Nairalander01: Sorry for the late responsse Irish potatoes - thinly sliced and partially precooked - either microwave or boiled Onions - largely chopped Bell peppers - various colours - largely chopped. Hot pepper - optional Eggs - beaten Cheese - optional. Seasoning - to our taste Stir fry onions and pepper base, add the precooked potatoes and stir fry till they are fully cooked. Season to taste - you can add some cheese to the mix. set aside to cool a bit so it doesnt scramble the egg as you add it. Add your beaten egg and mix thoroughly when it has cooled. add to an oven proof dish sprinkly the remaining cheese on top and pop into the oven till the egg is set. Sorry no quantities oh. just use your eye to guage it. the egg should be enough to just coat everything without the potato mix swiming inside it. 1 Like 1 Share |

comtem2011: Mama we are in the same camp! C.c Chanbaby I started early as well. At about 6 months. Not intentionally but as I got tired of catching live poop once nappy came off. I got a potty. Put on it after every nappy change (if possible) and first thing in the morning and before our evening bath! It is hit and miss at that time but seriously celebrate even a drop of wee or a tiniest poop! Gradually they then associate the potty for those uses and they do not think it is a pirate ship! Lol! By 1 year we were catching 70 -80% of poop. And by 18 months my DD would tell you she needed to poo! We started proper potty training ( i.e diaper free and panties only at day time) weekend before the new year and in one week we had only 2 accidents. Note DD was only 25 months at the time. Now she is a pro! She can go to the potty herself, pulling down trousers and pants and wearing them back without much assistance. So for me.... starting early is definitely it! My next task is how finalise night time potty training. She is dry 5 out of 7 nights on average and even wakes up sometimes to pee at night! so I hope that one will be a minor hurdle to cross. I have stoppedd giving her a cup of milk at bedtime and that has helped a lot as well. 1 Like 1 Share |

babythug: Cous cous can be challenging if you want to eat like rice and stew.... it is a dish that needs a LOT of support. I.e. you make like fried rice... AND.... you have a juicy sauce to go with it. I usually use lamb or goat meat to make my own version of tagine! Any other way.... I might as well just drink garri! 1 Like |

nnekaike: For the feeding, as already advised express and feed either with bottle or spoon to see the quantity she can take . Babies can be very efficient suckers so it may be nothing to worry about. Also wake her up if she is sleeping. My rd was like that. 2 sucks and she knocks out...... give her a gently tap when you see she is sleeping off or tickle her on her feet or sides or brush her cheeks to wake her For the breathing, you can take her to see a peadiatrican, just to ease your mind. however babies have a higher breathing and heart rate than adults. So it may be completely ok as long as her colouring is normal, you ensure there is adequate ventilation around her, She is sucking well and not showing signs of breathing difficulty like struggling to breath. Monitor her for a day or so before going to see your peadiatrician for the all clear. This way you can tell him in detail any symptoms you may have noticed. Pele. Eku... motherhood! |

babythug: They are quite different. Whilst quinoa is more like a grain ( unprocessed) cous cous is actually a processed form of durum wheat. Much like semolina ( not the Naija type oh). It is already partially cooked and dehydrated whereas quinoa you have to cook properly like rice from scratch. Some people substitute quinoa with rice in some dishes as it is healthier but I have not reach that level of maturity yet biko. Nothing beats hot white rice and pepper stew! 1 Like |

Giddyperson:e Cous cous is BAE. I always had a sauce base in my freezer and couscous was my lazy mama dish! All you need to prepare it is boiling water ( not on the fire) just enough to cover it and A knob of butter. Cover it and let it steam. Then you can use any sauce! Make it like fried rice - stir fry your veg and add the cous cous to it. Make tomato sauce ( onion+ tomato) plain, with sardine, Titus, chopped chicken, or other meat. And add to your couscous. For younger babies.. just blend your sauce or veggie base and add to your cous cous The ultimate lazy meal was blended sweet corn a knob of butter and couscous. Like seriously boiling the water was the longest part. 7 Likes 8 Shares |

booqee: It is not unsafe - it is just unnecessary. Are you Exclusively breast feeding? If so tell her to buy you the breast feeding vitamins for you to Take and transfer to baby. Also ensure you are eating well and properly hydrated Are you formula feeding?.... show your mum the pack with the loooooong list of minerals and vitamins on the formulae tin and compare it with the abidec to show her that She has just spent money unnecessarily. She could have invested that into a tin of baby formulae at least she is killing 2 birds with one stone that way. Baby fed and full of vitamins. Sometimes grandmas although with the best intentions can be a handful, whilst you may want to indulge them attimes, you also need to let them know YOU call all the final shots when it comes to anything involving your baby. And your authority should not be undermined. NOTHING goes into your baby's mouth or o her without your permission or approval. 10 Likes |

Maggiespecial: A new born stomach is very tiny - see image reference below so they need very little in the first few days.. Plus they are usually born with fat reserves to last a few days before the main milk comes in. That being said. Keep putting baby to breast at least every 2 hours. This will help you stimulate the milk. Also the proper milk takes a few days to come, usually at day 3 or 4 you will notice the insane heaviness in your breasts so relax. Take lots of fluids, eat well, enjoy your motherhood and ensure you practice your baby latching on well in these early days. What you are producing now is colostrum which in some people it's more visible than in others. You can also keep an eye on the poop and pee. As a sign that baby is feeding - the colustrum / milk helps push the meconuium out. So if he or she is having good bowel movents, you will see the colour gradually change from black to yellow. See picture reference below. Also regular pee also indicated he is taking in fluid and all the plumbing down below is working just fine. Congratulations on your baby. 18 Likes 8 Shares

babythug: CC Chii8 Regarding this potty training business, I sincerely believe the convinience of disposable nappies have made parents lazy - in the 50's the average age of potty training was 15 months...... how come in 2018 it has doubled to 30 months 2 Likes |
Health / Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by AlphaHandMaiden(f): 11:27am On Mar 02, 2018 |
booqee: Babies tend to swallow a lot of air which forms air bubbles in their stomachs. they also do do this a lot when feeding - not as much when breast feeding especially if they have a good latch, however with bottle fed babies the air intake is much more. That is why you may notice when babies are bottle fed, they tend to burp quicker than when you breast feed them. Some babies show more discomfort with this than others, burping helps relieve this air and also reduces the milk spit-ups as if there are air bubbles the milk feed sits on top of the air. when the air finally come s out it is likely to carry all the milk along with it. if this happens and baby is lying down, it may enter their nose as well and thats not very pleasant! In newborns, this may be compounded by reflux as well, as the muscles keeping the food down are not fully formed therefore burping and keeping baby upright for a bit after food allows the food to settle thereby reducing the occurrences of reflux. by 3 months or so, you will notice a marked imporvement as s/he grows and the throat muscles mature! The most difficult part is when you have to burp at Stupid'O'Clock at night and you are exhausted and half asleep your self! you are tempted to drop baby immediately after feeding. we have all been there, it aint easy! but i will will say try actively for at least 5 mins before you put baby back down to sleep. 2 Likes |
