Prunes are dried plums. Most of the liquid is dried off so it has a very high fibre content.

Check a shop with a good baking section with dried fruits. You are most likely to find it there.

You can then add a few prunes to a fruit smoothie or blend with a bit of water.

Or if you have a shop that you can the pouch puree by ellas kitchen from. That works as well, just try not to feed him the whole pouch at once!

Its a really touchy topic, i am unsure how i will react BUT i will advise the cheater to leave the house for an unstipulated amount of time because at the point where the cheating has been uncovered..... their life expectancy is very greatly reduced.

Some will say... you are chasing him into another womans hands.. the marriage is already potentially ended, so the cheater will be wise to choose his/her destination carefully.

so if he is truely repentant or at least making a show of repentance that will not be an issue he will find some place sensible to chill while tempers cool and we decide what is happening to the marriage.

Choose your co-cheaters house and it will confirm that the idiot is blatantly unnrepentant so the other patry will have clarity on matters. End the relationship it is beyond salvation.

Do macho man and stay in your house and get buried under the mango tree in the backyard by day break. I mean ...... accidents happen!

Introspection should be the first thing a cheated partner should do. What aren't you doing right? Are you fatter, less romantic, more stingy, or busier than when the love was hot? Has your sex life been monotonous with no improvement in bedmatics?
Answers to this questions should give you a go-ahead as to how you can resolve the ish.
Ofcus some partners cannot naturally stay with one partner, if your spouse is a chronic cheat, pls take a walk. No long stories.

Like seriously!!!

A cheating partner is a grown ar.se adult, and all you can say is the person being cheated on is the cause for the straying?

Please we have been hearing this excuse since Adam. E chop apple finish he talk say "the woman made me do it!" Why you no talk no! Abi eve put cutlass for e neck?

What happened to will power, and taking responsiblity for ones actions. If the cheater feels the other party has changed what happened to talking to the person to let them know they have become less affectionate? The reason for the withdrawal could even be because of the cheaters own actions.

My views about this topic is unpopular but here goes :

Save yourself first! If you must still have sex with the cheat, protect yourself. Get and use a "female" condom. Asking the cheat to wear one might lead to long talk and arguments.
There are good vibrators out there and quite cheap, get one or two, might cone in handy on some nights, body no be firewood.

Don't just jump up and leave overnight in anger, the world, including that of the cheat, will go on fine just without you. THINK. Think about your children, finances and yourself ie biz, career. Can you comfortably take care of yourself and kids in the next two years without going under water?

Play a fool and plan. Does the cheat have solid, tangible investments and how can you lay your hands on them and/or legally convert them to yours even if it will involve kissing his ar. Se temporarily?

I ain't a fan of prayers for cheating spouse, informing pastors/imams, third parties etc. Well, if you have a wise mother, you can confide and plan along with her else keep it to yourself. The less people that know, the better.

Never confront the sidechyk or mistress. You have no business with them, the cheat is a grown adult and doesn't put molded eba in his nose. He made his choice, it sucks but you gotta deal with it.

Lastly, are you open to forgiveness and starting afresh if there's true repentance? I would but it's a personal decision.

NO he didnt carry out any text this is my first trial he just prescribed it. Hope it wont affect me

i do not know the affects but i know they usually only use it for 3 - 4 months max. after which if no luck, other treatments will be considered.

When he prescribed it for you, he should have followed up with scan appointment(s) sometime mid-cycle to follow up on your egg(s) development, this will guide you in maximizing your changes of having intercourse around your ovulation days... otherwise you may just be medicating unnecessarily and missing your chances and shooting blanks.

Forr instance if you know that you are a day or 2 away from Ovualtion and your hubby wants to do unnecessary out of town parole on the days, lai lai oh he should be on shag duty! na from hospital you go call am say...." bobo yi! Come home early oh!"

or if you been dey vex for Oga and doctor has told your this weekend your chances are highest, you will get wisdom to cool down for oga as a higher purpose is at hand. lol

Also your chances of having multiples when taking clomid is much higher. people react differently to these thing and if you hyper -ovulate when taking it, they are likely to pick it up in the scans , so they do not risk you fertilizing sextuplets or more, which has its own set of risks associated with such pregnancies.

Also are you seeing a proper gynecologist or is it general practitioner........... please ensure your doctor has the right skills for the advise he is giving you. some Naija doctors know how to punch above their weights and start dabbling in areas which they should just simply give you a referal to a specialist.

Nope i dont have any issue at all the doctor just recommended it when i told him i and DH were ready to start having babies.

How long have you been trying for? clomid may be used as the first stage of fertility treatment and in that case you need to be monitored to ensure that you are actually ovulating.... from my experience you need to be trying for atleast 6 months first before your gynea will even be considered as a potential fertility issue.

it would be wrong/ irresponsible for the doctor to just prescribe clomid like paracetamol! and ask you to take it for however long and see what happens

it should be combined with regular scans to see how your ovaries are reacting to it, measure your egg(s) developement and also give you a time frame of when ovulation is likely so that you can maximize the opportunity.

if he did not do any of this...... biko change your doctor!

So I went to register for my ds infant baptism and the catechist after collecting registration money of 7h said I can't baptise him with the name Zion that its has not been heard of and the name is too powerful that I should choose a saint name. Meanwhile a lady came also and registered her baby as Destiny. I asked him if Destiny is a saint name and he said it's Godly name.

Abeg una fit help me ask priests you are close to what is wrong in baptising my son with the name Zion, so I would know if the wahala is just the catechist. That's even what we already have in his birth certificate.

Catholic maamas no read pass me abeg.

Bull$#!t!

Go and speak directly to your priest. I know people who are baptised with their traditional names... osa... olu.... chi... etc.

Your arguement....

The saints were once normal people and most of the saints names are not necessarily biblical, therefore if you want to choose a name as long as the name has a good meaning that should be the determinant factor.

For example very close to home since you are ibo and if your priest is as well he will connect with you on this,

Cyprian Iwene Tansi , that is a saint / blessed, will the pope say because his name is not john the cannot be cannonised? Please show me where cyprian is in the bible, the name simply means one from cyprus, it doent even have a particularly fantastic meaning. I have no idea what iwene or tansi means but neither of them are biblical or saintly!

Or will God ask you in heaven that since your name is not a saints name you cannot enter heaven?

Also What does the cathechist mean the name is too powerful?

Does he realise that some latino people even bear Jesus as first names. Can it be more powerful than that? and we no carry catholic church put for head like they do.

It is your priest that will baptise the child, speak to him or go to another parish if your own are being ridiculous.

@ ummtwins I think u should measure the circumference of the babys head then work with that.crochet up to the length and close/finish up
I would even crochet more than the usual length and use a smock thread to finish the base of the crown.the part that looks like headband. Thread a needle with a smock thread and pass it vertically/straight up through the stitches of the headband part all the way around.that way it can stretch and fit perfectly

Vertically or horizontally

I didn't mean how to do d top edge design o, I can make that....i meant d band, how/where does the band close up to size d head? Dnt even know if i'm making sense angry
I can make d top edge design. Made this baby shawl 2yrs ago when I was pregnant with my son

Measure around the head you are making the crown for then.......

make a chain that is that length or maybe sightly shorter - no more than 1/2" shorter to cater for stretch ( this is quite key if your hand is
"loose" , if your hand is a bit tight the you may want to stick to the actual measurement, , then join with a slip stitch and work in the rounds from there to form your base ring

OR

Make a chain to the required length and then work like a rectangle when you finish you join the short ends to make a ring.

Hello house, I want to make a crochet crown; something like the pix attached but don't know how to close up the end ( finishing) pls help o
Weldone oga Ynnk, tatacherie ur works r lovely. How's Akela doing?

Google crochet edging to have an idea. Then when you do your base circle abi na cylinder/ ring, you do an edging that corresponds with the number of stitches in your base. Ie. Most edging will have a repetition of a set number of stitches e.g the pattern repeats every 10 stitches so your base ring will be in multiple of 10.
Then most likely finish the with a slip stitch /picot sticth as the last round.

To add stiffness... i believe you will need to starch and dry it on a maniquine head or bowl or something, to help maintain its shape.

I hope i am making sense...

I appreciate your feedback @hunniesuzie, @alphahandmaiden and @enque.

You all addressed my concerns especially as it relates to brand and advertised ingredients.
My question arose because I kept reading about using iron fortified formula for babies and looking through various brands, I found it difficult to make a choice.

Alphahandmaiden, does that mean that when giving formulas that lack certain ingredients e.g. iron, the mother can supplement by giving multivitamin that contains iron to the baby?

hunniesuzie, my mum gave me NAN while growing too. smiley

enque, we are still doing EBF. 4months don reach so I'm trying to prepare ahead of 6 months if we are well able to sustain the momentum.

I would be very surprised if formular did not contain iron and the usual vitamins/mineral. Such as calcium, zinc, iodine, magnesium, vitamins A, B, C, D, E & K and the like.

Some higher end brands tend to have other specialist formulations that they claim makes it superior or better than your usual formular it is very much like pregnacare, pregancare max and all the other pregnacare suffixes.... with every suffux is a price increase. It doesnt mean if you take the normal pregnacare your baby will come out with 2 heads and 3 eyes.

The difference may just be an additional ingredient or higher doses of the same basic ingredients so if aptamil for instance has 33% of your daily dose of riboflavin per serving, and sma only has 16% in it at half the price, if you cannot afford aptamil, you can buy sma and top up with multivitamins if you wish.

It is by no means saying sma is an inferior product because they are at least providing your daily minimum requirements. Anything on top of that is a bonus.

Super mamas! I salute everyone.

Please I will appreciate your contributions on reasons that informs your decision on buying infant formula for your baby aside cost. Thank you mas.

.

well for me in order of preference:

1. It was perception on what is the "Best" out there.

2. then it is how much does it cost, can i afford it, if not then i go for the next best.

3. Next is actually the final decider - does baby take it ok with no reactions, stooling/ constipation, no intolerances and is digested OK. if the baby doesnt take it well , you will go back and try another brand. you will not force feed your baby something that causes them discomfort. if it is the N200 one that you baby takes well, you will sideline the N25K product if you baby reacts to it and buy added vitamins if that will help your concience! grin

those are my own criteria.

i say perception as certain brands are said to be better, and as a parent you immediately go for the one that is percieved to be more robust
than the other, however does a baby really need some "omega beta fusion pro complex" that brand A claims it has in its formulation causing it to charge N5,000 more than the other brand that has just the recommended vitamins/ mineral requirements? no one really knows!

but finances are the biggest criteria at the end of the day, there is no need in buying formular worth 25K when you know deep down you cannot sustain it, (please save your money and use it to invest in future school fees). if you are exclusively formular feeding the costs can get astronomical if you are not mentally and financially prepared for it.

i was lucky enough to be able to EBF for 6 months so i only introduced formular from 8 months - 13 months in combination with solids, but even at that .... i felt the increase in cost especially as it was only 1 income at the time as i was off work for a year.

Hope this helps

AlphaHandMaiden:

Yes. Car seat  is  from  birth. Hospitals in places  like the US and UK will not discharge you if you do no have a  car seat to  take your baby home in.

It is an essential safety equiptment. They come in various  sizes, 0, 1, 2 , 3 and  range from newborn to about 12 years.   The  size  0 is  the  size  for newborn to  about 9-12 months depending on how big or tall your child is.  Size 1  is  from 9 months  to  about 3yrs.
Sometimes  you have  combined  sizes  like  0,1,2. This  will usually have  a seperate newborn insert.

Personally  from experience,   i believe it is better to buy the individual sizes.... in case you have a  2nd child,   you will just be passing down the  outgrown one  down to  the  2nd  child. The combinedd  sizes  are also more  expensive.

Also for  car seats  this  should be  rear facing for  any size  0 at  least.

You can fix it  either by seat belts or  using  isofix.

I personally prefer Isofix. It is  more expensive  but it reduces the margin for error considerably and is  far easier to use. It will need a seperate  base and if you car is newish (about 10 yrs old i think) it will have sets of  hooks in the passenger seats that the base hooks  to. You leave  the base  permanently in the car  and  then  your carseat just clips into place  with an indcator that tells you all is  done correctly.

Please note  the  base is  NOT universal,  so  it is  per  brand  and  usually it will fit  a particular  car seat(s) of  a brand  so make sure you get  them  together.

Does your  toddler  also have a  car seat? Ideally  both kids  will need  to  be  strapped in.
For  this one  you may decide to  get   the  convertible type . You do not need  a  base  for  this  as  you do not need  to carry it up and  down.  So  this  one  you fix with the  car seat belt.

Previous post on  buying  second hand -  hope you find it useful.

Thanks for the response. I will try the suggestions as you said. Won't I need a sowing machine for the DIY tasks?? Can they be done with the hands? I am not presently in Lagos...married outside Lagos. But I was there before I got married. Why did you ask please?

You do not need a sewing machine, just brush up on your hand sewing skills. all you are doing is adding a few pieces to a finished garment so it is mimimal sewing. Sewing machine is nice to have but not essential.

I ask if you are in lagos because i may have a few items either new or very sparingly used ( dd got lots of presents and hand-me -downs from her older cousins and in all honesty even if i have another girl, i may not get to use them much) If you would like them. I can try to have them in Lagos before christmas and you can arrange pick up from there. You can send me a pm.

Mamas in the house ....Una well done ooo. Please I need suggestions and advice ooo. Mamas that had one gender in first pregnancy and had another gender in the second pregnancy, please how did prepare for the second baby ? How did you do your second shopping especially in terms of clothings and the likes especially when you are on low budget?

Other mamas have already given great tips. let her wear her brother's clothes even the shorts and trousers. a few girly tops are all that are needed. with a low budget one needs to get creative.

DIY girls clothes are also easy to make and oh- soooooo cute: so do not rule out making a few pieces or re-working things to suit you when your dd is a bit older.

A few tips can be found here: you can also modify a few of her bro's Tshirts in to gowns with matchin ankara or printed fabrics ( you will find link picture tutorial on how this is done.

Hello mamas in the house. Thk God for all the blessings he has given to us and ones to come. Am part of the house but I hv been far away for some time now. I have an issue which I know the house will enlightened me more, preggy for 7weeks but scan is saying 5wks and 4days....am confused has anyone be in this situation bf?

If your 7 weeks is based on your own calculation from LMP then discrepancy could be as a result of the lenght of your cycle. If your period is longer than 28 days your calculation could be off by up to a week or more.

I was advised that earliest that a decent scan will clearly show viability is 8 weeks. Anything done before that is unclear and will likely just cause unnecessary panic.

Unless there is a risk of ectopic pregnancy why do some hospitals scan women earlier than that and start doing sonographer/medic speak giving the poor woman hypertension? In a normal pregnancy your first scan should be at 12 weeks. So please i know we women can get excited once we miss out periods especially if you have been trying for a while but please wait a bit before going for your first scan after your BFP, especially if you are not having any major issues. It will save you weeks of stress and anxiety.

Erutoria, i would advise, wait at least 2 more weeks maybe even 3 weeks take your vitamins and folic acid, avoid strenous activities, rest well.
then go and redo the scan and also request for transvirginal scan as the images are clearer that early in the pregnancy.

I pray it ends well.

Team August dropping it hot

Hamdulillah for safe deliveries thus far. May He make them sources of Blessing to each household.
Congrats to you all.

Meanwhile, we aint here to play at all, see mamas dropping a week b4 their EDDs.

Baby biko nu o, come out.

Quick questions for those who have delivered especially First time mums:

1. How long was baby engaged for before s/he was delivered.

2. For a pelvic exam, does having a borderline pelvis mean the chance of having a VD is quite slim?

Pls i need answers, do not pass by.

Thanks in advance

For question one..... i started hearing "the baby is engaged" since like 36 weeks. I had already started dancinf... ... she came 40w +1. So being engaged doesnt necessarily mean, s/he will be out in a few days..

For Question 2:
I have no idea. I guess it also depends on the size of your baby. I have a friend whose pelvis was a bit narrow and both her babies were big. She managed a vaginal delivery, on close monitoring from her doctors.

I would say just free your mind and put it all in God's care if doctors propose cs.. abeg go along with them.
What you do not want is to do strong head on top VD. Labour for 2 days and still have to do a cs because baby gets stuck and episiotomy / instrumental assistance is not working.
