SpatialKing:LONDON HAS FALLEN? An American propaganda movie I guess. Riddle me this, will the Intelligence Operational Dashboard prevent one of the guards from 'accidentally' discharging a bullet in the direction of the President during the gun salute? Has all the guards for the salute being vetted? Have the contents of their bullets been checked to make sure they are not carrying live rounds? Will it sweep adjoining buildings to make sure a sniper is not lurking around? Idris Deby was allegedly killed by a sniper by the way. Securing the President is not a movie. It's real business. |
dederocs:I have, and I ask again. Would you believe the person he eventually chooses is the best one, even if he is a Northerner? Or will you only be convinced he has selected the best when the eventual COAS is chosen from another region? Read slowly before you reply. |
dederocs:Is it possible that the best hand can also be from the North? Or should we conclude that whenever it's from the East, it's merit but if from the North, it's quota system? |
Curious345:Don't bother. You will be ignored when you come back. I wish Nairaland has the block botton. |
lexy2014:This one is easily fooled by PR. What makes it unscheduled? His security team did not know he will be stopping by right? it was unscheduled because the people he was visiting weren't expecting him which makes it safer for him. Gives less time for people with ulterior motive to plan. It is not rocket science. |
Curious345:Jonathan was already Acting President by then. By your logic, Jonathan did not trust Dambazau as chief of army staff and so couldn't attend Yar'adua's burial but you expect Buhari without a chief of army staff to venture out without due diligence. An environment where all and sundry were coming to pay their respects. An environment where they will be a lot of gun salutes. Was there enough time to vet all the bullets in the guns? This is not an emotional matter. Idris Deby trusted too much and look where it got him. |
Someone7:Lies. It will be unwise of any president to go against security advice. Idris Deby constantly did and we saw how it ended. |
AfonjaMuslim:Yes he did. After the area had been cordoned off. Should the burial ground have been cordoned off as well? Let's not forget how Jonathan will lock down the whole of Lagos for a mere trip or how the whole airport road in Abuja will be shut down whenever Jonathan is on his way to the airport. Nigerians indeed, have short memories. |
jamace:Jonathan was already acting President before Yar'adua died. Why was Buhari absent at his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari's burial? Why was he absent at his bosom friend, Isa Funtua's burial? Hint: It wasn't because of Covid 19. Show me an islamic burial happening in less than 24 hours where Buhari has attended. Buhari attended Yar'adua's burial by the way. The difference is that he wasn't President as at then. You can pontificate all you want, but we all saw what happened to Idris Deby in Chad. Buhari's itinerary does not lie in his hands. It is protocol. |
Just to be clear. Jonathan was absent at Yar'adua's burial. General Abdulsalam was absent at Abacha's burial. All these burials all have one thing in common, they happened in less than 24 hours. Too short a time for the DSS to plan their itinerary. Being a President is not child's play. Buhari has been a target for assassination even as far back as 2014 in Kaduna when his convoy was attacked. The risk is higher now than then.

cybersoldiers:And feed their families with the arrears that will be paid once Biafra is achieved, as promised by Nnamdi Kanu. Wonderful! |
Militant30:Kaduna State has less than 100,000 people in its Civil Service. El'rufai was voted into power by over 1.2 million people in the last election. Do the math. Why should 98% of the State's allocation be used to cater for less than 10% of the population? |
Biafranboys:Read before commenting. They are simply telling you to your face that the news was false because you do not have the luxury of rejecting it. They already have your IMEI whether you like it or not! Go to court and remain there! |
The strike was becoming increasingly unpopular among the real residents of Kaduna, don't let social media takes fool you. How do you shut down electricity, water supply, hospitals, banks, fueling stations and businesses in a state and claim to be fighting for citizens. The hardship was becoming unbearable and Kaduna dwellers were getting ready to confront the NLC. |
otokx:No. NLC simply jumped at this window of opportunity to save face. The strike was becoming increasingly unpopular among the real residents of Kaduna, don't let social media takes fool you. How do you shut down electricity, water supply, hospitals, banks, fueling stations and businesses in a state and claim to be fighting for citizens. The hardship was becoming unbearable and Kaduna dwellers were getting ready to confront the NLC. |
yanabasee1:Either ways, he will be fine. He was a successful Quantity Surveyor in Nigeria through his firm, El'Rufai and Partners before taking a paycut to become an "accidental public servant". The likes of El'Rufai are not appreciated until several years after their tenure when the fruits of their ambitious reforms are being reaped. Abuja is a case study. No successive FCT minister has been able to exceed or match what he did as minister but Abuja is still sane due to a solid foundation. People regarded him as the devil then but you need someone with balls of steel to do what he did. Nigerians like to talk about what must be done to make things better but vilify anyone with the wherewithal to do so. 2023 will take care of itself but heads or tail, El'Rufai will be fine. His focus for now is to replicate what he did as FCT minister in Kaduna and he is very much on track. Posterity will be kind to him. |
Massive indeed
|
SEasternVictory:So why deny that you weren't cheering him on until now? Do not quit at this point, follow through with your convictions all the way. Nnamdi Kanu says he will achieve Biafra by any means necessary, including suicide bombing and terrorism. He has never hidden his intention on that. Some of us were just smart enough to know from the get-go that he was a terrorist and a foreign trained mole. |
SEasternVictory:Yes, I can. The below posts were you a few days ago. What changed? The internet always keep receipts.
|
All this talks about North and South including the much touted Southern Unity will transform to Yoruba vs Igbo by next year when the real dynamics of 2023 begin to play out. Atiku is fast realizing he is the biggest loser of the sponsored divisive tendencies they sowed for political reasons. The North will not be voting for a Northerner in 2023 but will definitely align towards a Southern ticket that best protect their interests. This is why the North is the most politically smarter region in Nigeria. By next year, we will see if the Southern unity continues or a particular bloc will swallow their vomit and shamelessly queue behind another Hausa/Fulani ticket. The biggest failure of the opposition is continuing to focus on Buhari with the elections few months away forgetting that Buhari will not be on the ballot in 2023. |
engrchykae:A potential suicide bomber. |
SEasternVictory:It may have put you off because you still have an atom of grey matter in you but bear in mind that this same speech has just radicalized hardcore IPOB youths who dote on his every word. Watch out for potential suicide bombers in the South East. Boko haram brainwashes its fighters through radical preachings to strap bombs on themselves, Nnamdi Kanu is doing the same through Radio Biafra. Watch out for another Charles Taylor in the making. A CIA trained mass media propagandist and potential war criminal. You cheered this on until now, do not back away. Accept responsibility. |
SEasternVictory:If you live in Aba, Nigeria will definitely look like a cesspit to you. Hold your governors accountable. Other States are nothing like Abia. |
Coronabirus:Please forgive them. It's the era of Twitter Revolution and tomfoolery. |
Smityk:But Nnamdi Kanu would have us believe Buhari is Jibrin because his hands are too fresh for a 78 year old. I guess its safe to say that Obi of Ontsha has been cloned because he definitely looks younger than his age. |
All the sensational news we were fed with is gradually becoming false. I thought the news was that the father was an accomplice? The offense is grievous no doubt, but objectivity must not be thrown out the window. Her death should not become a means to settle political scores as is now being the case. That will be a disservice to her memory. |
It may seem trivial but I noticed all the pro-government comments on the first page have been conspicuously hidden by the mods. A lot of complaints have been made by members but now I can independently confirm it. Nairaland is compromised and is fast losing the sense of objectivity that once made it tick. Seun, wake up and save your website before it is too late! P.S: I expect this comment of mine to get hidden as well. It is that bad. |
Lazycapitalist2:Yes, we do have proof. https://www.thecable.ng/fake-news-alert-viral-video-not-of-boko-haram-converting-residents-in-niger/amp Satisfied? |
Fake news! This happened in Ivory Coast and it was voluntary. Seun, Nairaland has gone to the dogs! The proliferation of fake news is too much and it appears a specific group has seized the platform to push their propaganda. |
You caught 5 yoruba men involved in kidnapping and the headline just had to involve herdsmen, even though no herdsman was arrested alongside. Such double standards. Evans was not a herdsman, incase we forgot. Stop the profiling. |
