In my favorite book, the Alchemist, Paulo Coelho explains the power of omens. And at this moment, I believe the entire universe is conspiring to help me achieve my dream.

I read about China/ Gaokao this morning and resolved to act on a new idea. Hours later, there’s a Nairaland frontpage story about a Chinese millionaire and Gaokao.

I read stories here which make me hide my own problems in my relationship.

Hello nairalanders, I need some advice.
My marriage is barely two years, and within these two years, my husband has been unfaithful, and has hit me sometimes. I always fight back though, so it doesn't get out of hand. I don't want to go into all the details of how I met him and ended up his wife. I sometimes regret that decision.

Believe me when I say the struggle is too much for me because I don't work yet and nothing comes from his end, but he keeps apologising, saying things will get better. I want to believe him but is it not his reckless lifestyle that has kept him where he is. I need advice because I don't know if I should take him back and work with him for a better future. He has made all plans to relocate to where I am so we can start afresh, but my fear is, a man who could be cheating with the little resources we have when we had baby things to buy, can he be trusted again. I feel resentment and bitterness because I practically used all my savings for the birth and up until now, every little money I get goes towards my child's upkeep. Isn't he coming back now because he is flat broke. A man who can cheat when we could barely feed, can I really take his word for it? Do you think I should give him a chance. I am not a saint because I can be very stubborn when I know I am right, but I married him a virgin. Take into consideration that he blames me for some of his actions. Doesn't that show lack of accountability. I was very naive when I married him, otherwise I wouldn't have. There is no pleasure whatsoever in a marriage without money, moreso one with the accompanying issues mine has.

I promise you, I sympathize with you. But this caught my attention.

I’ve seen a case like this: He ropes you in with sob stories, you hang out more often, one day a ridiculously huge amount goes through your checking account, and he disappears.

The authorities come for you whenever they choose to follow his money trail.

Hello, guys
I don't want to bore you guys with long epistle. Yes, as the title suggests.

I travelled to Canada through the study route this January but I can tell you for a fact that I'm already bored with this place.

I'm redoing a 2 year program that I have already concluded in Naija but just because I want japa, I redid it. But that's not the issue.

The issue is that I'm working in a company but the department I was posted to was a physical demanding one..

To the extent that if I work for a day, I feel pain all over my body for a week. And this is seriously affecting my education because anytime i go to work, i wouldn't have the energy to do anything again as i would be so weak. but i have to work because i have bills to pay.

Nobody send you for here except you want sleep for cold outside.

Even half of my salary goes in the form of settling bills.

The work makes me depressed. This is not what I bargained for. .

For me to raise money for my tuition fees and travel expenses, at least I wasn't doing bad in Nigeria before i left. In addition, I hardly have time for myself.

My situation is even better, most of people who we came same time haven't found jobs yet.

My thinking is if I should ask for refund of my remaining tuition fee and relocate back Naija, or go back Naija and take some courses online, as there seems to be an option for that.

You may not see this but it’s Sunday today and I woke up feeling the same way as you. Now that I look at it, my “situation” isn’t as bad as yours. Yet still, there’s this thing about our brains which makes us forget the things we truly have. The things we should be grateful for.

You’re here in Canada.
You’ve got a job.
You can save at least 10% of your income.
You can go out of your house and meet white folks who know their way around Canada.
You can be anyone you DECIDE to be in two or three years.
You can practice GRATITUDE only for today Sunday.
You can take $55 and get a membership at a local gym right around the block.

International trips and vacations, dinner dates, spontaneous road trips aren’t free. These cost money! The dating culture is different; your Naija babe is fine with the occasional visits to Dunes Center or Sukino restaurant in Abuja. A white girl demands frequent travels to feel loved.

Dating a white girl is the same as dating a black Nigerian girl. Women are typically the same irrespective of skin color.

We’ve got a problem, us MEN. I’m all too convinced that it’s never been about the women we meet; whether black Nigerian girls or foreign white women, tall or short, petite or curvy, beautiful or facially-handicapped. Who made us to always want more? Who deceived us that MORE was owed to us.

Here’s the cliched path in the life of an average male. We find a woman and it’s all sunshine and rainbows for as long as our virile sex hormones find her attractive. 6 months later, we are compelled to find someone new to get in bed with. A never-ending cycle!

I promise you, white girls aren’t different from Nigerian girls. You’d be setting yourself up for a rude awakening if you believed otherwise.
