OK thanks dear...i dont think it has anything to do with the taste of the pap...i actually tried Frisogold..the rice based cereal which is very sweet and he refused it...I tried cerelac, he took very little..just today I also tried potatoe puree with fish, which came out very nice..he took little as well.. I just wish he cld get his large appetite back...

Thanks or the link...I guess I ll have to keep trying

What quantity are you expecting him to finish?

For guidance, A baby's tummy is as big as their fist. So use that to gauge the food size So you reduce waste.

In the first few weeks of introducing solids a few spoons is considered success. Dont beat your self up. Do not expect him to finish a whole bowl of cereal, if he does, all well and good. He is also learning to control his tongue to swallow thicker food fed from a
Spoon rather than sucking from a bottle or nipple which is placed at a different position in the mouth. so sometimes the spitting out is just him getting the hang of it. It's only been a few weeks. Give it some time.

Feed whatever solid you give and and when he indicates he is no longer interested still give him milk, to top up afterwards. Maybe like 150ml rather than say 210ml.

Hello sabi mamas...pls I'm having feeding issues with my DS who is 6months 2weeks old. Before he clocked 5.5months, he had an excellent appetite...took BM and Formula welllla..as soon as i introduced pap and cereals, his appetite dropped drastically. Feeding him most times have turned to tug of war...even his beloved formula, he hardly takes anymore...

I started him on multivitamin early this month but his appetite is still same..some say its because he is yet to cut his first tooth... Just wondering if there's any technique that worked for other mums who experienced this kind of issue...pls help a FTM out...

Thanks

Vary his diet, there is more to solids than pap and cereals.

For me pap is the blandest thing you can give a baby, (ogi voltrons will say otherwise)

Scroll for food on the thread the lists are endless.

For a start - You can read up on some ideas here.

my surest mamas i need your advise, my baby(1yr 4months) has been stooling for like two weeks now, its yellowish and runny like mucus, have taken her to the hospital and she was given iv injection, pleased on ORS&Zinc but her stool is still not back to normal sad
Any advise please? The doctor said she will be fine but I think its taken too Long IMO...
secondly what kind of milk do I mix with her golden morn? Is it normal peak milk or the peak 123?

If she is otherwise healthy and active, question What her typical diet is? And especially anything introduced of late.

If she is not getting enough fibre or her gut is lacking in "Good" bacteria it could throw things off balance.

On the second question normal whole cream peak is fine for her and she really shouldn't be taking golden morn It's too sweet. If you must mix it with something like weetabix or shredded wheat.

Some people have also mentioned it's from 3 yrs? So check the pack to be sure.

Thank you so much. I'll get the cream. Are both of them same i.e lanolin and lansinol

Lansinol is a brand.

Lanolin is the name of the product itself for example like shea butter.

You may see other brands just make sure it's content is 100% lanolin

I am a FTM with a 12days old baby. I came across this thread while searching for a solution to my problem. I have a sore on my nipple on both breast. My LO was biting with her gum while sucking and it gave me a sore which is very painful. Everyone kept saying I should allow her keep sucking that it will heal but instead it becomes extremely painful. Had to stop breastfeeding her for a while so I can heal. I express by hand and feed with the bottle. Abeg sabi mamas how can I get the sore to heal fast. I miss breastfeeding my DD. Please make una help me for this matter.

Congratulations on your baby!
Get lanolin ni.pple cream.
Lansinol is a good popular brand.

Apply to your nipple inbetween feeding her. It is baby safe and you do not need to wash off before breastfeeding your baby.

Ensure she also latches properly as that may aggravate the pain if she is not latching well.

All the best dear.

Hi mamas! Trust the day went great. Baby suddenly developed rash in the space between his butt cheeks i.e. bumbum. Not on the bum itself but that space. Someone prescribed tribotan but wanted to ask here too. Never happened before, no change of diaper or wipes. Thanks

Ensure that place is dry before you wear nappies. They kind of rash is usually caused by moisture. After wiping, pat dry with a towel or tissue. Apply your prescribed cream and let it air dry for a bit before diaper goes on.

Evening mamas,

Pls don't say my question is irrelevant, I assume some mamas have had the issue before.

I know that it's written on baby's formula that the content should be discarded after 4 weeks of opening but I'm really wondering if the content can be used by someone else not necessarily baby especially in a situation where it's still practically full after 4 weeks.

For example, if I drink/lick it, would it affect baby or what if an older child makes use of it? Is it that the formula gets spoilt or it's just no longer at premium quality for a baby?

My ijebu side is asking so I can determine what size of formula to buy. I give my lo formula once or twice in a day so I'm concerned about what if it remains or I should increase his intake to avoid waste.?

the reason for the consume by date of 4 weeks from opening is for hygiene and sterility reasons not necessarily because the formula will go bad.

The formula is packaged in sterile conditions and that is guaranteed until it is opened as long as it is within its expiry date. once anything is opened it tends to harbour germs, and after 4 weeks they cannot guarantee its conditions. so there is a risk there which some parents are not prepared to take, although some may use it up to 7 days past that 4 week date.

You can increase intake to avoid waste, also depending on the age of the baby, just 1 or two feed a day will use up a tin of formular!. i introduced formular at 7 months and a tin lasted me 1 month with only one - two 210ml feeds per day with the 800g cardboard tin with plastic cover.

Good morning. How is everyone doing? Trust good.

Started putting dd on the potty for poop from 7 months after we had established a good intake of solids and poop was no longer liquid. She usually had a poop face. So once I see that - it's a mad dash to the potty. By 12 months she we were catching 8 out of 10 poops. And by 18 months she would tell you when she wanted to poop. 9 out of 10 times

This really helped as it meant I wasn't dealing with poop and pee together at the same time. Also starting her early meant she already got used to seating on the potty and didn't resist when she was older and could run away.

For pee..... well we just went gangsta and bought cotton pants for her when she was 26 months. First weekend we mopped a lot! By the end of the week we had only 1 accident. But you need to keep reminding and asking, as they forget especially when the play is sweet! You also have to take them to the loo, at least every 30 mins even if they say no! Because she will say no then practically 2 seconds later.... You hear... oh I am wet! shocked and see they have unleashed the rivers of Babylon on you!

Or you may even take them to the loo and nothing comes out and them 2 mins later you see that your sofa is wet! angry

So a whole lotta patience is needed.

Fast forward to 32 months, she is a pro!

We have packed up most of our cloth nappies.
We only use nappies at night but even at that she only pees in the nappy once a month or so on average.

I didn't do anything regarding the night one. She practically wakes up at night by herself and will come to our room to be taken to pee. Or she holds it till morning. Once or twice she went to the potty by herself at night. But still came to wake us that she had already pee'd.

Let me teach you a sure method. 100% guaranteed.

Move closer here.

When its time to do the do, just balance on ya head and be twerking.
After the do, run round your compound naked 7 times shouting "Orisha Ibeji o!"
Then don't drink water for 7 days. But you can eat food sha.
The next 7 days drink water but don't eat any food at all.

Do a pregnancy test and come and tell me thank you.
Twin boys will be jejely sitting comfortably kiss

Don't mention wink

LWKMD!
This your solution sef

You for kuku add say the nakid running should at high noon, on the day that not a cloud is in the sky which preceeds a full moon with a hummingbird perched on your fence!

@spiceeamiee you are not alone ma.., that's how I feel these days. I just need help. pls any mama with remedy to the back pain should tell us cos I always have back/waist pain which started since I gave birth.

In other news, my baby's creche is beginning to bring new policies now.. First, they've stopped us from entering the class, I get to drop and pick her outside (no worries here).

They are keen on me feeding baby before bringing her to school and I noticed that if I don't they won't give her till past 9 or 10.
There are days I have to leave home early and my baby doesn't like her food rushed. She prefers to wake, play a lil before eating that way she won't be too fussy with food.
Her food today seems like she didn't eat much.
Also I was told I'll pay #500 if I'm 30mins late to pick her. Are these the normal way it's done or my own is overdoing it cos I think they need clearing o.

Mamas pls chook mouth

the above boldened are red flags in my book. what do you mean by picking them outside?. do you mean you wait outside and they bring your child to you. your child should not leave the premises of his or her room without the parent in attendance, this is a CRECHE and not primary school where you can drop at the gate. there should be at least 2 levels of security before your child is taken out of his room.

you should be able to go into the room that your baby is being cared for at drop off and pick-up NO MATTER THE TIME OF THE DAY YOU ARRIVE. it is usually at these times you will observe the condition of the room, if there are glaring safety hazards, the child / minder ratio, how the other children look, do they seem happy and content? you will even spy the kitchen, or food preparation areas and changing areas

Regarding the feeding, what time do you drop your baby off at creche. if they open for example at 7am, it is unrealistic that they ask you to feed your baby beforehand, what is even more worrying if the babies are kept till 9:00 - 10:00 before any meal is provided to them. 10 am is a bit late as breakfast for a baby. their breakfast times should coincide within an hour of drop off in my opinion.

Speak to other parents at the creche and see what their views are however I would suggest you look for an alternative facility and move your child to.

please mothers my baby is just 10days old and he has these rashes all over his body ,though doctor gave us ampiclox and nystatin cream but its getting worst ... am worried
please experienced mothers what will I use to treat it.

Oh dear. Pele. The is lot of rash.
Another thing to consider.....
What are you using to wash his clothes and beddings? Make sure your thoroughly rinse before drying especially If using washing machine, always do an extra rinse or 2 before taking them out. Some baby's react to detergent if not rinsed out properly.

the rash is also paricularly bad on the bum area.
Also try changing his nappy brand and avoid using disposable wipes for now. Just use water and cloth wipes or towel for his bum. And allow to air dry before wearing a fresh one.

Just to rule out possible causes, as if it is a reaction to a constant thing, then the meds may not work, as the irritant is still there.

Pele
