Christianity EtcRe: I'm a Christian But I Don't Need Church! by allonym: 7:48pm On Nov 15, 2005
actually, charles darwin did no such thing. He himself never said that his theory indicates that there doesn't exist a creator.

Also, charles darwin is not the author of scientific inquiry or logic.

Finally, this is the tact taken by many churches. . .though not quite the way you worded it. Basically, they say the world is stupid and if they don't want to hear the truth, we're not going to try.

But, lets assume you are correct. Since Charles Darwin has done such an evil thing, why don't YOU - or anyone else give ME a logically, scientifically, or intellectually sound argument for the existence of God.

Guess what, it can't be done.

FamilyRe: Should Homosexuals Be Allowed to Raise Children? by allonym: 7:31pm On Nov 15, 2005
if that is the case, then why do male-female couples feel a need to reproduce.

It is you who is not making sense.

Unless you are saying that a male and female DONT feel the need to reproduce until they become a couple.

That is why no one (Church) knows Christianity better than the Catholic church. It's good that some of you can admit that fact.
At times it amazes me when some people talk that the Catholic Church is not doing the will of God and that we don't "know" the Bible.
That is not a reason. You're telling me that if the USA decides to rewrite the history books of the world, 100 years from now, everyone should listen to whatever the USA has to say about what happened?

Just because they erased history doesn't give them a monopoly on information. If anything, its a reason NOT to listen to the catholic church's teachings.
FamilyRe: Should Homosexuals Be Allowed to Raise Children? by allonym: 7:26pm On Nov 15, 2005
Going from having children is a result of the need to reproduce,

you would agree with me that all people want to reproduce, both male and female.

So, when a male-female couple cannot reproduce, they adopt.

Similarly, since a female-female couple cannot reproduce or a male-male couple, they must adopt.
FamilyRe: How to Ask Your Girlfriend's Parents For Her Hand in Marriage? by allonym(op): 6:33pm On Nov 15, 2005
I think the meeting he talks of is a face to face one. It is quite different from a phone conversation. Talking to someone on the phone is one thing. When you must go in person, especially if you are asking for a hand in marriage, its entirely something else. Besides, if her parents were against her having a bf, they might find it easier to wait until they know they were serious, rather than getting the girl potentially in trouble over nothing.

nope, you live at school on in an off campus apt. There aren't any relatives around.

I'm guessing you are not a college age student.
Christianity EtcRe: I'm a Christian But I Don't Need Church! by allonym: 5:16pm On Nov 15, 2005
logically, intellectually, scientifically, there is a very very weak argument for God, and even weaker argument as to why Christians are right, and all other religions are wrong.
RomanceRe: [poll] Would You Prefer to Marry a Virgin? by allonym: 5:14pm On Nov 15, 2005
in fact, if you can't see yourself being with a girl who has just been licked and bleeped. . .then why were you waiting for her to be licked and bleeped before you come in? At that point, you should be heading home if she's with someone else.
Christianity EtcRe: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by allonym: 5:03pm On Nov 15, 2005
then what about enigma's posts or my posts?

Enigma posts where we're commanded to tithe. However, only in one case do we give the tithe to someone else. The other times, we're to enjoy the tithe in the Lord's presence. The tithe was to be given to the Levites - an entire TRIBE of people - because they had no inheritance (ie they were not a money generating people). So, that means, if anything, a portion of my tithes should be going to people who have nothing, NOT the church. The rest is spent on ME and MY family in the glory of the Lord.

Isn't that what God commanded for the tithes. So, yes, I agree that we should tithe just like God commanded. I disagree with ppl saying that tithing means I give my money to church for it to use as it pleases.

i'm pretty sure that by the time you get to her, she'd have cleaned out the sperm and washed the other guy's breath from her body. She'll be just as clean for you as she was for the other guy.

CimonJorr:
There is this question which I guess no one has raised yet.. curious as it is...

"Why would homosexuals want to raise children?? huh"

It's not like they can naturally pro-create to produce them anyway...

Couples (and here I'm referring to hetero-sexual couples, to prevent any arguments) which are unable to have children often sought remedies to their problem, and as a last resort, opted for adoption.. But usually after they had tried to produce children on their own without success...

Obviously, for homosexual "couples", this can not be the case.. so why the push for children in the first instance??.. If it's a case of companionship, I guess that has been solved already..

One can not 'eat your cake' and have it..
You just answered your own question. According to you:
Couples (and here I'm referring to hetero-sexual couples, to prevent any arguments) which are unable to have children often sought remedies to their problem, and as a last resort, opted for adoption.. But usually after they had tried to produce children on their own without success...
I'm sure that after homosexual couples realized they could not have children, as a last resort, they opted for adoption.
LiteratureRe: Does Harry Potter Encourage Witchcraft? by allonym: 4:39pm On Nov 15, 2005
drawing power from yourself or drawing it from others has the same effect: none.

1) There is no power in witchcraft
2) The harm involved is serving something other than God
3) If harry potter is bad, we gotta ban disney, and every children's cartoon, every movie, at least half of all fiction books because they all require a "suspension of disbelief" which call it what you wish, that's what magic is.

FamilyRe: How to Ask Your Girlfriend's Parents For Her Hand in Marriage? by allonym(op): 4:32pm On Nov 15, 2005
For elders to do the talking, that assumes that on both sides they are willing to approve the marriage.

However, this is still an issue. So, when we get to be elders, what exactly are our young ones expecting us to do?
FamilyRe: How to Ask Your Girlfriend's Parents For Her Hand in Marriage? by allonym(op): 4:30pm On Nov 15, 2005
you forget gentleone that many people are students in a country where very little of their family reside. If they goto school in the US, and their family is in Nigeria, when would they meet (especially now where you'd rather finish your degree than take a chance at not getting your visa renewed).

i hate to break it to you, the power of a blood covenant only exists in your head. Since you are the one who believes in it, she will have a happy life, and you will fall apart. Give up on your stupid covenant and ex girlfriend and don't make contracts without exit clauses in the future.
RomanceRe: Two people in love, all the passions of a lifetime, yet the past stops one by allonym: 4:20am On Nov 15, 2005
assuming the title of this topic is your question, we are confused as to your problem. You kinda mention that all you have met is her kids and not friends or other family. I'm assuming that this is your frustration and the "past" you mention is hidden from you. Well, you have been in three marriages. Did the other women steal your tongue and balls? Open your damn mouth and ask her about her family, friends, and past.
FamilyRe: Best Way to Punish Kids? by allonym: 4:13am On Nov 15, 2005
technically, all punishment is some form of abuse.

So, people, don't be intimidated when someone tells you that yelling is verbal abuse, flogging is physical abuse. Telling your kid that you are disappointed in him in a nice voice is mental abuse too.

Just like you learn best from pain, burning your hand on a hot stove teaches you not to touch the hot stove, punishment would condition a reflex against doing wrong. The problem is that unlike something which directly causes pain, wrongdoing in most cases causes pleasure. That itself makes wrongdoing a reinforcing behavior and there are many aspects to why a certain thing is wrong, so one punishment may not be enough to combat both.

Ultimately, you must find the punishment that whoever you are punishing responds best to. You just have to be careful that your punishment passes the would I do this in public test.
FamilyRe: Wife Beatings in Africa by allonym: 4:07am On Nov 15, 2005
i think this topic is taking the a wrong turn.

Women who are in abusive relationships and choose to stay are not exactly at fault. For whatever reason, they are tied to the abuser. Everywhere in the world, the problem is the same. Women who wont stay in these relationships get out, others stay until something triggers them to run (either kids are threatened or they felt that the last time they were beat, they almost died). Without that trigger, their best source of help is other people and the law. First, the law needs to protect them and provide a way to extricate themselves from that situation and punish the offender. Second, they need people who won't listen to their ("he promised this was the last time") and will goto the authorities.

However, even with this, without the women lodging or filing reports documenting abuse, it is sometimes hard to prove. Then the woman may be able to separate herself, but may lose custody of her children to her abuser. So, for those women, this is a vicious catch-22.
