kestolove95:Now Listen in case you were not born yet then. Every body who was not "deaf & dumb" knew Buhari wanted to overthrow on October 1st 1983 during swearing in Ceremony after re-election. Deaf & dumb here means having no insider knowledge of goings-on. It was a surprise when it didn't happen. Umaru Dikko and others were persuading Shagari to wear a bullet proof vest under his Agbada on inauguration day. Of course Buhari had a mole in the presidency who fed him everything back. I was in a home of a journalist and frequented by many journalists, so I heard their discussions clearly as a kid. And also the home of an investigation service personnel. What I learnt firsthand as a kid about Nigerian intrigues many may never learn life long. Not to mention the number of both serving and retired military officers we knew back then. Much earlier, on Shagari's visit to Jos/Plateau State, he told Chief Solomon Lar (Governor Of Plateau State then) about Buhari's coup plot. Of course as GOC in Jos Buhari went to see Shagari off at the airport. There Lar informed Buhari he'd visit him. But Buhari insisted he'd visit Lar in his office instead. On the visit Lar told Buhari of the coup rumours. Buhari swore that there was no such plot and asked to be dismissed from the army if not trusted. Buhari clearly expected to be arrested there and then. But he was let go. Reasons unknown till today. Even years earlier, Buhari didn't want OBJ to hand over to a civilian govt. Buhari hid behind more junior officers to tell OBJ. Just like he'd hide behind junior officers to carry out the coup years later. But Yar'Adua, Danjuma and others supported OBJ and opted to follow Murtala Mohammed's handover time-table of October first 1979. But OBJ had to act. He decided to deny Pa Awo the presidency (maybe to save his life and or democracy). According to the law that existed at election in 1979, if election was inconclusive but candidates' scores were very close, instead of a run-off election, the NASS will vote to choose the next president. Pa Awo already had the numbers in a deal at NASS. But OBJ decided to retrospectively change the decree to cover election already done and declare Shagari the winner. Why did OBJ not retire Buhari like he did Shehu Yar'Adua, Danjuma? Maybe he wasn't considered as having the leadership quality or ambitious enough to marshal officers for a coup. His ambition was basically underestimated often. But no doubt he was the leader, albeit Dongoyaro, Abacha, Shagaya, IBB & Bako (who died trying to arrest Shagari) being the face of it. BUT one person was not so naive: Umaru Dikko. He got Shagari to send Buhari to far away Jos, away from the important Ibadan, Lagos & Kaduna brigades. Dikko warned Shagari seriously about Buhari. But Fulanis hardly take action against each other. Dikko turned out to be right. When Buhari took over power, he decided to do everything to punish Dikko. because was so close to truncating his lifelong ambition to be head of state, a sense of entitlement common to Fulani officers. Including Buhari becoming Nigeria's first kidnap mastermind long before Billionaire kidnapper Evans! He kidnapped Dikko in London but was fuelled. Accusation of corruption was just convenient. Dikko was Shagari's campaign manager & head of rice taskforce but not more corrupt than any average 9ja politician. Now shall we ask how much of Rivers oil money Amaechi stole to buy delegates and fund Buhari's election as campaign manager? Then we can compare with Dikko. ![]() FYI: the normal thing is a coup leader meant to take over as C-in-C is kept in a safe distant location during the coup itself. For example during IBB coup to remove Buhari, IBB was safely in Minna during the actual coup. The late Maryam Banbagida would say in an interview decades later that as people still wondered if the coup had succeeded, an Air Force jet picked up IBB from Minna to Lagos. She thought that was the last time she'd see him. She thought he must have been implicated and has just been arrested. Only for her to hear "My Fellow Nigerians" broadcast on TV later that IBB was now the new Head of State! |
No biggie. The guy na part-time prisoner before. He just upgrade to full-timer. ![]() |
anigold:But how can oil & water mix? You do not have to be a chemist to know they can't. Everyone knows it. We're just in denial. Instead of those with tribal numerical advantage to press for true Regionalism, the powerful central power & oil wells & money dangling in front of their eyes won't let them. They only pay lip service to it. They feel so called minorities (in whose backyard the oil is) will benefit disproportionately. So envy & greed won't let them. If Regionalism existed and people are progressing at their own pace, with local laws, even including religious ones, passed at local level, people will want their region to succeed. Creating a healthy competition for regions. If jobs are created, crime fought, education & health, infrastructure are tackled locally, few will care about Abuja politics. Presidency will not become do or die affair. FG can focus on national defense, foreign policy, currency, federal crimes, immigration and other nationally relevant matters. So here we're. |
adorable29: Before nko? He might even be a smoker with lighter or matchbox in his pocket. ![]() At least someone is aware of the leakage. They might soon park in a safe place. I saw one like this in Lagos years back and nobody seemed to care that it was leaking. Efforts to alert the driver failed. But maybe he knew and still decided to carry to his destination. Our enemies could have all being roasted on that road that day. |
This is Nigeria........criminal negligence is everywhere. |
edupedia:Lol. SW believe they are the sophisticated & smart ones. That is why they cannot even tell when a cow herder, certificateless coup & quota system general is using them. The SW people who know and speak out are labelled "omale". You think Pa Awo that refused to do business with Balewa & Ahmadu Bello didn't know what he was doing? Sadly most SW people of today who ape "progressive" are just looking for crumbs from Northern table. Believing that if they do boy-boy and servant to the North long enough, the North might allow them rule. Yes, the North will ocassionally concede power under duress, but they will choose the SW person who will immediately hand over power back to them. Like OBJ. A man who never wants any other SW person to rise to the presidency. Not even Abiola. ![]() If you know, you know. If you do not know and you think your tribe gives you automatic authority over knowledge, wisdom & sophistication, you end up being "Mega-Olodo". A cunning man who dies in the backyard of a foolish man. A man who plants his mango tree along the main road. Warri guys know what I mean. ![]() |
Afonja did a very great job for Northern Caliphate. SW is far more divided than we know. Because most South West people have Muslim connections somewhere in the family, they are more easily used by the North. It happens in a coded way. The North get them to betray themselves using "historical & religious ties" that actually really means Fulani over-lordship. Funny enough SW people still believe it is Yoruba culture before religion/politics. That is the lie they want to believe & the North are exploiting it. ![]() |
First is this girl up to 18 years old and of legal working age? Was she vetted properly with verified reference/family contact of the girl? If the above are in the affirmative then she abused the family's trust and deserves punishment. If not the family has no case. Who doesn't know the danger of house help these days? The man should thank GOD. Because who knows if the actual reason for coming was to kidnap the one year child? |

Ngozi123:Tribalism is a big problem o. I cannot count how many articles I have come across from "an ex-Obasanjo wife" over the years. Yoruba each time. One was about the prophesy for her son not to marry at a particular time or not to even marry her at all. And how OBJ went ahead anyway without inviting her the mother. Although she attended anyway? With the way this woman disapproved of the marriage (rightly or wrongly) from the beginning, it was obvious she'd always be against the marriage or even trying scuttling it if possible. I have also read one from a Yoruba ex-wife of OBJ about how violent OBJ was even in early days of marriage. How she would listen in on OBJ talking on landline phone to his married lover woman. How OBJ would become violent towards her on realising she had been listening in. I have lost count. Whether it is the same Yoruba woman or various ones once married to OBJ I do not even know. The son who publicly accused OBJ of sleeping with his wife, was he raised by an Igbo woman too? I always felt ashamed for them each time I read them washing their VERY dirty linen publicly. We should please be fair. It's not all about tribe. |

The way SW will betray Amaechi, Iscariot will be a learner. And he will thoroughly deserve it. He has no direct access to Rivers oil money anymore like he did to buy delegates for Buhari in 2015. And he failed to plant a stooge as Rivers governor. He's also not needed to undermine GEJ anymore. He certainly cannot even deliver Rivers electorally for APC. He's basically dispensable now. ![]() |

Nedukkc:Ah! Argentina team is not useless o. This team is better than the one that won FIFA World Cup 1986 with Maradonna. Valdano was not better than Aguero, Burruchaga was not better than Di Maria, Oscar Ruggeri or Jose Luis Brown that even scored in the final was not better than Mascherano & Sergio Batista was not really better than Otamendi. But crucially they played to their strengths. Maradonna did not even score in the 1986 final against Germany though he played his heart out on the way to final. Many countries have improved greatly. Just being good is not good enough now. A team has to be compact, play as a team, be disciplined and play to both individual & team strengths. Intelligent game is what we have now. |
dontbothermuch:Well, normally you sit with your course mates as you file out to receive degree certs/awards. Remember that over many years in a foreign land, Africans would have needed to bond and form close friendships in a place like China. A place still getting used to black people. I do not think they were segregated intentionally but happens naturally in such "homogeneous" society. In any case they have achieved what they went for. Na to head home or elsewhere. Congrats to them. |
ASs community police, no biggie. Very good in fact. Police use bicycles in many countries. I just pray they do not inadvertently run into hardened armed robbers making a quick get-away. |
Burgerlomo:The guy showing his face is a helper. The one looking face down is the one who needs surgery. Better than obscuring/colouring over his face that may shift and reveal part of it. |
mofedamijo:Taraba is incredibly diverse with Mumuyes, Jukuns, Tivs, jenjos, Mambila, Jibana, Kutebs, Fulani, Hausa, Wurkums and many more I cannot even remember. You can be from North-West like Sokoto and know little about Taraba. Borno/Yobe and Adamawa are also fairly diverse states. We often do not know and see every Northerner as Hausa/Fulani. Even a fairly large tribe like Kanuri in Borno is ignored. Not many people even know that IBB is not Hausa but Gwari (Gbagyi). |
Horrible. Sad. RIP lady. Greatest reward in heaven. |
obi4eze:Kylian Efosa Osaze Mbappe you mean? At least he didn't have Yakubu Aiyegbeni as his childhood hero. Otherwise na to dey miss in front of open/gaping goal. ![]() |
cyndy1000:Kikikiki. Cindy, abeg nor come use lafta "wunjure" pesin jare. Wheelbarrow? Not even Raleigh lady bicycle. ![]() |
Chai!. Na wa o. |
Very sad. We have lost it already. |
They will soon accuse the lady of being still angry that PDP lost 2015 election. That she should move on. Without even knowing if she votes or supports any party all. Then call her IPOB despite her name and mode of dressing. That is default mode of zombies & BMC crew. Madam, that your talk will make sense in a decent country. Not in Nigeria. |
. |
Earthbound:. Others could be foreigners living in 9ja who are unable to claim any state of origin. |
zaragal:And what if he wanted to wipe the lady's VJ for ritual or mine her sex organs for ritual? Or He could have organised many huge sex-starved guys to take turns. Shouldn't a lady going to a man's house (presumably a house & area she's not familiar with) be more careful? By all accounts the lady took the far greater risk. Not supporting one-night stands by either gender. |
chrischukszy01: ![]() Chai! Hunger dey o. When hunger really bites. man/woman can do anything. ![]() |
Yellowdayzee:Like I said nobody is blind to anything. But you just mentioned why anything goes in 9ja. We just adapt. No matter how absurd or how much of an aberration it is. We accept it. Anything goes. Well I do not live in that environment anymore, so all those things sound strange and abnormal to me. |
You'd think these politicians are real "Anikulapo". But no. They can die too. Yet they create poverty and mayhem that endanger the life of everyone, including theirs. |
Ok, only storm? When will they tsunami the wedding? |
Actually London is the right place to protest. After all he talks more about Nigeria at Chatham House and stays in London more than in Nigeria. |
