Well UK will not be perceived as impartial enough as former colonial masters. UK have a very soft spot for the North for example. Industrial revolution also began in the UK, so they have had the longest time for their economy to evolve. Whereas Singapore, Canada, Australia & New Zealand have grown/developed more rapidly. So we can emulate them while factoring in our culture and peculiarities.

We also share a common language & some aspects of British colonial legacy with the aforementioned countries. So a certain "camaraderie" and common outlook can be expected. We already have certain cultural affiliations and agreements under the auspices of Commonwealth.

It doesn't mean we cannot make use of Japanese, Korean, Chinese or German technical assistance if needs be.

Everybody just wants to belong.

Even the harshest critics will jump at any chance to be visible with powers-that-be.

(3) compulsory birth registration within 90 days of birth with 7500 Naira incentive or a fine of 7500 Naira for failure. And compulsory biometric registration of all Nigerians within a year or severe sanctions. So that we know how many people the country needs to plan for. With time we can even turn voting into a remote one using finger print and iris match. We can even pioneer something with it.

(4) Get experts from a commonwealth country like Canada or Australia or Singapore (not UK) that managed to advance in a fairly short time to help study and review our industrial policy to proffer sustainable solutions because we clearly lack that expertise.

These are doable things within years. In just over a decade the results will positively shape our economy.

Only someone with a sense of urgency can do these and other things.

One very reliable method is carbon dating (radio-carbon dating). You see, organic matters contain carbon. A particular type of carbon called Carbon-14 (C-14) is in the environment/air. Unlike Carbon-12, C-14 is an unstable Isotope. That is it decays with time. Maybe you know of the concept of half-life from school chemistry. Though C-14 has a long half-life of over 5,700 years. Some other isotopes' half-life is minutes, seconds or millions of years. Note that an unstable isotope can decay into an entirely new, stable element. Like the radio-active C-14 decays into non-radio-active and stable Nitrogen-14.

Anyway as plants & animals live, they take C-14 from the environment, be it in the form of the oxide or otherwise. Plants take in C-14 in carbon dioxide which may settle in the plant tissue (e,g, Ugwu leaves). Humans then eat ugwu leaves and the C-14 settles/deposits in the bone.

But as soon as the plant or animal (including humans) die, they stop taking in C-14 from the environment/air/food. From that point on, the C-14 they took in when alive starts to breakdown/decay. So when you find a fossil/skeleton/wood, you can then use the decaying C-14 in the bone or wood to calculate back when the decay started. So the C-14 in the bone of someone who died 5,000 years ago will have "technically" decayed far more than one of someone who died 300 years ago. This is not really physical decay of the flesh but of the C-14 isotope it took in before it/he died.

This is a simple way to put it.

As for age of the earth calculation, it still boils down to radio-activity. Using Radiometric/radio-active dating, the oldest materials found on earth or moon surface contain certain radioactive isotopes. These materials may be stone samples from meteorites. These can just be impure radioactive bits left in these ancient samples. Some are isotopes decaying at a constant rate. Like the above isotopes in dating age of bones, these are used to calculate back age of the meteorite samples. Combining these samples findings with studies of the earth's strata/rock layers have given earth's age to be roughly 4.5 billion years plus or minus.

So what if meteorites are still buried in the earth that will suggest the earth is even older if found and studied??

I believe the last word is not spoken yet regarding how old the earth is.
