Pazienza you said no one is dividing igbos. If the reverse were the case, and the British needed the north divided as away of controlling the country, do you think Hausa language will be taught in the minority states of the north? do you think hausa will be promoted systematically while allowing minority first languages of the north to go into extinction? Do you even think there would be anything like "Hausa fulani" as a single ethnic group. Do you know the British govt barred missionaries from entering into emirates and muslim strongholds in northern Nigeria as well as sudan? Islam, fulanism and Hausa language were used to unify the north while Fear of igbo dominance and resources were used to divide Eastern region (including southern cameroon) and to keep it divided, in other to achieve their longterm objective of controlling Nigeria. Do you know that while the east gave minorities power, The NPC had as its motto "one north" while also having as their unsaid motto "several souths" . It started with the western region crisis which lead to the creation of midwest through a referendum and ended with the forceful partitioning of the eastern region. Although states were also created in the north, they were merely political boundaries. political and religious dynamics in the north which favoured their unity under Hausa Fulani and Islamic identity was untouched while political dynamics in the east which favoured the rallying together of Eastern minorities around a homogeneous and united Igbo race in building a progressive region and one of the fastest growing economy in the world was altered. This is why You have Ohaneze for Igbos, Afenifere for Yoruba's and instead of having Arewa for Hausa/Fulani alone, you have it for the entire north which is only half populated by them. If you are on ground as you say you will know that the claim of Christians being minority in the north is make-believe. North is 50/50 between muslims and Christians, which means than muslims are large minority in Nigeria. Many northern minorities dont want anything to do with hausa/fulani ( jerry gana example) But they are helpless since the system is already in the control of the hausa fulani muslim. your impression that Northern minorities are comfortable with Hausa/Fulani's because they speak their language is absolutely unfounded. Don't underestimate the role a system plays in shaping the workings of a society. |
pazienza:It is not irrelevant. Ijaws dont identify as Igbos during marriage but Ikwerres do use kinship ties as a bargaining ship during marriage negotiations. That's the difference. When the issues of creation of Bayelsa out of river state rose the ikwerres approached Azikiwe and Ukiwe on the basis of kinship and appealed for the support. I've seen ikwerre guys complain in PH how ijaws help each other but ikwerres rather help Igbo's. The Ikwerres and their co conspirators know how to play on your emotions by getting things from you when they need you, and using audio denial to keep you from DEMANDING a reciprocity because they know they can't reject such demand. pazienza:marriage is a personal issue but audio denial is an ethnic issue? pazienza:don't be ridiculous. You don't have such power. There is a reason why every ethnic group is recognized all over the world by their first language instead of how they choose to identify. That is why you have German speaking pple, Igbo speaking pple etc instead of German identifying pple. The issue of identity is purely politics. It follows that no Igbo person has the right to declare a fellow igbo as a non Igbo for political gain. If you make such move, the world will not listen to you cos you all are seen as igbos. If you lack the political tact devoid of emotions to handle it, nobody and no amount of cries will do it for you. The Europe of today had numerous nations states, athens, sparta, yorkshire, etc before nationalists fought, unified them along national lines and created nations states. pazienza:if ohaneze's recognition is your criterion why don't you accept Ikwerres also cos they are recognized by ohaneze? pazienza:you're overtly emotional in how you conceive these issues. Ohaneze ndigbo is itself insignificant. Who told you that once you're not in ohaneze you cease to be Igbo. Is there any ohaneze in your constitution? Your govt recognizes who they want as Igbo whenever they like and nothing happens. Even the int. community will keep mute whenever the person is from the Igbo speaking area. what has your ohaneze done to integrate Igbo's in equatorial guinea? pazienza:how can you say that an Igbo speaking people don't want to associate with what they speak? again, you speak of marriage as a personal thing that shouldn't be used as an evidence of closer ties and then want me to believe that how an average ikwerre choose to associate ( which is much more personal) is an "evidence" of their ethnic identity. what's the source of your confusion? pazienza:No. they are politics oriented. They belong to the British govt and are funded by them reasonably. They are their propaganda tool. Fredrick forsyth was recalled for reporting the civil war how it happened instead of how British govt wanted it to be seen. Their views always reflect the british govt policy and Eastern region is no different. You and i know that if Bbc Igbo report every success recorded by ipob or even report killings by herdsmen fairly, their follower ship and profit will rise geometrically. the question is why is it not so? pazienza:That wasn't your initial claim. Northern minorities also speak Hausa. That is well known and no one disputed that. But no northern minority will formally want to be addressed in Hausa. Non will consent to that. Tiv, junkun, idoma, nupe and those from jos have their languages. But it has been the policy of the Britain and fulani establishment to promote Hausa in the north as a means of unifying the north and increasing their dominance over the rest of the country, divide Eastern region by replacing igbo with pidgin. That was what they did. pazienza:Funny you! The truth is that those ikwerre ogba etche etc care less if the igbo language is taught in rivers or not. The fact that they are not taught is actually more of what the establishment want than what the natives want. majority of igbo deniers are audio deniers. whether wike, amaechi or any figure in their state says he is igbo or denys igbo non of them will even raise eyebrow except they continue scaring and emotionally bruising people like you with " I am not Igbo" . That's the truth. pazienza:Lol. Which ikwerre group cos i follow every ethnic group on face book? If it is the group i know ( that has about four thousand of their pple) then i am aware the hateful and dss paid fool who control it has since been silenced by people who put aside emotion in handling delicate issues. Ogbakor ikwerre was formed by people like elechi amadi after the civil war so you should expect nothing less than what they are doing. Its all political grandstanding and make- believe. pazienza:funny you again. when it comes to those of them who proclaim their igboness you claim they are playing politics but when it comes to those of them who speak Igbo, associate with Igbo, marry Igbo but SAY they are not Igbo, you easily forget they are the ones playing politics. pazienza:you like to sound like they really don't want to associate with anything Igbo. And i asked why apga which is Igbo personified made an impressive showing in 2011. people actually turned out during rallies despite having no fund for campaign an apga's lethargic leadership. so stop shifting goal post. pazienza:That is not how to check polularity. Kanu's popularity will be tasted through a fair and un monitored referendum. You know what? you have nothing meaningful to prove that we don't get along except that you are bruised by their audio denial. Police record show that the number of those arrested in ph during the first protest included almost half ikwerre/etche while the rest include efik/ibibio and Igbos residents. Kanus rally in Obigbo included Ikwerre chiefs, obigbo and ijaw leaders. Ipob members were killed in ph the same way they were killed in Nkpor and Asaba. They are being opposed the rivers state govt the same way they are opposed by south east govt. If anything the south east leaders have betrayed Biafrans more that those who deny igbo. They the SE govs and ohaneze you love to reverence came together and proscribed their own armless people seeking self determination. was wike or okowa present? Do you think a foremost Igbo leader like Nnia nwodo who proscribed his own people will hesitate to deny his igboness like those in Rivers if opportunity comes? It is all caused by the fulani controlled system which maked igbo denial lucrative. even kanu had to admit sometime ago that he doesnt blame SE govt because the fulanis held them by the balls. pazienza:any evidence aside hearsay? pazienza:you have already been captured by the emotions which audio Igbo denial trigger that you no longer think rationally. You speak of lingua franca. If it interests bbc they can actually open a tiv channel to promote the language, they can open a nupe or even pidgin channel. It's all a matter of their interest and long standing british govt policy in Nigeria. It is never a matter of what the people want or what the people are comfortable with. Why are they covering the herdsmen killings? because it doesnt help British govt and their fulani allies. It is all politics. There is no such thing as middle belt being comfortable with hausa. Stop sounding ridiculous. pazienza:still repeating same old stuff. pazienza:I'd rather have you say they "were severed from us" Because the so called igboid never really agitated for a state. It was ijaw and ogoni. The state was forcefully partitioned by gowon without a referendum. The rumu change you speak of was also forcefully changed not by an Igboid govt but by a fulani mole diete spiff. while you may say it has tacit support of many ikwerre, you cant directly hold them responsible for that if you want to be reasonable. wike made a public comment about ndigbo but your ohaneze leader proscribed armless igbo youths. Which is worse? Azikiwe was never a major candidate during the election after his betrayal during the war. Shagari had Ekwueme as vice and granted pardon to ojukwu . which favoured Igbo more? Yes ekwueme came with the idea of SS but the establishment accepted it because it accorded with their vision. If Ekwueme came up with the idea of Biafra at that point do you think the establishment will accent to it? If you are naive to believe SS stuff was ekwueme's making then you must believe zik removed referendum from our constitution. pazienza:Does marginalization draw people closer to the pple who marginalize them? when people are under pressure to deny their identity it means they are lured with attractive privileges in order to deny their true identity for political gains. so far umuezeokoha are being marginalized they will keep their true identity .Delta state for instance is not structured in a way that makes the Igbo deniers the rallying point unlike rivers state. That is why okowa who comes from Ika area is proudly Igbo and even trying to unify Igbo groups in the state. Igbo identity has earned him governorship position because it is zoned. and it happened that proud Igbos of enuani serve as the rallying point of some sort for Delta North. if the ukwuani or ika were more powerful, enuani will have no choice than to follow suit. pazienza:you deliberately forgot other examples i gave. Btw Isoko and Urhobo were one at the begining and understand themselves more than ijaw people. It just happened that the Bristh colonialist met them as seperate tribes. Efik and ibibio are one but they failed to unify with an umbrella name like ijaw who are made up of many mutually unintelligible languages. The same thing that unified the ijaws with mutually unintelligible languages in Bayelsa, unified north under arewa despite dissenting voices, is the same force that divides the more homogeneous Igbo nations. Its called politics. But your problem is that you don't tackle it from the political angle, you follow the emotional angle. So far the we run an anti Igbo system, a system which makes Igbo denial a viable and lucrative political adventure, a system which associate Igbo denial with upward 'political mobility'. Things like this will continue. Dismantle it and see politics follow its natural order. |
donbachi:I didn't see China in the topic so let's stick to it. |
donbachi:Start by telling us how "monthly allocation" developed the cities. |
This is a machine! |
jimyjames:hey! pls you should put "viewer discretion' on that picture. |
Frenchkiss564:Same with the growth of Lagos, isn't it? |
pazienza:Smh Not exactly true but ill let that pass. pazienza:when they come to to marry Igbos do they identify as ikwerre or Igbos? most do identify as Igbos. pazienza:marriage issues are not national issues? go and tell that to nigerian govt that gives out wads of cash to corp members who marry outside their " tribe" to promote " national integration", go and tell that to people who marry in a country to gain national citizenship or nations that use heavy intermarriage to make a case against seperatism. Generally marriage patterns are used to gauge how well groups get along, this is why govt can do anything to see inter marriage happen. pazienza:don't you sound funny? you don't have control over who YOU GIVE your daughters to but you have control over who is Igbo? pray tell how? pazienza:do you have the power to stop Fulani controlled apc from giving Igbo presidency slot to amaechi and easily making him president? did you stop buhari from recognizing kachikwu and emefiele as Igbos who held igbo slots? but when it suits him he'll recognize them as SS? can you stop the FG from brandishing their names as Igbos when they commit crimes? pazienza:what powers do Igbos have in the nigerian politics? If Igbos have this powers you speak of there wouldnt be Igbo denial in the first place. This is one fact you don't seem to acknowledge. pazienza:contradiction pazienza:What strategic Igbo interest does that project? well, that's exactly what an emotional market woman would do pazienza:yes! they are all the causes pazienza:No. you rather are the one driven by emotions without answering critical questions. your emotions drove you into making the assumption that BBC made such research. Do you have any evidence that they did such? Do you think that the northern minorities and middle belt will consent to such arrangement by if asked by Bbc ? pazienza:assumptions assumptions assumptions! There should be no " ifs" but facts pazienza:bbc did wrong because they seem to be operating with too policies in nigeria. Approaching the north on the basis of "who hear hausa" while approaching the East not in the basis of those who hear Igbo but on the basis of those "who say they are Igbos and those who say they are not" . With the implication of unifying the north and furthering division in the East. It is a longstanding policy of the fulani govt and their British allied. stop getting hysterical pazienza:important opinions and policies are not formed based on Facebook observation. Not even by inter action. They are formed by significant events, trend and pattern of response to issues. only emotional people take such serious. pazienza:Hell didn't let loose when amaechi said he is Igbo, huh? Hell didnt let loose when Ipob have been protesting and holding rallies in PH Hell didn't let loose against radio Biafra but it going to let loose against BBC? Hell didn't let loose when apga got an impressive result without campaigns in Rivers state in 2011 Hell hasn't let loose on the increasing Igbo language bill boards in port Harcourt you make so many assumptions based on prejudice. If Nnamdi KANU had an emotional mindset like yours IPOB would've died a long time ago. pazienza:That is a lie from the pit of hell. Middle belt can play along with the arewa tag because arewa simply means north, but when it come to ethnicity a tiv, birom, igala, idoma, or those from jos can slap you for calling them hausa. Jerry gana openly declared there were not going to share a country with Hausa in case of break up. Many middle belt leader such as Danjuma, useni re echo that. were they not the ones who propose takuruku republic? pazienza:No you are the one being caught up in the emotions of seeing Igbos tell you they are not one? pazienza:Igboland partitioned itself in 1967? Igboland renamed umu to rumu? Igboland created South south? Igboland cut off south east from access to the sea? Igboland killed obi wali? Igboland partitioned south east nigeria into south east and south south? Igboland refused to conduct ethnic census in Nigeria to avoid answering the identity question in Nigeria and defining proper ethnic boundary? That's a height of delusion from you. When i was staying in Enugu around 2010, radio nigeria network center commenced a news program which broadcast news in the entire Eastern region (se&ss ). it was later stop. i learnt it was on the orders from above. It is not just about igbo denial but thr tacit govt policy which encourage and sustain it. pazienza:umuezeokoha are not under any pressure. There are yoruba deniers in Kogi and kwara but they do not handle it with so much emotion like you do. Saraki never agrees he is yoruba, many ilorin people will never see eye to eye with yorubas. Not just yoruba many groups have this problem despite not facing any pressure like Igbos yet they handle it without crying. urhobo and isoko, efik and ibibio, idoma and igede, idoma and agatu, ogoni and eleme, Ijaw and central delta come to mind pazienza:you are confused. you speak of disgracing them and speak of working with them. Emotions is getting the better part of you. If you believe the hate to associate with you why would you believe they can work with you? both hinge on them agreeing with you. The problem we face is largely cause by the Igbophobic structure of the country. Better man up, be reasonable by adopting a paternalistic approach to the issue. Else we keep whining and the Igbo race will pay for it. |
selemempe:I don't bother about the opinion of amarabae and ChinenyeN because they have a history of emotional approach to Igbo identity issues. Meleszenawi himself is even anti Biafra. I only have problem with pazienza who has been a pan Igbo champion but has allowed frustrations arising from Igbo denials get the better part of him that he started doing the opposite of what he was known for. |
Amarabae:should an emotional person care to reason? |
Amarabae:but you are the deluded and emotional one. how do you access how people get along? If you were not emotional you would have known that "audio Igbo denial" is a tactic meant not inflame passions of the emotionally weak and keep him from having a closer relationship with the denier, while the denier gets everything he needs from you. Wike married from IMO, Amaechi from anambra just like the majority of them. How can someone marry and Igbo and even swear heaven on earth that he is Igbo and later you take his audio denial serious? You prove you're not one with a tribe by action not by word. An Igbo can never contemplate marrying a Hausa Fulani or even Yoruba if not that many are forced to live in Lagos. Here you are taking a group of people serious for just saying they're not Igbo while sharing the same voting patterns, marriage patterns etc with you. I am not in favour of telling people in their face they are Igbo's cos that will achieve no result except giving them a false sense of importance but, believing they are not Igbo's on the basis of an ordinary audio denial and even using that to exclude some people in our political vision is utterly naive. |
politics, life entirely and its ramifications is not for the emotionally weak. An emotionally weak person is the one who sees his house burning and out of a raging anger tries to fight the fire with fire, forgetting that it is water that works. An emotionally weak person is the one that razes his house because he got angry after failing to catch the mouse that entered into the house. When kidnapers take any of your relative hostage, they place a call on you. After saying many unpleasant things against you, your loving relative will agree with them and even ask you to release money for his freedom. Only the emotionally weak will get mad at the relation for agreeing under the influence of those armed men instead of fighting for his release. It is make-believe and there is a lot of it in politics. I know it hurts seeing a fellow Igbo mock other Igbo's even with strangers but we remain fools if we get carried away by that, cos that is exactly how the system which encourage their attitude want us to respond. I understand that Igboland is the only ethnic group without internal ethnic separatism prior independence, unlike yoruba where ijebus claims separate and the Yoruba's had to surrender to colonialism and subsequently had to allow awolowo lead the race just to put that in check, unlike urhobo and isoko, Ibibio and efik, Idoma and igede, Ijaw and central delta, and presently ogoni and eleme. Igbo unity and exclusivism was envied by neighbours and Fulani govt alike. Igbo unity meant that the minorities around Igbo's needed the Igbo's more and had no choice than to rally round the igbos and build a prosperous region. it also meant that the minorities had to be integrated into the Igbo values system of hardwork, peace and progressiveness. The minorities had agitations for state creation in the eastern region but that doesn't automatically translate to a victory if it was put to a referendum like the western region. Even the Fulani govt knew it. Hence breaking the eastern region meant that some Igbo groups had to be partitioned into rivers and cross rivers state without referendum, thwart Igbo unity and its attendant values of hardwork and development. Imagine what rivers would've been without the upland- another useless state like bayelsa. It is a huge political victory for Igbo's that eastern region was partitioned without referendum. Every ethnic homeland partitioned have the right to sue for reunification just like East and west Germany did, North ireland and Irish free state on the one hand, and North and south Korea are all suing. This is the political angle, while people like pazienza and ChinenyeN are engrossed with emotional side which takes no one anywhere. |
ChinenyeN:Eke don't give defeatist mentality ![]() |
ChinenyeN:Hehehe ana eme nu what a mentality you have. |
pazienza:That's were you're showing your naivety. until you stop Igbos from giving them preferential treatment over non Igbo's in marriage matters. Until you stop your govt from making the east pay for their sins while rewarding them as minorities in matters of natural resources. until you make your govt operate a clearly defined ethnic boundary, ethnic population figures not just for indigenous language and cultural preservation, but to ensure that policies have a clearly defined path, then your rants will go unnoticed. These are structural issues designed by fulani govt supported by britain. It should be handled in a reasonable way. BBC held a townhall last year. Bbc Hausa did for north which includes many non Hausa speakers, BBC Yoruba did for sw including Lagos and kwara, while BBC Igbo did for SE and Delta Igbo excluding an Igbo majority Rivers state, which was left to BBC pidgin to conduct. If BBC could do it in Hausa for the entire north without considering other non ethnic hausas, why doing it in pidgin in rivers state were majority speak Igbo? is there any ethnic group in Nigeria that speak pidgin as their first language? why do you think IPOB always call out BBC? They were only acting out a policy handed to them by the British and Fulani govt. A policy targeted at unifying the north and Dividing Igboland. It's called identity politics and its largely (but not entirely) caused by state partitioning instead of state creation. There is a lot of make-belief in politics. Dismantle the Fulani imposed structure which place Igbo's against each other and watch that fizzle away. Your ranting is counter productive. When Northern Sudan saw that self determination in south was gathering pace, Sudan's govt partitioned south Sudan in away that would trigger mutual suspicion among the southern groups as they did in the Eastern region. But dimka the biggest group in the south handled it with tact and today, they are free. This is what I expect to do instead of the emotion laden approach of cutting your nose to spite your face in frustration. |
pazienza:what is your own solution to the problem? |
pazienza:You are the one trying to create a one-sided narrative. I never made them victims. I already stated they are selfish and lazy opportunists. But you find such people in every group however closely knitted the group is and, the division wouldn't manifest until it meets the rare combination of an I gbophobia national policy and igbophobic Igbo neighbours. why won't they deny Igbo when they reap the funny priviledge of being Igbo's and the privilege of not being Igbo's at the same time. The south east Igbo's are always there to suffer for them as "shock absorbers". That is how Fulani system made it. it benefits no one. It has to be dismantled so the region can prosper. you can't achieve it by what you're doing now. |
pazienza:You should know there is a tacit policy among Igbo neigbours that that makes Igbo denial a pre requisite for fair and peaceful coexistence with them. These our neigbours love everything about Igbo but they hate the unique sense of "exclusivism" and unity which comes with the Igbo identity. This makes it impossible for them to relate with Igbos as equals except they put their immediate Igbo neighbours under pressure to disconnect from the Igbo fold(Igbophobia). This is why urhobo is more comfortable if Ikaman says He is not Igbo, Ijaw and ogoni feel threatened when any ikwerre person says he is Igbo. For a British backed Fulani government that wants to fully control the resources of the area, this attitude of the minority present a perfect opportunity. They have structured states in south south in such a way that will encourage this Igbophobia, making it even more difficult for an Igbo in those places to identify as one. imagine Edwin Clark telling odili he is from Anambra and not from rivers and can't take south south slot but same Clark, with saro wiwa, encouraged Ikwere to disconnect from the Igbo fold and join rivers state. I guess wike is slowly realizing that. As for your. Onitsha claims, we go by your definition then I'll not be wrong to say you're confused. Onitsha represent as you said cos they are in Anambra. A lot of Onitsha people also say nwa onyigbo, except they have changed, they won't behave differently if they found themselves in ikwerre position in 1967, a lot of oguta people too. Generally people who are considered lazy will have this inferiority complex. They exhibit resentment towards more competitive people and wouldn't mind denying them when given the opportunity. But then, if you exclude industrious people in your land, it won't develop. The reason they were able to take economic control of your land is the same reason you won't succeed if you chase them from your land. The only way out is work hard and develop your land or leave more gifted entrepreneurs to operate in peace. My point is inferiority already exists among our neighbours, British backed Fulani regime exploited it by creating political structures which encouraged it, thereby dividing the entire region for political gain- an action no one in the area benefit from. The only way to unite our people is to dismantle the Fulani political structure in the eastern region, create a better organized one as KANU propose. Ranting against SS Igbo's as you're doing will do you no good. You'll end up cutting you nose just to spite your face. |
Equal2DeTask:I use to think they were ogoni. |
A lady from Eleme was terrible insulted by ogoni people after she refused to identify as ogoni. I want to know from eleme and ogoni people, is elements different from ogoni? |
BSMS:There is no cultural group called south south. if you remove Igboland ie 5 south east state, 35% of delta and 60% of rivers, some parts of Benue and Edo, you'll find out that the remainder ethnic groups are cat and dogs that wouldn't even see eye to eye. stop fooling yourself that this people are needed. They are the ones who need Igbo's to survive not the other way round. Do you know why Port Harcourt had to built into mainland east instead of core nigerdelta like brass? Do you know why PH, ikwere and a host of other Igbo groups had to be added into a supposedly minority rivers state, even though it wasn't part of the original plan? the answer is simply. Despite their oil a state of ijaw and ogoni wouldn't be viable because of its swampy topography. Igbo's over- indulge people. pigs like asari docubo who should be begging now find himself grandstanding. Ijaw, ogoni, efik, Ibibio all need Igbo's more than Igbo's need them. you will understand at the right time. |
Today you are the master, tomorrow Igbo's dominate you. which one do we take? |
Nothing was actually denied. The two statements say "no binding offer" has been made. It simply means there are talks already. moreover the statements look alike, more like a joint statement. |
why is it that 60% of the nation newspaper coverage in the east is negative? |
murade:so which religion promise suicide bombers 72 virgins? |
Nothing has been cleared |
Biafrarep:He actually modified his statement saying the country should split along Northern, Yoruba and Igbo ethnic lines like Yugoslavia. |
Time to close border at amansea ![]() |
Bump! |
Nowenuse, make your research well. Ibani is like a hybrid of Igbo language and Ijaw. while Bonny is mostly mixture of Igbo and Ijaw bloodline with predominantly Igbo first language, Opobo actually has very little link with Ijaw in terms of origin, bloodline etc, except it's located in the riverine culture sphere of influence. it's a mixture of Igbo, ijaw and efik with Igbo being majority. They speak Igbo, gravitate towards Abia in relations but adopt Ijaw names(although a number of them now bear Igbo first names). So it's wrong to just say Ibani is Ijaw. |
