Refinary fuel would be less than 65 naira a liter instead of increasing to 142 naira a liter.

i never fully believed this man was slow until today, any rational thinking man knows that you cannot totally deregulate commodities such as oil in a bad and non free market economy. the effects of this decision will be mostrous, the small cabal who previously collected the subsidy money will form a cartel and fix prices by themselves. THERE IS NO REAL COMPETITON IN NIGERIA. all fuel distributors probably know each other. wow the world better end on 2012 or nigeria will.this is probably an IMF policy to destroy our economy so that we either help in bailing europe out, have oil prices fall or totally destroy our economy so that everyone is worse off. okonjo-iweala, sanusi, gej == illiterates

LOL btw, the oil theives would have made 300% profit on oil today because of the stored oil was bought at 20 naira and meant to be sold at 65 naira but now even much more profit if they sell it at 146 naira grin grin grin

you see, the difference from 65 naira to 145 naira was what the government was paying for according to them but now if I have already bought it at 65 naira and the subsidy already paid to me. I still reserve the right to sell it at 165 naira

thus I have made 500 % profit cool

Now that the market is deregulated, the cabals can make money in 2 ways

1. form a coopration- aka onado, conoil, etc can come together and regulate their prices as they wish to sort there need

2. selling fuel at different prices to NNPC as they wish. - each il company can sell it at different rate to nnpc thus the price of oil would be varing from week to week unless the governemnt is still prying for this subsidy they said they would remove to keep the price constant

You do not deserve anybody's time cos you agrue on borrowed points that you barely understand, you would rather justify the 1960s pogrom than admit it was characteristic terror streak that is common with every northerner.
Yes Igbos are everywhere in Nigeria but I doubt if they make up the majority of the population of these states that should make them a constant victim feature in almost every attack and unrest in Nigeria and the north in particular. The other time it was "randomly" a market full of Igbo traders and the bomb had to be thrown into an Igbo man's shop and once again it was the Igbos that counted the highest loss. During the NYSC election manhaunt by those almajiri thesame Igbo dominated the list of their victims, yet no Igbo has ever launched an unprovoked attack on any tribe or northerners in particular. Abi you no sabi say after the Igbos the most itierant tribe is the Hausa/fulanis? Or you think others can't choose to victimize them? Yet they are allowed to enjoy the freedom in the southern region they don't allow others enjoy in their own region.
