What is your point? Just to know why a Yoruba cultural association could be transformed to a political party that will represent all the groups that are not even Yorubas in the Western region. |

^^^ The western region consist of other non Yoruba ethnic groups such as The Itsekiris, Urhobos, Edos, Ndigbo, Ijaws etc. Yet Awo and co transformed a Yoruba cultural association as a political party for the West. Does it mean that Awo saw the Western region as entirely a Yoruba region?. |

houvest: Quick question. What was the need for a Yoruba party since as you said NCNC was a party joining East and West? It was first led by, Macaulay, a Yoruba? and later Zik, an Igbo. What was the need for a Yoruba party sionce Igbos, Ijaws, Efiks, Edos had none. They had sociocultural organizations and all operated under one political umbrela, NCNC. It was only the North that had her own party.while NCNC tried to be Nigerian. I am not asking this question to denigrate anybody but really trying to know why egbe omo oduduwa decided to transform into a political party. Dont you think if NCNC had remained as the paramount southern party, it not only would have won the power at the centre and even more than that would have ensured southern, if not national unity? Good question. |

houvest: lol . . . moment of weakness ?? . . . It's just that I find it disturbing how these nonentities continue to paint Ibos in such vile, despicable, colors on here! Supporting a spurious claim does not make you smarter than others bros. Granted there are some overzealous Igbo posters here as there are also those, if not more from other ethnics. In the same way there are also responsible folks on the forum. Nobody really knows whom the other is as it is an anonymous forum. However the poster in question has a tendency to bracket every poster that has pro Ohaneze views as a nonentity or brainless. It is very wrong to disrespect folks with contrary views. Even if your opponents insult you, going into the gutter with them, shows you also as unprincipled. If you feel someone is overzealous, try calling him to order humbly. If he does not accept, leave him alone nd continue discussing with others. Nobody speaks for any other person here. Speak for yourself bro. Anbody who comes here and says he is speaking for all Igbos, when he is not Ohaneze, and you take him serious, you have yourself to examine not the selfglorifying person. Even though Ohaneze attempts to speak for Ndigbo, yet it does not force anyone to follow her . She only tries to lead, which Ndigbo needs. We will follow them unless we see that they have lost the right to that followership. Yet there still will be dissidents in a republican society as Igboland. Houvest, once again, thanks. |

presido1: ^^What if you have an Igbo teacher from Ogidi teaching Igbo in a school in Owerri, Afikpo, Ohafia or Ngwa. Which dialect will he teach them. If he teach them Ogidi dialect it defeats your argument of preserving dialects.
If you are not from Afikpo u can hardly understand their dialect, Now you are a WASC examiner for Igbo Lang, You are presented with Igbo exam papers from Afikpo written in Afikpo dialect what will you do if you can't read the dialect? Are you going to pass all of them or fail all of them.
Advocates of central Igbo did not tell you to abolish your dialect rather it provides a way to communicate to those ndigbo that don't understand your dialect and you don't understand their's. Its that simple. May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Nothing more to comment. |

@Uchenna: Did he get his calculations right or wrong?. For example, he calculated that Biafra will not win, loss of lives and properties. He was older than all the Easterners involved in decision making at that time. So he was not coward enough not to tell the truth. Having said that, he did not join the enemies to fight against Biafra. So in my own words, he wasn't a traitor. |
The man was a traitor to Biafra. He wasn't with us during our time of need. That is why a good amount of Igbos do not like him. I am sorry, but his actions near the end of the civil war is truly reprehensible.
However, I feel the man was a complex individual, in which I need to study him more. This speech goes against everything I learned about this man.
What do you expect of him?. A man who gave his life for the liberation of Nigeria. Those days there were men of principle. One thing with Ndigbo is the ability to forgive our own people. Hence in 1978, the mainly Igbo party chose him as their presidential candidate for the 1979 presidential polls. He won in Anioma areas of Bendel state, Igbo areas of Rivers state and the Igbo states of Imo and Anambra. |

BecomeRich does not believe in Nigeria, so he will not accept to be the president of Nigeria. His politics centres on a merger of Yorubaland, Edo and Benin Republic into a statehood. Second, BecomeRich is a hater of Ndigbo, despite being a born-again Christian. My ideal candidate from the south-west here to lead Nigeria is Negro nts. |
Katsumoto,
In the tense and stressful moments of war, a bazzoka going off coincidentally with an overflight might be mistaken for a bomb.
Ikoyi, in that era was nested adjacent to two military camps and a naval port. The British intentionally sorrounded their settlements with garrisons of military stations for optimum protection against infiltration and surprised attack from the indigenes. After they left, Nigerian technocrats and administrators occupied Ikoyi and beyond, leaving the peripheral protected with military presence. Dodan Barracks was one of the presence and the seat of the Nigerian military hierarchy. The other one was Abatti Barracks.
If a bomb was dropped in Ikoyi and in a residential street , then it is evidence of unskilled warmanship on the part of the Igbo pilot. For casualty and demolition, any of the military barracks would have been a score, not to mention high grade infrastructures such as bridges, government headquarters and such that littered from Ikoyi all the way to the foot of Carter bridge. Eko bridge was not built till after the war.
Also, if a bomb was dropped in Ikoyi the site of the damage should still be on record of the Lagos Town Council, what the Lagos Administrative Council was called at the time.
I checked with my mom. . . just to be sure. She attended Aunty Ayo Girls Secondary School at Keffi. Keffi is the gateway to Ikoyi. She said school continued throughout the war and they were never closed. A bomb drop in the vicinity would have changed that.
So this propaganda, if it was aimed to be one, was badly thought out and presented. Reconstruct it.
Thanks a lot for this post. At least, there is one person who does not follow him sheepishly. |

While you are at it, please supply the picture of Jesus being born in a manger; since we only believe photographic evidence.
I have supplied far more information with regards to the bombings than any biafran as ever supplied with regards to the war. Quit being obfuscating, Biafra bombed Lagos and people died.
I am done with your request until you supply at least nine pictures of bombed buildings in biafra. As I wait for your photographs of Biafran military bombings of Lagos, you may view a photo of Nigerian bombings of civilians. Failure to do that will mean that you should quit spreading lies here.
