Being a programmer ,this one in particular makes me blush.

Its another awesome project Elon is involved in.It is called OpenAI, a non-profit AI research company with a major goal “making Artificial Intelligence safe and beneficial to everyone” .So we don’t get annihilated by robots *winks* .

The question on your mind now is “how would this be beneficial in transportation ?”.

Here is the answer:

All the aforementioned need something to run them;Tesla or any autonomous car,Hyperloop and the underground tunnel system.Bringing in the human factor would make things really slow,and in some cases inefficient and unsafe.Controlling everything with safe AI(Artificial Intelligence) makes the whole system more efficient and safer.

Imagine a system where you can just go underground when there is too much traffic on your way to Ikorodu ?,this is the aim of the Boring Company.To ease transportation and congestion .

Let me simplify it ,imagine the entire third mainland bridge is under ground (as a tunnel),now imagine about 10-20 layers,then imagine how much benefit that would bring in easing congestion in major cities around the world.

To solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic, roads must go 3D, which means either flying cars or tunnels. Unlike flying cars, tunnels are weatherproof, out of sight and won’t fall on your head. A large network of tunnels many levels deep would fix congestion in any city, no matter how large it grew (just keep adding levels).

2.Hyperloop

Hyperloop is a system of transportation that involves moving people and things from one place to another through tubes at very high speeds.Speeds as much as 1200km/h !!.This would change everything !.It would reduce the time we spend on the road and also increase our productivity.

1.Tesla

You have probably heard about this already.If you haven’t, Tesla is a company that makes electric,autonomous and semi-autonomous cars .Isn’t that awesome !,no fuel,no pollution.

All you have to do is charge the car and drive for miles before needing another recharge.

Elon! Elon!! Elon !!!,I want to be like you when I grow up .This guy is changing the world and how we interact with it .

Even though there are some creepy things he believes in that I don’t agree with,like the time he said we are all living in a simulation,seriously !.There are some things he has done and still doing, that would change the way we travel and transport people and things.

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet is designed as an electric car. The drive system has an output of 750 hp (550 kW). The shallow underfloor battery allows a range of over 500 kilometres according to the NEDC (over 200 miles according to EPA).

The elegant cabriolet debuted at the Monterey Car Week, which took place on the Monterey Peninsula in California. The final event wasvthe traditional Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which took place on 20th of August.

“The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet takes modern luxury into the realms of the ultimate in luxury, and is the perfect embodiment of our design strategy. Breathtaking proportions combined with a luxurious “haute couture” interior help to create the ultimate experience,” explains Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer of Daimler AG.

Exterior: powerful structural elements with sharp feature line

Measuring almost six metres in length, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet incorporates the classic proportions of art deco design with its extremely long bonnet and puristic, flowing lines, and at the same time completely reinterprets these aesthetic principles. The curved basic body boasts a sporty, stretched design which is characterised by powerful structural elements in conjunction with the sharp feature line. This side feature line defines the upper vehicle body, from the radiator grille across the entire length of the vehicle through to the rear.

With the new Rolls Royce Phantom fever in the air, a car designer, XTomi. imagined a Rolls Royce Phantom ‘Drophead’ Coupe.

It’s probably going to be a foldable soft-top similar to the current model but some changes will be made to improve its performance, it will use the new 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 engine making 563hp and 663lb-ft of torque.

The design, if noticed, has its rear and front fenders longer.

Can you imagine you driving on Nigeria road in your Audi and suddenly a car hits you.

Instead of you complaining, your car just repairs itself automatically, not only that, your car changes colors while driving.

This is what Spanish designer Daniel Garcia was thinking of when he created this awesome concept design for Audi.

He got some inspiration for this particular design from Santiago Calatrava’s buildings in his hometown of Valencia.

Audi seems to be an innovation enclave on its own with different amazing concepts it develops these days.

Toyota Automaker has just copyrighted a new idea. It’s the “Under-Seat Capture Device“.

This device tackles the problem virtually all motorists face in the driving years. It’s a device that retrieves items that fall between the car seat and the center console, wise huh?

Although Toyota hasn’t said anything about manufacturing this product, but would you love this device?

Honda, one of the most driven car brand in Nigeria, if you ever owned a Honda Jazz, well the old one, you may want to know that the 2018 model has been revealed.

Dubbed 2018 Honda Jazz, it was released ahead of the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Much has been updated in the Jazz, the most satisfactory is the the exterior that has the ‘Solid Wing Face‘ headlight signature and grille that runs in the Honda family.

The new Honda Jazz got its interior touched up too, at least technologically, it now has cruise control, automatic headlights, City-Brake Active safety system, a 7-inch Honda Connect infotainment system, rear-view parking camera, keyless entry and start, and most importantly, advanced safety technologies such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Honda’s upgraded engines reduce fuel consumption and Co2 emissions and also produces 128hp although the the 100hp engine will still be available.

The most significant difference is the sport has appealing body kits and sporty look but those who take bad roads regularly may not like the lower ground clearance. You can budget about N3m whether you are buying the LE or SE.

One of the most important checks you should carry out when buying your tokunbo or some Nigerian used cars is a VIN check. The VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a 17 character alpha-numeric code that is unique for each vehicle.. and it can be used to check the entire history record that has been reported on each car.

Some of the information you can get through VIN checks are:

1. To check if the car has been involved in an accident
2. To check nature and extent of any accident that may have occured
3. To check if it is a flooded car
4. To ascertain the last reported mileage and determine if the odometer has been rolled back
5. To know if the car has been recalled and the type of recall
6. It shows the number of owners. I am sure you won't want to buy a 2010 car that has been used by 10 people.
7. It would be nice to know if the airbags of the car you are buying ever deployed especially if the deployed just before exporting it to Nigeria.
8. The VIN tells the type of title document the car had before export. If it had a clean title, salvage title, rebuilt title, parts only title (dismantled title), non-repairable title etc.
9. Are you buying a car that was stolen before export! The VIN report can help you clarify.
10. It tells the location the car was used. Whether USA, Canada, European countries etc.. as well as the state or province.
11. It tells you the year of purchase and if it was used as a personal or business vehicle.
12. It gives the service history of the car e.g oil change, tyre replacement, brake check etc..

Note: The importance of VIN checks cannot be overemphasized but to not rely solely on it as some VINs may have been altered and some records may have been omitted or not reported.

Like almost every other limited production cars, the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 sold at an auction in the UK for a crippling N55m ($148,000).

Some even claim that if it hadn’t been driven 10,067 miles between 1987 and 1991, it would have been much more expensive!

Silverstone Auctions states that the car was owned by one of the world’s wealthiest men at the time and earlier this year, it was comprehensively restored by Cosworth specialist John Taylor.

But even with the “face-lift” , would you drop N55 million?

The 2018 Acura RLX is the fastest, most stylish and the most luxurious sedan you have been waiting for from Acura.

The 2018 RLX interior embodies precision craftsmanship with class-leading space and comfort. The Electronic Gear Selector puts style and control in your hands. A new color option is also available in Espresso.

It is available in two version

-The 310 horsepower RLX with a Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS).

–The 377 horsepower RLX Sport Hybrid with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD).

Both models uses a 3.5-liter direct-injected V6, though the Sport Hybrid backs that up with three electric motors.

The RLX will be available with a Krell Audio System, surround view cameras, parking sensors, LED fog lights, remote engine start, ventilated and heated front seats, and heated rear seats and steering wheel.

The Lagos State Government on Monday outlined plans to transform the blighted areas of Oworonshoki Waterfront into one of the biggest transportation, tourism and entertainment hubs in Nigeria.

Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Engr. Ade Akinsanya in a statement, said that the project will improve the aesthetics and security of the environment, while attracting investments in water transportation and boosting socio-economic activities in the axis, with the provision of shopping malls and related infrastructures.

According to the Commissioner, the proposed entertainment and mega ferry terminal site, already under reclamation, would divert a lot of human and vehicular traffic gridlocks away from the Lagos Island and take advantage of the central location and accessibility of the proposed Oworonshoki terminal to the Apapa Port, Ikeja Airport and other parts of the State.

“Youths and residents will enjoy quality sports, recreational, entertainment and emergency response facilities at the terminal.

“Commuters transiting through the terminal will not only enjoy state-of the arts infrastructure, they will also be able to park and ride and park and cruise from the state-of-the-art jetty, thus reducing the carbon emission level and travel time within the city,” Akinsanya said.

He expressed optimism that the reclaimed 29.6 hectares site of the project, which would involve revetment work to protect the jetty area, would also eliminate illegal dredging activities in the area.

Explaining that the project will be in three phases, Akinsanya said that it was also part of efforts by the State Government to revitalise and augment inter-modal system of water, rail and road transportation and housing development, just as he revealed that the Epe, Badagry and Mile 2 waterfronts have also been earmarked in the Master Plan for similar regeneration.

He said that Phase One, which is the ongoing reclamation of the 29.5 hectares of the project site by Messrs Fountain Construction Company (FCC), would be completed by November 2017.

The Commissioner further said, “Consolidation and settlement of the reclaimed land for six to nine months, will be followed by Phase Two, which will involve provision of shoreline protection and reconstruction of 2.8km Ariyo Street as an alternative road, that will run under the 3rd Mainland Bridge along with other infrastructures within nine months and to be completed by June 2018”.

“The third Phase which will be both State financed and Public-Private Sector (PPP) financed, will involve the construction of the Mega Jetty and Bus Terminal, complete with entertainment and Tourism facilities (Multiple Boutique, Hotels, Museums/Art Galleries, Sport and recreational facilities as well as a 1000 capacity car park, based on the design master plan of the area.”

Akinsanya said that on completion, Lagosians would be able to embark on travel from Oworonshoki either via water using the Jetty Terminal or via Ultra-Modern Buses departing from the New Bus Terminal.
