After school, I worked a while. I was this hardworking chap who wouldn't like any errors or queries attached to my name at work for any reasons. I came very early, did my duties in time, and due to my religious obligations as one of Jehovah's Witness, I was honest in all my dealings.

The job itself was a leopard’s tree. Since it was a private business, and the manager a very greedy man who loots the chief oga at whim, trust me, your honesty is a turn-off.

The work was becoming unbecoming and I couldn't continue wasting my life for a 7-5 job. It wasn't like the salary befitted the workload!

I had to quit!

I also had one small car I bought when I no dey think of anything. I sold it and used part of it to buy a land like that. I had saved some N800k already. So I paid my rent with N200k.
So here's what I did:

I thought of a business that'll likely yield profit immediately, and around my budget. I had been to Togo and remembered how selling First Grade OK shoes was the new gold for students and people who wanted a side hustle.

I travelled down there then and returned with 100 pairs of OK shoes. As at then, I bought it for N370k.

N370k + logistics rounded the money up to N400k.

Now, I put the goods in one room in my apartment and the chase for a shop began. Since I couldn't afford those ones of N1m that where located at the heart of the business in my location, I opted for an affordable one.

In fact, everything for the rent was some 180k.

Omo, looking for a shop no bi beans.

I did the painting and decor, carpentry (learnt in school), and electricals (learnt in school).

Materials I bought was some N15k. I was left with N5k or less.


Breakthrough
As I cleaned and sampled my petty goods, some customers were already purchasing. Mehn, after the whole stress that day, I made N30k.

In fact, it was then I said I wouldn't work for anyone and be answering “sir” upandan. I'm quite hardworking and in a short time, from retailing...I began ordering in tonnes and have a warehouse.


It has been easy as it is written here but I have seen people ask if N600k can make any profit. Yes, it can. I also do some side hustles like research writing, proofreading, hardware repairs on PC and tracking of lost devices, computer consultancy, and work as an academic assistant.

So I think it all depends on you! Maybe I have not reached the height I want to reach, just mehn, the way my life every year becomes better than the last no bi beans. As a first son, and to say my nuclear family bi like an extended family, I know I am trying...cos it's not easy at all to carry many people's responsibility as yours.

When did you start ? And I thought Nigeria close border against Togo ?

Though there are a lot of scam out there but it will stil be an assumption to imagine that Africans won't like to marry African American. People are different and have different view on whom they want to marry. On my own side, if I have anything against marrying a foreigner especially European/American is mainly because of divorce. Their rate of divorce is too high . They just do it like a normal thing as if they are changing their clothes .
You can easily find an American that has married more than 3 times . I am from a broken home, I never saw my dad and mum together. I lacked that parental care and I did struggled to survive. I don't want my children to experience such thing in life. My parents marriage didn't work but mine must work . I want to have a beautiful home with my wife and kids and whenever our kids come home they will see dad and mum cuddling

I was watching Evaton vs Chelsea match when my negbour called me that my girlfriend mum came to our compound with police, that i should'nt return home for today.

My mum have never liked my wife to the extend of wishing her death when she lost our first baby and I had disowned her for saying that. So far we haven't had any contact since the incident and we are finally proud parents of twins boy and girl born in February. My stepmother have been here for us since day 1 she is in my house taking care of my wife and babies , my mum called saying that she want to come over and take care of my wife and kids and will be spending a month . I lied to her that my wife is with her sister and will let her know when she is back to the house so she can come over. To be Frank I don't want her near my wife because she doesn't likes her and I don't think she have any good plan for us. One thing I don't like about law as a profession is that, it lacks principles. Mike ozekhome can be seen in court today, defending apc members for a particular issue and tomorrow, he'd be in court defending PDP members in another court, for the same issue.

Legal practice is a business and every human being is a potential customer. You don't form allies with a particular group hence you will lose other clients . Any client that is willing to pay for your services is most welcomed irrespective of the party he belongs to.

In today's society, I noticed that people seem to see those that do not go to church regularly as not being serious with their heavenly race and salvation of soul and this makes it look like one salvation of soul is tied down to going to church regularly.

I am one of such person that do not like going to church at all, but I believe so much in God and I know I am not the only one in this. This problem is faced by so many people in the world.

So is there anything wrong in one not going to church regularly but believe in God within himself or herself and try his or her best in doing the things that pleases God.

I haven't also been to church since the beginning of this year. But i know very well that it is wrong not because people are saying so. Whatever people say is not my priority except it's in line with the bible.

I am not judging you, I have same problem. But the church is where you get edified . My prayer life and worship dropped since I stopped going to church regularly. Prayer was a lifestyle but it has become a burden , my vision has also dropped. I begin to guess things whereas I used to see things before they ever occur. The bible said iron sharpeneth iron .
Worship and prayer is based on information, hence you need to be informed about what God is doing in the generation. This will make you to pray and worship rightly .
Don't say I don't go to church but I believe in God with all my heart. The bible said , even the devil believes in God . He so much believes in God that at the mention of the name of Jesus , he trembles.

We really need to change . We must stop living for ourselves. We don't decide how we want to worship God , there is a pattern laid down in the bible that we must follow. Aaron sons tried to worship God in their own way and they were crunched.

I know I may get some backlashes for this on Nairaland but the truth is some industries deal more with looks than any other thing, hospitality (I mean the top ones) is one of them. Even if you apply for some position in bank without an extreme enticing body/shape, you will not be selected.
It's a known fact everywhere not just in Nigeria, you should know your look/ body shape can get you disqualified for some jobs.

I remember someone saying "ooomo, una get fine fine girls for here o" when I was working for one company few years ago. The truth is beauty is one of the things they consider in that company when recruiting (not only for girls), because they believe they sell looks and naturally or not, you must be presentable at all times.
Most top hospitality need modelled structured individuals especially at the front office or someone with banging body as Yinkaolusesi16 says.
