The Igbo societies are not static. As the wind of change is blowing across the globe, Igboland is affected as well. Wife beating is no longer the norm now. In the past, in keeping with the Igbo view of female nature, the group allowed wife beating. According to Igbo belief. women by nature required to be tamed and streamlined by regular beating so that atmosphere at at home and outside should remain orderly. In Things fall Apart-Achebe described how Okonkwo beat his second wife for not coming home to make his meal. Though Okonkwo was punished but only because he beat her during the week of peace. |
gadogado:You have confirmed what I earlier stated on. From your pics, there are two colours here. The red one is Igbo while the oxblood is not Igbo. Igbo titled men wear the red hat which signifies struggle to keep family and Igbo traditions together.
|
oweniwe:Simply say you lack ideas for this sort of thread. Whilst you lasted here you contributed nothing positive and always blaming your Opera internet system for your inefficiency. Run to the joke section where you are more suited. |

Hillsate It is an outright stupidity to suggest that Chizoba could mean ones own carelessness and hence the name. Yoruba and Igbo names have meanings attached to it. Likewise other African names. If African names are meaningless, then European/American names are worse off. |
@Chinenye: I think you have settled this matter. My problem with him here is that this same rubbish he vomited today has been done before, and tomorrow, he will type the same thing. Something must be wrong with him. |
You actually have a logic here. If Vatsa valued his friendship with IBB, why did he plan to overthrow his government?
Did Diya plan to overthrow Abacha?. Did Obasanjo and Yar'dua plan to overthrow Abacha?. |
excanny:They can wear this and many others but not the red hat.
|
gadogado:The above post is brain crippling. Sometimes I wonder why people write rubbish about Igbo culture which they do not know anything about it. anyway, the red hat titled men wear in Igboland signifies struggle (blood). It is not borrowed from HAUSAS or any other culture. What Hausas wear is not even red hats but oxblood hats. |
The Churches in Igboland are responding positively to the spread of HIV/AID. In my local Bishopric-Okigwe south Anglican Communion diocese, HIV/AIDS ministry has been established. This ministry is headed by Rev. Ernest OSUCHUKWU, a well trained community worker. They carry out continous awareness and regular sensitization campaigns for prevention of HIV/AIDS. They hold periodic seminars and workshops to raise volunteers. They have established sexual abstinence clubs in our churches and schools. How are your Churches in Igboland responding to the deadly effects of HIV/AIDS?. |
agbotaen:A looser will always be a looser. If you are intelligent as you claim, why not make references to my post?. Are you blind enough to the pictures I have been posting here highlighting how Igbo people are united in London. I earlier wrote that I was in a meeting with your Obi-The Obi of Owa this summer in South west London and he revealed his passion for his Igbo kins. I also congratulated members of Ika Town Union who celebrated Iri Ji with us in London last 16/10/2010. Once again, I challenge you to face me on this issue than posting the same crap all the time. Does that not bore you?. |
mens dept:Has anyone said it means anything. Why not go to threds you feel has more serious topics than here?. |

@Oweniwe: Kedu?. Long time. |
What happened to that East-West rail line that was been built some years ago. |
EzeUche0:Yet Ileke does not advocate for the Yorubas to come together and negotiate their identity. Yet, Ileke Idi does not support some Yoruba groups to maintain a non Yoruba idea. Yet Ileke Idi does not call fellow Yorubas Pan Yorubaist. |
The pic here is from Iri JI in London 2010. This event brings the Igbo together. Members of Ika Union London were there with their fellow Igbo people to celebrate this festival.

In some constitutions (not Nigeria), the prime minister is a subordinate to the president. The prime minister is more or less a deputy president. Probably, at Independence, the constitution was not properly interpreted. |

Kanuris are not Arabs. What they share in common with Arabs is chiefly religion. They are a Chadian group. |
Check out Sokoto state with less than 5,000 candidates, yet they claim they are born to rule. |
