Aside for consumption, a friend once told me they use it in factories they produce chemicals and even edibles.

It has many uses. But like most 9ja things eveyone rushes into things at the same time. Then suddenly at harvest there is surplus and prices collapse.

The collapse this year has been spectacular.
Many new cassava farmers make basic errors. They aim to sell to companies who need it for the starch but grow the varieties with low starch. When the company tests samples from the farm, they reject it for low starch.

There is a variety eaten like sweet potato and tastes just like that. Can be cooked, roasted or fried just the same way. A bit rare these days and eating the wrong variety can be dangerous.

This is the kind of investment govt should be making. Create centres that can mop up excess cassava, to guarantee a decent price and export the processed cassava products. Individual farmers cannot do that easily. Then get farmers and the public to buy shares in the business.
Makes more sense than spending millions of dollars on a national airline that does not exist.

We have been lamenting for years how little recognition bright ladies get compared to those flaunting flesh. This is not even limited to women.

Only recently a few bright people get some assistance. But still too little.

I know of girls who graduated with top degrees as far as 30 years ago. They still needed their relatives to sponsor them abroad for PG. Unless retained by their respective universities. Academic jobs weren't even that attractive at that point. Poor pay then.

I'm yet to see governors dancing with first class graduates like they did with BBN candidates.

A relative migrated to Canada with his wife and five kids some years ago. To do his PhD. He had around 50k USD. Still it wasn't easy. Apparently he was struggling so much that hardly anyone heard from him. That was before Canada began to tighten up immigration.

Do not relocate your entire family with you yet unless you have a visa category that allows you to do so legally, stay and work legally. Otherwise study route, assuming you have plenty of money, might be best. Consider if you can study a post-grad course that qualifies as skill shortage category. That way you can stay more easily post-studies. Your wife can then pursue a health-care related course after that.
