The last call he made about USD/GBP with so much noise made nonsense out of him. Never take him serious.

Meanwhile those in severe loss in the market should take heart...I hope to resume loading stocks in December/January

This next level is simply buy in January and exit in March/April...Nigeria is now a portfolio country.

For me i have no issue withy market being down for long, as it helps me to buy quality assets at a cheaper price but Devaluation is a no no for me. I was a big time victim in 2015/16 which saw my networth seriously decimated compared to my colleagues. I was actually full time learner then and unfortunately, i experienced it with my hard earned money instead of learning from others to avoid it. The senior friends and colleagues who were older saw it coming and used it to their advantage. Its so pathethic for some of us, sweating and working very hard to save crumbs to invest in naira assets with the hope of cash flow to pay our bills and other expenses that are funded in forex only to see such investment decimated when you tried to repatriate those funds. I was still lucky compared to an elderly friend in Aberdeen who had a good plan to establish a boutique in every capital of the 36 states and FCT, unfortunately this guy and his family was worst hit with the devaluation during that time, imagine them buying goods at the rate of 200+/GBP only to repatriate the funds back to Uk at the rate of 500+/GBP. They had to start closing down all the boutiques one after the other and worse of it all, the guy lost his lucrative job during that oil crises in Aberdeen. The family was hit both ways, the wife shedding tears and they were both depressed. Since that time, i fear DEVALUATION with every breath in me. Once i hear DE, i jaa without listening to the remaining VALUATION.
Are there some NSE stocks that are DEVALUATION HEDGEShuh

On 9th of July post made by you, you wrote that stocks on Stage 4 should not be bought. That your followers should buy stock on stage 2. FCMB was on stage 4 according to you(based on your TA). And now from this post you stated thst your followers can buy FCMB based on your projected Half year PAT (based on your FA).

Isn't there a conflict you should resolve?

Thanks Rabbi,

In one of the write-ups, I pointed out the fact that one can buy in any stage if you detect that stage 5 pattern has form or is about to form. If we are to wait for stage 2, we will not buy anything in this our Nigeria market for a long time. At the moment no stock is in stage 2. See my posting of 13th June 2019, where this was explained.

God bless you
Bottom line is that everyone is CONFUSED right now in the market. Even the bonanza crew are watching in awe.

The market has remained down longer than any FA or TA can justify.

If not that the down market is affecting everyone, some of us would have been wondering whether we are being followed from the village grin grin grin

First Registrars surprised me.
I just gave it a trial, filled my e-dividend form, uploaded and sent to them by mail, not expecting anything to happen.
Surprise Number 1: They acknowledged my mail. I was like.. shocked
Surprise Number 2: I got paid of fidelity dividend that I wasnt expecting. A confirmation that they processed my Form. shocked shocked
I'm impressed, not about the dividend but much more about the seamless e-dividend registration....no shareholder's acct number, no signature specimen, no valid means of ID, etc.
I think this is an improvement and hope other registrars emulate this.
(Although I have account with them, maybe that's what made it easier cos they have my details, I dont know) Just had to add this.
Just sharing to encourage someone. grin

There is something you are hiding and its like you are a stakeholder of Afrinvest. Why did Afrinvest terminate the fund prior to listing and gave excuses of devaluation then when it was already bought in dollars and those that bought with StanbicIBTC own was not terminated and they were able to trade it when MTN finally listed on NSE and also enjoyed their annual dividends from that 2007 till date. What is the challenges that Afrinvest MTN investors faced that StanbicIBTC MTN investors did not faced which made Afrinvest to terminate the deal abruptly.
Hope you also know that what Afrinvest is trying to also do with this Airtel is to pool funds together and buy it from London stock exchange in foreign currency and i hope similar fate wont befall those that buy into it and give excuses of devaluation again when the time comes.
Thank you my brother. You have full information.

The Nigerian investment climate is littered with sharks, jackals, vultures, land mines, earthquakes etc. U have to be very careful so that of one doesn't get you, another wouldn't also get u.

Afrinvest executed a scam on it's customers. It just fvcked them when it saw the opportunity of naira depreciation.

This confirmed to me that not only do we have them sharks, jackals, vultures, land mines, earthquakes etc, the more dangerous thing about them is they tend to evolve.

Afrinvest started with something good but evolved into something else in the deal to the detriment of its customers. Today, it serves it's customers well in many respects.

StanbicIBTC didn't do so......maybe because it isn't a fully Nigerian company.

Sovereign Trust Commenced its rights issue yesterday. Shareholders are entitled to 1 ordinary share of 50k for every 2 ordinary shares of 50k held as at January 19, 2019. Rights issue price is 50k per share. It closed trading today at 23k per share.

If you understand NSE, this is the time to exit the shares that has stagnated in lower 20ks as I believe it may eventually get to 35k-40k before the rights issue closes on July 31, 2019.

I have seen these guys at AGMs. Infact their attitude is why I do not attend AGMs.

They always rubber stamp everything the management brings. They are so much concerned about collecting souvenirs and annual reports (which they never read). They all seem to be happy to just participate in the AGM process.

Their action make the serious investors loose hope and decline to attend meetings just the same way the knowledgeable ones have been 'chased' out of politics in Nigeria.

Believe me, most of them so not know anything serious about investments.

They play a serious part in the rot that in the NSE.

Did SEC DG got fair hearing before proceeding on his suspension?
Did Intercontinental bank and Oceanic bank CEO got fair hearing before visiting EFCC, Nigeria will only grant you fair hearing inside EFCC cell.
Did Skybank get opportunity like Diamond bank before disappearing in the field of NSE.
Nigeria give grace to those that they choose and deny those they wishes, things are politicize.

Oando have poor management I agreed and really deserved the punishment, years without dividend to their investors, borrowing upon borrowing without direction or near future hope of dividend payment, but why did government waited till this moment to strike? Election has come and gone. I remembered how the Emir of Kano, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II intervene, when the issue of Alhaji Dahiru Mangal and Oando was going on https://t.guardian.ng/news/sanusi-settles-oando-dispute-as-firm-considers-appointment-of-mangal-representative-on-board/

Which one of the solution was that the Oando board of directors will consider the appointment of representation for Alhaji Mangal to the Board. The representation will take the form of directorship from qualified individuals nominated by Alhaji Mangal. Which I believed that the representative has resumed work since last year. And will be ripe to take over from Tunubu if need be.

Fair hearing is usually not available in Nigeria, if you are in good book of government in power you smile, but if you are not, sorry is your name, election has come and gone, building up of 2023 has started, Nigeria politician never waste time.

http://africanorbit.com/news/543/how-access-bank-fraudulently-took-over-intercontinental-bank-the-bukola-saraki-lamido-sanusi-script.html

Hope Access bank is still in good book with Federal government since the embattled Emir of Kano and outgoing senate president had romance with the bank in the past and both are now in PDP, and seen to be enemy of government at the center. Nigeria has many issues, but one thing is sure, and that's "What Goes Around Comes Around".
For info lets all note that the abrupt removal of the SEC DG is responsible for a lot of things we suffer today.

First among them is the current bear market. The removal was the last straw for a lot of foreign investors who just couldn't take it anymore and started their gradual exit. That action is very symbolic, it means the Regulated is more than the Regulator.

It means the companies can continue to fvck shareholders several times over like they have done in the past.

Even the registrars are Lords unto themselves not to talk about companies. Take for instance the ongoing battle people are having with United Securities as regards recovering their N1 following the Access merger.

Someone in SEC even mentioned unofficially that one of the reasons for the removal of the DG was his big move to reduce unclaimed dividends. Vested interests were against it and had marked him down for dealing with and thus were happy when the Oando case removed him.

His reinstatement is one of the best things Buhari has done this year.

Next week I am buying MTN... Institutional investors will want MTN in their portfolio for long term play.

MTN never wanted to list their shares...FG forced them to it. After listing you cannot force them to selI.

What is it with we Nigerians crying everytime and wanting all things in our favour. MTN has listed and the shareholders have the right to sell or not to sell. Those asking shareholders to sell, if you had shares in MTN below N90 will you have sold on listing.

Same people asking for IPO are the same people that would cry tomorrow that MTN is devaluing their shares by going for IPO if they had shares in MTN.

If MTN S.A decides to leave Nigeria on Monday, how much do you think they would sell their shares?

For me, I will look to buy next week.
Have you finished buying Dangote flour? If you change ur mind abt Dangote flour, please let me know so I can sell the small one I've bought so far.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by austinkenneth: 6:16pm On May 15, 2019
Yesterday I went searching for info on the previous divestment of Dangote from this company.

Tiger brands bought 63% of the shares of this company at $182m--> $289m for 100% of the company (NB: this is equity value)

Now Olam is offering N130bn enterprise value. This is estimated to be adjusted down equity value of N126bn ($350m) from the calculations on this forum.

Now the question I asked myself is: If Alhaji accepted and equivalence of $289m in 2012 for 100% of the company, why would he reject $350m for the same company in 2019 ( CAGR~3%) after getting the same company back from Tiger Brands in 2015 under very favourable terms (for ~$77m)?

i think ur figure is correct going by current financials

where the risk is largely situated is if Alhaji does not accept the offer or ask for higher price and olam rejected (note it is only the N26 that is binding on Olam) if u also rememeber something similar happened to Alhaji of recent when he made a binding offer for a cement coy / plant on southafrica and the coy requested for higher pricing which Alhaji did not agree with hence the deal failed.

a lesser risk is that of long drawn / prolonged payment even if the deal scales through.

i think this two risk is what is being priced in and why the price on NSE is not closing in on the N21-25

so the question for you wld be how SURE are you that Alhaji wld accept the N26 / N130b offer

and are you ready to wait for the prolonged period before the cash is paid if the deal scales through? (particulary in this period of cash being king?)

N.b im a foot deep so my view might be tinted / biased
Do you think they reached a landing with Alhaji before making that bid? I would normally think so but I don't know.

with a FY2018 PAT of N145b and 1st quarter of N48b extrapolating, the best that could come from MTNN FY2019 wld be N200b which wld give EPS of N10 which gives P/ E ratio of 9, with a payout ratio of 80% dat is N8/ share at introductory price of N90 gives a dividend yield of 8.88%, the PBV while not available wld not look good also considering that the company is quite leveraged due to easy access to debt (probably one of the best entity any bank in Nigeria can lend to presently)and hence it is exposed to easy and favourable credit terms.

In view of the fact that the above figures qouted are the best estimate (which means the figure can only get worse and not better) then in my opinion the price of N90 had already priced in ALL FAVOURABLE FACTORS.

The rational decision (from fundamental perspective) wld be to leeave the thing alone becos there are other well tested shares in the market with more favourable metrics like div yield of 14%, p/bv less than 1, P/E of sub 5, and also favourable liquidity.

However i think from technical / jijo perspective it wld be a good one considering the hype and sentiment surrounding it

Finally personally i would take the advise of one prof here who said it is a dangerous venture to pursue a moving train.

my prayer is that the listing should bring in more players to the NSE which could possibly rub off on other shares
Roger that!!!

They have started with their estimates... Retail investors may not get this one until they have taken it to 180-200 grin grin grin

https://businessday.ng/technology/article/updated-offers-fly-in-from-investors-ahead-of-mtns-listing/

MTN would be listing about 20.35 billion shares, at possibly an N80-90/share price range, according to the consensus analysts’ estimates.

That would value the stock at around 5 times Earnings Before Interest Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA). That’s almost half the frontier average, suggesting that at N90 per share, MTN will be undervalued compared to telecommunication companies in frontier markets.
Analysts at Cordros Capital believe the stock is worth NGN194 per share, implying a 116-143 percent upside on the proposed listing price.

On this basis, it is quite understandable that investors are falling over one another to get a hold on MTNN’s stock.
If they take it to N180, they should better be ready to support it there themselves with their money.

They'll be expecting the retail investor to buy from them at N180. Dem no serious.

This stock is setting itself up to trade below listing price. A good number of retail investors today are experienced. They are battle tested from the 2007 era. They wouldn't bulge until it goes below listing price.

Afterall, how many stock a trading above their listing/IPO/PO prices?
