Vivian16:Joker! Protest away. Over 1 trillion naira worth of property was destroyed in Lagos during EndSars, how did that affect the President? The Southeast is setting fire to their father's houses to teach Buhari a lesson, what has Buhari learnt so far? |
Opinion piece by Fisayo Soyombo of the infamous "Omi Ewa"? I'll pass. This self-styled "investigative journalist" lost me when he put up a shambolic report purportedly of the dead from lekki tollgate massacre. The report was fraught with so much fraud and was neither here nor there but the grant must be justified. We get it. |
Jostoman:Don't be daft. That is the official website of the MacArthur foundation. You can check it out yourself. He has a permanent suite at Raddison Blue hotel in Abuja where he relaxes and enjoys the fruit of his labour. He is not called a Grant Master for nothing. Monkey dey work, baboon dey chop. |
Wiseandtrue:The only proven paid urchins here are groups like femco and others who raised over 500 million naira in different currencies during the last protests and still can’t give accountability on it till this day. Sowere has received close to 2 million dollars from the McArthur foundation to destabilize Nigeria with fake news and social unrest. How much of that money came into your pocket? He kept using the gullible youths as cannon fodder to prove to his sponsors that he is working, hence the recent gunshot stunts and others.
|
ThierryJay:Thank you. He understood what I said but he ain't got the answers. Jack, who has clearly shown his bias as far as Nigerian politics is concerned, has lost the moral compass to be the referee or the social media police. Hence, the suspension by the government. |
htdot:But "Nigerians" protested against him speaking at the NBA conference and we all cheered. Where were the free speech advocates then? It will only be an infringement if the government stops you from "vocally" speaking. That is the only thing the constitution guarantees you. Trump was banned from Facebook, Twitter, youtube, Instagram, reddit, virtually all platforms. He was welcomed on parler and the company hosting parler on the web pulled their license. Despite all these, no cries of free speech violation. We can't all keep quiet and watch foreign social media companies determine what constitutes free speech and what doesn't. |
jaxxy:You sound very woke and the funny thing with you woke people is self righteousness which sincerely is nothing but hypocrisy. Why do the cancel culturists still go back in time to comments people made 20 years ago to blacklist them and deplatform them. Where is their right to free speech? Kevin Hart was bullied and prevented from hosting the Oscars because of comments he joked about in the past which no longer sits right with the woke establishment. Where was his freedom of expression? During EndSars, a lot of people in a mob-like manner, reported accounts that dared to say anything contrary to the protests and Twitter blocked and deleted their comments. Where was freedom of speech? If we are to believe that Buhari's tweets were deleted because it was reported enmass, does it mean any and all tweets should also be deleted if such tweets also get mass reported? Bear in mind that there is skewness in representation on social media and it doesn’t necessarily represent the mood of the whole country. This is why Atiku won all the polls on social media and still lost the election. So I ask again, who determines what constitutes free speech or an abuse of free speech? If my comments sit right with a lot of people, does it make my comments fair? You talked about how free speech entails respecting people’s religions, but some religions frowns upon and even criminalizes some acts like sodomy and abortion, if I speak against them and you get me banned for abuse of free speech on Twitter, are you not impeding on my religious beliefs? Make it make sense. |
jaxxy:I have nothing against LGBT. I am just pointing out that free speech is a myth. It doesn't exist. By the way, there are already advocates for pedophilia and bestiality seeking to recognize these acts as rights too. Big tech may succumb tomorrow and then proceed to impose the recognition of these acts as human rights while banning and barring all with opposing views from their platform. That is mind control if you ask me. It also throws the room open for bias. Just as Jack concluded that EndSars protesters are activists and capitol hill protesters are terrorists. |
jaxxy:Twitter is not a means of "free speech". If you doubt me, make any anti-LGBT comments on Twitter and see if your comments would not be deleted and your accounts probably banned. Matter of fact, people have lost their jobs because of such comments. Freedom of speech is not absolute, it is dependent on the leanings of the regulators of whatever platform such comments are made. |
Ladyhippolyta88:Big tech regulates itself meaning they are the alpha and omega now? Classic New World Order style. EndSars protesters never attacked the national assembly but they camped at Alausa and blocked Lekki tollgate for weeks, denying other Nigerians of free movement while claiming to be fighting for their kid's future. In Abuja, they even camped outside the CBN headquarters before they were dispersed, probably would have set it on fire if allowed. All the while, being supported by Jack with specialized emojis, blue ticks, bitcoins and manipulated trends. Which is worse? When did Twitter, a mere platform become an NGO or civil society organization to have an opinion on a sovereign country's politics? Even if 13 million voted against Buhari, bottom line is that it isn't more significant than the 15 million that voted for him. The election was litigated right up to the level of the supreme court and Buhari was adjudged to have won the election. What better form of legitimacy does he need beyond that? Tweeting is not in the Nigerian constitution and the government has not obstructed your rights by suspending Twitter. Twitter is simply a business outfit interfering in the country's politics. Why is Ko*o, the new social media platform not approved in America as at now? Why was Huawei banned in America and all American companies barred from transacting with them? We are not house n*ggers! |
Kriss216:Let's keep it a hundred, Buhari looks more regal and healthier in all these pictures and has remained largely unchanged despite the fact that the pictures were taken 15 years ago. No wonder some pained people cannot believe he is still the same Buhari, they call him Jibrin. |
AGNESikpuNNU:So it is not the fault of the fake news purveyors who are hell bent on plunging the country into war through outright lies, but it is the fault of Buhari who you feel has outlived his usefulness just because he is a fulani man? Keep digging the hole. |
SweetiliciousD:Technically he wasn't booted out of office. He got 76 million real life voters while the current President got 81 million votes, majority of which are mailed in ballots. His only failing was refusing to graciously bow out. |
FarahAideed:Stop living in denial. The news is straight from Donald Trump's official website. I know you're disappointed. https://www.donaldjtrump.com/news/statement-by-donald-j-trump-45th-president-of-the-united-states-of-america-06.08..21-02 |
Ladyhippolyta88:So who will regulate the regulators or could big tech be the much talked about New World Order? You talked about strong institutions but Jack and Zuckerberg singlehandedly banned Trump from their platforms without giving a second thought to his freedom of speech. 81 million Americans removed Trump but you fail to consider the fact that 76 million Americans voted to keep him in power. Ironically, you forget that 15 million Nigerians voted to keep Buhari in power as against the 11 million that voted against him. You support insurrectionists that want to protest Buhari out of power but Capitol Hill protesters are terrorists? America is always right but whatever Nigeria does under Buhari is wrong? We are not house n*ggers! |
Cammo:You didn't drag the administration in the mud. You dragged your region into misery because the truth is that EndSars never really ended in the East. The indiscriminate killing of Policemen that has continued unabated in that region is one of the legacies of EndSars. |
Lordbinsmar:Going by your logic, should we conclude that Twitter has been depriving Trump of his freedom of speech and expression? Twitter cannot be allowed to run parallel governance in Nigeria by interfering in our affairs (creating special EndSars emojis and donating bitcoins to insurrectionists) and displaying bias or selective censoring a la Nnamdi Kanu. Especially when we all know the same energy will not be maintained when their homeland is threatened, as we saw during the Capitol Hill saga. Till today, the FBI is still searching for participants of capitol hill protest with financial rewards attached. Nigeria is not a banana republic. |
WoundedLamb:Entire nation indeed. There are less than 3 million users of Twitter in Nigeria. No wonder you people erroneously think trends that are usually promoted by paid influencers reflect the mood of all Nigerians. |
This thread will never find its way to the frontpage. That is all the confirmation you need that the moderators are biased. |
orikoku:Has the 13 years of insurgency in 6 states of the Northeast consumed the FG? Sambisa forest alone is bigger than the entire Southeast, so do the maths. It consumed the people of the Northeast though and turned affluent people to refugees. So expect the same. Even Biafran war was fought in the East, the rest of Nigeria was largely fine. As a matter of fact, Gowon built the Kainji Dam and other monumental projects during the war. It didn't consume the government.
|
InaNla:Okay, after blaming him, what next? Are you trying to convince electorates not to vote him again in 2023? News Flash: He will not be on the ballot and APC is still poised to win the next presidential election. ESN and UGM ain't going anywhere though, they are here to stay and it will be downhill from here onwards. Boko haram has not affected you in the South, what makes you think UGM is affecting the others across the Niger? Who is the biggest looser? |
InaNla:Point of correction, South East is gradually sliding into complete state of anarchy. If you think you are doing this to get Buhari's attention, then you will be disappointed. You burn down your father's house, kill your brothers in uniform and turn back around to blame Buhari. Maiduguri and other Northeastern States have been facing insurgency for over 13 years now and over 20,000 people have died, but I am sure you do not know anyone that knows anyone that have died from the insurgency. My point is ; you can turn your fathers and mothers into internally displaced persons if you like, the rest of the country will only sympathize with you from afar. |
jabberjawz:Okay Sir. At your convenience. |
jabberjawz:Email sent. You may take down your email address if you wish Sir. I am grateful. |
Jabberjawz, I decided to pick a dead thread away from the UN jobs thread to humbly make this request. I am inspired by your success story and desire to replicate it. Can I get a link to the CV template you used in applying for those roles? or will you be kind enough to create a dud email address where I can send you my CV for review? I have a few development experience under my belt and a Master’s in a development-related field. Too many conflicting stories on what works and what doesn't work in terms of CV. I need a successful person to give me definitive advise. Thanks. |
It is glaring that IPOB's strategy is to sacrifice the Igbos staying in the North to achieve Biafra. Very dumb move especially when it is a fact that there are more Igbos staying in the North than northerners in the East. An average Northerner prefers life in the North because life is simpler. I can't say the same for the average easterner though. Those who find themselves in the North never return back to the East on their own volition because Northerners are even more hospitable than their brothers. On another note, by next year we will see how serious the new found romance between the East and the West is when the real dynamics of 2023 begin to play out. The North are not interested in keeping power beyond 2023 but heads or tail, they can never lose out. Until then, the North will continue to play the long game while the Easterners turn their region into Maiduguri and their people into IDPs. In the meantime, commenters like the one above me should continue to fool themselves with parody accounts. The vulture is a patient bird. |
GreyLaw:Show me any Nigerian President dead or alive that has attended an Islamic burial taking place within 24 hours of death of the individual and we can continue this conversation. Don't run away, don't pontificate and don't gaslight, jusy drop a link or evidence of this. I'll wait. You may not believe it but from the moment an individual wins the ticket of a major political party, you become a property of the State and your security does not lie in your hands. Unless you choose to be Idris Deby. |
Thegracefulness:Soldiers are personal properties of the State, sworn to die in service to the country. A loss of a soldier is a loss to the nation. Thank a soldier whenever you come across one. For your tomorrow, they give their today. |
ImpactCrater:Story. When Nnamdi Kanu instructed them to attack Police stations with nothing but cutlasses and hammers with a piece of rope tied around their waist in the form of Juju, what would you call that? Continue to live in denial. |
Romanoff:Lol. You lots underestimate the power of brainwashing. Remember the thread below? You can't claim you weren't warned. https://www.nairaland.com/6556346/nnamdi-kanu-suggests-jim-jones |
PVision2020:You forgot the part where the Army shot him in the chest with an AK47 and he began to run until he asked himself where was he running to? Bullets from an AK47 shot from less than 100 meters is capable of killing 3 people if they were all standing behind each other. Clowns everywhere. |
