You've come again with twisting facts abi? grin

Who attacked those places in bold first? Did you expect the Yoruba to remain neutral after the attack on their soil? Was the mid west not even preaching neutrality? why the attack on Benin?

This is why i keep telling the juveniles ranting about war on here that war isn't a tea party. You can predict the start of a war but you can never predict when or how it will end. All is fair in war and love said the sages. If you doubt, ask the USA why it used the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and has refused to apologize till date wink
You are the one getting things twisted. Nigeria opened the theatre of war by bombing the border town of Gakem in Ogoja which was part of Biafra. By invading Biafra, Biafra was justified in invading any part of Nigeria including Bini, Ore and Lagos. There was no neutrality anywhere.

Listen before you comment.....

The leader said it himself before he died in his interview
It is you who should have listend to what the Great Dim Ojukwu said. He said "we should have learnt from the first one" . Nigeria did not learn from the first one and ever remains an intrument of oppression and subjugation just as much as it was before Ojukwu declared Biafra. If Nigeria wasn't an instrument of oppression, the Igbo man would free to decide if he wants to be part of it or not. After all, Nigeria only exists because Lugard forced us all into it, and a forced union we remain.

One last thing, war is something that Nigeria causes. In the last civil war, it was Nigeria that came down to the East to fight
PoliticsRe: Open Letter To Igbos: Forget Biafra, Focus On National Unity by attackgat:
Edogi001:
My dear brothers from the east! Let me greet you in a more familiar manner: “Kedu, how market?” In my last open letter to you, I tried to convince you of the need to unanimously push a leader to the center. But, surprisingly, instead of focusing on how we can strive for political relevance during the new administration, some of my fellow brothers clamoured for the Biafra movement renewal. I asked myself: “Do the Igbo actually need Biafra now?” The answer my mind gave me with 100% certainty was: “No, we don’t.” Umu nwannem, have we completely forgotten our history? The Biafra movement emerged as a result of serious urgency. It came up to save our people from the genocide developing in the North. That’s why when the late General Ojukwu moved the motion of Biafra to the Igbo elders, there was a unanimous approval. But today, throw up the issue of Biafra to the Igbo elite, and you are sure to get a different response. It means the people are divided on the Biafra issue, and it will never enjoy such massive support as it did in 1967. I don’t support the Biafra call, but that doesn’t make me “less Igbo”. More importantly, that does not mean we should forget the zeal of our fathers fighting in the Biafra war with self-made weapons against sophisticated automatic rifles of the Nigerian armed forces. The agitation Gen Gowon thought was going to end soon turned into a full-blown war that lasted for 3 years, and was fought by farmers and blacksmiths with no technical support. Nevertheless, our people showed resilience and held on for a unanimously shared belief. It is that very Igbo persistent spirit I urge us to always remember. Whatever life endeavour we find ourselves in, be it in business, in academics or in spiritual life, the spirit of the Igbo nation will always see us through. We the Igbo are conquerors; we never say “never”. Today, we are the first-class entrepreneurs in Nigeria. Now imagine there is a country called Biafra. Where are we going to start from? How much will Biafra pound be to dollar? Do you think the southerners with their oil-rich land will follow us to Biafra where they will be seen as minority? Who will be the leader of Biafra? I know most of us don’t see Uwazurike as the leader. I wonder how he actually managed to emerge as a leader in the first place. So I am convinced it will be next to impossible for Biafra to become a developing nation. After 54 years of independence Nigeria is still struggling to stand on both feet. I must admit that the issue of Biafra has always been difficult to the southeasterners. As for me, Biafra will always be dear to my heart for I grew up with the touching war stories. Nevertheless, Biafra was a situational approach to a problem, and even its founding father, Gen Ojukwu, accepted that our beloved Biafra became memories. That’s why he ran for executive presidency in 2003. Ojukwu’s wife Bianca after his death was made the Nigerian Ambassador to Spain. His son, Mr Emeka Ojukwu, contested in the 2015 Federal House of Representatives election in Nnewi North and South constituency. These actions by the supposed Biafra leaders mean they now believe in Nigeria and its unity. Can anyone beat their chest and say Chief Uwazurike won’t accept a presidential ticket of the APC or the PDP if given? If no, then who is fooling who? My dear brothers from the east! Let us start seeing Nigeria as an organic whole. After all, the first President of Nigeria, Ifeanyi Ubah, an Igbo man, grew rich in Nigeria. Prince Arthur Eze is also an Igbo that made his money here in Nigeria, not in Biafra. A lot of people got rich without clamouring for Biafra. And who said we can’t join them? Umu nwannem, I can assure you today that we can. Biafra does not guarantee you absolute success. Umu nnem, I urge us to “stick with the devil we know rather than the angel we don’t.” Let us see ourselves, Yorubas, Hausas and other ethnic groups in this country as one indivisible Nigeria. Together we can fulfill our founding fathers’ dreams. May God be with us all.

It's funny how people are asking Igbos to forget Biafra , yet, the Nigeria they want Igbos to accept is a complete 102 year old disaster. I wonder if these people have any sense? You have been trying to make something work for 102 years but no headway. You continue doing the same thing. How long before you try something else? Nigeria is but a disasterous British experiment started by Lugard, it did not work. It is time for Igbos to return to the confederation they were before Lugard merged them with 'strangers' called Yorubas and Hausa/Fulani.

When Nigeria breaks up,via referendum, I see possibly 5 countries emerging

1) Oduduwa Repuplic consisting on the present SW with Kwara, Yoruba speaking parts of Kogi, Edo and possibly Urohbo and Itsekiri.

2) Arewa Republic consisting of the NW/NE and much of the NC

3) Izon Republic consisting of all the Ijaws in Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Ondo. Possibly with Ogoni.

4) Oyono Republic, should Akwa-Cross and Ogoja refuse to join Igbos in Biafra Republic, then they are most likely to end up as Oyono Republic

5) Republic of Biafra, consisting of the present dat SE, Anioma, the Igbos of the lower Benue, Rivers Igbos. Possibly with Igala/Idoma/Igede

Emancipation:
Yes, this should be common sense but because of unreasonable people, I have to make this clear. There is no way any state government in the south east or south south will support Biafra. They were sworn in to serve and protect the integrity of Nigeria. So it makes absolutely no sense when people keep quoting governors statement as a pointer when most of these same governors cant even pull 1/10 of the crowd Nnamdi Kanu pulls without having to rent it.

These Governors cannot afford to bite the hands that feed them. Even the soldiers that protects their lives take orders directly from the Federal government.

But the good thing is that NOBODY needs their support. This is a grass root movement devoid of political elites and mostly led by young men and women from the SE/SS who have said enough is enough with the continuation of a fraudulent contraption. This young people are selfless and fighting for the freedom of future generation while some people sit on the sidelines to condemn them. They will succeed because they are fighting a just fight.
Naturally, a politician who is gaining in Nigeria will never support a Biafra that stop all that. But Biafra isn't about a few elites out there, it's about the common man who has since lost faith that any good will come out of Nigeria

Which referendum?

Lol. We don't want to leave Nigeria. We love Nigeria. We only want Nigeria to be restructured into a true federalism with resource control and autonomy. That is our agitation and that, we shall get eventually. We don't delude ourselves by planing to secede and commit treason. We are not saboteurs and terrorists. We are peace loving and we shall get what we want one day, however long it takes.

We can't leave one form of Hausa domination and run to Igbo domination. Never! We are not fools.

This oil that is making us swell will soon be irrelevant and it is only in Nigeria that we will survive the famine that'll follow.
We don't want leave Nigeria? Who is we? I hope you know that as far as self determination is concerned, you can only speak for your tribe? You are not allowed to speak for anybody else. There are over 49 tribes in the proposed Biafra of which Igbo is only one. So in the end, a referendum will be held and those who are not interested can vote to remain in Nigeria or simply abstain from voting. Those who vote to join are those who will be accepted. So no one in Delta state has anything to worry about. You guys can then carry on fighting for restructuring in Nigeria.

Don't mind them my brother. Let them rant all they want.

My own is simple: Urhobo can never be a part of Biafra. Isoko can never be a part of Biafra. Any other tribe can join but let them leave us alone. To start with, we only tolerate Igbos due to proximity. We cant let them dictate what we should do or where to go. They can't dominate us in anything. The so-called Asaba, though an igbo city, is highly saturated by Urhobos. We control the civil service, the judiciary, the legislature and the government. Pidgin is the lingua franca of Asaba. There's nothing in Asaba that we can't find in Warri. So if Asaba people want to join Biafra, like ikechu1 always argues, let them. Biafra will still be landlocked even with Delta North and Ikwerre! grin

I'm tired of this Biafra poo. Some peeps need to really face reality and focus of better things rather than unleash propaganda because GEJ lost an election. Attempting to annex any tribe that doesn't want to be annexed will be resisted. Even the so-called Delta Igbos are not interested in Biafra. It is those Anambrarians who flood Asaba like leeches that are making noise here. Go to real Asaba quarters like Ezenei, Umuagu, and other towns like Illah, Ibusa, Agbor, etc and you'll see that they are quite indifferent to the Biafran cause. It is the South easterners that kill themselves over spilled blood.
Which is why when the referendum on the lower Niger comes, you should encourage your people to vote to remain in Nigeria. Biafra is not by force.

You keep making these northerners sound like some form of gods... Inferiority complex and a defeatist attitude is all I read in your comments; and this is a problem faced by the entire south, believing and fearing the northerners as though they were gods of some sort whose decision is final.

Meanwhile your submission doesn't add up, you do not think it is possible to achieve regional rule, but you think it is possible to have outright secession?... The fact is that you are just obsessed with the idea of an exit cos your above assumptions are illogical.

For a secession to succeed, the SE absolutely needs the support of at least the SS and SW, but you and I know the SW and even majority of the SS isn't buying the whole secession idea. (if anyone thinks by any chance that the SS is actually interested in secession, I would simply advise such a person to travel and interact more). A desire which is common with the SS, SE and SW is the return of regionalism (or resource control as the SS would prefer to call it). I also do not doubt the desire of the middle-belt states (Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Plateau, Nassarawa) to return to regionalism also if they had the chance. If any form of restructure is to be achieved, the cooperation of more than one zone is needed, and the only way to get people to cooperate is to offer everyone something which is mutually desired (this concept shouldn't be difficult to understand). Since the SW, middle-belt and even the majority of the SS aren't down for secession, the logic of 'regionalism' being more achievable than secession shouldn't be difficult to understand.
Wake up and smell the coffee. Nigeria is the illegal creation of the White man. You cannot get legality out of illegality, that's why the very existence of Nigeria is a fraud. The only way to make Nigeria legal is to ask the indigenous ethic groups that Lugard stole their lands to create Nigeria, if they want to continue with the union or if they want leave, via referendum. Any other thing is a waste of time.

Nice one. Our problems have always been the fact that our leaders made wrong choices. I believe, had Aguiyi Ironsi executed the coupists, it would have gone a long way in pacifying the country. I weep whenever I remember that man, he was a martyr; but I learnt an important lesson from his story.
That is nonsense. There are many instances all over the world were it can take over a year to prosecute coup plotters. But Ironsi was killed within 6 months. Another thing about the coup was unlike most coups that happened in Nigeria, this one was againt a civilian regime. Someone like Nzeogwu had huge following in the Army, it would have been a tricky venture for Ironsi to have executed him. Even if Ironsi had executed the Coupist, it still wouldn't have pacified the North because they had already tagged the coup an 'Igbo coup'. If history has taught Nigerians anything, it is that the North are never happy when a Southerner becomes president and they start from day one to plot that persons removal

The point is that, as hard as it may seem to achieve regionalism, achieving regionalism is far more easier and safer than having outright disintegration.

Furthermore, contrary to general beliefs about the core north holding the aces, the truth is that the only impediment to the return of regionalism is the foolishness of the southern blocks (especially the SW and SE) to unite and demand regionalism; even the middle-belt is tired of the domination of the core north and would swing with the south IF only the south can do the sensible thing.
Wrong! The North knows that there is little or no difference in eventual secession and Regionalism. Let's say Regionalism returned and the Igbos had their own region, how long do you think it will be before someone moves a motion of independence from Nigeria in the Igbo Regional parliament? Have we forgotten that the immidiate reason why Ojukwu declared was because Gowon abolished the Regions and created States? Divide and rule is how the Northerners maintain political control of Nigeria and they will never allow true federalism to take that away from them. So the only alternative is for the people to either accept the status quo or agitate to exit the Nigerian union.
