Show of ignorance and bigotry. Her tribe is there if only you can read.

Any how, tribe is irrelevant. Misguided kids of rich people have been doing it. Has happened even abroad.

One should only ask why an apparently comfortable girl would do such.

As far as I am concerned, the father should bury the case instead of putting it all on the boyfriend's head, as it is likely to be now.

One should not fail to instil sound moral values in kids, while pursuing money and career.

Many traditions have not been fair to the women. The men are free to cheat but the women can't because they are robots abi? Such tradition was created by a selfish man.

On the contrary, I heard that a tradition in Edo state is doing the opposite. A woman cheats and the husband dies grin
Well, true. It can also kill her like during labour. It can kill her kids too. It's a general taboo that can affect any immediate family member.
It's partcularly dangerous to the man if he knows or hears rumours but refuses to tell the ancestral family nd perform atonement/cleasing rites.

Why Mynd and co here look at it from 21st century and Western perspective, it wasn't so in most cultures worldwide.

Lots of men died prematurely those days: war, hard life and so on. Men needed to marry many wives to ensure social cohesion. Rich men who could cater for many women particularly needed to marry many wives. Even now, many educated young ladies still marry already married men if they're rich enough.

One such cheating lady just recently confessed. Her hubby living abroad, visits every 3 to 4 months fell ill. Was in hospital abroad for almost a year. European docs couldn't diagnose the illness. Was at point of death. She confessed and atonement made. He's fine now.

I'm not superstitious and I seek clinical reasons for illness routinely. But I too had to give up on this.

I never said that their economy grew at astronomical rate. Read through my earlier posts once again. The truth is their economy is improving and no one can deny this fact.

One more thing I need you to please do for me, kindly confirm from your friends who are from Ghana if their govt provides automatic employment for doctors, nurses and pharmacists or not.

Their educational system is by far better than ours. Go to the north and see teachers using the Hausa language to teach pupils in schools. Some teachers all over the country can not even construct correct sentences. Then what do we expect them to teach the children? Visit Ghana, even the little child hawking plantain on the street speaks good English.

I was in Kenya recently and throughout the stay, I never saw one generator working. Electricity is stable. Their economy for now relies mainly on the export of exotic flowers to Europe and tourism. And the currency is higher than ours.

Accept it or not, Nigeria still has a very long way to go. We are only answering the giant of Africa for nothing. Let's hope that this govt and subsequent ones to come will put in policies to curb corruption and revive the agricultural sector which is a gold mine waiting to be explored. Let's call a spade what it truly is.
Well, there's no gainsaying that we have seriously underachieved as a nation. But that's rooted in the diversity and unwieldiness of Nigeria as a nation.
Large ethno-religiously diverse nations are hard to govern and take forward. They lack social cohesion, common goals and a shared sense of nationhood/citizenship.

Almost all Ghanaians speak or at least understand Twi. That can't be said of 9ja.
Without looking at the very faulty foundations of 9ja, you may not know why we cannot achieve much. But it should be obvious really.

Even in the West, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland are all small prosperous countries. They do not have all the great social divides and deprivation that exist in say USA or UK. Because they are small, cohesive and more manageable.

Self-loathing won't take us anywhere. We should be rather profering possible solutions. Like true federalism.

I know many Ghanians and many are quietly (in usual Ghanian style) lamenting that things are getting worse. Especially over the past few years. That maybe subjective but they also have their problems, commeasurate with size of country and resources.

A Ghana of 180m to 200m people like 9ja might not be better off than we are now.

We should not use that as a balm on our egos or tolerate mediocrity, but we are not getting many things right in many developing countries.

Well, I'm old enough to remember times when there was hardly power outage, boreholes were almost unknown and water flowed from waterboard taps like it is in Kenya now. So it can be done. Not by GMB or any of the over 60 lootocrats but the youths if they get their acts together.

From the late 70s up to the early 80s were Nigerian's golden years.

There were no hassles securing visas to other countries. We even had the Brits and other foreigners flocking into Nigeria to secure employments in our universities.

As a citizen of the country, upon graduation from the university, a brand new car + accomodation + employment was provided by the govt.

We were the envy of other countries. But the tables has turned around and NGN 1 equals to USD220 now. There's no employment for graduates now. the list is endless and no need recounting them (to avoid emotional breakdown).

Just recently, I was shocked to hear that the govt of Ghana still provides a car and accomodation to graduates of medicine and nursing. About 2 months back, I sent NGN100,000.00 to Ghana and after the transfer via Access Bank, I discovered that the equivalent in Ghana Cedis was just one thousand and a few hundreds to my NGN100,000.00.

Our leaders have sucked Nigeria dry. Will Nigeria attain her golden era again remains to be seen.

Hmmmmmmmm!
As for the value of New Ghana Cedis, it's no biggie. Ghana dropped three zeros from their currency about a decade ago. C10,000 became C10. Soludo wanted to do same in Nigeria but Yar'Adua opposed it. Ghanian economy didn't suddenly grow at astronomical rate.

Many of my Ghanian friends still calculate using the old cedis in hundreds of thousands.

I always advise farmers not to start animal and crop farming simultaneously so as to avoid strain in their financial resources which might result into improper management of both enterprises, and at the end,one might not have much to show for it.
Lol. I'm doing both though by proxy. Both are challenging and animal farming is way riskier

For example, we just lost dozens of turkeys meant for Xmas market whereas the chickens are doing just fyn. Apart from a few seedlings that didn't grow, crop farm has been quite good.

He said, “There was the sum of N55 billion in the State Reserve Fund. Between 2014 and May 2015, they (immediate past administration) were able to remove N53 billion and we found out that the money (N53 billion) was not used for the projects in the state. The money went to individuals. From the papers submitted to us, we also found out that the money was given to people they like.

“We went to the site of the Justice Karibi Whyte Hospital, we did not see anything at all. When I told the project contractor to come with us (panel) to the place, he said snakes would bite us.

“But I insisted that we should go there. Behold, by the time we went inside, we did not see anything. The whole billions of Naira given to the man cannot be accounted for. We have recommended that those found culpable should refund the money. We even recommended that some people should be prosecuted.
