nengibo:"I get am before no be property" There is nobody currently agitating for any Niger Delta Republic. That idea died with Isaac Boro. |
Ovokoo:What is the point of this? Dont you know that even Ojukwu once believed in Nigeria? Besides, Kanu never called for the unity of Nigeria in the video. What he said was that Boko Haram can tear the country apart, which it eventually did. |
Igbos have lost a lot of souls just because the British made them part of this disgrace of a country called Nigeria. |
nengibo:Do you see anybody in the so called Niger Delta agitating for Niger Delta Republic? |
In other to restructure Nigeria, the current structure has to be removed from the constitution and replaced with the new "restructured" one. To do this, a motion to restructure must be moved in house of representatives and approved by at least a two thirds majority. Nigeria has 360 house of rep members. Two thirds of 360 is 240. Therefore it means that 240 is the magic number of votes that must be reached before Nigeria can be restructured. The biggest opponents of restructuring are the core North or the NW & NE. There are some in the NC who oppose it but Im going to assume that it is only the core North that are against restructuring. Below are core Norths voting power at the House of Reps in terms of states. The North West: North East: Jigawa- 11 Bauchi- 12 Kano- 24 Gombe- 6 Kaduna- 16 Borno- 10 Zamfara- 17 Yobe- 6 Kebbi- 8 Adamawa-8 Sokoto- 11 Taraba- 6 Katsina- 15 ------- ------ 102 48 102 + 48= 150 When you subtract 150 from 360 this leaves 210 which is not up to the 240 needed to pass the bill on restructuring. In other words, even if the entire SW, SE, SS and the NC voted at the house of representatives in favour of restructuring, it would not be enough unless they managed to attract at least another 30 votes from either the NW or NE which is impossible. Anyone talking about restructuring should forget it. |
conductor5:Lol |
BiafranPrince:How did the Umueze-Okoha people end up in Benue? These are ethnic Igbos of the Ezzi/Ezzamgbo people. How can these people be in Benue and not Ebonyi? Was someone drunk when they were carved into Benue? Chei! Whenever Igbos get their independence, they will be returned to the Igbo nation. |
I think that the South East is doing fairly well on all indices. However, the so called 'South East' is not the same as 'Igbo land' Igbos are indigenous to Delta, Edo, Benue and Rivers state. |
HopeAtHand:Oh come of it. You are not fooling anyone with the above. You did not complain when Lord Lugard drew a map called Nigeria and put you people in it You did not complain when Gowon drew a map called Rivers state and put you people in it You did not complain when Abacha drew a map called 'South South' and put you people in it. But as soon as Kanu and IPOB drew their own map, thats when you suddenly realised that you have 'sensibilities' and you were not consulted? Lol You think this is just about if Igbos get Biafra or not? They will one day. This has become more about if the minorities of Southern become slaves of the North. Lets face it, the moinorities have very slim choices, breakout with Igbos or stay in Nigeria and keep begging the North for resource control/restructuring. There is no third choice. So nobody is consulting you about nothing, you guys should have decided by now what you want. |
luluman:Of course! Same as Ojukwu who one believed in Nigeria but got tired of his people being killed and tried to pull them out. Nobody ever supports forever something that is not working out, except a fool. A time will come when patience will run out and you say 'Im out!' It happend with Ojukwu and Kanu. Even I once believed in One Nigeria. Now I think it is the worst thing to have ever happend to my fellow Igbos |
HopeAtHand:What are you buying him beer for? You are not ashamed that someone else has to remind you of your right to self determination? |
luluman:Watch the video, he never preached unity. He only said that if the Boko haram/herdsmen attack continues, it will tear Nigeria apart. And thats what exactly happend. |
luluman:So they told you that a human being is never permited to change their mind about something? Have ever seen or heard of someone who has never changed their mind in their life? |
ShootToKill:I also saw an interview on TVC where a young man who claimed to be the leader of the Ijaw youth congress said that Ijaws are not Biafrans and there will be no referendum in Ijawland. The same day he said this, Asari Dokubo came out in an interview to reaffairm that him and the Ijaw nation are Biafrans. Am I to believe Asari Dokubo who has actually fought in the creeks or am I to believe a small boy who has never fought for anything? It is incredible how stupid some of these people in the so called Niger Delta are. Some of them are the biggest losers in Nigeria, yet, they say will continue to remain in Nigeria and continue losing. Some of them like Tonyebarcanister or whatever his name is have the vision of "one Nigeria'" where everybody will be begging the North for resource control/restructuring and hopefully, maybe the North will agree to this one thousand years from now. Lol My grandfather used to say 'you can only save someone who wants to be saved' Maybe it is just the destiny of some of the tribes in the Niger Delta to be providing the Oil money needed to be running the 44 Local Govts of Kano. Who are we to judge? One thing I know is that eventually, everybody will finally come to the realisation that the core North will never allow any restructuring of Nigeria. When that time comes, every ethnic group in the Niger Delta will face the same question Ojukwu faced 50 years ago.... "Do I submit myself to be a slave of the North or do I fight for my sovereignty?" |
I hope those who say "Ojukwu started a war" have read the above? The Nigerian Government started the war when it first fired on Gakem in Biafra on the 6th of July 1967 |
michaelwilli:Do you think he would have been there if he hadnt been in the Nigerian Army? |
The oil producing areas have benefitted nothing from Nigeria. They are the biggest losers in Nigeria, but they deserve it. When Ojukwu was fighting to free them from the grip of the Northern Caliphate of Sokoto, they thought Ojukwu was an opportunist. So they helped Nigeria win, and have been paying the price ever since. |
Funny thing is that if you ask the 58% how they are going to get restructuring with the core north against it, nobody can answer |
Abagworo:As I said before, even the great Ojukwu once belived in Nigerias unity. So even Kanuhimself once did, its no biggy. What matters is now, not then |
Kanu wasnt even preaching for Nigerias unity in the video, he was demonstrating against herdsmen attacks |
Even Ojukwu once believed in ONE NIGERIA. He even joined the Nigerian Army and fought for Nigeria in the Congo But he later changed his mind |
igbodefender:No need for any consultation. Its either you are happy with Nigeria and want to stay, or you are unhappy and want to go |
This the 21st century but barbarians who call themselves Nigerians still engage in jungle justice. How terrible. What would Europeans think of Nigerians if they saw these pictures? When Nnamdi Kanu calls you Nigerians wild animals in the zoo, you take offense. Only a barbarian engages or supports jungle justice of any form and it is a sheme that successive governments have not come out forcefully to put an end to it. |
I support Biafra because if Gambia of 1.8 million can be a country, then the 45 million strong Igbo nation is over due for their own country. |
Kanu wants a referendum, it is Nigerians calling for war like they always do. |
igbodefender:Under Nigerian law, being born in any Nigerian territory guaratees you automatic Nigerian citizenship. An Igbo like me who was born in the North will always be entitled to Nigerian citizenship (not that I want anyway) even Igbo land becomes Biafra However, needing visa to go to Nigeria from Biafra is a small price to pay for freedom |
Why did God allow me to be born in a country country of barbarians called Nigerians? Look at how people are watching jungle justice like they are watching a street show. Chei! Barbarians! |
EzeUche:Thats true. She never denied her Igbo heritage, she denied being a Nigerian. |
igbodefender:Election boycott is legal, there is nothing to arrest over it. |
I dont blame her, who wants to be associated with a failed entity? |
igbodefender:Oh really? The ask for restructuring and see if you will get it. |
igbodefender:As long as anyone is in Nigeria, they will always be under the Sokoto caliphate. |
