Lol... @meobizy, you cracked me up with the "keep trolling behind bars" scenario.

With the stiffer jail-term penalties from Japan, plus incremental heavy fines for repeat offenders... these should be enough to deter even the most stubborn trolls and sick cyberbullies.

CrimeRe: Ping Express: Anslem Oshionebo, Opeyemi Odeyale Jailed In US Over $167 Million by AlphaTaikun: 3:56pm On Jul 18, 2022
babzo:
This story is really inaccurate.

Neither of these two guys were accused of stealing or fraud, but rather not stopping fraudsters? But why has the same system not sent the CEO of Western Union and Moneygram to jail?

Why jail them? Why not fines? Do bank owners or managers get jailed because fraudsters keep money in their banks?.why havnt the managers of Western Union and Moneygram being jailed since all these years?

The story is 100% wrong. Neither of these two men stole any money. I know many grateful Nigerians who used Ping Express to support their loved ones in Nigeria to the anger of the Big 2 ( Western Union and Moneygram). How can you jail a bank MD because fraudsters have accounts with the bank? Something is seriously wrong here. Why have the MDs of Western Union and Moneygram not been jailed for all the billions fraudsters have sent through their companies? Oh I forgot those are not immigrant owned businesses. Worst case they will be given a fine. Or maybe it's because they are "small boys"

All the people who used Ping Express never gave a dime in cash to the company, they sent the money using their bank debit cards. So why have the managers of the banks from where the money came from not being charged?

People will think this is $167 million cash somewhere. No $167 million anywhere. That's the total of funds they legitimately sent on behalf of people.

$50, $100, $200 here and there from 30,000 customers over 5 years. I myself sometimes sent $15 and sometimes $300 or more.

The allegations is on the $1 million + sent by a Fraudster, Collins over a 3 year period. If Ping Express had not verified their customers properly; how would they have been able to track the Collins guy? But Ping did proper verification for all customers.

But the banks where the monies came from to Ping Express are not being questioned.
This is a company I used for years and people came to know.

They followed every rule.

I know the stress I went through to get verified before using their services; license, phone call etc, things I never had to do with Western Union.

They are not accused of fraud, but rather not stopping fraudsters. Then why jail time? To kill their business finally?

When will the CEO of Moneygram and Western Union that Yahoo Boys have been using for over 20 years to send money, be arrested and jailed? NEVER.

Western Union and Moneygram have lost probably billions in the last few Years with the arrival of companies like Ping Express that made sending money to Africa not only faster, but cheaper, direct to bank accounts and 24/7.

Western Union that used to be only available during banking hours. They changed quickly when Ping Express and the new guys positively disrupted the system.

This is really unfortunate.
PoliticsRe: #osundecides2022: Eight Factors That Helped Adeleke Defeat Oyetola by AlphaTaikun: 3:20pm On Jul 18, 2022
sreamsense:
All those factors are irrelevant, reason for his defeat is because he was given opportunity to prove himself in good governance but failed to impress people. There was no visible significant things he has done in remote towns and villages that people can point to. He started building roads in many remote towns and villages when election was approaching which people believe he was only doing that to canvass for election because he may soon abandon them.

He also abandoned good policies of Aregbesola without replacing them with convincing alternatives. Another reason why people voted him out is that he is too dull, no charisma like Aregbesola. Adeleke was only elected because APC did not provide better alternative. Adeleke is just given four years to prove himself if he has something better to offer beyond dancing. If he turns government house to club house or dancing hall, he will be sent packing in the same manner. People of Osun don't hate Tinubu, they just don't want bad product of Oyetola.

You might be surprised that by next year, Tinubu may gather above 80% of Osun votes, because they know him as personally competent, but they never want somebody to hide under him to grab second tenure after glaring non-performance from Oyetola
I like your deep insights in the last 2 paragraphs. You really know what's up. smiley

Nigerian politics is important to the world and this is why Nigerians all over the world (Diasporans and home-based) are following these electoral events as a lead to the coming events of 2023.

The major thing from my observation is that a house divided against itself cannot stand! Abdulrauf Aregbesola and Lasun should not have been excluded in the grand scheme of things in Osun APC. I mean look at how Ijesaland gave the other party more votes than they did to APC when Ijesa people generally have always voted along progressive lines and for APC. And the difference in the votes cast between APC and PDP wasn't much! Sen. Adeleke got a total of 403,371 votes, while the incumbent, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, who got 375,027 votes in the keenly contested race.

The new kid on the block (Sen. Nurudeen "Jackson" Adeleke) has to realise that over 107 countries according to the UN are distressed right now and could be going the way of Sri Lanka so he has to sit up and realise that this is NOT a "JOHN PLAYER NATIONAL DISCO DANCE COMPETITION" that he used to tke part in back in the 1980s. "No blame games... Just do it," otherwise he'll get kicked out by the electorate NEXT time. Governance is NOT a joke.

Thanks for your unbiased and very lucid view HERE.

All the best.

A video showing the moment the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ademola Adeleke, prostrated for Adedeji Adeleke, father of Nigerian singer, Davido after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared him winner of the Osun governorship election has surfaced on social media.

Recall, the Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, announced that Adeleke got a total of 403,371 votes, beating the incumbent, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, who got 375,027 votes in a keenly contested race.

He said, “I declare Adeleke Ademola Jackson Nurudeen, on behalf of the chairman of INEC, of the PDP, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and he is returned elected.”

According to the total votes recorded by the electoral umpire, the PDP won 17 of the 30 Local Government Areas of the state, while the APC won the remaining 13.

The PDP won in Ede North, Ede South, Ifelodun, Boluwaduro, Egbedore, Odo Otin, Osogbo, Ila, Atakumosa West, Olorunda, Ilesa West, Obokun, Oriade, Orolu, Ife North, Irepodun, and Ejigbo LGAs.

Reacting to the announcement, Ademola in excitement immediately went down on the floor, prostrating to his brother.

This goes to show your lack of knowledge about how we roll in the SW. Majority of Osun people are Muslims and they voted for Adeleke who is a Christian. In fact, the Osun PDP ticket was a Christian-Christian ticket and nobody made an issue out of it. Religion was never a consideration in the election.

We don’t play the dirty and divisive politics of religion in the SW. Go to your SE and be playing your silly religious cards there.
@seunmsg, I like your response here.

That ignorant dweeb you quoted on page 1 is a bloody Ibo troll who just registered that moniker in July 2022 and is NOT of Yoruba descent like he claims. Fools like him don't realise as you've stated here that most Yorubas in Osun are Muslims but with non-Muslim relatives as well living in near-perfect harmony, just like Muslims constitute the majority of the Yoruba indigenes of Lagos State (Ijebus and Aworis), Ogun State, Oyo State, and Kwara State. Yorubas of Kogi, Ekiti and Ondo States of course have a significant indigenous Muslim population but less than the non-Muslims.

A 1950s population census figure I came across in a book back in the 1990s had the Nigerian religious spread in it, and the Muslims were number 1 in Yorubaland, followed by the adherants of the Yoruba religion (Ifa), then the different Christians groups combined came in last.

The Lagos State Guber UPN victory from 1979 to 1983 was a joint ticket between Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Chief Rafiu Jafojo both Muslims.

NOTE:
Parts of the Western to Central to Eastern Middle Belt region had MAJORITY traditional religions, followed by Islam, and Christianity was very low as of the 1950s census figures.

Foreign AffairsRe: Dollar Equals Euro , Sanctions Backfired by AlphaTaikun: 11:05am On Jul 16, 2022
Messijoseph56:
For the first time in almost two decades, one U.S. dollar is equal to one euro.

After nearly 20 years of the euro being superior to the dollar, both currencies reached parity on Tuesday, July 12.

As at Tuesday, 1 EUR equals 1 USD. The shift means European companies and consumers will pay more for the goods and services they import, while European exports become immediately cheaper in international markets. The euro has experienced a dramatic loss of value since early February when it was worth over $1.13.

Euro and U.S. dollar have equal value for first time in 20 years

It comes as the European Union has seen inflation exacerbated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

EU and U.S. sanctions have reduced the flow of Russian oil into Europe, and the currency block is much more dependent on Russian energy than the U.S.

The euro first hit price parity with the dollar in December 1999, just less than a year after its debut at $1.17. For a turbulent three years surrounding the 2001 dot-com crash, the dollar remained stronger than the euro. Worried investors treated the US currency as a safe-haven asset to hold during the burst of the tech bubble. But after 2003, the euro has remained stronger than the US dollar.

The parity of both currencies is a sign that investors are worried that a looming economic crisis will seriously affect Europe.
For the records... historically voters are unforgiving and will punish many politicians around the world during elections if global inflation keeps rising, and the Russian-Ukraine War is not brought to an end ASAP.

Sri Lanka is a perfect case study of what is coming to many countries between 2022 and 2023.

Though the Chinese have been industrializing rapidly since the late 1980s/early 1990s after seeing the economic miracle of the then Emerging Markets of Singapore, Taiwan, and some other South-East Asian countries, the Chinese are NOT fully trusted by India, Japan, Taiwan and many countries in the region because of China's bullish military antics and the threat of potential military invasions.

The Chinese are ready to give any country maximum military response because of their own fears and past military failures. Lol.

First of all, Kwakwoso dropped out of the Senatorial race because of Shekarau that has always defeated him. He knew that he might struggle to win and it will affect his resources when it came to the governship election.

Secondly, Kwakwoso popularity is mainly in Kano and while he seems to have some pocket of popularity elsewhere. He doesn't have the type of the respect Buhari commands among the Northerners. So the 2023 election will be a like street fight in the North.

Thirdly, Apc is likely to present Mallam Nuhu Ribadu in 2023, Nuhu has similar image to Buhari and he will be an easier sell among Christians in the North Central ahead of Nasir Elrufai. More importantly, Nuhu is a Fulani from the North East region where Apc enjoys a whopping 75℅ support.

This also goes to show that politicians are all lying scoundrels all over the world. They can say anything no matter how ridiculous and unnecessary to win election.

Due to the poor state of the barn it had been kept in, the outside blue body of the car was covered in a combination of rust and lichen.
