ok, so this is what i need to provide:

1) Sources showing environment determines behavior more than genetics

2) Sources showing psycopaths possess qualities we would admire in others

But, while I may agree with your argument about genetics setting limits for behavior, I disagree with your conclusion that in some cases, chemical castration should be employed. I don't think I can bring up sources for this because this probably hasn't been studied by many scientists recently. (In the past, chemical castration was used on a wide variety of ppl, mainly minorities, and I would not want to quote from those studies).

So, taking your statement - genetics sets limits on behavior - I say, its still not enough justification for castration in any case. If my gene's don't limit my behavior, then it is up to ME to do so. People who commit the crimes that would meet your standard for castration still chose to do it. Just because their genes allowed them to push themselves past a certain point does not mean that if everyone or someone else had similar "limits or nonlimits" they will turn out the same way.

I must say, you are a very nice business person. If I had a company that made batteries (say 1000/month) but have the capacity to actually churn out (3000/month) and someone asks for 2000 in a given month, guess what!! they get charged a higher price if they will NOT wait a few months? Why, because they are asking for a service at a premium. Their time costs money. So, your spiel about not accepting higher payment for faster delivery just means you are in a different type of business.

Even if I would accept your argument that genetics provides some bounds for behavior, I'm sure you know that a lot of the characteristics of a mass murderer - I'm trying to guess what kind of heinous crime you mean - are some of the same characteristics of other powerful (and non lethal) people in our society. Screening by genetics would then remove both sets of people.

- Look at the mob justice in Nigeria - is that a heinous crime deserving of capital punishment or chemical castration - it would seem many Nigerians possess such a "gene".

Even if I accepted that part of your argument, I still don' t feel castration is an adequate solution. I don't feel capital punishment is a solution - it isn't, - it's supposed to be a deterrant. Its been shown that in most cases, people who commit - higher "degree" crimes tend to have started from smaller ones. The solution would be to attempt to find a way to rehabilitate or remove problems which may cause entry into crime. Of course there will still be people who commit them. But this solution is better for a couple reasons.

1) Chemical castration only reduces any possibility of FUTURE offspring DIRECTLY from that person. Technology is moving to the point where you don't need sperm or egg to form a human being
2) The problem with the person still exists - and still needs a solution

I wouldn't say most people said they were shown their true tendencies by others - more likely someone encouraged them to not be ashamed of how they feel.

If homosexuality is a learned behavior, then how exactly did it arise? You would have me believe that there are homosexual cults which while kids are away from their heterosexual parents snare them in and show them how much fun homosexual sex is and this happens so much that the kid begins to think it is ok?

Its like you're saying there is some great conspiracy that manages to suck children in while they are away from other authority.

I suppose when someone is selling their laptop online on ebay and they get an email from a potential buyer saying, I will send you a $1500 western union money order for your $1200 laptop if you ship it immediately, they are greedy for agreeing to the transaction. They get an email which seems to be from western union recording the transaction. They send their laptop, then find out a month later the email was faked. Wow, we are so greedy.

How about, the next time you sell your car or something, and the buyer says, no, I can't meet that $X how about $X/100, you don't be greedy and actually sell your car for $X/100. Or the next time the police ask you for a bribe, instead of being stingy and withholding all your money, you give it to them. With your example, we shall eradicate "greed" from this world.

by the words in your last sentence, if a person thinks they are moral, and believes that they are performing moral actions, then they are not being motivated by greed.

Obviously, you have not fallen prey to a scam before, perhaps you are nigerian and are a member of the 90+% of the population with nothing to lose. Or maybe you are a scammer yourself, or maybe you are part of the 1% of the population with more money than you can deal with. For the rest of the world, we know what it is to fall prey to a scam and it not be caused by our greed.
