Just to name a few smh you forgot super story. you are listing television drama series, soaps which were popular then. We also had the masquerade, village headmaster, Ichoku in the 70s and the very popular things fall apart in the 80s. These series were to become the springboard of the home video revolution started by living in bondage because most of the actors of the movie industry of the 90s and 20s were groomed by them not these ones you mentioned. |

Lebee4: Hello fellow Nairalanders, i was going through a post where the Vice President was quoted as saying that "Southeast is the birthplace of Nollywood." Please, i will like Nairalanders to shed more light on this quote because if my memory still serves me right, we've been watching some Yoruba movies way back before Living in Bondage and Glamour Girls. can you name those 'Yoruba movies' you've been watching? |

This 2017 data was sourced with in partnership with a UN agency and the result was significantly different. Nigerian data are always a political sham. Nigeria’s Northwest and Northeast regions have the highest prevalence of bribery among adults, a new report published on Wednesday indicates. The report, prepared by Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), with a focus on the quality and integrity of public services in the country, shows that the Northwest has 36.2 per cent prevalence rate while the Northeast has 35.2 per cent prevalence rate. The prevalence of bribery, according to the report, “is calculated as the number of adult Nigerians who had at least one contact with a public official and who paid a bribe to a public official, or were asked for a bribe by a public official, on at least one occasion in the 12 months prior to the survey, as a percentage of all adult Nigerians who had at least one contact with a public official.” The country’s Southeast region, currently in the throes of a separatist agitation championed by Nnamdi Kanu’s Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has the lowest bribery prevalence rate of 24.2 per cent, which is below the national average prevalence rate of 32.3 per cent. In between these extremes are the Southsouth, Southwest and Northwest with corruption prevalence rates of 33.8 percent, 32.8 per cent and 29.1 per cent, respectively. In terms of an average number of times a bribe is paid in each of the regions, Southeast has 4.9, followed by Northwest with 5.2 and Southwest with 5.7 times – all of which are below the national average of 5.8 occurrence rate. A bribe is paid in an average of 6.2 times in the Northeast, while both the Northcentral and the Southsouth have a 6.4 occurrence rate. However, the report notes that from the “spatial analysis of bribery prevalence across the 36 states of Nigeria, no clear geographical pattern emerges. At the state level, the prevalence of bribery ranges between 13 per cent in Kwara State and 52 per cent in Borno State, indicating that local factors can have a significant impact on interactions between civil servants and the public.” https://m.guardian.ng/news/northwest-northeast-top-bribery-prevalence-rate-in-nigeria/ |

Bembellaa: lol... Let me break your heart
80 of Igbos are traders,15 are civil servants while 5% are farmers
Igbos can't do well in the east
1. Almost every igbo man is a trader in the east... Who will then be the consumer?? Will you buy what you sell??
2. You have no land in the East... Not even fertile land for farming almost every agro produce you consume is coming from the north.
3.Igbos have no natural resources that will drive their economy... igbo land is landlocked.
I just pray for Nigeria to divide... You think south south will go with you?? Hell no!
I just pray for this country to divide even if it's for one month
Make reality hit una small you can say that without crying your pained eyes out. I only saw the bolded and I say amen to it. |

Bembellaa: why will a sane person invest in the east, when Easterners are trooping out of the east and are scattered all over the region searching for greener pasture and leaving the east to invest in other regions
How many Igbos are investing in the east?? Where is the land and population??
Stop deceiving yourself bro there's nothing to invest in the east, even Nnamdi kanu knows that! wishful believes. let me spoil your mood a little be reminding you that Igbo's dominate about 60% of the key bussiness sectors of the economy. we only need to relocate our businesses to Biafra and start from there when the country splits. Have a nice day. |

Bembellaa: Nwanne... Dangote don't have to open anything in the south east atleast for now...
The hatred Igbos have for Northerners is still very strong have u ever seen any Igbo asking for his investment in the East? Even though we know it disproportionate, we prefer a level playing ground where the likes of ibeto are allowed to compete fairly with fellow businessmen and not a government front like dangote. As for patronage, even he knows what will happen if Biafra leaves. I will refer you to his reaction to area youth quit notice on Igbo. Every butterfly now think himself a bird. |

Rita domnics, Chioma chukwuka, omotola, stepnanie okoro etc never asked to be compared to Genevieve talk more of Funke who technically isn't a nollywood actress. The only major nollywood movie she appeared was egg of life where she was totally out-classed by a host of medium rank and below medium rank actresses. you can't compare Nigerian professional league player to uefa Champions league star. Anybody doing so is only giving her the honor of being compared to Genevieve. |

myobjective: The minority in the old western region only make 10% of the population, and they got 7/23 (around 30%) of the ministerial position. To me, that is fair enough.
Compared to the east, where the minority makes up more than 35% of the population but got 9/26 (34%) of the ministerial position. If we are to be sincere, the minority got a better deal in the southwest How can the Midwest be 10% of the western region? |

Your post reeks of naivety and outright inferiority complex. Do you expect an average Nigerian to know about more than 300 ethnic groups? How would they know your ethnic group when you couldn't even mention it here in your write-up? were you not more interested in telling them you were not Igbo than telling them your own ethnic group? most people will always regard people from SE/SS as Igbo's the same way much of North is regarded as Hausa because of related culture and political history, even when they know you're really not Igbo or Hausa. I'm sure you won't complain or reject it if someone sees your name and gives you your own share of the money meant for Igbo's thinking you're one. |

valirex: Ok let me enlighten you, Edo is fully independent and already agitating. And when we feel the time is right we will make it public. Even though most parts of SS do not agitate it not enough reason to force them into your biafra. I see kanu as wasting his time, have you seen the way SS people insults IPOB? Making it vehemently clear they are not interested in a mini Nigeria That's what you think which is in fact not correct. We are not known and have never been known throughout history to force people. If they opt out via a referendum we let them be. southern Cameroon did so. Today nobody remembers they were ever part of eastern region except themselves b'cos of their plight. I don't need to go down the history lane but you must know that while it's easy to say SS minorities did this or that, it's not so in reality. The Ijaw, kalabari, okirika, ibani on one hand and efik, Ibibio, annang and ogoja have mixed with their Igbo neighbours so much for one to believe they will reject Biafra and opt for any other arrangement. moreover they have their people in Ipob. forget the online rejection, the decisive moment will prove. The way you guys make your calculations on Niger delta republic makes me believe you actually think there will be a time when all Nigerian ethnic groups will be given a chance to choose what they want. I don't think so. It is those who challenge the oppressor that the oppressor calls for negotiations. |

valirex: We will be waiting for you, and while we are doing that plans we be laid on how we will take Onitcha
By my calculations 10000 Ogun warriors should be able to take and retain Onitcha That's not the point. Igbos don't need them. Ever seen an Igbo campaigning for urhobo and itshekiri or Edo to join Biafra? while I don't hate them, I don't want them also. my point is Ipob already included them and many of them hate the oodua republic idea while having no dream of their own. It follows that the available which is Biafra could become desirable for them. |
