Personally I believe Nigerian used cars are not the problem. The buyers and their kazeema are the issue here. I have seen naija used cars that run even better than the almighty toks. I have sold a naija used car that never gave an issue. If u see am sef U go think say na toks. If you had carried out your due diligence reading up about the said vehicle, knowing its common faults and all, and also taking along a "trustworthy" automobile technician not our dearly beloved borda Kazeem to inspect the ride (for a small fee), you would have saved yourself the stress of having to spend so much on a money draining project. And then you continued with the same kazeem that was just throwing parts at the car without careful system diagnosis.... baba na double triple wahala be that o. But then sorry about your ordeal sir. That kind car for sweet for project o. Autologic coman carry motor o hehehehe

But on long journeys to the east, and North, with AC system on, full tank is #13k.

From Lagos to Lokoja, Kogi state, full tank takes me without topping up.

Lagos to Ibadan, I used only 1/2 tank, to and fro.

I only used the car for my job when going for jobs outside Lagos, etc.

Em, I bought the car first of all, as a project car.

A client of mine sold the car, when it overheated so badly, that the engine could not turn over.

I had to tow the car to the shop, and disassembled, the engine, rebuilt it from scratch, to the way it is right now.

Setting the timing, took me few days to get.

I like the car though.

some easy ways to achieving better fuel economy
1. be gentle on the gas pedal. with a heavy feet there is a high chance of using more fuel.
2. keep your tyres "properly" inflated. over or underinflation negative, y affects fuel economy.
3. regualar servicing with the appropriate oil
4. servicing/cleaning your fuel injectors and ensure no csrbon build up on your spark plugs. this can be done annually.

these are off the top of my head. Do add to the list so we can learn together.

In the opening part of the writeup, I had already stated the availability of those LEDs in the market.

I'm just the kind of guy that likes reverse engineering stuffs, if I can do them.

Spending such a time on what I have put my mind to do, no matter how formidable it is, does not bugged me down. I think the most important thing is time management, what I want achieved, and priorities.

Stuffs like these makes me better understand how some computations were arrived at, and how to practically implement what has being theoretically designed.

if I may chip in.... i think at low speed or idle the vehicle runs on batteries for a certain period of time (if they are charged) then under heavy load or higher RPM it switched to the engine. make oga come add to this.

Good work sir. Please my front passenger pointer only works when it's turned on to indicate my intention to turn right.

If the vehicle is locked with the remote for instance, only the driver side pointer blinks and the passenger side doesn't. If I also turn the turn signal indicator, only the driver side blinks. What could be wrong? 07 accord

check the bulb to be sure it still works as it should. some of those bulbs use double filament which they use for different functions. if one filament is burnt, it could cause this problem.
if the bulb is ok, look for the turn signal/hazard relay. its either a 5/6 pin. try find a similar working relay and swap with that one. if your turn signal works then u av found your problem.

kindly confirm if your license plate light turns on.

it is obvious you definitely have an intermittent issue. definitely a partial contact within the circuit.
kindly check the fuse, ensure it sits well and there is no corossion. next identify the relay. check if it sits well. turn on the hazard swith and use ur finger or screw driver and hit on the relay lightly, it might be stuck open. if those r good then u might have a wiring problem.

kindly check the hazard fuse, the turn signal flasher relay if they are ok you will need to check the wiring.

Check for blockage in the evap system

A block in thr evap system will cause a build up of fuel vapour pressure within the tank when you fill up and therefore will not allow you fill up to maximum.
However we need to be sure if the fuel tank actually still has fuel when the indicator shows half tank on the cluster. because a blocked evap system and shorted fuel level sensor signal wire can show this also.

My Toyota Rav 4 2000 model start misbehaving a week ago, i have changed fuel pump, replaced Coil, changed Plugs still has the same issue. he stoped at every 5mins, i need to leave it for another 10 to 15mins to cool down. when i start it in the morning it will move at almost 25mins no stop after that he stoped at interval. Eng. pls what is the solution, i am tired.

Sorry for the stress brother. However with my experience, such issues are best diagnosed by an experienced tech as this is an intermittemt issue.
We need to know what exactly is happening via livedata to be able to narrow down the cause.
I have seen failed/weak fuel pumps cause this. Even a faulty fuel oump circuit can also show itself like that. I have also seen faulty cam/crank position sensor also cause an engine to die or not start when they are hot.
It is best diagnosed while the fault is present sir. Gives us a better chance of narrowing down what the cause might be.
Do you reside in Lagos sir?
Not forgetting did you ever run a scan? What were the codes you got?

The original timing belt kit would include water pump, timing belt, idler pulleys and the tensioner.but i doubt if he'll be able to get original complete kit for this our naija o

my Camry 1999 model car engine has really eaten deep into my pocket. for the past 6months I have changing the timing belt. following past threads on the issue, I have changed all engine components on that area ranging from water pumps to all the rollers there. I have used new and tokumbo belts but the problem still persists. It occurs averagely at 1 month interval. I have changed mechanic too. am now told to consider getting another engine. please help.

Sorry about this sad experience bro. However sir i would love to point out changing the engine because of this? I feel thats an extreme measure. Anyway that timing belt drives the alternator, the cam and crankshaft pullies, the water pump and oil pump pullies and some other idler pullies (rollers).
U said you have changed water pumps to rollers. Now the other components that were not changed, have you checked dem carefully to be sure there is probably one that isn't wobbling and causing the belt to shred?
Let a competent mechanic inspect the crankshaft, camshaft and alternator pullies carefully for defects. Whatever is causing this issue might be there.
Also note that oil and sometimes water usually kills the belts. Kindly confirm if u av oil leaks arnd that area and fix.

Sorry to say sir but your assertion of oily/greasy dirt accumulation on an engine causing overheating is very very wrong.
The temperatures of combustion within the engine waaaaaaaaaaaaay higher than au much heat those accumulations can trap. If you dint believe go check out your local taxi engines. See how unkept they are and many of dem still run. True they done have thermostats and all but if oil dirt accumulation could cause overheating those cars should never ever run.
