Munzy14:Are you a kid? Okocha was about 20 in 1994 when he won Nations Cup. He was in the team that was seconds away from eliminating Italy in USA'94. Second round in France 1998, performance there earned him a move to PSG where he mentored Ronaldinho. Then Nations Cup final loss to Cameroon in 2000, with Ikpeba clear penalty shoot-out crossed the line but not given. Japan/Korea 2002 was a bad tournament for 9ja with Sweden & England in top form then. We even had to use 17 years old Opabumi to mark David Beckham & Paul Scholes against England. It was a transition time for Eagles. BUT Okocha still showed his class. We have not even mentioned how he tormented Brazil & Argentina in Atlanta'96 Olympics. |
Olalan:What do you expect a typical air-head woman after the money? What does she know about football? You wonder where some of these players pick their imp women from. Her hubby will never have the skills, the status or achievements of JJ Okocha in world football. JJ analysis is even very mild. Defenders are meant to defend. If they cannot do their job, they should expect it to be mentioned. |
I mentioned days ago that the job of APC chairman is very difficult. Oshio thinks focusing on those outside the party will stop their internal crisis. It won't. Rubbish a SW big gun, and SW will soon let him know that tribe is the most important to SW. The way they ganged up on Oyegun will be nothing compared to yours. Buhari agreed to sacrifice Oyegun to please Tinubu and SW ahead of 2019 election. Oshiomhole needs to tread carefully at least until after election 2019. |
Organism000:So what happens to kids from broken families? Do kids also have the blueprint to just take it in their stride? How many people can afford to or willing to take care of kids they had with a partner they have already broken up with? Shouldn't people be responsible and be careful about having kids with someone they are not sure of coping with? First thing what is even love in a society like Nigeria? Can we equate romantic love in USA or Sweden with what obtains in Nigeria? Even in those Western societies with a longer history of romantic love leading to marriage, divorce rate is around 50%. So it ain't working brilliantly either. Marriages worked better across the world when it was based of responsibility/role play than when romance took over. In Europe, husbands chose a wife based on dowry the bride's father will give him. In parts of Asia too. In Africa, the bride's father received a bride-price instead, varying in value according to local culture/ethnic group. We could argue that maybe most marriages weren't happy back then. But they had a cohesive society. Now that we have the choice to marry whoever we "love" and can walk away if unhappy, divorce rate is through the roof. Baby mama/papa system is an inherently less stable relationship as both families of man & woman are not necessarily involved in the agreement, if at all there is one. Surely culture and society evolves and we must accept and cope with new realities. Including kids out of wedlock. Sadly our society is ill-prepared to pick up the pieces, something even developed societies are struggling with. So how do we cope? Without the network support of extended family. First is to reduce number of kids we have, whether within or without wedlock. Kids are not a trophy. Have kids if you're REALLY ready for it. Our politicians are not ready to help, so no need talking to them. |
Very unsettling. This happened in France 1998 too. I'm not sure if it was agreed then, because some of the footballers came down to greet fans. Indiscipline was a big issue that year and we lost the first knock out game against Denmark, after beating Spain in qualifying round. I hope this doesn't cost Super Eagles. |
Lol. Taking on a thankless Job. |
baby124:Actually two Nigerians and three Ghanaians in total. |
People do kidnapping & other crimes to start various businesses like haulage, real estate, hotels, car dealership and so on. Why should church be any different? With church business you even get respectability and choices of sumptuous babes. You can even legally do daylight robbery of brethren. ![]() |
Ovamboland:My brother I wonder o. 9ja is a pure jungle. And a whole judge sat down to preside? So if my business is not progressing, and I suspect a neighbour to be an envious witch, can I drag him or her before the said judge's court according to our laws? To spice the thing up, they just added Benin. So in the whole of Delta, there is no coven, assuming witchcraft as portrayed in Nollywood exists? ![]() From the woman's look, you can tell she suffers from some mental issues. We're still very primitive in 9ja. |
Whatever anybody's profession is, one should know that his/her relationship/marriage has to be adequately nurtured. Any occupation that seriously makes you neglect could also make you neglect your kids, should you have some. A full-time writer would have most of the day to do his/her writing. Having no time for loved ones becomes unhealthy. Yes, writing is time consuming and days can go by without any inspiration. One can be inspired to write at odd hours. But everything should be in moderation. |
Sijo01:Lol. Everything and everybody dey vex for 9ja. Maybe his ingredients just like keeping malice with water. ![]() |
oyinbo & wayo |
Good thread. |
nextstep:A lot of people know little about world geography. Germany that has seaports and coastal areas and islands. How can it be landlocked? From Bremerhaven to Hamburg. Islands like Ruegen/Rugia and Stralsund in Pomerania. |
I do not think being almost fully built up is a great thing in today's world. It means less room for future, expansion, more pollution, less green space, little or no nature reserve, more likelihood of slums, transportation challenges, flooding after rains, etc. Only in Africa we misconstrue concrete, traffic horror ad large populations in small spaces as evidence of being top dog. Developed nations are seeking how to de-congest and create "green lungs" within cities, like Fashola tried a bit with some small green parks in Lagos. |
Lol. Most made their "name" and got prominent via PDP. A prostitute can easily make such a mistake. Shows how superficial APC is. |
seguno2:It was a critical point in our democratic history. Because after truncation of democracy in January 1966, we finally got it back in 1979. Between 1966 & 1979 was so much bloodshed, up to 3 million dead during civil war. A country that went through such trauma ought to know the value of a fresh democratic start of 1979. It was a time events leading to the end of cold war was gradually starting under Reagan. We needed to position ourselves as a democratic bastion in Africa, to garner much credibility as South Africa was still mired in Apartheid. Our incessant silly coups also somehow favoured Apartheid views that black people cannot be trusted to peacefully and progressively rule themselves. After all Nigeria with so much human and natural resources could not. I had the pleasure of being Archbishop Dr Desmond Tutu's student many years back. Some of these issues were covered. He was travelling across the world campaigning against Apartheid during those days, even winning Nobel Peace Prize in 1984. He encountered all these discussions in his travels. People across the world discuss and assess what we do locally. Influencing their foreign policies. |
seguno2:Well, we live in a cash and carry society. Money is king. Too many coups, especially that of 1983 did not give our economy the chance to grow steadily and organically increase the middle class population before the advent of digital age. We are bombarded now with imports from China and online purchases etc. So we have lots more things to buy and consume/flaunt but little money to afford them. Whoever now has money, irrespective of social class can suddenly "form" rich and successful. No matter the source: politics, yahoo, yahoo plus, corruption at work, kidnapping & robbery (as long as not caught), high class olosho, money ritual, religion, etc. Nobody cares. Just have your money. So morality is long out of the window. |
Lawalatm:Like American football players. Nor come use laugh "wunjure" pesin here jor. Chai! What a thug party. ![]() |
Arondizuogu:And they speak French in Abakiliki-Ogoja axis these days? Abeg nor come turn Lai Mo to learner here o. |
If we could find out how many fakes masquerade as foreign experts in 9ja, we would be shocked. Foreigners know our lax and corrupt system is very easy to beat with a Caucasian skin. This news will never make it to CNN, BBC or Al-Jazeera. But just imagine a Nigeria caught this way in Isreal, Europe or America, it could cast massive doubts on many other Nigerians practicing legally there. |
Too much anger and frustration in the land. it brings out the animalistic side of people. Not by force, if you cannot tolerate the kid, send him back to his parents. |
Deltayankeeboi:We still have to show empathy first, no matter who has suffered such a terrible loss. BUT it should not deter the authorities from investigating the matter or the general public from wanting to know what happened. It should be no respecter of persons. Yes we humans are a set of hypocrites to the core. We worship money/wealth and fame. Yet we often cannot even empathize with our neighbours, extended families or colleagues as we do towards "celebs". One thing I do not understand about Nigerian law is that at times if someone is murdered or his death is otherwise caused by another person, the police will require the family of the deceased to press charges for murder, manslaughter, etc. Should charges not be automatically brought if the police & prosecution service/DPP believe they have enough evidence to try the suspect? This happened to a friend whose relative was suddenly hit in the head & killed during a fight/an argument just months back. In this case that the child had an accident in the family home, who will press for investigation? Investigation is not primarily to punish the parents, but it's in public interest and to create awareness about health & safety at home, in the workplace, leisure venues, etc. |
So much about sophisticated and respectful omoluabi. |
ifymadu:Bikonu, make una forgive that Mr STUDENTS. ![]() He's being roasted left, right & centre for his oversabi. Let's assume he was only joking. Lol. |
Chai! OBJ you see your life. You led PDP for a decade plus. Installed whoever you wanted in positions. You dealt mercilessly with Okadigbo, Audu Ogbe, Ghali Na'Abba and others who dared to stand in your way or criticize you. Instead of strengthening democracy, you wanted puppets around you. You were not even a founding member of PDP. But you hijacked the party and rendered the founders irrelevant using money, intimidation & executive power. After leaving power, you still wanted full control by proxy. When GEJ and others refused you decided to tear your card. You did so because you did not nurture the party. It was always just a tool for you to use. If you couldn't not use it to your whims and caprices, then it must be destroyed. But Nigerians weren't wise like King Solomon to spare the baby. They fell for it. Now Tinubu ridicules you as politically homeless after helping them gain power. A traitor will always get a taste of his own medicine. If you can work so hard to destroy a party that gave you good 8 years of presidency, why should any other party trust you? Shame!. ![]() |
safarigirl:Well, we not yet know what happened. But in Africa being rich/famous and able to acquire the good tings of life often doesn't mean they are aware of safety measures. Questions need to be asked: In whose care was the baby? Was the pool secure, as in fenced round with metal barriers without holes big enough for a child to go through? How otherwise accessible is it to kids/pets from the main house? Anyone trained in first aid always around? Did they consider safety when designing the house? A few years ago, the grandson of late Morgan Tsvangirai visiting from Canada drowned in a pool at his prime ministerial residence in Zimbabwe. |
Hawtbae:But my dear this is 9ja. Nothing will happen. Certainly not when you're wealthy. Unless they want to punish one "house girl" for it. Then someone may be charged. |
safarigirl:But in 9ja nothing will happen. We think it's medicine after death. Denying the kid justice and missing the chance to create awareness about how to avoid child neglect/negligence causing death. I have only ever contemplated a VERY shallow pool, below knee length. But the guy doing it on NL here was reluctant, only quoting for deep pools. Possibly ones that will fetch him far more money. I opted for a simple inflatable pool instead. Saving LOTS of hard earned money and be in control too. RIP to the little angel. |
modaink333:More like golden basket with his team after Super Eagles are done with them. ![]() |
Just in case some people did not know, the West is all about your money. All the other talk of human right and charity is to look good. Have enough money and you are good to go. Dem nor send. |
