locodemy: Devil, get behind me.i know its not this brother that is speaking but you the evil one.Dont you think i know your plight? To you my fellow nairalanders, shine your eyes, fcmb is the only kobo bank stock you can play and be safe for a minimum of two years then we will review it again to know if it is still sustainable.make una shine una eyes o.plenty people here and outside this forum know i have been specific, truitful emphasizing on just a particular stock that is trading below below below its book value(EPS of 0.97 kobo no be moi moi). We are in the same boat bro . Instead from FCMB going from N1.00 to N1.30 straight, I would prefer it comes down to even N0.8 (and I buy) before reversing and going to N1.30. For the very big guys, their biggest disadvantage is size, we should make it count against them and for us. They have been exiting. Look at the past 3 annual reports and see hoe they have been reducing their stakes. Withdraw ur bids and see what will happen. |

Tritri: @locodemy who are those selling fcmb for 1 naira since over 1 week? Hope not insiders who knew abt the result? I think its the foreign investors exiting. They are tired of Emefiele/Buhari and their currency controls. The transaction volumes we are having now is the highest in 3 months and its in periods like this that they come out to sell. That's why people like Loco should stop bidding for it at N1.00/N0.99, allow it fall a little to N0.9, Bid at N0.9 and provide liquidity for them to exit at that price. If to say na only me dey this market, I'll be willing to provide liquidity for the foreign investors for FCMB only at N0.8, hold thereafter and sleep. That'll be tantamount to a bonanza for me after currency floatation when they'll all rush back to enter. |

jumboo: There are components that should be added to PAT and there are components that should be taken to OCI. All the banks do this and it's subsumed somewhere in the notes or presented as a separate line item. Like Access bank's 2016 audited statement which you mentioned reporting separately, they made a FX loss and its part of PAT (Check note 12). Check same note 12 on Diamond bank: " Net trading income on foreign exchange and financial assets held for trading includes the gains and losses arising both on the purchase and sale of trading instruments and from changes in fair value. "
There may be manipulations in the underlying records but the treatment is right per accounting standards Banks can report it either way and still not run foul of the regulations in each case. Accountants in the house pls educate us more. |

Tritri: @austinkenneth Devaluation is something every investor should be worried about..what happened 2016 might repeat itself and it an opportunity for some though.
@BullBearMkt Honestly duni04 is right on this. look at my post below before market closed. this stuff are actually pumped and i know it. I think if we float, we will easily have an "Eqypt situation" where a massive 50% uplift (~8000 to ~12000) was recorded in EGX30 after currency floatation. So it means the EGX 30 served as a devaluation hegde in Egypt. So will NSE in Nigeria. Emefiele will tire. |

DeRuggedProf: JUST THINKING: Every year a stock does magic, that if one identified early, would have greatly profited him. Can we suggest and analyse to benefit us here? At times, some people may have hidden/insider knowledge or just amazingly interesting insights
Last year, DANGFLOUR moved below N1.00 to over N4.00. I almost took a cutlass to question the elders in my village.... That journey was done through level grounds, hills and valleys. It was like magic. At times the fundamentals, at other times the Technicals threw us all overboard on that journey, our life jacket was our STOP LOSS and POSITION SIZES....
Which stock do we think will do this in 2017 or are all stocks presently overvalued?
Lets kick start an interesting discussion... VERY GOOD! PLS LETS HAVE A DISCUSSION ON THIS! I think we should just be careful the way we JIJO from one "hot" stock to another but rather stop and calculate carefully the cost of changing positions. From FCMB to Fidelity to Diamond to FBN to Transcorp. May be crowd will come back to FCMB and the cycle continues. The bottom line is that all these banks are trading at very good valuations. We should rather spread our risk and grab as much as possible and await a DEVALUATION BULL which will surely come when Emefiele gets tired and puts the currency on full float. The real JIJO guys are the insiders who see this results before the masses and pump, making us believe there is something in the offing and then dump on the suckers with a lot of mechanisms(spoofing & layering, stuffing etc) that are not yet "illegal" here in Nigeria. A lot of us if we can be sincere have been had by these insiders who are the ultimate winners: Pump, sell on suckers, release bad result, buy back from suckers at lower prices. Dump, buy at lower prices, release good result, sell on suckers at higher prices. Or simply, pump, dump on suckers Our brokers are smiling because they are also the ultimate winners in this thing (JI+JO commissions). Makes me remember the days when I was a Snooker & Table tennis boardman. I was easily the best performer/money maker among all those that came to gamble on my boards but no one knew but me. I think the real deal this year will be CURRENCY FLOATATION ( DEVALUATION OR WHAT YOU WILL) WHICH WILL SEND THE FOREIGNERS BACK IN. Before then, the market will trade sideways and pump/dump and JIJO frenzy will continue not necessarily to our gain. |

Hello Ladies and Gents,
Please can something be done about the position of this tread in the Investment section of nairaland. The tread is currently mixed up in th same section with all manner of ponzi schemes and very very shady deals.
I think the admin should make it a permanent number 1 on the front page of this section.
This is the longest thread that I have seen in this forums and the most educative for me. I see several intelligent minds here and I respect that a lot. The Information sharing that I see on here is second to none.
I propose we all look at this and see what we can do. I'm tired of scrolling through ponzi schemes to get to this very useful tread especially during weekends. |

DeRuggedProf: This was the same scenario in UCAP. In this season, they will recommend stocks like FMN, WAPCO, NB, DANGCEM, Guiness etc etc etc ( ON POTENTIALS) that may TYPICALLY under perform both in dividend yield and capital appreciation till the dividend season is over, then still shed their excess fat. They will sell them to you and buy ZENITH/GTB/UBA/UCAP/FCMB etc etc . - By the time they have netted 17%-21% there, they will start recommending them to go back to where they left you to keep guard. - You will then discount at least 15% for them to take their load. All these happen with commissions both ways. - I use brokers to decipher what not to buy. - my broker adviced me strongly against buying FCMB at N1.00 but recommended FO/GUINNESS/WAPCO etc. I instantly knew FCMB was the deal.
Good description of what happens. This guys do not have the interest of the investor at heart
DISCL: I am not recommending. I have ZENITH/GTB/FCMB/UCAP. I may not offload any until I see the audited results MYSELF. |

angelo82: See how NSE take call passengers for different buses and now dump them before their bus stop.Anyway the truth is big pocket trader don hold their cash to control the crazy bull before it hit them hard on their head. I keep saying it here. The BIG folks drive up prices, and with liquidity. Than they sell out their massive holdings in the elevated prices and liquidity. Some folks who get sucked up in the vortex will cry later. This bull run happens most Januarys on the NSE. |
