cronsberg: Throughout Nigeria's history, i have never seen a state so well positioned and so well placed to be extremely developed than Kogi state with everything a geographical location needs to be fully developed. From Ajaokuta steel, to the large West African ceramics industrial complex, to the confluence of river Niger and Benue, to the ever agile and active populace, to the thousands of square miles of untapped woodland, to the world class Obajana industrial complex, to the massive IPP power plants and many more, yet this very well placed state is disapointingly poor and underdeveloped. The road network of Kogi is a shame to say the least, the pipe borne water and sewage infrastructure is almost non existent, integrated public tranport is also non existent, the state capital Lokoja was recently shown on TVC, it looked like a common local government, a poor one at that, and now the state is trying to borrow 50 billion naira from the FG? of what importance will that be since the state will now spend huge chuncks of its FG allocations for the next 20 years repaying the loans? further depriving the the state of common developement. what a shame kogi is a potentially richer state than some of the states regarded as rich states in the country? |

OreMI22: I am not sure about your president. He is too clannish and sectional to wish any good for SE talk-more of doing.
As for AIIA, there are ongoing attempts to frustrate traders using that airport and then get the airline to back-off due to low patronage. I just hope our people keep doing what they need to do and keep using the airport so that more airlines begin using the airport. Although I doubt they will permit any other airline to ply Enugu route. They want to frustrate ET out of the route.
May god give our governor the wisdom to carry on and dream big dreams. Hoping on the FG under APC to do anything positive in the SE is like waiting for a chicken to urinate. please what are those on going attempts to dissuade traders? |

Cjrane2: @ the bolded,
I used to argue against IPOD or massob demanding freedom of our land from Fulani and yoruba control and wicked manipulation. I regret to say all my arguements against IPOD and Massob were naive, unfounded and unfortunate. The best option for Ndigbo is to freely govern ourselves and truly plan the development of our country as every real country would do.Except Nigeria where you have a certain part plotting day and night how to underdeveloped another part of the same country! Yet scream "one Naigeria" at the top of their lungs while doing it!
People talk about oil, yet although we have oil in Igboland, it is fulani and Yoruba that have used all sorts of systems to corner the whole wealth. For example, If you used other African countries without oil to compare where Igboland would have been even without oil, you will find that although Igbos were more industrious and innovative than say Congo brazaville, Cameroon or DRC, brazaville or Douala or Kinshasha is still much more developed than any part of igboland. Then compare northern Nigeria with other nearby countries that are more hardworking, prudent and sensible than a typical northern Nigerian, you will find that Sokoto,Kano,Kaduna, maiduguri, katsina, Dutse, bauchi not to mention Abuja are all more advanced than Ndjamena,Chad, Niamey, Niger, Ouagadougou, Burkina faso or Bamako, mali.
It tells you that northern Nigerians have used Nigeria to improve themselves while making sure other zones remain disadvantaged being in Nigeria. pls count massob out of your calculation..they lost their way under last administration |

Edo State now has surpassed and quadrupled (4x) Enugu's coal capacity.

nwaanambra1: there is this very funny story going round at customs now - it is rumoured that a top customs officer from the southwest - let me not mention his name - went to his babalawos to ask for charms to make the CG to over look any of his issues, they said that the first babalawo screamed out loud and ran out of his shrine as the shrine caught fire when he mentioned the CG's name to his juju! similar thing happend to other babalawo's that he visited! they said the big oga has taken sick leave since the resumption of the new CG!
All of the ogas are so scared now that they dont knw the fate that will befail them. some are even saying that if its only retirement, they wouldnt be worried - but what scares them the most is wht follows after retirement! haha very funny and grim at the same time...i think genuine importers and exporters would be happy with this man's appointment |

HappyJoe: I just visited Ikwo, there's supposed to be a cluster of rice mills around the area where EbonyAgro is located and the Ebonyi State government built of very good road to access that cluster.
The owner of EbonyAgro, Charles Ugwu is also building a much bigger mill around the Adani Area (TaraAgro), with Coscharis farm nearby (at Anaku), he'll probably source enough paddy to run his mill (if he has funds for working capital). I think Tara agro mill is completed..whether it has started working I am not sure about http://allafrica.com/stories/201501120358.html |

kcjazz: How will the bridge end in Obosi or Ozubulu? Haba!
Have you seen the contract or government press release?
The bridge was highly inflated simple. The only argument you can even make is it has more lanes but even at that labour is cheaper in Anambra. How do you justify the tolls?
More importantly blame the Igbo political leaders who will do anything to throw their people under the bus. the bridge is highly inflated However the complete bridge project involves connecting roads (or bridges in some parts because of marshy terrain) towards onitsha owerri expressway at ozubulu and to obosi roundabout |
Politics › Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by asha80(m): 1:32pm On Sep 16, 2015 |
HappyJoe: I disagree. At the rate Ebonyi people are going out to fend for themselves, they might erase the education deficit within a generation. That is not to say investment in education is not needed.
Also people forget that Abakaliki is about 3 hours from Calabar (if you have a functioning port in Calabar), the business opportunities are immense.
Ebonyi has Ibeto's plant (the former NigerCem) and massive food processing industries like Engineer Charlie Ugwu's EbonyAgro (I visited there). I visited Osun also, and I did not see similar industrial potential - also consider that Osun & Ekiti people are not as enterprising as Igbos.
Abakaliki has all it takes to be the next Enugu - it's like an hour away from Enugu. A lot of business opportunity with a smart, forward looking governor. apart from ebony agro and rice processing outfits what other food processing outfits are there? |
