@Op, how much will it cost to complete a 2-bedroom BQ in Ogun State? Foundation & German floor already done. 2 bedrooms, 1 parlor, 1 toilet & 1 kitchen. Being a BQ average finishing is fine, nothing elaborate. Thanks. |
Nice. |
Donald95:GEJ leaving, avoiding bloodshed and giving Nigerians the chance to compare two political parties may yet be thing to happen to our democracy since 1999. Now we can all make our minds up about which is better, either objectively or subjectively. We may never witness a peaceful change of power from one party to another for a long time. OBJ had the chance to shelve transition to democracy when Murtala Mohammed died in 1976. But he continued with it, handing over to Shagari in 1979. The biggest political achievement of his life. GEJ may come to be seen in a similar way decades from now. |
naijapips04:I have never understood that. Each time he travels. Shaking hands with Amaechi at the tarmac, I thought they were meant to be signing MOUs with Chinese businessmen & officials. It seems to be more of Nigeria & Nigerians in China. I hope those governors are not there to accumulate more foreign debt o. ![]() |
lilmax:Easy. Nigerians are not as smart as they think. The assumption that we're very smart prevent us from realizing that we are not. Which smart country where life expectancy is about 52 years allows the corridors of power to be controlled 80% by retirement age politicians? Which smart country will not get its smartest, brightest and best educated people into power? Look at the way we bastardize everything. Until we sit down and smell the coffee, countries we previously looked down upon will soon start rejecting Nigerians. Like Rwanda, Ethiopia, etc. Only a matter of time. |
bankyblue:The ones that bury human heads inside church or the alfas doing money rituals, which of them do you mean to come together? |
We accept mediocrity too much. We ascribe everything to fate. Nobody cares if the construction was shoddy. Flying on aeroplane has become much safer today because accident investigators across developed countries investigate every incident and near misses alongside the aircraft maker to remedy the shortcomings. Left to us Africans planes will be falling from the sky daily to a chorus of "God gives and God takes" each time. |
Standardcosting:China will not allow that nonsense. They have worked hard to be where they are now and gain respect across the world. You think they make Lenovo, Infinix, Tecno, industrial machines and everything else through miracle and prayers? They'll never throw all that away to become just another beggar country. |
This Uber girl again? Who she wan accuse of rape this time? Thank God we know Omosexy is as straight as they come. |
OK. Let them install CCTV camera in every bedroom first. |
Taofeekdboy:Good question and I will answer honestly. Every society WILL have residual amount of criminals no matter how advanced. Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland are examples of very developed countries with low crime rates but there is still crime. USA is a rich country with a high level economic/social inequality than say Denmark and USA has a higher level of crime, including homicide. Same applies to Nigerians who find themselves in diaspora. I mentioned earlier that immigrant populations often find themselves at the bottom of the pile in their host countries. At least in the first few years and some for decades. Every society pays for social inequality/economic injustice of it's residents/citizens. No escaping it. A very tiny percentage will commit crime out of greed, ignorance of how effective law enforcement is (feeling too clever/cocky and can get away with it), mental health issues or just habit of reaping where they didn't sow, trying to make it quick and come and oppress in Nigeria, getting into the wrong crowd, etc. These are not excuses or justification but some of the reasons. Again see the emphasis on the tiny percentage. You need to know how many countries react to foreigners committing crime. Most societies are already biased against foreigners a few foreigners committing crime feeds into that bias and it is gleefully sensationalised in the media. Take UK for example, how often do you read in Western media about Nigerian kids doing great things, getting into top schools and doing the most competitive courses more than other black ethnic groups? Or how many professionals in various fields excel and being a great asset to UK? Or doing great in sport? If and when you hear, their Nigerian heritage is never mentioned. But I am sure you read or heard about Adebolaja, the terrorist being quickly called Nigerian. He was born, bred, indoctrinated and became a terrorist in UK. Had he won an Olympic gold for UK, he'd have British pure and simple. Now, I cannot blame any host country for being outraged over crimes by foreigners, because one should be aware that immediately you step into a new country, you become an ambassador of your country. Even if just 1% commit crime, that will be exaggerated and highlighted way ABOVE the 99% who go lawfully about their lives daily. I mentioned mentioned mental health in crime earlier. At least a project involving health of prisoners, done in a major maximum security prison many years ago, mental health & drug abuse (before committing their crimes) were very common. Poor education was another. In fact a large number had no complete secondary education. Broken homes and domestic violence in childhood was alarmingly common. This was for the general prison population including white, black, Asian, Arab and others together. Again societies pays the price for social inequality. If you are among those who pick up the pieces in healthcare, law enforcement, social work or justice system, you will face it daily. |
Solidkay:The school that guy went to needs to be probed. They did a very bad job. Unless he too has no WAEC certificate. ![]() Jesus died that people may be liberated from all those uncleanliness stuff among others. For born again Christians, those ancient Mosaic taboos became obsolete upon death & resurrection of Christ. |
Taofeekdboy:Nobody supports illegality. Kidnapper Evans & all the criminals in Nigeria, did govt recruit them to commit crimes? You cannot separate poverty from crime and that applies to virtually all societies. Poverty is no justification, but it is what it is. Many are pushed to travel, out of desperation and or ignorance. I everybody I knew who travelled before roughly 1988, certainly before 1985 did so legally. Mostly to study. Because prospects back home were better.New immigrant populations also face higher poverty in their host countries. If you were alive when the Naira was higher than, equal to or close to the dollar in value and unemployment low, you will know crime was much less. That is why Oyenusi and later Anini made headlines. Bank robbers that operated in Offa, Lekki and Festac Town alone have done worse than Oyenusi & Anini put together, yet they are just regular stuff now, be it in Ekiti, Ondo, Ijebu-Ode or across many states. It is the govt's job to grow the economy, reduce poverty and work towards a better living standard for all. Saying govt providing amenities and reducing joblessness won't help is just justifying incompetence and abdicating responsibility. All societies that did those good things and built strong institutions are now developed countries. With better ways to detect crimes and jail offenders. That is itself a deterrent in those societies. Let the govt fulfil their social contract first, then we can compare later if Nigerians are happier than they are now. |
Ihateyoumod:You certainly do not know how Western countries fight for their citizens accused or jailed abroad. They give them full consular support. Nothing to do with supporting criminality. It's the rights of citizens to get such help. Anyway Nigeria has no concept of citizenship beyond international passport (that Chadians and Nigeriens get easily anyway) and NYSC. Western countries gradually made arriving illegally in a country a crime. It wasn't just 15 years ago in most Western countries. Tagging it a crime just to give them more power to deal with them mercilessly. Pity the West do not learn from their own past when it suits them. All manners of ugly words were used to describe Germans arriving in USA less 170 years ago. Even after WW2. |
Buhari doesn't know that there's much poverty in the land. After failing to make a living the normal way, many want to escape it anyhow they can. Through yahoo plus, regular 419, thuggery, entering politics, sudden pastor work, kidnapping, armed robbery, travelling abroad, etc. Many are graduates with NO jobs. He needs to at least recognise the need to protect his citizens caught in difficulties abroad. Merkel would do that for her citizens anywhere in the world. |
If Daddy Freeze talks now, messenger "crucifiers" will come for him. |
And yet the North oppose a proper Regional system. With regions each can decide on official languages. Without compulsion from the centre. |
Lol. APC that came to power with Buhari wearing the Toga of incorruptibility. Actually the den of thieves, killers and ex-cons. Hilarious. ![]() |
DeRay98:Lol. When you hate you really hate. Which condition was Kwara Healthcare in in the military era? And after he left? Which control over health ministry has Saraki under Buhari? A govt under which ministers and FG appointees flout NASS invitation to be held to account, impunity encouraged by Buhari who controls MDAs? The real pain is that he played the politics better and more cunningly than those who hitherto were forming political James Bond. ![]() At least you admit that he ran businesses before politics. Which was the real point. That he did other things before politics. He's educated and can show his WAEC certificate, has his MBBS and did not forge NYSC discharge certificate. ![]() Which state made much progress? Fashola clearing Oshodi and a few other stuff that left Lagos in so much debt (Oh Lagos is rich, it's a Country within a country, Eko oni baje as our typically mouthed SW people say ) but still consistently ranks as one of the worst liveable cities in the world. So long as Tinubu has Lagos as his empire to milk, all is well. Never seen a place where people claim to be sophisticated and educated but still have such herd mentality. The problem you lot have is this: my rogue is the good rogue. Others are bad rogues. Pathetic. |

If true as narrated, shame on that church. Nothing Christlike in them. To treat teenagers enjoying a game of football like that. Anyway, it is money making business for them. An off-duty police officer harassing innocent teenagers over a ball. Kids possibly of her own kid's age. Police is very odious in all ramifications in 9ja, the worst public institution by a country mile. Being in the police seems to bring out the monster in them these days. Autopsy must be urgently done. But wait o, is there no special government department that investigates sudden/unexplained deaths in police custody? If not it is really a zoo as some people say. |
coleon:Saraki did well as a medical practitioner previously. Before business and then politics. Ngige, Uduaghan and Odili were successful doctors too. Not all who did well in business or professional careers eventually deliver as politicians. You just have to have the desire to leave a legacy behind and be passionate about it. |
Nearly moved to well up here. , "For I was in prison and you came to visit me" said Jesus. We need to again begin to see life in a basic way of humanity. We are taking money away from this world. |
For 9ja? Hehehehe. Here on NL they will say call them if you are serious. To reply questions Na lie. They think they are doing you a great favour. Forget matter. Maybe just one percent will heed. |
Ok. |
Bleiz:Na to wish happy madding! ![]() Like play like play, they will vote a person in comma or someone who has been declared missing or kidnapped into the presidency one day. Everything is possible in 9ja. ![]() |
No swag at all. I cannot see anyone under 45 there. |
If Liberia brings a new law to ban Nigerian MDs in local branches of banks now, we will say they are ungrateful despite our efforts to end their civil war. You carry tyranny to another man's country. Do not be surprised if the fight is over a hot girl in that bank. ![]() |
Merimental: ![]() Maybe they think France & Croatia didn't get any, just 9ja. ![]() |
MissJoy29:The lady you quoted sums up the attitude of medical and other clinical personnel in Nigeria. A Victorian age attitude. However I met a young lady doctor once when taken ill in Nigeria. She was great. But then she knew her MD was a family friend of more than 20 years. Plus she knew who she was treating. ![]() The MD is also one of the older generation doctors that really take their time to illustrate disease/treatment using diagrams. Being trained in old-style Christian hospitals back then. It makes one thankful for medical education in the West. Empathy is now a big aspect of medical care. Listening skills are taught big time in communicating with patients from day one in med school. Regarding an ENT surgeon becoming "jack of all trade" in private practice, granted, an ENT guy could have been a vascular surgeon, a general surgeon, Obs/Gynae or whatever and later retrained/specialized in ENT. That said, it's still worrying to see that happen in so many private hospitals knowing that they treat conditions in which they are not specialist. That is where MoH has failed and NMA and GMDC have put self-interest above public safety/interest. By not in tandem with Ministry of Health making such practice impossible. I know of an Orthopedist who has done only knee & hip replacement only for over 25 years. He won't even do the relatively easy Dupuytren's contracture op. His expertise in Hip & knee became excellent in deed. Sure as the lady pointed out, hospitals are busy and resources grossly inadequate. Doctors are stretching available resources, with attendant frustration. But that's not the only reason. For many in Nigeria, medicine is about prestige. Many are pressurized by parents into medicine. To be called Iya Dokita, Nma Dokita or Papa Dokita. For others it's a profession with better job prospects than most. It is not a calling for many. No matter how brilliant one is, doing a job that is not one's calling, you can never do it with much joy. That inner discontent is transferred on to patients. The other is training. Emphasis is still only the academic and less on wholistic approach. Touted and mouthed but not properly done. The other factor is we live in a harsh country. Like many third world countries. The general unfriendly attitude cannot just be stripped off outside the hospital gate. It's part of people. Interestingly Nigerian doctors who relocate abroad adapt to their new medical environment/culture very well. So we can do better. But not there yet. |
chiommy123:She has proven she's not a lady you can succeed financially with. Na chop & quench. If she's so posh she would volunteer to pay. I guess she didn't. If the guy dumps he ass now, we will be hearing "men are scum". |
