English and French are of the same language family and their parent is latin
Wrong.

English is a Germanic language. From old German in fact. Like Swedish, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian.

Finnish on the other hand is a Finno-Ugric language like Hungarian, Estonian, Mordvins, Keralian, etc.

Ancestors of current English people came from Saxony (today called Sachsen regions of Germany..like Hannoner, Dresden, Leipzig, etc.) And Jutland, which is a Danish peninsula in the North Sea.

They invaded Britain after the Romans left just before middle of 5th century AD.

French is of Romance language family like Italian, Portuguese, Spanish/Catalan, Romanian & Romansh (a Swiss language).

Not surprising.
English is actually at least 30% French.
Most French words entered English through the Norman (old French) invasion of England. If the French mainlanders hadn't invaded England, You and I in Nigeria would have probably sounded more like those cranky Germans and guttural Dutch people today.
Very true. Many people don't know that English is a Germanic language like all Scandinavian languages except Finnish. Other related languages are German and Dutch/Flemish.

French was official language of England for about 300 years, like civil servants in 9ja must know English now, English civil servants must know French back then.

Until the French Revolution, French was basically a Royal Court language in England and aspiring royal ladies-in-waiting had to do apprenticeship in the French Royal Court or a French ducal court to have any chance. French was also the international language of diplomacy and high culture.

Several Royal mottos in England remain in French. Dieu et mon droit (Royal Court of Justice), Honi soit qui mal y pense (Royal order of the Garter/UK's highest order of chilvary & World's oldest still existing knighthood) since 1348.

Lots of latin-origin words in English words came via French.

Very funny when you hear some Nigerians pronounce French words in English. Many French words used in English are not anglicised, that is, they remain pronounced as in France. cheesy

I am not saying she should rush o, but if my broke, ugly, illiterate neighbour Iya Ronke could find a husband and marry with 7 children, Genevieve with all her beauty, fame, money and success has no excuse anymore.

MadCow..
She has a daughter already. It's not like she needs Papa Agbonma to bring chop money in. She can date men ruling the land and get rewarded handsomely.

Most 9ja marriages are economic. The ones based on so-called love don't often last.

Those our grand dad /grand ma marriages that lated 65 to 70 years, were all arrangee ones. Each person played his/her role nicely. cheesy

Yes we do. For several reasons (1) Poverty (2) Materialism & greed/need to show off (3) Massive decline in traditional values. Etc, etc.

It extends to cultism, money rituals, doing anything for money, crime. No gender is left out.

I think you are referring to lovepeddlers here..

my post is not about love peddlers am talking about your average girl out there
My dear, the word lovepeddler is misused now.

A man going to lovepeddler probably knows the price and most won't complain after service is rendered.

A girl who dates several men for economic gain (like most 9ja women are now rated most unfaithful in research), is exactly what?

I have more female friends than male friends. And I know what they get up to. They even bring the matter with their several men to me for advise.
No, these are not illiterate women eking out a living in Mushin/Agege. These are well-educated, mostly employed women, from "good homes".

You advise them against such, but over the years, I have learnt that 99% of girls do what you advised them against.

Even God almighty didn't get Eve to take his advise, let alone a mere mortal like me. grin cheesy

Get this in bro, most girls interpret sex as a commitment
as long as you both had sex, there sure is a relationship, they don't need telling undecided why? because they are emotional beings who attach their emotions to sex unless there have been an initial arrangement eg FWB which she is very much aware of.
But guys like you have random sex and expect things to be normal.
More like commitment at ATM level. One of several ATMs. grin cheesy

All that na long ago, na today?

A decent girl is just a decent girl. And there are few and far between now. Men know that very well.

Most girls have become like a commodity. You have one if you can financially afford it, several if you can.

When most girls stop putting price on sex, or just refuse sex and equally make no financial demand/have no expectation of money, then men will again value them more. Just self-respect.

But for now, he who pays the piper dictates the tune.

Bitter truth, so unpalatable that most girls prefer not to hear it.

1. The Governor himself asked that this be publicised
2. Someone present made the publicity
3. Or someone is just desperate to post something on Nairaland.

Is this worthy to be on the News? I'm not saying the act by the governor was bad but ..... N700, 000 from a state governor wasn't worth being on the News.
My questions are:

Are the two patients legal residents in his state? If yes, is it not a governor's job to provide healthcare? Is there no ministry of health funded for that purpose?

I wonder why Nigerians hail people doing their job, with so much privilege and money that come with it.

inplay:
sir would you be kind enough as to explain this scripture? I quote "it is appointed unto man once to die and after this is judgement"

thank you.
Well, billions of people have died since the world began. They all wait in "Sheol". The word "Sheol" (Hebrew) was thought synonymous with Greek "Hades". Perhaps the ambiguity of Greek "Hades" in Greek mythology (if you have read some, you will see my point) probably made the translators from Hebrew to Greek to mostly retain the original Hebrew "sheol" in the Greek Bible. But still, Hades is still mentioned 11 times in the Bible. In the New Testament. Once used to mean grave and 10 times to mean hell.

Remember that the Hebrew Bible was first translated into Greek in 200 BC. In Africa by the way. Alexandria to be precise. A foremost place of scholarship/university back then.

Sheol is mentioned in the Bible 65 times. It is used to mean hell exactly 31 times, grave 31 times and pit/abyss 3 times.

Now that Bible writers/translators use sheol to mean grave and hell equal number of times, how do you know for sure that some people are in hell now?

Well, some claim that "Gehenna" explains it better. Remember Gehenna, that valley outside Jerusalem where some Jews sacrificed their children to idols? See Lev. 18:12, 1Kings.11:5. It became a refuse dump that was always on fire to burn the waste produced by people of Jerusalem. This symbolically represents the initial place of torment before judgement. For those whose souls are already lost. The Lake of Fire will be final place.

Having discussed this matter with experts in eschatology, I find it hard to believe that there is currently hell fire for dead sinners.
After judgement, then yes.

Hell and lake of fire are two different places.

People who dies as unbelievers are in hell right now while those who dies as believers are enjoying in heaven as i write...

But in the last judgment, hell will be thrown into the lake of fire which is the final place for unbelievers.

"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death"Revelation 20:14

This is a clarion call to everyone reading this..I don't care how hot and sexy you may be as a lady, i don't care how classy and rich you may be. No matter how highly placed you are or how powerful you may be..As long as you came to this world..you must leave someday and you must chose one of these places...HEAVEN or HELL.

Now is the chance you have to choose...no one guarantees that you wil see tomorrow and the best insurance you can give yourself is to secure your soul by accepting Jesus as lord and Saviour.

What shall it profit you to have all the money you desire, the golds and diamonds of this world and to lose the most important thing to you..YOUR SOUL..

Be wise and don't ever be caught dead without accepting Jesus as lord and Saviour.PLEASE DON'T
I have discussed these stuff extensively with a late eminent eschatologist. In fact an Oxford University educated pastor & professor of Systematic Theology. An eminent professor/Chief Rabbi (leader of Jewish clerics), among others.

There is no evidence that the Book of Revelation is literally as it is. It is full of massive symbolism.

Of course I am aware a lot us 9ja people see things through a narrow prism.

What you are about to read will change your life forever.

After reading this, you will be filled with indescribable peace that surpasses all human understanding because you will know for sure that you no longer have business with hell but guaranteed a place in paradise.

Some may call it heresy but that is exactly what the devil wants you to believe it is whereas it is the greatest truth GOD wants the world to know and the devil never ever wants the world to know. This is why 99% of pastors will never preach it but would rather preach the need to live a sinless life and in-fact will give us a picture of perfection in acts and thoughts as the only criteria to making heaven.

Read on:

1. Do you know that in the past before Jesus came to pay the permanent price, the Israelis which were a symbolic representation of GOD's people were commanded by GOD to make animal sacrifice for atonement of their sins?

This means whenever they fall into sins or commit sinful acts, once they sacrifice the animal, all these sins are automatically wiped off by GOD.Yes there is a sacrifice for the atonement of all sins and that's done on the Day of Atonement by the High Priest. Interestingly enough, it is a goat and not a lamb that takes the sin of all Israel out of the borders of Israel.(Leviticus 16)

2.The crucifixion of Christ on the wooden cross is a one time symbolic representation of the Animal sin offering on the wooden platform of old meaning it has taken away the sins of yesterday, today and tomorrow once and for all:

Unlike the repeated sacrifices made in the past for the cleansing of sins each year or anytime they sin,the death and resurrection of Christ has cleansed us from the sins of the past, present and that of the future.

Because the blood of bulls and rams can not take away the sins of the world.GOD sent a human lamb to take away the sins of the world. This means as long as you have accepted Christ as lord and Saviour,if you fall into sin,all you ned is to go on your kneels and ask for forgiveness Which can be likened to making animal offering to atone for any sin you commit.(Hebrews 10:4)

3. No matter how hard you try, As human beings, it is impossible to be sinless and GOD knows this.

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.(1 John 2:1)

4.Many people in hell fire today have no business been there but because they gave up their salvation making conclusions that they are no good for GOD's kingdom
.

Giving your life to Christ and living a righteous life sometimes do not come automatically. It takes the work of the Holy spirit to perfect your salvation whereas accepting Jesus as lord as Saviour is a decision.

When i was young i usually get mocked when i do somethings that are not expected of a "Born again" Christian and i would have easily given up way back. This is the case of many people burning in hell today..they voluntarily gave up their salvation because they found themselves doing those things they use to do before they accepted Christ but if only they knew that all they need to do is to fight on and ask the holy spirit to perfect their salvation, they would have been made a better believer by the help of the holy spirit.

The bible says its not by power or by might but by my spirit says the lord.(Zechariah 4:6)

5. Most of the Bible heroes were not righteous by human standard.

The Bible does not attempt to conceal the foibles of the great people that adorn its pages. Abraham, Isaac, Moses, David, etc., were normal human beings. They sinned like all other offspring of Adam who have matured to a level of personal accountability (Romans 3:10, 23). Jesus Christ was the only exception (Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:22).

6. Anytime you sin, simply go on your kneels and ask GOD to forgive you in the name of JESUS(A symbol of animal sacrifice Israelis make each time they sin against GOD and you will be automatically forgiven)

This is so interesting yet very mysterious for many people to comprehend that the grace of Christ covers any sin we commit and we can always ask for forgiveness whenever we sin and the sins will be forgiven.

"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God" (Romans 5)

7.GOD never condemns you except you condemn yourself.

Stop condemning yourself friend, 99.9% of believers will battle with one sinful habit or the other till they die.Its about trusting Jesus to forgive them each time they fall into this sinful act but the first step is to accept him as your lord and savior then ask the holy spirit to help you overcome these sinful habits and try your best to allow him.

8.A true believer does not enjoy sinful acts neither plans for it or looks forward to sinning.

Paul asks "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase?Absolutely not ! How can we who died to sin still live in it?Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life.(Romans 6:1-4)

He also said “if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins”(Hebrews 10:26)

CONCLUSION: The grace of GOD is not for us to enjoy sinning and continuously ask for forgiveness but its for us to live above the power of sins in our lives.

But if everyone alive today gives their lives to Jesus and hold on to their salvation no matter how hard they struggle with sins. Heaven will be a home for all.

Hope this helps
You tried. Except that nobody is burning in hell or flexing in heaven now. Even Enoch, Elijah & Moses who did not "die" like others but taken up, are NOT in heaven. Jesus said as much in John 3:13. Judgement day has not come. I don't know where people got this misconception from.
After death, you wait for judgement. When Jesus comes again. Please read your Bible carefully. Let the Holy Spirit guide you.
