@Negro Ntns,
I dont understand this your desire to give the north and the west credit for the enterprenurial achievement of the average Igbo trader since after the civil war, thank God you finally admitted there is also a decent market in the east where Igbo buisnessmen also thrive, as long as people are there, the market will always exist, you are saying the Igbo should not the patting themselves on the back for the speedy achievements after a devasting civil war? instead we should dedicate some praise to the population tha constiutes the market??

OK, A BIG THANK YOU TO THE HAUSAS AND YORUBAS FOR EXISTING AND ALLOWING IGBOS TO TURN YOUR EXISTANCE INTO CASH,

Negro, you logic is totally wrong, an I suspect it is driven by envy of the Igbos, Its like asking people not to praise Bill Gates and Steve Jobs for taking advantage of the existing market, instead we should be thanking the market for agreeing to used the products from this great guys,
I really understand that it can be quite difficult giving honour to whom it is due, when whom it is due is the subject of so much envy, we just have o rise above board on this occasion

LAGOS
On this issue of contribution to Lagos by the Igbos, we only have to look at what the happening in Abuja, Today outside the Government, The Igbos are the key drivers of the economy of Abuja.
I would tell you the truth now. Yes Igbos are good business men and can go to every remote community to sell their goods. This is very needed in a country like Nigeria where we are not too densely populated in some areas

Now before those traders sell their goods in those places, they need people who they would buy it from. Here comes the the yorubas especially the women who are wholesalers in large multinational companies.

Also if they were to import the goods, here come the hausas to do the foreign exchange bit.

Now Igbos are more a less retailers compare to wholesalers and producers. Also this retailers need the market (lagos, port harcourt, kano etc population are consumers)

So I am not trying to take credit from the Igbos because it is only an ungrateful person that would say Igbos have not achieve a lot since the inception of Nigeria. I am just telling you the views of others as well.

We are a society where we help each other and each person has there individual roles for the "greater Nigeria". Without the Igbos Nigeria's economy would have crashed way back grin grin grin

Thank God for the Igbos in Nigeria cool

Lets get some things right. Gboko harams target are people practicing anything western, examples are police, army, christians, etc. 60% of nigerians are muslims while 40% christians. 20% of the 40% christians are SE people while 10%  goes to SW, SS and some North. The statistic above tells u that if there is any strike on a christian community, the igbos will suffer more. I was in borno during the gboko war with the state, they killed lots of northerners and westerners. My problem here is that igbos did not want to listen to ojukwu. Ojukwu cried the day he was addressing igbos in lagos, the reason he cried was because of the huge investments the igbos have in lagos state. My cousin is into real estate stuffs, he confessed that 30 % of the lagos economy is on igbo man's shoulder, back in the east there is no investment. It is only ojukwu's people(nnewi) that invest in their hometown. If the igbos should all come back home then it is going to be easy for us igbos to find gboko guilty of attacking igbos else it will a bit difficult. But all this does not mean that some community are not soon going to strike muslim settlement in the SE. Abia state, aba in particular and onitsha are going to strike soon.
smh, even your ojukwu invested in lagos and abuja even after the war

he built houses in lagos didn't he ? na wa for ur thinking o

rhymz:
Only a pretender like aljaharem will feign ignorance and act like BokoHaram does not have sympathizers amongst the northern muslim population.
These guys live amongst them and even pray in thesame mosques with the imams knowing fully well how extremist their ideology is. In a saner society if you express any hint of extremist religious ideology in public or even a normal discussion you will be reported and placed under survailance. There is no how the force and all the intelligence units and agency will succeed in getting these Eidiots if they dont know how these cowards operate or get fund and support without tip-offs from people in the communities where these fools stay. Northern leaders are cowards, they don't count where it matters, all they do is talk in general terms and lay the blames on the door step of our foolish government. What has been their own contribution to curb these eediots, let them create programs vigilantes, tip off line, educative fora to de-sensitize moderate muslim families and youth, they should tone down on the political sermons they give in the mosques, it is turning the impressionable ones to tools for the BH cause. Let them speak out, their silence is killing non-muslims in their region, they should not be afraid to die as well. If pastors, christian leaders and other non-religious group can boldly condemn these evilstars then Islam should even do more to stop these monsters. This problem is largely a northern/islam problem, and it can't be handled in isolation of these realities.
all you said was right and I agree with it. the second bolded part is taking place as we speak

why do you think they cannot bomb kano, kaduna or sokoto because they know the people over there would not take that nonsense. gradually it would spread to borno and other areas. No one would support a group that kills people, absoultly no one especially in Nigeria.

don't mind the charlatan. . . .
anyone who sincerely believes boko haram is a nigerian problem should be stoned or set ablaze. . . . or both!
I am telling you something u are saying another.

I am telling u that no northerner or muslim supports Boko haram in any way or form. You are here calling it a northern problem forgeting that by doing so, you are making it a sectional problem thus given them more power as a group that fight for northerners.

that they blow up people in mosques and churches is their foolishness and lack of tactfulness.

I refuse to get carried away by such a sweeping generalization cos what we see is very different. As far as these attacks are concerned, the biggest casualties have always been Igbos, it is fast becoming an Igbo problem cos it us that getting calculated attacks and victimizations, the muslims that have died were more of innocent by-standers than victims of deliberate effort to be killed. If they are appalled like we are, then they should everything they can to help the forces apprehend these cowards, thet live in their villages, amongst them, being afraid to report is not an option here at all. When they start making efforts even if it takes their lives then we can start talking about them being affected and all that fine political talk. It is not their mosque that is being bombed afterall.
No my brother, don't think like that.

Boko haram is a nigerian problem and has been killing northerners as well. They kill people in the mosque after prayer. Do you think people are that stu.pid to support such group ?

it has not always been a tribal or religious thing but a case of terrorism.

[quote author=One_Naira link=topic=833237.msg9850767#msg9850767 date=1325086533]Are some people really this blind or is it tribe and tribalism still blinding people? After the article which we all know what Eko Ile intent was the replies as it goes in page 1:

dayo stroked his ego,

Nchara explained how the religious tolerance is unnecessary in Igboland because of one religion and how tolerable it is to non-igbo, non-Christians living in SE but at the same time agreeing with the author.  so far no discriminatory comment to Yoruba.

Relax101 criticized the article and the author but no mention of Yoruba but rather an insult to the North.

Oba23, whom is non-Igbo, criticized the article and explained how North muslim do not view Yoruba as real muslim.

Joyecok, whom we do not know if he or she is Igbo, most likely a non-igbo since we've never seen him in an Igbo thread before insulted Yoruba.

Eko Ile did what we he usually do, he attacked Nchara reply with an insult to the Igbo.  How come? Na him know.  What provoked his insult to Igbo even though Nchara did not insult Yoruba? Na him know.  Typical

Nchara took offense and replied back with an insult

Eko Ile now playing the victim even though he started it, insulted Nchara yet again

Nchara replied back but alitttle less insult and a little more explanatory and criticism of Eko Ile insult.

Nchara talked about his experience in Kano riot

Eko Ile doing what he does best dragged Igbo into comparison with Yoruba by trying to discredit Nchara experiences and insulting Igbo. Typical

Eko Ile doing the same thing again.  Typical

Nchara retaliated back and started insulting Yoruba.

Freecocoa criticize the article and the author by repeating the same thing Oba23 wrote.

Freecocoa asking Eko Ile why will he disprove Nchara experience just because he didn't see it.

Dayo no surprise there came with an Insult to the Igbo

Joeyfire and Negro toasting and stroking their own Ego.

Freecocoa now pissed at dayo attack on Igbo insulted Yoruba

And that's how the argument began. No Igbo started anything, the yoruba's did like always but un-surprisingly the Yoruba are playing the victim innocent card as usual. If not for EKO ILE, none of this would have started.  No matter how some try to spin in, the proof is in the pudding in Page one.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-833237.0.html

Una need to stop starting something you cannot finish,  you insult people and then expect them to keep quiet?  When they attack back, una crawl back to your cage and start playing the victim card.  Stop starting something you cannot finish or rather if you going to start then don't b1tch and moan when they fight back. shikena.  It's making una look weak period.

Apparently, you didn't read my posts. My folks have been doing business in the North- specifically Kano and Katsina(center of commerce and two most important states in the North) for the past 40years. They saw civil war with their eyes and came back to reclaim their properties. I don't need to lament further on how many cities in Nigeria i have lived and been including that your "glorified Niger delta". Where have you been to, lived and how many tribes have you associated with or befriended?

I have lived through many riots including one of the bloodiest in 1991 caused by Reinhard Bonnke's controversial remark. Despite that, some of these "core-northerners"- as you classify them - are one of the best people you can ever meet,do business or live with. So, to hear you talk about Cowardice is downright funny. In fact, if you could fly to Abuja right now, we could meet for a beer and some "chat". Coming to internet forums to lament does not make you brave.

This is a national crisis that demands immediate attention. That, we know. I am not trying to deny or run away from reality. We are following the situation very closely and will know what to do when it has reached the point of no return.

Next time when you make suggestions like this, speak in riddles and be literal in meaning. Somethings are better left unsaid. If you exercise humility, you might learn one or two things from folks who have wealth of experience from critical issues like this.

How can removing officers from a region solve the problem in that region/nation

Oga beaf I doff my hat for una grin grin grin

Although I see your point only that it was clouded with tribalism as always against the north or sw.

Now I rather you refine that idea by then removing all officers that are igbo, yoruba, hausa and let Minorities hold our military since they are neutrals undecided (if you are thinking along that path)

another solution I would suggest is to send the military to those places that were bombed and do a 24 hrs search for Boko haram.

ie if the president is serious about the death of her fellow Nigerians in the northern part of nigeria

The thread starter was mischievous but I expected people to make fun of this thread and may be educate themselves on religious tolerance but as we can see, that was not the case.

well make them continue. As for me, I see nothing to learn from the yorubas. If at all I want to learn anything from the yorubas, it is their carefree life style.

The north has ALWAYS BEEN RELIGION TOLERATING even before the amalgamation of Nigeria. The Boko haram people don't represent an average northerner but themselves and Northerners have condemn them over and over again.

The Sultan has also don the same.
