@kobojunkie
As far as i am concernd fashola is just one of a kind.We cannot run away from the truth because fashola seems to be doing well.A situation where a goverment knows he will be allocated money from the central goverment to 'run' his state no matter what is different from where he knows he has to make sure that the state he is governing gets the money it needs by generating the money themselves are two different scenarios.
This is how the old northern, western and eastern region ran themselves successfully even though there where talks of corruption here and there.Do not tell me that the state of ohio you are staying is being given monthly allocation by washington. It is because of this type of nonsense that we have unviable states in the country.

Trust me when I say this. . . . I have already been through the "DWELLING ON THE PAST STAGE" and I have learnt it is all BULL. So, spare yourself the wait. I am not looking for hugs and kisses exchanged between the next hausa man and his ibo brother, what I am looking for in a nation is one in which all persons have access to the best quality of living we can offer em. All that history nonsense has nothing to do with improving quality of life in any country. If Dubai can move from all it's history to where it is today, you have no excuse; no plausible reason to offer me for why we continue to have this diseased way of life as we have right now in that country, from North to south. PERIOD!
We are not going anywhere until we restructure this country. The kind of system we are operating now encourages laziness and thieves.

Robbers attack bullion van with dynamite
By Agency reporter
Published: Thursday, 22 Jan 2009
Armed robbers attacked a bullion van and its accompanying security vehicle at Arungwa junction, on the Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway on Tuesday.

It was a day Governor Theodore Orji was inaugurating development projects in Ikwuano Local Government area and the robbers carted away unspecified amount of money.

The PUNCH learnt that the armed robbers used dynamite to blow up the back of the bullion van, which belonged to a commercial bank.

They carted away the money after allegedly killing all the policemen in the security vehicle and setting their vehicle ablaze.

It was also gathered that the robbers, who first applied bullets to open the bullion van without success, later resorted to the use of dynamite and hand grenade.

The robbery reportedly lasted for over two hours without any interruption, except when the members of the state vigilance team came to the scene and killed one of the armed robbers.

Other members of the gang escaped with their loot, firing sporadically into the air to scare away people around.

When contacted, spokesman for the police in the state, Mr. Alli Okechukwu, requested that he should be given some time to compile report on the incident.

I would prefer we go back to our regional system of goverment since we have 6 political zones already we should make use of them and start practising real federalism where these political zones will control there resouces and contribute to the centre.Thank God price of fuel is falling and likely continue to fall so that we have a rethink of the mindless creation of states which only serves as conduite pipe for the governors and the political jobbers.

happy about what? nigerian states declaring bankruptcy left and right?
Those nigerian states should look for other sources of revenue like other mineral resources available to them(including agric) rather than running to abuja for handouts which is one of the reasons most governors are lazy.If a state cannot sustain itself it should merge with a nearby state.

The problems with 9ja sports are 2 much, but corruption is the most challenging
I still can't fathom why we can't present eligible players 4 agegrade competitions
We have 2 start seeing age cheating as a bad thing
Real U-15s,U-17s,U-20s are being shortchanged
I just heard that age cheating is one of d reasons why some players collapse and/or die during matches
NFA is also not spared. We hav 2 clean d glass house.
Correct yarns!

Politics › Re: Nigerians Are Born Cowards! by asha80(m): 11:02pm On Jan 20, 2009
Nuzo,

Thanks for bringing the write up. In a relationship of friednship between two people there are three forces at work. There is the individual force of each party coming together and then there is a resultant force of the composites forming a bond. The harmony and pattern of behavior of the relationship is determined by the resultant energy, this is the force of the relationship itself and not of the two people within the relationship. Even though individually the persons forming the union are great in their own separate lives, coming together and forming this imbalance in composite energy could result in chaos that ultimately will destroy the individual lives. Gradually, each party withdraws its contributions, whether materially, spiritually or mentally and if they were married, cheating begins, extra marital affairs begin, they start to steal from one another, accusations and counter accusations increase and sometimes it might include violent bursts of emotion. Nothing they do moves them forward or promote goodwill and ultimately they find their fulfillment elsewhere and this doomed union must end in divorce or separation.

In the case of Nigeria, each tribe standing individually had its great attributes and in our individual destinies were more effective than we are now combined in an in-harmonious composition that is not beneficial to any entity, separate or as a union. We are under the influence of that inharmonious resultant energy of the union and where we should be contributing to the central progress we are instead cheating and stealing from the center.

People have stood up in the past and I am sure that there are people willing to stand up now and there will be people in future willing to stand up. Each time people stand up it brings hope but the hope is quickly quashed before it has time to fire up the will. The will is what is missing. But the will is not there because of the reasons I already pointed out, the forces of dis-unity is far greater than the hope of unity.

If you break up Nigeria today and the component nations took back their pre-amalgamation boundaries, within 20yrs they should be able to self-correct and move on in with an individual destiny and far greater development than would be the case otherwise.

We are not cowards, our will is weakened by the effect of a dis-harmonious union
Spot on!

You havent still changed my mind about what I said - for all the changes I have witnessed, great or small, I am proud of my country and I believe there is hope in the air, if you are not, then, that does not bother me, and you are entitled to paint the country in any light you want - that doesnt mean your opinion is more superior to mine - who send u?
