Abagworo: To prove how silly you sound I had to substitute Ika with Abiriba and Benin with EKOI.I can as well do the same with every Igbo sub group.
If you say Ika is not Ukwuani or Ngwa is not Ikwerre or Isuama is not Nri or Item is not Ezza, then you are absolutely right.combining Abiriba,Ngwa,Isuama,Oru,Egbema,Ezza,Izzi,Ohafia,Etche etc as one Igbo and singling out Ika as the only one with peculiarity is quite biased and a fallacy."Midwest Igbo is not Eastern Igbo" is a correct statement but "Midwestern Igbo is not Igbo" is a very wrong statement. Well done Abagworo. The guy has been disgraced in all the sites he has made same claims. His own immediate Ika people have pissed on him severally and denounced him as Ika. Do you remember?. |

However by reading people's post I know most of the members here are unneccessarily argumentative. I'm not Igbo and I don't speak the language, but what I said about edo state holds true, a lot of villages have their own distinct languages. Anioma people are not struggling in any form to be recognised as a separate people. Anioma is an assemblage of Igbo groups West of the Niger. There is no ethnic group called Anioma now or in the past. However, some families from some groups that constitute Anioma feel they are not Igbo. This is mostly seen around IkaIgbo areas and Ukwuani, not the entire Anioma. Finally, there have never been anytime in Western Igbo history that the Obis and and their subjects have come to demand for a separate ethnicity. Anioma began as a movement for the creation of state for the Igbo in the old Western Nigeria. NEVER A MOVEMENT FOR AN ETHNIC IDENTITY. I hope this settles properly in your confused skull. |

dawnosakue: Edo State Bini, Owan, Etsako, Agbede, Usen, Ososo, Esan, Okpilla, Otuo ,
Most villages in edo state have distinct languages. For example, among the Owan, erah is different from orah which is different from otuo. They're all neighbours.
Okpilla and Ososo speak an entirely different dialect. Agbede is bini mixed with igbo. Usen is bini mixed with yoruba. I'm sure edo state alone has about 30 linguistically different ethnic groups.
Even in Asaba, the anioma dialect is different from Anambra Igbo. http://girlspowernigeria..com The bolded part does not make any sense at all. Asaba dialect and Anambra dialects are Igbo. In my LGA in Imo State, two dialects are spoken but one language. Imo state alone has more than fifteen dialects yet one Igbo language. |

i think she thinks shes special cause she from delta state or whateva
sometimes she says shes bendel not igbo or sometimes they say delta igbo instead of igbo, my cuzzos say dont mind her shes an igbo lady with issues.
obviously some have issues During the early days of Igbo union/Ohanaeze, the Ukwuani leaders such as Hon Oputa etc played active roles in the organisation. After the war the anti Igbo Nigerian regimes encouraged them to see themselves as non IGBO and that idea were bought by some of them. But recently, some of them are coming back to their senses. The UKWUANI Union leader here in the U.K is a woman and has proudly identifie with us in our Igbo activities in The U.K. |

Alj Uche: what do you think about the article The writer is a Rivers Igbo who once denied his IGBO Identity. But he is back in his senses now and supports everything Igbo. I disagree a lot with the article. 1st, education in the old east was not in the hands of chiefs and elites. Education in the old east was in the hands of the missions and town unions. The churches established schools in the east and awarded lots of scholarships to pupils to study higher. Secondly, Igbo communities and town unions collaboratively built schools for their villages and that helped spread education in the east. Before the war Ndigbo were at par with the Yorubas in education as a result of my reasons. The war set Ndigbo back educationaly and financially. But through hardwork, Ndigbo bounced back and reclaimed territories that once belonged to them and taking more territories. |

Orikinla: Majority of Yoruba voters have proved that they are wiser than majority of Igbo voters by showing that they can reject the corruption and maladministration of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). They have also shown that they can infact vote for an non-Yoruba presidential candidate without being bribed or cajoled with 419 promises like the Igbos who have made themselves the political goats of Nigeria. Just dangle the grass before them and they will follow you like "mumu".
I am opposed to the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other political sycophant, opportunists and conscienceless beneficiaries of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) the most corrupt political party in the history of Nigeria. The corrupt ruling party PDP has been manipulating and rigging elections since 1999 and doing the same in the 2011 elections in Nigeria.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ruled that polls will be cancelled at any ward or area where there is violence. Therefore, the desperate ruling party provokes and instigates violence to disrupt the strongholds of the Opposition parties so that the polls would be cancelled and give the PDP advantage over the opponents. There were several cases of incidences of electoral malfeasance during the National Assembly elections of Saturday April 9, 2011 and I disagree with INEC and others that "the incidences were not enough to affect the overall results of the elections".
There were rampant rigging as reported by many news reporters and affected the outcomes of the results as shown in Anambra, Imo, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Benue, Kwara and other states where the National Democratic Institute (NDI), Commonwealth Observer Group (COG) and other election monitoring groups did not visit during the polls.
The corrupt ruling party also uses political bribery and gerrymandering to compel voters to endorse and vote for the PDP at the polls. The PDP has succeeded to hoodwink INEC and the monitors. But we have resolved to reject the corrupt ruling party and if we cannot do so through election, we shall do so by a revolution as you have been witnessing in North Africa and the Middle East.
Twelve years of the corruption and maladministration of the ruling party have left the majority of the citizens poorer and powerless with the nightmares of incessant political assassinations, extra judicial killings, ethnic and religious riots, terrorist attacks and systemic collapse of government administration jeopardizing public healthcare, public education and economic security of the poor majority in Nigeria.
a vote for President Goodluck Jonathan is a vote for corruption and maladministration since 1999 to date.
No matter what happens on Saturday, the Yoruba voters have already earned my RESPECT. What a brainless crap from a castrated maggot. If Ndigbo were divided between Ribadu, Shekarau, Buhari and GEJ, this shameless maggot called Orikinla will be the first beast to attack Ndigbo for lack of unity. Now they are united behind Jonathan and you are still running your smelly mouth about the Igbo choice. Get a life you dirty P.IM.P. Ediott. |
