I praise you for your spirituality. I actually envy you. It would make my life way easier if I could believe.

The only thing I want to point out is that The Bible as it stands is not the only reference for spirituality. It is not even the only source for Christianity. Read some of the Gnostic gospels and writings (unfortunately most of them were destroyed, but some still remain, such as the dead sea scrolls) and you will know and understand that there is far more spirit in these than in the canonized gospels.
It's such a shame that some of the more charismatic churches do not reach back to the roots of where their spirituality comes from.

It must be possible to quantify the spirit. Christians talk all the time of being "more" in Christ or trying to get "more" into the word. So, there must be some quantity of Christ they possess, and some quantity they still need.

then that is your problem. I was just saying that there can be circumstances where a pregnacy forced a couple to get married, however, the pregnacy is not the reason they got married, it just reset their date.

I've watched all (the full version) so far, I started when it first came out. I'm surprised though. Most nigerians at my school aren't interested in Anime. Most US universities are on I2- internet2. Its a much faster connection than regular T1/T3 connections that most other places are on. . from which cable,dsl,dialup buy their stuff. Talk about 10+MB/s downloads! I can get an episode of naruto in under a minute :-) so I usually get them on Wednesday - thats the time that they've been subbed in english after their release Tuesday in Japan (which is actually late Monday US time).

There are two types of rape - statutory and criminal. Statutory rape is consentual sex between a minor and a non minor. Criminal rape is forced intercourse against your will. If a woman penetrates a guy with a strapon against his will, the man has been raped.

You don't have to be stronger than someone to rape them. You can drug them. What do you think date-rape drugs are used for?

the purpose of rape is pleasure? A person could rape someone else to humiliate them, demoralize them, show their power over them, ruin (a woman) for marriage (depending on her culture).

umm, maybe you didn't know that there are many women body builders. In any case, in terms of rape, there are enough strong women and enough weak/not so strong men that it can happen.

How does acting like a man change it from being rape? If a woman slaps you like a man, were you not slapped? If she cheats on you with another woman, you were not cheated on?

Let's clear up some further bullshit here. The studies do not link "HIV resistance" to circumcision, they link male circumcision to a reduced transmission. There is a difference if u look and think closely enough. And I happen to know personally about some of the studies and they are as well conducted and analysed as any study can be. Maybe you should do a search on Ovid or Pubmed etc.
And if you had just paused long enough to read prev posts, you would have seen that nobody is advocating circumcision here. I was just reporting on studies that happen to have statistical significance.
One more thing here, what does "If drastic enough, it will reduce hormone emission through puberty." mean. Did u do biology in school? Cos that is so........

Here are a couple reports. The second one even seems to point to a reason why circumcision could lead to reduced HIV transmission. However, BOTH seem to indicate that there is probably another reason. You don't have to be a genius to figure it out. WHY were the people in study 1 circumcized before puberty and those in study 2 considering circumcision. . . let me take a guess. . . MOST likely, religious reasons. In the first case, there wasn't as big a difference statisically between the two groups as in the second case. The first ones - men who probably grew up in the church/mosque or had religious parents to some degree - though its possible some didn't since circumcisions are so routine doctors sometimes just perform them and parents have no clue why they're really doing it. In the second case, these men CHOSE to become circumcized. They clearly were devoting themselves to something. And I'm guessing, no premarital sex was part of what they are dedicating themselves to. Since NOBODY would have HIV in the second study when it began, it makes PERFECT sense that those men will have drastically smaller numbers.

So, I still say - circumcision alone does NOT provide any protection from HIV.

- further clarification - we are talking about Female Genital Mutilation on this thread - not exactly circumcision. The articles clearly indicates reason's why a female may undergo circumcision (if you have a problem, look up the exact definition of the word).

Not only do I think there is too weak a link between genetics and behavior, but based on what you said, genetics only sets limits on behavior.

So, if we imaging limits as speed limits, then we have:

1) Drivers who will obey the speed limit
2) Drivers who will seriously under drive the limit
3) Drivers who will exceed the speed limit
4) Drivers who will push themselves to the limit and stay there.

Your suggestion is that for drivers in category 3) we don't allow them to reproduce.

I don't know if this explains the second part of my disagreement with you any better. But I felt I had to say it for completion. .

maybe the two decided to wait until marriage for sex and thus did not have any idea there would be such a difference in their urges.

Ok, lets clear up some bullshit

1) Male circumcision is not done for health reasons. There is minimal health benefits to circumcision and certainly no resistance to aids. Male circumcision is like getting a hair cut, only, the hair NEVER grows back. Male circumcision, removes some nerve tissue from the penis, but the effect is not noticeable by men and it does not affect hormone release at puberty.

2) female circumcision also has no heath benefit. If drastic enough, it will reduce hormone emission through puberty. As a result, women who have undergone this would have a much reduced sex drive. Sex drive refers to you're body's response or desire - not your mind. A man suffering from erectile disfunction can want to have all the sex in the world, however, his body will betray him with ZERO erection.

The studies linking HIV resistance with circumcision are badly conducted - or the results badly interpreted and anyone telling you that there is some great medical benefit to circumcision does not know what they are talking about.
