agaugust: your reply makes no sense, did you think before you wrote ?

there are confirmed official records of south african military weapons easy to count. nigerian weapons have no written official source we can use to count them. if beegeagle did not post photos of Type 90 AAA and i say it here on nairaland that nigeria bought a new modern air defence gun that was developed in china more recent than your Gripen jet will you ever believe me ?

Gripen Jet tech service date 1997
Type 90 Anti-aircraft gun tech service date 1999.

you always wish other countries dont have modern weapons, only south africa, how is that possible ? other powerful countries are not F00LS !
most of the wepaons in nigeria are listed in iss or janes. even wepaons that bergel dose not have photos of. I am still waiting for you to tell me how it is modern.

type 90 is actually 1980 era.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 5:27am On Jun 07, 2013
agaugust: who cares about your opinion ? i dont work under your command, do i ? you think a lot about how you believe people value your comments, you lost public respect long ago on nairaland.

Type 056 stealth guided missile light frigate, if you dont like it, go j_ump off the top of a skyscraper in johannesburg grin, your w_ife will find another h_usband grin

i will not do research and post south african T-craft for you, find source and lets see the aluminium old boat your navy uses for secret fishing when their admiral is not looking. grin
It is not made from aluminium though. So show me that source that says it is. Or did you make it up. What els have you made up.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 11:15pm On Jun 06, 2013
Donian007: The reason so many people underestimate Nigerian Military is becos of sm level of secrecy, e.g, it was during our 50th Anniversary that a lot of people first saw Nigerian Scorpion Tanks, and many more deadly tanks and artillery, new and strong, though we read abt them but always imagin seeing them live in action or motion. I always believe that the Nigerian Military is planning to shock us with the Akash MDSystem, L15 falcon, JF17 thunder, Sukhoi fighters again on our 55th Independnc.
Only to the uniformend. I mean the raist radar has never been displyed but people know you have it. Nigeria is not cold war russia. Don't act like it.

If you know of all these things going to apear on the 55 anversry how are the secruit. I know because you talking through your ass.

You nigerians are reall foolish to think we will bielf this bull.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 11:12pm On Jun 06, 2013
agaugust: by secret, we mean...

south african army website shows all your major weapons and lists their types and numbers with photos.
official website http://www.army.mil.za/

nigerian army website does NOT show any weapons list or photos.
official website http://www.army.mil.ng/

compare the two websites in the links for each one above. sure you got the message clear now.
That website is out of date. It never gets any updats. Any case all nigerias wepaons are listed dose not matter that they not on there website or not.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 11:10pm On Jun 06, 2013
agaugust: dont tell lies against me, the chinese manufacturers called it a guided missile light frigate and listed its weapons, guns, missiles, ECM, and the nigerian warships are even bigger than the original chinese navy versions so why should it be less armed ?

people call the ships OPV because they are built to patrol sea of china and defend against american navy warships and submarines in the south china ocean near taiwan and japan, yet the whole world knows it carries the weapons of a frigate and china's navy is using it to replace even bigger frigates that are not stealth.

http://www.topnews.in/law/chinese-navy-gets-new-stealth-frigate-2132652

the 2 nigerian navy new stealth warships will be bigger than the same type in china's navy. its name therefore has been re-coded as P18N, no more Type 056 Frigate. for this class of warships nigerian navy versions are bigger and better than the original chinese navy versions. original Type 056 is 89m, but nigerian version is 95m, we expect it to be better armed as a specially customized warship and have a longer range/endurance days at sea.

everybody chooses the name they want to call the warship but most people call it two names together at the same time, eg OPV/Corvette, Light Frigate/ Corvette, etc.

DIRECT QUOTE FROM WIKIPEDIA :

"The Type 056 is the first Chinese warship with module design, which makes it cover the roles from OPV to multi-role frigate

http://www.sinodefenceforum.com/navy/type-056-opv-corvette-101-5339.html

i dont care to even convince you, i gain nothing from it if you believe or doubt, i gain nothing and it does not change the warship to what you wish. the ship will remain what the manufacturer has built it to be. i am sure i have convinced every honest human being with the whole 5 weblink sources i post above. your opinion, keep to yourself, i dont care about you andrewzaa. simple
A hull is a hull and can be made in to many diffrent thinks. So just because the ones in china haver a certain stuff dose not mean the one in nigeria will be the same.

It not call a OPV bbecause it ment to patrol against american warships. A OPV by there nature are not suited to fight war ships. It may be larger but that dose not mean more wepaons.

The thing is no one knows what wepaons it will have. The only thing for sure is that NN is calling it a OPV. So stop calling it a frigate when it is not a frigate.

You are a bloody fool who knows nothing yet thinks he is the smartest man alive. You distort truths, come up with your own facts and complian when people call you out.

I am still waiting on your source for the T-craft by the way.

Donian007: hey! hey! hey! OLODO, When I mean they're known for secrecy its not that they stamp SECRET on those hardware and punish any1 who takes pictures, No. Unlike u SouthA military that takes such photos and post them on the net for publicity NA don't.
so they just hide them away where no one can see them. AKA don't use them. Most pics are not taken by the SANDF but by media or defense industry, all so the SANDF has our secrets don't worry.

agaugust: people dont shake me, i dont work under you, so i dont respond to your command, i do my post when i wish to, i have all my points ready even before i asked you guys to simulate Gripen Vs Roland.

ask @andrewza, he knows me better, i dont rush war simulation because i am not a copy and past internet military commentators like you south africans.

all the 5 of you made bad simulation and i am not impressed even by your own air force officer @Fighter Pilot, he does not know how to simulate....its a bit like a research project....you guys all failed the first step...no assumptions stated, you guys just jumped into a battle field with no assumptions...go back to page 236 and check my own naval blockade simulation, i made 7 assumptions and your south african photo/video soldier andrewza made zero assumptions...you gonna get k_illed in w_ar that carelss way my friend !

dont try push me to act like a d_ummy b_rain...i am not one !

i will post my own Gripen jet Vs Roland SAM simulation piece by piece, too much details at the same time will be too much for all your 5 south african b_rains combined to understand.
no but you sure suck at them, i do wonder how you will get the roland to shoot a aircraft down that can fly higher than it can shoot though
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 10:12pm On Jun 06, 2013
agaugust: nigerian weapons are secret, nigerian soldiers are not secret human beings. no nigerian soldier's personal photo showed any secret weapon , only their APC or rifles. all those photos in uniform and posing are the soldiers personal photos, not official.

faces of many south african soldiers are available on free internet google search including some of your 8 'scarce and precious' Gripen Jet pilots.

go sit down men.
Many were in front of some interesting things. And if these weapons are so secret why are they cropping up on beegel all the time.

Difference is who takes the photos. They all veted by a USMO or CIO

This notion that nigerian army has all these secrets is Bull. The only way to keep all these secret weapons hidden is to not use them, meaning they then become useless since no one will know how they work.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 10:06pm On Jun 06, 2013
agaugust: sorry you need urgent eye doctor's treatment to read simple english language, the new nigerian army build spy device is located and stays high up at 84km high in outer space, almost 300,000 feet above the earth and above all south african air force Gripen jets. you played penalty kick over the goal post bar grin grin grin

"According to Major Genral Tijani, the technology has been upgraded and has a 84 kilometer launch into space."

Henry120: Andrew, you intentionally left this part. Just so you could create mischief. If you aren't a pure breed confusionist, then I'm not a nigerian.

"we have two variants and four sub-classes in NA service – BTR-3E which is the APC variant and the BTR-3 U-series which are IFV variants. This could be the APC variant which has the KPV 14.5mm machine gun while the turreted IFV variant it is which carries the KBA-105 “Shkval” unified fighting module which can accommodate 30mm gun, 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, 30mm automatic grenade launcher and anti- tank guided weapons simultaneously. Even so, these weapons on the Shkval module can apparently all be detached in which case you might find 7.62mm coaxial MG as the only weapon visible, subject to the mission requirement.

These are the variants in NA service

IFV
BTR-3UN (night attack variant)
BTR-3UK
BTR-3UR (recce variant)

APC
BTR-3E/14.5mm HMG-armed

The vehicle which you see above is a BTR-3 though. The sheer size, 1.6 times larger than the BTR-60, already gives the hulk away from this point. Not to mention the rear lights and the more modern and angular outlines.

Gentlemen, that is the first published photo of a Nigerian Army BTR-3, on paper or on the internet. We have also brought you first photos of tracked Spartan APCs and Samaritan ambulances and a first photo of a 14.5mm MG-armed MT-LB"
i thought everybody here knew that. I just feel we should know what a nigerian BTR 3 looks like

Donian007: Like we alwez tell u the Nigerian Military is widely known for secrecy, IISS, Defense, SIPRI, etc does not have all records of hardware in Nigerian Military Inventory, what u see Gen. Beeg bring to fore is by independent investigation as hes close to sm military chaps. Dnt be IGNORANT!
If it is so secret why are there so many photos of Nigerian soldiers posing in front military hardware like they on porn star.

If they so secret why is beegel allowed to post all these pics.

Over all nigerian logic is wak. In SA many o those pic could get you in to deep trouble. CI rule number one. Dont speak about what is not public knowledge.

i posted that so that we could see what a nigerian BTR3 looks like. That way we can stop getting pics of other countries BTR3s

you say you are a navy personnel, then write for the people on nairaland here including your fellow south africans , the list of the main weapons that an OPV can carry. simple. we are all waiting for you.
most OPVs have main gun it can be any thing from a 20mm up to 76mm, few have helipads, and even few have space for millsiels. But weapons are not what makes a warship it only part of it. However i don't care what your OPV carries no one knows yet. So calling it a Guided missile frigate is foolish. Only thing we know is that it is a OPV and has germain engines.

nigerian army build new hi-tech spy devices, launches them into space

May 18, 2013 breaking news

The Nigeria Army said it has developed intelligent devices that will tackle the Boko Haram insurgency.
The Nigerian Army on Wednesday boasted that it has developed hi-tech devices capable of gathering information and intelligence to tackle the Boko Haram insurgency and other acts of terrorism across the country.
The General Officer Commanding, 2 Div., Ibadan, Ahmed Tijani, made the disclosure at a lecture held at the Army formations headquarters in Ibadan.

Mr. Tijani, a Major General, said the sophisticated devices, in form of balloons, were unveiled in 2012.

During the American Civil War, from 1861-1865, hot-air balloons – the forerunners of spy planes and today’s satellites – were used by both the Union and the southern Confederacy, in present day United States of America, to monitor troop movements and regiment size, and gather intelligence.

According to Mr. Tijani, the technology has been upgraded and has a 84 kilometer launch into space.

The Guest Speaker, Brigadier General Nwokoro Ijioma, spoke on the theme, “Transforming the army into a force better able to meet contemporary challenges”.

He said the balloons would be deplored to the hotbeds of terrorism attacks in the country.
Thousands of Nigerians have been killed by insurgents in Northern Nigeria; particularly by the Boko Haram sect.

i said it this morning, south african weapons manufacturing is no longer better than nigeria because each country has chosen what it wants to build for according to its own different defense policy, plans, and needs.

time proves me right.

agaugust: show me a source to prove that nigerian type 056 has weapons different from the ones published in all websites and reports. show me and give me the list of the nigerian weapons and prove to us ithas no missiles and anti-submarine capabilities , prove it of else i will call you a permanent F00L from the w.omb

south african plans to build a number of corvettes/OPV IPV is a wish list that has no money to fund it, your country cannot even maintain over half of its Gripen jets, keep on dreaming...one of your valour frigates engine was due for replacement sometime recently. dont dream of many weapons south africa has no money to buy.
why must i prove it, it is a OPV that is what all sources say. The thing is not even built yet so i will not speculate how ever we know it will be a OPV.

Any case i compared the chinese version to the valour a long time ago. It cam off seconded.

It is not a wish list and is already funded same has the MPA program.

agaugust: you are wrong, new generation jet fighters CANNOT provide close air support to their own soldiers at high altitude to avoid 'friendly fire errors'. south african air force academy trained you very poorly. you south africans have a wrong idea that jet fighters perform miracles at high altitude against ground targets, no way, they can only do air to air dog fights or BVR engagements against enemy aircraft.

your air force uniform i keep hanging on a mango trr until you learn real art of war, then i give you and @andrewza one ladder each to get your uniforms down from tree top.

Make a habit of using your own time to search on google, stop wasting peoples time.
it is a copy of a 1945 american 105mm gun the only thing different is the protective shield.

compare it to the system on a G5
https://www.denel.co.za/images/image_bank/09.jpg
notice the computers used to provide accurate guidance and reaction,

still think those guns are modern

If you keep posting deliberate lies I will put you on the list of men without honour.
no you messed up. The type 90 is a copy of a GDF 002 built in the 1980s. SA uses a local modziced GDF 003 so it not even has good has our 35mm guns.

south africa has not done better, because every country has its own area of focus in weapons building. israel has not built its own jet fighter aircraft and its nation's survival depends very much on its air force.

people over-estimate south africa because you publish free photos, videos, data of all the weapons you manufacture. some other countries like nigeria like to keep silent about their own. we are two different countries with different policy and rules.

i wont reply you again if you make posts that are not intelligent, i dont have time for such, i work.
OPV not corvet and not a frigate, it all so close to the amount of local stuff in the valour frigate's whitch are far more advanced. Not to mention SA will soon build a number of corvettes/OPVs IPV in SA.

That because dixon knows that non of there stuff would ever sell overseas.

agaugust: that video proved you wrong by showing that satellites can track/monitor fast moving objecs and relay/transmit the information in real time with or without transponder, that is my point, dont reduce scientific advancement of the world backeards just because you lied and i proved you a liar.

many things done by satellite, city traffic jam control centers/rooms watch the cars moving in traffic on the streets watched and relayed by staellites, did the government put transponders on all cars in the country for monitoring ? are you living in a village bush or thick jungle forest ?

now show everybody here on nairaland your own web link sources to prove that satellites don't track and relayoving objects because when Brazil scores world cup goal in Germany people will not see the goal until one hour later in South Africa during a live football match transmission.

We are all waiting for web link sources to prove your fake claim of satellite capability

i wont waste my precious time arguing with you on simple science/technology facts that the whole world knows and uses since many years ago.
that video was pics taken from space. It does not show any planes being tracked. So please dont think we are ignorant friends that believe every thing you say.

i travel regularly by air and in all civilian aircraft every passenger seat has a screen for eacch man to watch, we see our own british airways plane moving every step of the fight from london to new york by satellite right in front of every passenger.

you are not a man to be trusted on this forum because you tell lies too openly even denying simple scientific truths. i dont know a white man can be so fraudulent. s_hame on the nation of south africa.

when you @andrewza tell open lies in front of clear correct evidence, you k_ill this thread, people lose interest, you become a man that decent people do not respect, and every other thing you write on this forum, people dont believe you again because you d.estroyed your own credibility and reliability by telling many lies.

good point, now you @andrewza just confirms nigerian Roland SAM is very effective at its age of 28 years, based on what you just said above. thanks for proving my point at last ! thanks for this truth !

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSSosDM8yG4
Misslies not so much though.

It is posbile to work off the roland to make somthing effective. This was done with the milane AGM by france. Even the A'darta can go back and trace it orgines to a number of 1990s AAM. So it is has I siad. You can not look at age you must look at what it can do.

Here is a good way to do it. What is it's role can it still perfom that role

Roland (air deffense) ratel (IFV)

Roland first

Though it would still be a threat vs low flying targets of the region it is no longer able to threaten current gen fighters. Remember nigeria uses the block to roland. All in all vs helcopters or any thing that can be forced to fly low the roland would be effective. How ever with only J7 to worry about why would SAAF play at that game.

Ratel.
Though vunrbile to autocanon fire and RPGs/AGMs(somthing the badger fixes) it still impuverses vs small arms fire and 12.7 over the front. It mine/IED protecstion is still seconded to none. Edurance is best of it's class. Fire power. The 20mm version is the most common and well it a 20mm. The 90mm 81mm morta and AGM version each bring somthing to the tabel. Ratel 90 have been knowen to fight T55 MBT and win. The T55 is still the most common tank in africa and the ingwene could take out just about any tank in the world(some may need side shots though). All in all the ratel is still abel to do the job it is built for and will remain in servis along side the badger.

I wonder if he knows the gripen can launch the A-datar use a diffrent data linked radar to guide it. Meaning it can perfom a over the shoulder shot and shoot some one any where. Even behind them. The A-darter all so leaves no smoke trial so let's sa a ground based radar south of a enemy sees a air craft it could guide a A-dart launched from a gripen let's say east of it. That enemy would not even know the gripen knows he is there since the gripen can keep his radar off.
