Gunmen have abducted 10 persons and killed one other in Amaigbo, Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State to unknown destination. But police gave the number of victims as only four.

Daily Sun gathered that the incident occurred at the Eke Ukwu Market Square where the town union executives of Amaigbo Progressive Union (APU) assembled to discuss the burial arrangement of their traditional ruler, Eze Nwosu, who passed on recently.

The meeting, according to a report, comprised both members resident at home and other parts of the country.
According to the report, the said gunmen alighted from their Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and fired some gun shots into the air before abducting their victims.

While trying to escape, a middle aged man whose vehicle mistakenly blocked their exit was reportedly shot dead. Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Linus Nwaiwu, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) told Daily Sun that only four persons were abducted during the town hall meeting and that the police is closing in on the hoodlums.
