agaugust: spend your time to read the details about missiles on the nigerian navy israeli sea drone USV, its there, i posted so much detail. i dont have time to answer query, this posts on page 103 kept me awake till midnight. i am going to sleep. goodnight.
I did read up on it. I saw no mention of any missiels.
Nigeria is developing a national coastal defence alignment based mainly on unmanned platforms. Under a USD260 million contract signed in March, Israeli Aeronautics Defense Systems will design and build the naval array, providing manned and unmanned naval and aerial systems, coastal radars and command-and-control centers.
This structure will cover all of Nigeria's 853 km coastline and will be designed to protect its territorial waters and the offshore oil platforms in the Niger River delta. To manage the project, the Nigerian government has established a special office that will be linked to the Nigerian Navy, Coast Guard and Ministry of Transportation. The array will be based on Aeronautics' Aerostar tactical unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and the Seastar unmanned surface vehicle (USV). Three Aerostar systems will be provided, each including 3 to 6 platforms, and 3 Seastar systems, including several USVs.
Both systems are controlled through Aeronautics' Unmanned Multi-Application System terminal and software, which provide air vehicle and payload control and enable the integration of different sensors. The Aerostar, with 14 hours operational endurance, is equipped with Controp's Dual-Sensor Stabilized Payload DSP-1, providing day/night surveillance coverage. The 11 m-long Seastar USV provides a mission range of 350 nautical miles and can carry payloads up to 2,500 kg. It could be equipped with day/night sensors, electronic surveillance measures, electronic intelligence/communications sensors, sonar and a stabilized gun system. Together they will comprise an unmanned formation of maritime surveillance and response
The alignment will be complemented with two manned maritime patrol aircraft, equipped with an Inverted Synthetic Aperture Radar.
Under the terms of the contract, 10 naval radar stations will be built along the coastline. Aeronautics will set up two command-and-control centres at the Nigerian Navy's Western Command in Apapa, Lagos, and at the Eastern Command in Calabar. A national command-and-control centre will be established at navy headquarters in Ojo, Lagos.
All centers will receive real-time surveillance information from the various platforms and could control the unmanned missions. In addition to the new surveillance alignment, the Nigerian Navy will establish three forward operating bases in the delta region and has procured six Defender-class fast response boats from SAFE Boats International.
For Aeronautics, the new contract marks substantial growth. " :thumb: It is one of the largest projects in the world in the area of unmanned systems," a spokesperson for Aeronautics told Jane's. "The contract grants the company an unshakable status as a global leader in this area."
Located in Yavne, Israel, privately-owned Aeronautics is competing against Israel's two leading UAV developers: Israel Aircraft Industries and Elbit Systems. With Aerostar sales to eight countries, among them the US, Greece, Angolaand Georgia, and with its Orbiter mini-UAV sold to three international customers, the company appears to be taking a considerable share of the growing international UAV market. ATR-42MP SURVEYOR RADAR PLANES (TWO UNITS)
Given their technical specs., these planes(reportedly acquired at a cost of US$83m) from any point in the eastern Niger Delta will be able to cover Nigeria's entire joint maritime zones with Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tome and Gabon. The planes are to effectively cover a field of view the size of France whilst conducting search-and-resecue operations while it can detect oil slicks over an area equal in size to Burkina Faso,Ghana and Ivory Coast put together.
The configuration of these planes, as obtained from an online description, suggests that they will be coming with hatches in the belly which can be opened. This means they may also be used for dropping supplies, launching AeroStar UAVs and for paratroop drops.
"The ATR 42 Surveyor, also known as the ATR 42 MP, is a derivative of proven ATR 42 commercial aircraft developed to conduct maritime patrol missions and coastal surveillance. It can load the wide spectrum of equipment required to conduct that kind of missions such as radar, FLIR, TV camera, Electronic Support Measures (ESM), Communications and Navigation systems. In addition, bubble panoramic windows have been provided to the Surveyor for optimal visual observation of the environment. The ATR 42 Surveyor can remain on station for up to 8 hours at 200 nautical miles from its base airfield"

*Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) Patrol Patrolling Time up to 6 hours (mission performed at 200 nm from operating base)
*Search and Rescue- Search Area up to 104,000 sq. Naut. Miles (Mission performed at 200 nm from operating base)
*Pollution Detection Detection Area up to 285,000 sq. Naut. Miles (Mission performed at 200 nm from operating base)
Also, 9 months ago or thereabouts, we brought to our notice the fact that the French President had granted approval for the supply of the following hardware systems for the benefit of the Nigerian Navy *FOUR large patrol craft *THIRTY gunboats *TWELVE units of Eurocopter AS-550 naval attack helicopters.
The helicopter is fitted with a wide range of weapon systems to suit the mission and operational requirements of the country's forces.
The AS 555SN is used for shipborne missions operating from ships above 650t.
The 12 helicopters is equipped for anti-submarine warfare and over the horizon (OTH) targeting.
The 12 helicopters can carry a lightweight homing torpedo. A chin-mounted Telephonics RDR-1500B X-band, 360° digital colour radar is used for search and surveillance.
The radar also provides weather avoidance, beacon transponder location, and waypoint navigation display. An unarmed naval variant, the AS555MN can also be fitted with the RDR-1500B.
Wow nigeria has a small coast line.
So was the coast no coverd by radar befor this?
How far till the UAV/USV enter servis.
Have the nigerian helicopters got the ASW sweet. And where do they conduct there ASW training?
agaugust: ITS NOTHING SPECIAL, nigerian military trains with american, british, israeli, indian, pakistani, and other great special forces of the world.
There where not training with the amrican there where training the amrican in bush craft. SA SF train a number of coutries from NATO in bush craft.
ften it's U.S. Army NCOs offering mentorship to African nations - one of the key missions for U.S. Army Africa. This case was the reverse, South African instructors taught U.S. Army NCOs how to survive in the wild, with little more than a rifle and canteen.
agaugust:ISRAELI SEA WATER DRONE, armed with guns, missiles, radar, and electronic warfare equipment unmanned vessel ordered by nigeria, to arrive soon.
What missiles. And KND overs a simlar boat. But SA has no need for one.
...........Best Fast Attack Sea Power In Africa, Nigerian Navy Gun-Missile Super Boats.........
Nigerian Navy has the largest, most modern and most powerful force of naval sea, river, coast, swamp, lagoon, and creek water vessels/boats in the whole of Africa, superior to Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, and all other rivals in shallow waters combat power.
About 300 fast attack/assault sea/river vessels/boats of various sizes 10m to 60m are in service with the Nigeria Navy for this type of naval combat. About 250 of those vessels/boats are brand new latest ultra-modern technology and purchased between years 2007 and 2012, they make nigerian navy rank among the top 10 largest and most modern small to medium fast naval combat vessel navies in the whole world.
Only Nigerian Navy has stealth and missile armed fast attack sea crafts in Africa, with 4 brand new eagle class vessels purchased from singapore but built in Australia with the best stealth technology in the world today.
As African navy can dare to challenge the great Nigerian Navy to sea, river, coast, swamp, lagoon or creek water battle, any such challenger will be made to sink to the bottom of the waters for ever.
View photos of these un-beatable force of the Nigerian Navy below.
Yep nigeria a lot of small boats. Some of them very nice.
Where info on the eagel class. And I thought they where still under construction.
South africa is plaining to get somthing along the lines of the gowind class corvet. Though with south african wepaons and sytems of course
snydergp: Bro i thought I gave it to your lady as a valentines day gift last month so that she can make ME a milk bath with roses, especially for when I visit her on the side .
By the way if had a cow it would've been on a braai(barbecue) stand by now roasting or in cold storage for my weekend pooitjie(stew) and beer festival.
Beef biltong is all so a good idea. Though personaly I ptever the game biltong.
Henry120: Yeah, RIGHT. It can do 360 decreases at top speed. Can't it also do somersaults, I guess the only thing left, is for the boat to represent SA at the olympics (gymnastic events). Great competition for the russians and chinese in RIO 2014.
They are okay, but I'm not impressed. I've seen better.
If you want you can come through to simmons town on between the 5 to 7 of aprill for the SA navy open day. They do the 180 degree turn.
The 360 turn is called a figure of 8 turn. It servis no milltary purpose but is still is a neat trick.
You correct they not the best patrol boats in the world. But for what there mission is there is nothing that beats them in africa. Rember they not war ships they built to protected harbous and water ways against covert, light attacks and costbillrie duties. Where stragic mobilty (they can be transport by road, air or sea) tactical mobilty (high speed, agil, shallow draft) are the most imported. We not iran and have no plan to use speed boats to attack warships.
SAN has 3 of these T craft. They classed has IPV but where built has air sea reascue launches. But they no longer needed in that role. Though unarmend they can carry one 12.7mm(some say it can carry a 20mm but in the DRC they had 12.7mm) and two 7.62mm machin guns. Crew of 15 it has a 7 day endurance and carrys a RIB. It has radar, echo sounder, GPS, commons and water jet engiens.
3 where sold to isreal.
They will be replaced(or complemted) by projected biro IPVs.
Basicaly the same set up has a namcurra with 4 big difrences 1 water jets means no pros so it can operta in even shalower water 2 much greater range at 12 hours at 15knots 3 larger carry capacty with space for 6 marines or cargo 4 not has agile but still can go over 30 knots
SAN has around 15 all with the MRS(marins) they can be moved over road, air and by sea but have yet to be used in a deployment. They painted white since they ment for peace keeping missions.
Namacurra habor patrol boat is used to patrol harbors of SA and by OBD(Marrines) has a patrol boat. They where active in burrinde.
Speed is over 30knots Crew is 4 minim and optmal 5 armend with one 12.7mm and one 7.62mm machin guns. Crew is armend with R5 carbins and 9mm plus one shotgun(for if they rcover prisoners. One shot can stop a rush) and scare charges for killing divers.
Deacal radar, GPS, fishfinder(works has a diver finder) and full set of comms makes the rest of the boat.
They are incredbly agil boat able to pull 360(yes 360 not just 180) degree turns at full speed.
They come in at under 5tons and can be transport ove land, by air and can be carried by SAS draksberg.
Both nambia and mozibique each have 2. SA has over 20.
CAMEROONPRIDE: ^ i like the spirit never knew SA were that proud lol
To fault. There is this beife among south africans. Only we can complian about south africa. If you sit in real sillent in a SA bar you will hear all these problems (crime, corruption, incoptent leaders, poor infustructer extra) but if a forghiner complians he will get torn apart because he is either soft rich kid from some 1st world country or he is frome some dirt pile and should not complian and be happy he is in SA.
CAMEROONPRIDE: yes ..just go where you quote the videos and erase the link of the video or you erase the whole comment and just let a point(.) thank you
I removed the links but I am keeping the text. They are relvent to the thread.
Henry120: Why you think they don't get punished is beyond me. Anyway, I'm done with this country bashing for now.
However, I won't you to get this straight, all soldiers who commit war crimes, every one of them get court martialed and if the allegations against them are substantiated/ proven, they get there due punishment.
It is left for you to believe whatever you want to believe, to be honest, we could not careless what you want to believe.
I never heard of them getting punished. And a link was asked for so a link was given.
pleep: when white people were savages it was not caught on video.. we will never live this stuff down.
WW1 WW2 the boer war eastern europes troubels. Whites have done there fare share of baberic actions from gass attacks concentrasion camps, ethnic cleansing, targeting civlians extra extra. War is barbaric.
CAMEROONPRIDE: i thought number doesn't count that much
Every thing counts. And there level of training and hardware is not enough to put off there size. They where strong enough that not even SADF viloted there terrorty during the border war but they where not strong enough to take the fight to us. Botswana in the current world is strong for what they need to do, border patrol, anti poaching and delaying any invasion long enough till help arrives. Unless the part of SADCBRIG then there light infantry and light armour will be of great help.
Zim army biggest problem is AIDS over 50% is estermated to be infected higher than the national averiage and a bigger problem than money.
CAMEROONPRIDE: There is no difference both are cruel and barbaric .....
I was talking about getting punished. 29 SA solders where imprisonded for have sex with prostiuts in DRC. The US peeing solders where punished. I agree you can't blam a army on a few bad appels but you can on what they do.
CAMEROONPRIDE: let's not judge a whole army or country by what some did, yes a lot of nigerians raped and extorted sierra leonan but it happens everywhere , last time it was the american soldiers peeing on a dead corpse , many atrocities are committed during war and people tend to abuse of their power.
furthermore not every Ecomog soldier is Nigerian
There is a diffrence betwwen peeing on a dead boddie and get punished and shooting some one because you suspect he is a rebel and getting away with it. Nigeria made up most of the ecomog forces and the reporter did state he was with nigerians.
pleep: the funniest thing is.. most of these countries dont even have the logistical capacity to attack each other
Most african armies have one combat solder to 1 support solder where nato has 1 combat to 5 support the best african armies can only get 1 combat to 3(SA) support and many african armies have 3 combat to one support
And I will give my source tonight. It is a report and finding the weblink may take a long time.
agaugust: you are not ashamed to ask me for source? what sources did you quote on the past dozen pages of this forum? all your false claim about GV6 artillery range 100km, lies about nigerian army r.aping women in sierra Leone and many other claims you posted with no source to prove your claim.
You lost your credibility here and you should be ashamed to query my own.
I will not post any source for you because I am not posting to please you on this forum. I post for any interested public reader. Go sit down man
The g6 fired a round 100km you can look it up in the guniies book of world records.
And I gave you a wonderfull video to search for go to yitube and search for
UN - ECOMOG war criminals terrorising sierra leone and liberia
Henry120: Hahahahahaha, we got huge, mighty huge problems on this continent. The funny thing or not so funny thing is we are the richest continent in terms of mineral resources.
CAMEROONPRIDE: better than ethiopa. Angola also infact my top 10 is:
Algeria Nigeria SA Egypt Uganda Angola Kenya Rwanda Tanzania Botswana/Ethiopia
You got a strange list
First of is this list in order because if yes it really really mesed up.
Next etyopya has larger and better trained milltary than a few on the list.
And BDF? Yes BDF are well triand but they are a small milltary with only a few. Heavy wepaons and would be unable to stop a Zimbawen invasion with out a SA/SADC intervension. They geard towards slowing any invasion down long enough for help to arrive
Talking about that I would put SADC on that list and ECOMOG
SADC is the most unified of all the african blocks with close to zero chance of each other going to war and other than DRC and ZIM highlly stabel. SADC stand by brigade all ready had a joint exersize in SA and of the coast of nambia. Has a unit force we have no weakness
..........Nigerain Army Goes Wild With New Killer Missile And Cannon Type 97 Fighting Vehicle.......
This armoured infantry fighting vehicle carries 3UBK10 ATGM consists of a laser beam riding missile and a container case. The missile is used as a part of the Bastion missile system (NATO reporting name: AT-10 Stabber). As well as engaging armoured vehicles and fortifications, the missile could also engage low-flying enemy aircraft. The missile has a range of 4,000m. Hit probability is 80% and the armour penetration capability is 600mm. The system carries eight missiles inside the turret.
Weapons include a 100mm cannon, and remote controlled 30mm coaxial automatic cannon, with 500 rounds. The cannon can fire both armour-piercing (AP) and HE-FRAG rounds. Rate of fire is 300 rounds/min and range is 1,500 to 2,000m. It also has a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun located on its side.
This modern year 2006 model IFV is nigerian army's new k.iller of enemy armoured tanks and low flying enemy aircraft. The 133 units purchased gives nigeria the capacity to fire over 1,000 anti-tank missiles against enemy armoured vehicles or over 1,000 anti-aircraft missiles against enemy aircraft that tries to attack the army from the air. this all terrain vehicle also swims in deep water.
The current free spending jamboree by niegria is bringing large numbers of brand new and latest technology weapons into all our armed forces at a very rapid rate, and it seems to have no end yet, many more heavy weapons are still coming for delivery, already paid for in advance from china, israel, france, holland, sweden and USA.
