@1025: For you not to know the meaning of Uwaechue shows you have problems with Igbo. Even my nephews who were born and bred here in the U.K knows the meaning and knows more about the man than you. What a shame. Why not BING OR GOOGLE Uwaechue. Am not sure you can attain any thing close to his illustrious career.
Uwaechue holding the number one post in Igboland means he is the number one Igbo citizen at the moment, go and figure. It is an outright stupidity to insult Uwaechue in this public forum, just because of his actions. Boy, you really need to stop that nonsense. Whatever the case, you are an adult, Uwaechue and Ohanaeze will not force any one to vote for GEJ. You can only take a horse to the river but can not force a horse to drink.
Yet, I still maintain that they know better than you.

No need to talk with sentiment. Also, you have no excuse, Igbo organizations hold conventions all over the diaspora and voices are heard. The thing is you have to be on your A-game if you really are serious. If you think you are unimportant as far as influencing the minds of people that can make a decision that can effect Igbo as a nation then I doubt you would be on nairaland as we speak. You also say that they refuse to listen to reason, who's or what reason might that be? Remember you never gave an effect to contact them. Consulting various diasporan Igbo in the U.S., U.K.,etc. along and Igbo organizations who unanimously gave support for the decision they made is not listening to reason? Lets say you wen to a gathering and were in a hall with various diasporans and were given the chance to speak on a podium and you voice out this opinion of yours with pointers, do you not think you could have caused a rethink amongst those Igbos which would have effected decisions in other locations? If you think that you couldn't then you are wrong. It would be best to give help where you see help is needed.

Actually, blaming myself would only make sense if there was anything that I could realistically do about the chaotic symphony, but I am only one completely unimportant, diaspora-raised, Ngwa youth (you all have even acknowledged this yourselves). So it's no secret to us all that my voice realistically counts for nothing. So I can't blame myself, but I can blame YOUR leader[s] for refusing to listen to reason.
The number one citizen in Igboland at moment-Amb Uwaechue listens to voice of reason. Ndigbo from all works of life asked him to make a choice on their behalf. He and his Oha na Ndi eze led by Ilomuanya/Edozien came to a conclusion that GEJ is the man. They know better than you and I.
Can you remember when Igbo students were asking them to make their opinions known?. I know you do not easily forget things. Not only students, their were other Igbo bodies which you might not have read through on the pages of newspapers.

Mr man, quit talking like an illiterate. Ohaneze was formed to take care of our collective interests and they made wide consultations b4 coming out with the endorsement. Nobody will force you to vote for GEJ, but be sure that over 70% of true Igbos are solidly behind ohaneze. Besides, step into the streets of Eastern states and seek 4 people's opinion, then come back here and tell us your findings.
May your days be Long.

Ok lets analyze this properly.
Ohaneze is funded majorely by d 5 eastern states government. Dont think its not a contested position, everytime d election comes up,its a fierce battle between contestants frm d 5 igbo states plus delta n other minorities. The last elections witnessed heavy disputes as my uncle contested for national legal adviser. He won but was asked 2 step down for our governor's candidate for the position which was "ZONED" to enugu state.
Ohaneze exco's are sponsored by their state governors to occupy the well zoned and arranged positions and they are well paid on it.
Therefore, ralph uweuche did not do any consultations as dat assembly consists of very few big igbo figures, but few politicians, few retired lawyers academicians and other retired proffesionals also ndi igwes also attend. People like Jim nwobodos, iwuanyanwu, ekwueme, uwazurike, chukwumerije, nnamani, ohi of onitcha n co dont attend.
In conclusion, uweuche was coerced to declare support for jonathan by his financiers(governors) who had earlier
done theirs, then he was compensated with an extended tenure.
Get it right boy. Ohanaeze nationwide made wide consultations with Ndigbo onshore and offshore. I am heavily involved in Igbo affairs in the U.K, and I knew when the consultation was going on. Am also in touch with Ohanaeze South Africa, Ohanaeze Ireland etc. Believe me, there were consultations. Prior to this moment, Igbo students unions in Nigeria e.g Igbo student Union Unibadan, and other Igbo student bodies have voiced their support for GEJ and have made their opinions known to Ohanaeze.
The Ohanaeze President-Gen Amb Uwaechue, whom I met at at Ogwashi Ukwu last April is not a man that can be intimidated. Moreover, the man has made a mark in Nigeria.

In addition to my earlier post, during my NYSC in Ogun state, out of 700 corp members, Imo state alone recorded more than 100 corp members.
But I feel with the population of Imolites nationwide, that figure should have been double.
PoliticsRe: Is Igbo Claim To More Quantitative Education Like Obama's Claim To Achievements? by AndreUweh(m): 10:02pm On Oct 31, 2010
The Igbo population is so enormous that when people see traders at Oshodi, they conclude that Ndigbo are drop outs.
During my undergraduate days at Unibadan, one of my course mates (a Yoruba) in a loud voice proclaimed that Igbo people are all over the place in Lagos selling second-hand shoes.
To shame him, I informed him that in this our dear dept, there are 42 of us in the class. Ndigbo 15, Yorubas 15 and others 12.
So, with a university in the heart of Yorubaland and Ndigbo are at per with Yorubas, what next is there to convince you that Ndigbo are actually the ones dominating Nigerian education. He had to bow in shame.
PoliticsRe: Is Igbo Claim To More Quantitative Education Like Obama's Claim To Achievements? by AndreUweh(m): 9:02pm On Oct 31, 2010
Ndigbo with a a population of 37 million in Nigeria.
Edo with a population of 4 million in Nigeria.
If Edo state records 20, thousand admissions in a year and Ndigbo records 40, thousand in a year. So would you at this instance say Ndigbo are not dropping out of schools?.

If you go into Ariaria market and ask who the current President of Ohaneze is, most can't tell you.

The kind of crap Andrew Uweh spews here is out of this world. Not everybody prefers Ohaneze to think for them ok?

Go and get a regular job ok? or you come back home and do Ohaneze lets see, you think it is to stay in London and collect money from unsuspecting Igbos who are feeling home sick? Go find a regular job!!!!!!!!!!
Small fry,It seems you left your brains at home before coming to spill the above crap. What sort of money do I need to collect from any one when what I earn here is enough to pay for my workers in 3 cities in Nigeria.
Surely, the type of people you associate with are the illiterate and uninformed petty traders like you who do not know anything about their leaders. They are not my type. I do visit Aba and have shops in Pound Road. Each time I visit Aba, the guys out there gives me a lowdown of current trends in the area. Sorry for your associates.

Why all the fuss about Ohaneze? What have they done all these years on the national and regional improvement for those they claim to speak for? Even Hezbollah have done more self improvement and developmental projects for their people.

Press statements from Ohaneze Chairman, then Ohaneze Chairman Lagos Chapter, then one so-called Ohaneze Chieftain, then Ohaneze Deputy Publicity Secretary says, over and over and over again, and really, they arent saying much other than stories filling up the back pages of Naija newspapers.

Already they are talking about 2015 when we still havent put together a comprehensive election scheme for 2011. I mean, whats going on with Ndigbo people?
Another imbecilic post as usual. Was Ohanaeze founded on the same basis as your so called Hezbollah. Does Ohanaeze carry arms, and bombs. Do they field candidates for elective posts?. Why do you guys rubbish Ohanaeze when you know not what their functions are?. You have time to study about Hizbollah yet know nothing about Ohanaeze. What a shame. Some of you have not even heard about Ohanaeze or Uwaechue untill this moment. But you know the operatives of the Hizbollah and all their terrorism acts. What a pity.

@Chyz: Everything you wrote is well digested by me. It is not proper for any Tom and Harry to come to a public forum and start attacking Ndigbo. Let's say enough is enough to those insults.
Remember that before the late Yar'adua emerged, there were two other contestants including Buhari from the same state. Yet Yar'adua won. In 1999, it was two Yoruba sons who contested for the presidency.
I understand the need for one candidate to represent Ndigbo at any time but it is not always like that, and when that happens what do you do?.
If you have one credible Igbo candidate, he will defeat other ten Igbo candidates put together.

I am a believer in an Igbo President anywhere, anyday. But it is sad to say that Igbos will hardly produce a consensus candidate because of greed. An average Igbo politician will always consider himself first before the zone (SE). Thats why it will be difficult for them to produce a president in Nigeria.
I was in Owerri 2006 when a meeting of all Igbo politicians was convened, particularly the presidential aspirants of Igbo extraction, to pick a consensus candidate for the presidential race of 2007. All the big wigs of Igbo politics were there. From Alex Ekwueme to Ken Nnamani (the then Senate President), Rochas Okorocha to Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu etc. But sadly, the meeting ended in a deadlock. Nobody was ready to step down for the other. So they could't speak with one voice. That has been the bane of the Igbos.
Quit chatting crap here. Recently, the U.K labour party elected a leader and the contestants were brothers of the same mother and father. Did the U.K populace say anything was wrong with that. The region is blessed with so many capable hands and manpower, so everyone deserves a chance. I so much hate it when some clowns who do not know their left from their right yawn nonsense about Ndigbo.

Ohanaeze did not hastily act the way they did. Ndigbo e.g students, market women, traders, civil servants, Ndigbo off shore etc clamoured for Ohanaeze direction. The body answered the Macedonian call by making consultations upon consultations. They came to the conclusion that GEJ is the most thing to happen to Nigeria at the moment.
Prior to this period, it was not certain on whom I will support, but now it is clearer on the way forward.
Long live Ohanaeze U.K and Dr Uzoalor, Long live Ohanaeze Worldwide and Amb Uwaechue.
Long live Ndigbo and Nigeria.
