Job Title: Optometrist Location: Lagos Job Overview The Optometrist is responsible for performing vision tests and analysing results. He/she is responsible for diagnosing sight problems and prescribing eyeglasses and other visual aids. Responsibilities • Collect and enter patients data into the database(Acuitas) daily • Provides outpatient care for patients with eye-related conditions. • Conducts routine eye examinations, including glaucoma screening. • Identifies safety factors that could impact vision and educates patients • Refraction and prescribing the best corrective lenses to suit patients visual needs • Assists patients in the selection of frames. • Contact lens fitting and care, including explaining to patients how to clean and wear contact lenses. • Promotes eye health by educating and counselling patients on eye related issues. • Dispenses eye drops for the patients with minor ocular pathologies. • Measures parameters for lens fitting e.g., wrap angle, BVD, fitting height, pupillary distance and pantoscopic tilt. • Record all client job instructions in the tracking book • Orders lenses from optical vendors. • Reads off lens prescriptions using the focimeter, to ensure they have the accurate prescription and are properly fitted before dispensing. • Issues prescriptions for spectacles and contact lenses • Meets sales target with regards to selling of frames and lenses. • Participates in routine eye screenings for children. • Organizes clinical trainings for colleagues in the office. • Writes referrals for patients who require further care. • Liaises with sales representatives who sell vision care products. • Assists the Ophthalmologist during her consultation sessions. • Follows up on patients to remind them of their appointments and also ensures they are comfortable with their spectacle prescription. • Send end of day report to management team (Optometrist on duty) • Prepare and send HMO invoices by the end of the first week of the new month • Carry out quality assurance on all lenses received from supplier (Ensure that the lens does not have any distortions or visible scratches and that lens meets all customers specifications) • Carry out quality control on all finished jobs ( prescription) Knowledge and Skills • Must be tech savvy • High level of professionalism. • Excellent organizational, problem solving, and time management skills. • Must understand mathematical and scientific information • Effective communication skills • Detail oriented • Must be able to adapt quickly to new technologies and equipment • Ability to maintain high levels of concentration • High level of emotional intelligence • Should be able to work with children • Good organizational and administrative skills • Able to explain instructions in simple terms Qualification/Experience • Doctor of Optometry Qualified candidates should send CVs to hr@visionsopticals.com using the job title as the subject of the mail. |

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation, may Allah extol the mention of our noble Prophet Muhammad in the highest company of Angels, bless him and give him peace and security―and his family, his Companions and all those who follow him correctly until the establishment of the Hour. The Duhā prayer is a Sunnah encouraged by Allah’s Messenger (sallallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) for his Companions and the believers — and he would sometimes perform it. He prayed 8 rak’ahs Duhā prayer on the day of the conquest of Makkah. So it is an emphasised Sunnah. Its time is from the rising of the sun when it reaches the height of a spear in the sky (usually 20 minutes after sunrise) until before it reaches its full height (noon) before Dhuhr. If it is prayed at its earliest time or thereafter, the Sunnah of Duhā is fulfilled. However, its best time is later when the earth is at its warmest due to the saying of the Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) about the Duhā Prayer: “The prayer of the repentant ones is offered when the young weaned camels feel the heat of the Sun.” (Muslim, no. 748) A person should recite in it whatever is easy for him from the Surahs of Quran, and ayāt of the Quran. The least number of rak’ahs to be prayed are two with one tasleem at the end. A person can also pray four, six or eight or more — and he makes tasleem after every two rak’ahs. The Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) prayed eight rak’ahs on the day of the conquest of Makkah — and he made tasleem after every two. ‘A’ishah (radiyallāhu ‘anhā) said: The Messenger of Allah (sallallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) would pray four rak’ahs of Duhā prayer (at the forenoon) and would add to them whatever Allah willed. (Muslim) Abu Hurayrah (radiyallāhu ‘anhu) said: “My friend (the Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam)) advised me with three things: (1) to fast three days a month, (2) to pray two rak’ahs of Duhā prayer, and, (3) to pray witr before sleeping.” (Bukhārī, no. 1981) End.
