Not sure I get your logic. Is Emefiele also responsible for fall in oil price? Is Buhari responsible for the fall in oil price? They are not and neither is Kemi Adeosun. The point is...We need people with tested economics and treasury background who can articulate monetary and fiscal policies to get us out of this mess. They are not mutually exclusive, Finance (fiscal) and CBN(monetary ) have to work to together to effectively get us out of this conundrum. If it means ban on some importation to boast local production to shore up our currency value to counteract the fall in oil price visavis oil revenue, that's where the Fiscal aspect comes in, and such policies have to be articulated.
are you not aware of the restriction of forex for the importation of 41 items? Are you abreast with news at all?

The issue has gone beyond who is the cbn chairman..highest a new person can do is devalue the naira but this comes with its consequences as prices of commodities (which are largely imported since we hardly have an industrial base) rise ..don't know how poor or supposedly middle class will cope..we are simply paying the price of being a monoproduct economy due to visionless leaders we have had

Hobnobing with that evil man called gown and the child lover aka president is not gratitude. If u think he is doing anything just do a research on Sam mbakwe very well and u will understand

Between health and education which one is better to be concessioned? What you wrote up there is what the Government has been talking about with regards to health. Okorocha as a man seems to like education for the poor hence he wants it free and is trying his best to sustain it.

All those schools have been completely rebuilt by Okorocha anyway.
yeah except that some of them the windows have been stolen or damaged and it is not just about repair but running of the schools..he should reduce the burden on himself in education.it would be more effective to sustain free and importantly quality with the govt owned schools.it is not concessioning schools per say but giving those missionary schools back to their owners since they built them in first instance not govt unlike hospitals..states surrounding us are not fools to have done that

What Rochas Okorocha is trying to do is the most sustainable solution to our inept civil service in Nigeria. That is the simple truth. By the time oil falls to 5DPB our only possible means of maintaining huge workforce is by making Government owned parastatals more sustainable by achieving at least 70% self funding.

IMHO the funds should have been directed to free education and building of more schools. Will Imolites be happy if free education is cancelled because of most funds going to paying ghost workers? Concessioning will be as difficult to implement as subsidy but just like we removed subsidy now that we are pushed to the wall so shall this Rochas idea be in future.
I really don't buy this free education as presently implemented..give back those secondary schools and primary schools built by the voluntary organizations just before the way like the holy ghost and Emmanuel colleges..give them subventions for period of Tim to build back those schools ( since govts ran them down as usual) and then finally hands off to focus more on the remaining govt schools like govt colledge, owerri girls, akwakuma girls and implement the free education on these schools

Minister Demands
Satisfactory Job On Owerri-
Elele Road

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs has said
that he will not sign any certificate of
payment in regard to the Owerri-Elele road
construction until a satisfactory job was
done.

Pastor Usani Uguru Usani said this on
Thursday in Owerri during a visit to the site
of the project to assess work done by Arab
Contractors, the firm handling the project.
Usani said that certificates of payment
would be signed only when projects meet
the ministry’s job specification and quality
as stipulated in the contractual agreement.

He. therefore, urged the contractors to
ensure that work done on the 35.75-kms
road was commensurate with the amount
they collected.

According to him, 15kms of the dual
carriageway have so far been completed.
He said that each carriageway had 1.5
metres and 2.75 metres shoulders from
Owerri to Omerelu, both in Imo State.

He explained that the pavement had a total
thickness of 500mm consisting of 200mm
lateritic sub-base material, 200mm crushed
stone base course, 60mm asphaltic
concrete binder course and 40mm asphaltic
concrete wearing course.
The minister said that the road project
involved earthwork and construction of
underground water drainage within Owerri
Township.

He said that it would also include
trapezoidal drains at specified sections
within other built-up areas along the road,
adding that the ministry had also
constructed more than 23 culverts designed
for the road.

While charging the contractor to maintain
high quality work, the minister said he
would get road technicians to evaluate work
done when next he would inspect the road.
Meanwhile, Mr Mohammed Eledarous, the
site engineer of Arab Contractors, identified
challenges hindering the smooth execution
of the road project to include short dry
season in the region and funding.
NAN recalls that the construction of the
Owerri-Elele road was awarded at the cost
of N21.5 billion in 2009. (NAN)

From what I've been made to understand, unlike the Yoruba in the SW, the SE is not welcoming to other tribes who intend to prosper in that region.

I have been updated that as a Yoruba man I can not buy a piece of land in Anambra. So why the Igbo shout for justice while denying said equal rights baffles me.

Or what of the mass sack of Imo workers by Obiano some year ago about

It's very rich and hypocritical

where will they get the gas from...when the existing power plants are suffering from lack of gas.

it is true Nigeria have a very huge gas reserve..but there is very little investment to tap into this, particularly for the local market.. because in most cases the returns on such investments are not encouraging.

add to that a very difficult operating retain viz a viz community issues, militancy, vandalism and ineffective governance.

the end result is that most of gasplants we have in Nigeria today are only producing about 40% of the time.(60% downtime)..and are not ussualy of the right quality(due to lack of investment in processing) to power our gas plants

building new gas plants is just like expanding this challenges.
rottennaija:
there is need for a good mix. coal, gas, hydro and perhaps solar and wind. Gas requires pipeline which could span 1000s of kilometer which an irate niger deltan can blow up with a twinkle of an eye, then suddenly, power generation falls by more than 2000 mwatts whereas, coal power plant is located near the power station and as a result, nothing of that can happen.
currently, some refineries in the country is down because of depending on pipeline which some youths decided to blow up.
What i am saying is that in a country like nigeria, location of a project like power plants need to be taken into consideration. Locate the plant near the source of the fuel, that way, you avoid so much headache
google anambra and gas reserves..it will clear your doubts

Kenai:
Just like I keep saying - Any person who calls himself/herself a true-blood Igbo, and foolishly follows the words of that crook Nnamdi Kanu, is a gullible fool.
See morrons wasting their lives over a psycho who contributed NOTHING to their upbringing but just woke up one day in London and began to spread hate from the comfort of his home, calling on people he NEVER helped develop to pick up arms and waste their lives, render their mothers childless and endanger their communities.
Ask the fucccking twaaat how many Igbo people he helped train in any school or vocational skill program. Ask the immbecile how many primary clinics or ANYTHING resembling a helping hand he ever rendered to his people. The vagabond just crawled out of NOWHERE to start preaching trash, and frustrated, jobless people fooled themselves into thinking he gave one FUCCCK about their interests!

I have told the GULLIBLE people on this forum that IPOB is nothing but an assemblage of SCAMMERS desperately trying to manipulate the Igbos emotionally into putting their lives on the line for a foolish selfish group.
The fact that these people have no qualms in coming online to tell LIES with their misleading pictures, claiming to meet with David Cameron, US Army, British Airforce, UN Bigwigs and the rest, should have been the first red flag!
STEALING pictures of dead people from the Rivers State 2015 electoral violence and claiming they belong to IPOBians gunned down in the cause, is the height of FRAUD!!!

Let me ask you, all this while they've been killing IPOB members on the streets, what has IPOB done for the bereaved families besides taking their gory pictures of the victims and UPLOADING them as their Facebook avatars just to gain sympathy? THESE PEOPLE ARE DANGEROUS, SELFISH FRAUDSTERS, AND THE SOONER YOU FACE THAT REALITY, THE BETTER FOR YOU!
THEY ARE LOOKING FOR FOOT SOLDIERS, AND THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN GET THEM IS BY PLAYING ON PEOPLE'S SENTIMENTS AND SYMPATHY!

When Nnamdi Kanu was arrested, didn't the dumb IPOB iiddiots claim it was all part of his "grand plan" and that Buhari just played into his hands?
With the number of gullible IPOB miscreants killed so far, are you saying it was part of Nnamdi Kanu's plan to intentionally get captured SO HIS PEOPLE WOULD PROTEST AND GET KILLED IN THE STREETS?

Better check yourselves and open your eyes before you become another STATISTIC!
Use your lives for more important things like building our region, NOT constituting a nuisance and getting yourself killed over a fraudster who, at the very core, does NOT give a fuccck about you!

cc: Whynotthetruth
you have said nothing but the truth

However why should ipob go into school premises when school was still on to do meeting?

This mentality of yours is what enemies seek so that they'd use it and undermine us... Onicha, Aba, Nnewi, Asaba, Abankaleke etc are just places on the map. The people living in those places are Igbos and every Igbo knows that Enugwu is our political capital just like every Serb irrespective of whether you're from Montenegro, Bosnia or Serbia knows that Beograd is the Serb political capital and every Russian knows that Moskova is the spiritual capital of all Russians even if you live in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan or the Baltics.
Even during the war, Enugwu was lost three months after the war began but that didn't stop radio Biāfra still called itself Radio Biāfra Enugwu till the war ended bkos they knew that no matter what, its still the capital
I have my doubts and reasons because I have had discussions and I know the prevalent mentality..ipob will agree with what you wrote above but on the streets there are question marks..the inclusion of asaba above is also a question mark if we are judging from 1967 map

My question is who alerted the army to that meeting yesterday?
