It was the end of the road for three friends who exhumed the skull of the uncle to one of them for money ritual in Adamai village, Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, as they are now in the police net.
The corpse was that of one Danso Dinde, who died in a mysterious manner and was buried about three years ago.

Dinde’s remains were buried in front of his family house in Adamai village. The nephew of the deceased, Jimoh Adinde who was caught along with others, by the Ogun State Police confessed to have collaborated with others to carry out the criminal act.

Adinde, a father of two revealed that the trio had carried out the heinous act about 1.00 am and had intended to dispose the skull at the price of 30,000. However, nemesis caught up with the trio when after the successful digging and removal of the skull from the grave, they forgot a cutlass which they had used by the grave side.

The curiousity of a son of the deceased who wondered why his late father’s grave suddenly became untidy led to the discovery of a cutlass which was allegedly traced to Jimoh Jimoh, 25, said he regretted his action which had already been condemned by the larger family and lamented that he would had continued as a commercial motorcyclist in Ajah area of Lagos State but for bad influence and companionship.

His words: “We were friends. The skull was that of my father’s elder brother who died and was buried in front of our family house about three years ago. “We went to dig the grave at 1.00am on Saturday and forgot the cutlass inside it. The cutlass was later traced to us.

“We intended selling the head for N30, 000. My brother, Taye, told other members of the family that I was the owner of the cutlass after which I and the other two were arrested by the police. A fragment of the skull was retrieved from us,” Adende regretted

How can these Enugu ppl be wasting money outside Enugu and Igbo land when we have better things to do back home? They'll soon burn it down when their ritual religious killings begin.
I really know you mean well as usual. My only plea is that Borno people in Enugu or any part of Igboland should respond by building a similar centre in their hosts state.

I'm from Obazu, Mbieri grin. Where are you from?

I was born in Enugu, but since IGBO culture is patriarchal I'm from Imo State. I'm kinda in the same boat with my dad. He was born and partially raised in the north but is from Imo State. Technically speaking I'm not "fully" Igbo. My grandmother is a Cross River woman which makes my mother half IGBO. I acknowledge both my Cross River and IGBO heritage though.
[/quote]There is no ethnic group called Cross River. It could be Ekoi, Legbo, Efik etc. Forget the idea of being fully Igbo or not, your father is Igbo and that makes you Igbo. Be proud of your Igbo heritage.

Borno: Igbo group launches N500m skill acquisition centre

AHMED MARI, Maiduguri

IN its efforts to reduce poverty and unemployment in the society, an Igbo cultural association under the aegis of Enugu Welfare Association (EWA), Borno State chapter recently launched N500m civic and skill acquisition center to train and equip idle and unemployed youths in various trade and skills.
The President-General of EWA Mr. Desmond Agu said during the event that multi-million naira project would also serve as centre for the promotion of cultural heritage and training for both Igbo and Kanuri youths as well as others ethnic groups in the state.
He said crimes like kidnapping and robbery were by-product of unemployment and idleness, saying that building an ultra-modern skill acquisition centre in Maiduguri will drastically reduced the rate of crime in the state, as youths would benefit immensely from it.
“As we set the pace, other groups and highly placed members of the society will emulate us and gradually we will empower every member of the society and bade farewell to unemployment and its aftermath which is destruction of lives and property in frequent crisis”, he said.
On the issue of cultural renaissance, the Igbo chieftain said that the ancestral meaning of their home state, Enugu, stands for “people from the top of a hill”; hence he said the name had been a metaphor of the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo people of Enugu who are prided and respected for their unique cultural heritages like the Ogene, Adanma Masqurade, Ijekwuete, Ikorodu and Chidodo masquerades which are being appreciated as far away as Germany and other European countries today.
He said that if the western world pride itself with its robust economy, African countries should also thrill the world with her rich cultural heritage which could be harnessed into a veritable tourist attraction that can generate revenue for the continent. Noting further that by the time the multi-million cultural and skill acquisition center is completed, there would be a gallery for the periodic display of both Kanem-Borno and the Igbo cultures.
The Borno State governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff was represented at the event by the Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Abba Ashigar, who commended the Enugu State people for coming up with such wonderful initiative especially at a time when the entire state was in dire need for the return of peace shattered by past religious and civil strifes; even as he noted that the Igbos have been part and parcel of the development of the state socially and economically.

I earlier wrote that women with titles break kola nuts in some parts of Delta Igbo region. Reread my post. Thanks for your info on Onitsha.
Ndigbo feel it is more hygienic to break kola nuts with knife. Secondly, some peoples hands are soiled with blood and Ndigbo do not want that. There are more reasons which I may not list here.
