1955 Mercedes-Benz Rennwagen-Schnelltransporter https://i65.tinypic.com/24cgtmv.jpg Looking at historical race photos, it’s apparent that vintage race transport trucks were almost cooler than the race cars they carried. Ferrari and Scarab used hollowed-out, bus-style trucks, while ‘60s drag racers were using rigs with inclined ramps to shuttle their Mustangs and Camaros. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz did it in style. During the ‘50s, Merc’s racing team designed this fabulously chic 300-based flat-bed transporter for its various race cars. It was powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six that pushed out around 200 hp. This, combined with a relatively slippery profile, allowed the Schnelltransporter to cruise on the Autobahn at 106 mph. The original was lost to history, so this is a perfect replica, with a period-correct SLR in tow. 1928 Mercedes-Benz 27/170 Typ SSK https://i63.tinypic.com/2nstgya.jpg The name’s quite the mouthful, but you probably know this handsome open-wheeler as simply the SSK. Perhaps no other pre-war sporting, road-going Merc represents the marquee’s relentless efforts toward motorsports and sports prowess as the SSK. It cuts a dramatic figure, with its skinny fuselage and characteristic angled front grille. This was developed specifically for hillclimb dominance, especially with its 220-hp, supercharged inline-six. 1980 Mercedes-Benz 230 G “Papamobil” https://i65.tinypic.com/kd96qq.jpg Before Pope Francis’ moves toward austerity and his eschewing of past Pope’s lavish lifestyles, the Popemobiles were luxurious affairs. And, in the case of this Geländewagen, also interesting to look at. Somehow, we have trouble picturing any pope ensconced above the aggressive mug of the G-Wagen. This was specially built for Pope John Paul II for his visit to Germany, and was revised in 1981 to incorporate projectile protection. We have to admit – it’s quite prescient to see gold adornment on an early G-Wagen, especially considering the truck’s current baller status. 1955 Mercedes-Benz SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe https://i68.tinypic.com/14vpog2.jpg It doesn’t get better than this, as far as vintage Mercedes go. Think of the Uhlenhaut coupe as a blend of the 300SL “Gullwing” coupe and the dominant 300 SLR roadster race car. After development stalled on a race SLR coupe, Mercedes Motorsports head Rudolf Uhlenhaut requisitioned one of the test mules for personal use. What resulted was a long, lithe gullwing coupe packing the chassis and mechanical bits from the SLR race car. This included the 3.0-liter inline-eight engine putting down 310 hp. In an era where most cars struggled to go much faster than 100 mph, the Uhlenhaut coupe was brutally fast, capable of blitzing 180 mph. 1938 Mercedes-Benz L6500 Pritschenwagen https://i65.tinypic.com/11sjsqg.jpg Let’s slow it down for this Benz. Surrounded by glossy S-Class’, shouty AMGs, and the automaker’s current dominance in Formula 1, it’s easy to forget a large portion of the brand’s success comes from its industrial endeavors. Here’s an example of what mobilized much of industrial Europe during the pre-war era. This cargo truck was used by all manner of business for hauling, and was capable of managing up to 20,000 pounds of payload in some double-axle models. This L6500 packs a whopping 12.5-liter six-cylinder diesel engine, hanging out in front of the forward axle. With this powertrain, this was capable of transporting up to 14,000 pounds of payload. 1980 Mercedes-Benz 500 SLC Rallyewagen https://i66.tinypic.com/2aiqwbl.jpg Despite a robust platform, Mercedes’ didn’t take the R107 SL racing very often. This is one of the rare moments of SLC competition in the form of a long-distance rally car. This particular 500 SLC crushed 3,315 miles in the African Bandama Rally down the Ivory Coast. After a 1-2 finish, Mercedes ceased its rallying efforts. 1909 Benz 200 HP “Blitzen-Benz” https://i67.tinypic.com/312wpwj.jpg It’s hard to believe that at one point in history, 200 hp was seen as a monumental amount of power. With a massive 13.1-liter four-cylinder pushing out 200 hp, this white behemoth became the first European car to reach the 125 mph mark, going on to hit 142 mph on Daytona Beach in 1911. 1939 Mercedes-Benz T80 https://i67.tinypic.com/f2sads.jpg Oh, what could have been. This voluptuous silver missile is the mighty T80, a stillborn land speed record car developed by Ferdinand Porsche for Mercedes-Benz. The effort was officially sanctioned by Adolf Hitler himself, who envisioned the T80 as an example of German dominance. Racer Hans Stuck was to drive the car on the record setting attempt, initially predicted at 342 mph. Eventually, the predicted speed cap was raised to 373 mph, and then to a breathtaking 470 mph record. The record vehicle was powered by a monstrous 44.5-liter (you read that correctly) Daimler-Benz DB603 V-12 lifted from Daimler’s aeronautics division. The V-12 was strangely inverted, returning a stunning 3,000 hp. World War II broke out as the project was nearing completion, and the T80 was stuffed in an Austrian garage. After the war, it was brought to the Mercedes-Benz museum, where it remains on permanent display. Mercedes could conceivably resurrect the car, but bringing a Nazi-sanctioned speed project to life is likely low on the automaker’s priority list. Stirling Moss’ 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR https://i66.tinypic.com/15i0ocj.jpg Let’s end this list with the big one. This silver roadster has long been considered one of the most valuable and significant race cars in existence, thanks to Sir Stirling Moss’ record-setting win of the 1955 Mille Miglia. With an average speed of 97.96 mph over 990 miles, Moss claimed a stunning victory that will never be beaten, thanks to the discontinuation of the race in full capacity. See that “722” painted on the front of the car? That represents the time of the start, 7:22 A.M. As a bonus, if you peek behind the SLR, you can see the 300SL that won the 1952 Carrera Panamericana. https://autojosh.com/9-amazing-cars-from-the-mercedes-benz-museum-in-stuttgart-germany/ Credit: Automobilemag Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun |
Do you still go through all this process just to lock your car? 1.Get Out 2.Lock Car 3.Press Lock 3 more times 4.Pull Handle just to be sure 5.Walk away 6.Look back and lock again 7.Walk away 8.Look back just for the sake of it If you are still in the era of locking your car this way, then you are in for a major embarrassment when you are asked to lock a car with keyless entry. .. If you lock a car with keyless entry and you pull the handle to confirm that the door is locked.. OYO is your case because the door which was already locked will quickly unlock and open again.. The door will always open again and again as far as you are holding the key close to the car. A guy followed his boss to a meeting.. after a while, his boss told him to drop some documents in his car and close work from there. The guy dropped the documents and could not lock the door for about 30 minutes.. he taught he had spoilt the door or even the car. He later called on his boss who locked the car within a second. He felt so bad that a big boy (according to him) could not sense that a sensor was sensing the car keys. https://autojosh.com/how-nigerians-should-get-out-of-their-cars/

Victornezzar:The question can never have a straight answer. It depends on the buyer and the major reasons for buying the car. e.g People on a strict budget usually prefer Toyota, however, people that are particular about performance and the way society perceives them would go for a Benz. People that have the money to cover the purchase price and maintenance cost, will probably prefer to settle for the Benz I guess. |
It’s easy to become enamored when a car is shiny and new, complete with a new-car smell. But over time that seemingly great choice can look like a bad decision. Here at Consumer Reports we spend a lot of time helping consumers make the best choices. But the same testing and surveys we use to make those determinations also show us, and you, products to avoid. To help you keep buyer’s remorse at bay when it comes to car shopping, we’ve assembled a list of the worst picks in 10 popular categories based on the lowest Overall Score. Our Overall Score provides a complete picture of each model, combining road-test score, predicted reliability, owner satisfaction, and safety, including government and insurance industry crash-test results. While some of these cars have their fans, we’d suggest that these stay off your shopping list. There are literally many better choices in each category. Consider one of our Top Picks, or use our new-car selector to find the models that excel in the areas that matter most to you. Lowest-Rated Luxury SUV: Cadillac Escalade https://i68.tinypic.com/vfxysn.jpg Reliability: Much worse than average Fuel economy: 16 mpg Price range: N27m-N36m ($73,395-$97,795) The Escalade lacks the character of a true luxury SUV; it rides too stiffly and doesn’t stop or handle with the grace of its peers. Despite casting a massive shadow, the Cadillac is not even that comfortable inside. The second-row seats are too low, and the third row is cramped. The Cue infotainment system is confounding. Reliability ranks worst in class. We consider a well-trimmed Chevrolet Suburban or GMC Yukon XL to be a smarter buy. Lowest-Rated Luxury Compact SUV: Land Rover Discovery Sport https://i66.tinypic.com/21kjt44.jpg Reliability: Much worse than average Fuel economy: 21 mpg Price range: N14m-N17m ($37,455-$45,995) One would expect a more regal entry into this hot market segment from Land Rover. Instead, the Discovery Sport struggles in comparisons against even mass-market small SUVs. Power delivery from the turbo four-cylinder is spiky, with either too little or too much acceleration, and the transmission is neither smooth nor responsive. Though capable off-road, on the road the ride is stiff-legged and handling is far from sporty. The austere cabin is rather plain for a model from a boutique luxury brand. The infotainment system is slow to respond. Based on Land Rover’s history, reliability is a concern for this pricey, underachieving SUV. Lowest-Rated Luxury Midsized Sedan: Maserati Ghibli https://i68.tinypic.com/34pxrua.jpg Reliability: Much worse than average Fuel economy: 19 mpg Price range: N26m-N29m ($70,600-$78,550) The Ghibli turns heads and is fun to drive. Handling is sporty and agile, the brakes are strong, and the engine emits a thrilling bark. But the fuel economy from the Ferrari-developed V6 turbo is dismal, the stiff ride can grow fatiguing, and the rear seat is cramped. Climbing into or out of this low-slung sports sedan can be a challenge. Chrysler’s Uconnect touch screen is a plus, but it’s hard not to notice some cheap-looking switches, sourced from other, more mainstream models from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Lowest-Rated Entry-Level Luxury Car: Mercedes-Benz CLA https://i64.tinypic.com/2lc7l3s.jpg Reliability: Worse than average Fuel economy: 28 mpg Price range: N12m-N18m ($31,500-$48,500) The CLA proves that pedigree does not ensure a refined car. At first the engine feels unresponsive, then the power comes on abruptly. Though the car is agile, the ride is punishingly stiff and the CLA is loud inside. Cabin access is difficult, and the well-appointed interior is cramped. The heavily promoted base price is something of a tease; buyers need to spend a lot on options to get the luxury features expected on a premium model. Lowest-Rated Midsized SUV: Dodge Journey https://i64.tinypic.com/245fs3n.jpg Reliability: Worse than average Fuel economy: 16 mpg Price range: N8m-N12m ($20,995-$33,695) On paper, this midsized SUV may sound compelling, but in our tests we found that the Journey has a confining interior and lacks agility, and the V6 delivers the worst fuel economy in its class. Plus, it suffers from below-average reliability and poor performance in IIHS small-overlap frontal crash tests. Even though it rides well and has a relatively quiet cabin, families may be deterred by the snug third-row seat. The Journey is late in its model run, with discounts commonplace. But don’t be tempted. This low-rated model is a poor value anywhere—even at the airport rental lot. Lowest-Rated Compact Pickup: Toyota Tacoma https://i68.tinypic.com/dwzx52.jpg Reliability: Much worse than average Fuel economy: 19 mpg Price range: N9m-N14m ($24,825-$37,820) The Tacoma is as rough and tumble as it has always been, complete with impressive off-road prowess. But there is no escaping that this is a primitive truck. Despite the recent redesign, the ride remains stiff, handling is ponderous, the cabin is loud, and the driving position is still awkward. The modern connectivity features are a welcome upgrade. Safety features such as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available. Ultimately these electronic niceties do not overcome this truck’s shortcomings. And counter to its past reputation, first-year reliability of the redesigned Tacoma has been disappointing. Lowest-Rated Midsized Sedan: Chrysler 200 https://i64.tinypic.com/iyk9om.jpg Reliability: Much worse than average Fuel economy: 25-30 mpg Price range: N8m-N12m ($21,995-$31,785) This category is overflowing with competent, and even excellent, alternatives to the 200. It drives like it’s from a previous era. Handling is clumsy, the ride is unsettled, and the four-cylinder engine is underwhelming. The transmission is uncooperative and has proven to be a reliability albatross. The tight rear seat feels claustrophobic and access is compromised. In Consumer Reports’ ratings, the 200 has the dubious distinction of carrying the lowest Overall Score and lowest road-test score in the class, as well as the lowest predicted reliability rating. Lowest-Rated Compact Car: Fiat 500L https://i68.tinypic.com/2cofl1f.jpg Reliability: Much worse than average Fuel economy: 27 mpg Price range: N7m-N9m ($19,495-$24,795) This quasi-wagon responds eagerly in turns, handles securely at its limit, and has a roomy cabin. But it earned a dismal road-test score due to a stiff ride, flat seats, and an odd driving position. Based on our extensive owner satisfaction survey, a high percentage of owners wish they hadn’t bought this hatchback. The 500L also has one of the worst reliability scores among all new cars in our recent survey. If that still isn’t enough to dissuade you, it scored a Poor in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety small-overlap frontal test. Lowest-Rated Compact Electric/Hybrid: Mitsubishi i-MiEV https://i65.tinypic.com/2iv1uaf.jpg Reliability: Average Fuel economy: 111 MPGe Price: N9m ($22,995) The i-MiEV is one of the cheapest all-electric cars available, but you’d be better off buying any other EV than this one. It’s an underdeveloped car that is slow, clumsy, and stiff riding, with a plebeian cabin. It takes 6 to 7 hours to charge on a 240-volt, Level 2 charger, or a lengthy 21 hours on a standard 110-volt charger. Its range is EPA-rated at 62 miles, although we generally got around 59 miles. In comparison, the five-seat Nissan Leaf, with its roomier interior, more comfortable ride, and longer driving range, feels like a real car and is a far better choice. Lowest-Rated Subcompact Car: Mitsubishi Mirage https://i65.tinypic.com/5trozm.jpg Reliability: Average Fuel economy: 37 mpg Price range: N5m-N6m($12,995-$16,995) An affordable car that delivers a thrifty 37 mpg overall might make the Mirage seem like a screaming deal. But enhancements for 2017 don’t mask the weak, vibrating three-cylinder engine that delivers sluggish acceleration or the clumsy roly-poly handling. Though the cabin is relatively roomy, it feels drab, cheap, and insubstantial. In the end, there is no compelling reason to buy a Mirage and, for the money, there are many much better used cars for the same price. Note: The quoted prices in Naira do not include shipping to Nigeria and clearing. https://autojosh.com/10-lowest-rated-cars-2017/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun |

Porsche is having trouble with the engines in certain earlier Panameras and Cayennes. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, some of those vehicles “have camshaft controllers that may come loose inside the engine, thereby causing the engine to stop.” Most Porsche owners won’t like their car engine stalling, the company has recalled 17,986 of them in the United States alone. Among them are Panameras – including base, S, 4, 4S, and Turbo models – from the 2010-12 model years, and certain 2011 Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo SUVs as well. The recall will necessitate the replacing of the fastening screws on the camshaft adjusters, which shouldn’t take much time. The question is, would Porsche Nigeria accept such recalls? https://autojosh.com/porsche-recalls-18000-panameras-and-cayennes-with-engine-problems-in-the-u-s/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

It's not just about the body kit.. it gets lots of carbon fibre, diamond-polished rims, additional 91 horsepower, additional 109 lb-ft of torque and several other aesthetics. See what the Mansory looks like in the pictures below. Note: One cannot use the starting price of a vehicle (especially luxury vehicles) to determine the price of other trims.. Uber’s privately hired cars now have an option to get vehicles with already installed child seat. This was a smart move, because there were reports that private hire cars like Uber are not allowed to board passengers below the height of 4ft in some countries. Users will have to pay an additional charge of N1,850 ($5) when the Uber car seat option is selected in booking an UberX ride with the Uber App. This service was introduced on Thursday, June 15th 2017 on a total number of 100 cars. Children that use the child seat have to be from ages one to ten and weigh between 10kg to 25kg, and must not exceed 4ft in height. These seats cost about N148,ooo ($400) but would be subsidised for Uber cabs due to the existing partnership between Uber and Taxi Baby. GrabCar Uber’s rival has however already had 3000 cars equipped with child seats manufactured by Grab- and- Go. The age range is from four to seven years old and requires users to pay N740 ($2) more than the normal price. This feature is already available in countries in Asia, however will we see this improvement in Nigeria? https://autojosh.com/uber-to-introduce-car-seat-service-for-children-will-nigeria-follow-suit/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

The Regera, Koenigsegg‘s beautiful first hybrid following the lines of the Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1, and LaFerrari, but with more power, has been sold out completely. Apparently the Swedish brand had all the 80 samples of the Regera already booked.. despite costing N703 million ($1.9 million) each and it seems like they aren’t planning to manufacture another anytime soon. The Regera which has fetched its maker N555 billion is totally worth every chase, it has 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a trio of electric motors delivering a combined 1,500 horsepower for a 0-62 time time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 255 – 275 miles per hour. Go-Karts are often related with amateur vehicles and Kid's toys mostly because they are found in amusement parks, but all thoughts and theories that we have about them are been questioned by the Daymak C5 which is currently tagged the wold's fastest go-kart. For about N22m ($60,000), you get a go-kart with 2400 watt-hour lithium battery that powers a 48-volt brush-less DC motor which is then turbo sped by the 12 Electric Ducted Fan (EDF) motors which are each powered by a 5000maH battery that arrives at a speed of 60 miles per hour in just 1.5 seconds. The go-kart was built with hydraulic rear disk brakes to reduce the speed in a much lesser time to keep the driver safe. For most people who can't take the risk, a much cheaper Daymak C5 Blast Standard go-kart for N3.7m ($9,999), but without the aforementioned EDF motors would arrive at the same speed in 3.9 seconds-which is a lot slower. Both go-karts are sadly still prototypes and has not been disclosed as to when they'll be available for you to drive. Due to the success of the Chiron, Bugatti have been thinking of releasing a first saloon car model. With similar headlight pattern, aerodynamic lines in the car’s profile that help with cooling the large mid-mounted 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 engine of the Chiron and other features of the Galibier Concept Sedan that IndavDesign has imagined has a good starting point. Speaking of which, the Chiron’s engine will probably be retained on the production-spec luxury sedan, but it will likely be reduced from the current 1,500PS (1,479hp) and 1,600Nm (1,180lb-ft) of torque. The hyper saloon isn’t the only knockout plan, the vision of a third model with an electric powertrain, is top on the list of Bugatti’s future agenda. https://autojosh.com/bugatti-saloon/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

One of the greatest exploiters we have in Nigeria are the car dealers. They can actually make a scrap car look brand new again.. The cars at their showrooms look perfect to the average eyes.. However, a trip behind the scene could leave you dumbfounded. My simple advise to all prospective car buyer is, never rely on the information given to you by the car seller.. They may just give you a Tokunbo car as brand new or a Nigerian used as Tokunbo. These are 5 things Nigerian car dealers don't want car buyers to know 1) Accidented cars: Car dealers would always tell you their cars are clean without a scratch or blemish. But when you prove to them the car has been resprayed, they will now change their tone and say they only sprayed the bumpers due to a scratch at Lagos port. Note: This is usually a big fat lie. That car is most likely accidented. It is not news that most cars which are imported into Nigeria are bought from auctions that sell a large number of damaged vehicles. This may not be a problem as some damage are minor and inconsequential.. However, some dealers prefer to buy the badly damage cars which would be sold very cheaply as scrap.. and such vehicles would be repaired and sold to unsuspecting Nigerians. I once asked a car dealer in Lagos to show me the pictures of the accident the car I was inspecting had. What I requested was the original pictures from the auction yard before any repair was done.. but he went ahead to show pictures he took after he had done some repairs. I almost fell for it but quickly realized they had done some repairs and even put in new radiator and condenser. These guys could be desperate to any extent.. so you have to be careful in order not to buy a car that the airbags have been removed due to accident or a car that the suspensions have been patched up to only take you out of their sales lot. 2) Rolled back mileage: Just a week ago, I did a vehicle history check for someone, the vehicle history report showed the car had trekked 403,000 kilometres before it left Canada last year.. but the dashboard odometre in Lagos a week ago was showing 80,000 kilometres. What happened? They had rolled back the mileage. Come to think of it, imagine rolling your age back to 15 after clocking 80 years old.. That would be splendid. Another guy kept complaining his car had multiple issues.. we later realised the actual mileage on the car was about 500,000 kilometres. 3) Flooded cars: Did you just buy a car that has a mind of its own? You try to reduce the volume of the radio but the sound goes up instead.. You try to turn off the radio but the AC goes off instead.. The reverse camera comes up anytime you put the car in drive.. and your car continues to play many annoying pranks with you. The car is probably a flooded car. These cars are cheap at the auction so the ridiculous prices attracts dealers who want to maximize their profit. Dealers don't want you to ever know they are selling a flooded car to you and you probably can't tell with your bare eyes. The simplest way to know is by doing a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) check especially Carfax VIN check. Some people buy cars and they spend money fixing it for more than a year without being able to drive it. 4) Unpaid import duty: The excessive import duty in Nigeria, our porous land borders as well as high level of corruption has led to several cars being smuggled into the country. The sad news is, these cars are not seized from the dealers.. but they are seized from the final buyers who are not aware the vehicles were smuggled. The good news is Nigeria Custom recently launched a custom paper verification process that allows you to confirm if duty was paid on a particular vehicle. See how to verify your custom paper HERE.. https://autojosh.com/custom-paper-verification/ 5) How much they make on each car: It is true some cars are sold at a loss especially when they have been on ground for too long. It is also true that car dealers can make between ₦200,000 to ₦700,000 on a 2006 model Toyota car. The better they are able to execute the 4 points I listed above, the higher the profit they make.. but I have observed that no matter the amount car dealers make, they will always tell buyers that they are only making ₦50,000 on the car sale. If you fall for their appeal to pity, you will end up paying more for nothing. Tell us what you noticed car dealers in Nigeria did not want you to know and stay tuned to AutoJosh for more on cars. Just like the Tesla Model S is getting a baby Model 3, the Model X would also be getting a baby Model Y. To confirm the upcoming Model Y electric compact SUV, Tesla has released the first teaser photo. “I’m really excited about Model Y,” Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO said, according to Inverse. “We’re aiming for that to hit the roads in 2019 approximately.” Elon Musk also said Tesla shouldn’t have based the X on the Model S sedan. “I think we really made a mistake in trying to derive the design for the Model X from the Model S platform,” Musk said. “It would have been better just design an SUV the way an SUV should be designed, design a sedan the way a sedan should be designed, otherwise you’re just trying to shoehorn something in that doesn’t make sense.” Musk didn’t reveal much information but he said more will be announced at the unveiling of the Tesla’s Semi-Truck this September. https://autojosh.com/tesla-teases-new-model-y-compact-suv/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun
